Preferred Solution: Install List list installed twice

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi there.

I've searched round and round, tried some freeware that didn't do what it says on the tin. Then thought "Tech Support...!"

I was installing Microsoft Webcam software on Vista (LifeCam 1.4) and it hung up part way through the install. Elements of the software are in place (icons on the desktop, when clicked on, work ... to an extent) but it's not right.

Trouble is, it doesn't appear on the add/remove list in order that it be uninstalled .. and I can't reinstall without uninstalling (says the setup.exe).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hello, I would be grateful if anyone can help with this query.

On 1 June 2013 I took my pc back to Factory Settings and did a clean install of Windows installing all the relevant important updates for Vista. My pc is now up-to-date but one thing puzzles me. My list of installed updates lists a significant number of updates installed in 2008. (Two installed on 21/01/2008 and 39 from 21/10/2008). I would have expected that all updates listed would have an installation date on or after 1 June 2013.

I would be grateful if someone could explain this for me.

A:Why do my installed updates list updates installed prior to date of clean install

One important question, when did you buy the computer?
Was it after the installation date that shows, now?

Is there a list of hotfixes that are required to be installed prior to installing SP1?

I am trying to slipstream SP1 into an installation DVD for Windows 7. It works fine, however, after I installed my newly created DVD, I found an update that said "You must install this patch before you install SP1. If you have already installed SP1, please uninstall it, reinstall this patch, then reinstall SP1." Obviously I want to integrate that patch before I slipstream SP1.

Is there a list of patches that need to be applied before SP1 is applied?

I had a distribution list for a mass email for some of our customers. But when we got Microsoft Exchange everything copied over but this one (the most important list!) did not copy over. But I checked through the sent messages and was able to copy the list from the BCC Field to a text file.

I have an EXTERNAL USB Drive 1gb that I use to IMAGE machines all the time.  An employee got a new laptop Dell E5470 with an M.2 Sata SSD, and when I boot this machine to the external drive to apply a new image, diskpart does not show the External HDD under List Volume or List Disk.  I have played around in the BIOS thinking because of the new M.2 Sata SSD there was a setting that was causing this but I am unable to find anything that allows this to work.  It will boot from the External Drive but when running diskpart, it will not sow the drive so I can't apply and image or take an image since I have no were to place the image or copy it from.

I'm running Win10 Pro 64bit and Revo Uninstaller Pro v3.1.5. There is a huge discrepancy in the installed programs lists provided by Revo Uninstaller and the Win10 Programs and Features control panel. They both say there are 83 installs (that's good). But Revo Uninstaller claims that 15 programs were installed a few days ago on 2/29/2016. The correct number is 3 which is what Win10 says. Today I uninstalled Revo Uninstaller (using Revo Uninstaller to do it) and then reinstalled it. No help.

I guess it might be OK to ignore this discrepancy but I find it surprising.

I have two lists.
List one is raw data. List two is a collection of flag/alert words.

I need to find any term in list one that contains any flag word from list two.

In this example every term on list one would return a result of 'true'. LIST TWO is always much shorter than list one.

I was trying to set it up so that in the column directly to the right of LIST ONE produces a 'true' if that list one term contains in any fashion any term from LIST TWO.

As you will see in the example I was also trying to have a similar column to the right of LIST TWO so that I could easily see how many of the key terms had been found in the much larger list.

The sample also has color fill based on the True/False to make it easier to visualize.

Can anyone help make this work correctly?
Match does not work because I am not looking for identical strings.
I have not been able to get Find or Search to work either.

As of right now it only seems to look at the other list's entry on the exact same ROW.

Using the inbuilt duplicate highlight function in a column lists everything that is a duplicate. Even when a filter is applied it still shows entries as duplicate. Which is correct, it is a duplicate.

How to only show duplicates in the filtered list pertaining to the filtered data?

the date col shows a duplicate 24/02/2009 but is totally unrelated to Niemeyer, date belongs to another record for another company that is not in the filtered list

A:Filter list to show only duplicates in the filtered list

i have not used the duplicate function in excel 2007

I would create another column and concatenate the columns

that will bring column A, B, C and E into one cell - say cell H

to test that new column and then filter

Like so many, I need help with a slowing computer, and appreciate your site. Would someone please tell me why my Task Mgr. Processes list showed 54, and the System Configeration Utility showed only 23 that were checked? I already unchecked 14 of those, & have shutdown several times since, and now have 47 processes showing in Task Mgr. (??) Do I simply use the definitions on sysinfo.org and delete what I determine in Task Mgr? I wonder why the lists do not match?

Also, can someone suggest the best computer cleanup program, free, or otherwise for a medium knowledge user? And, I am wondering what my virtual memory should be at. I have a 1.7, with currently 640 MB ram. (I had to take out one stick when I learned the slot is bad). What should it be when I bring it back to 1 GH. I am running XP Pro, Ser. Pk 2. ..........Thanks!

A:Why Is Task Mgr. List Longer Than System Configration List

Task Manage shows running processes - System Configuration shows several things in it's Startup and it's Services tabs. The svchost.exe processes house (typically) between 1 and 25 other processes running beneath one instance of it.The System Configuration tool is designed for troubleshooting, not for tuning your system. For tuning I'd suggest this free application: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...s/Autoruns.mspx

Welcome mnoman to the windows 7 forums.

There is a distinct possibility that your install went astray due to a corrupted mse.
Can we assume that you downloaded from the microsoft security site?
If you can do a restore back to an earlier time prior to trying to install mse.

This might be your best bet as it looks like your registry might have gotten munged up.
Also, do you have another AV or Internet Security product installed?

If so, then that could be the culprit.

A:Installed Program List

I had some weird problems after upgrading to Win10 so I did a clean reinstall. Most things got better, but some (very unexpectedly) got worse. I would like to compare the list of drivers I had installed prior to the reinstall to the list I have installed now. I doubt my new problems are driver related, but I'd like to be sure.

For the "Now" list I know I can look at each device in the Device Manager and copy down the driver information, but that's pretty tedious. Is there a utility that lists them? And can I find that information in backup taken prior to the reinstall? I have an Acronis backup that I can browse, but I don't know how to identify the drivers. (I could, of course, restore my PC back to that level to collect the list, but I'd rather not do that unless I have to.)

BTW, the problem I'm having is with a program that loads hundreds fairly small files from disk (SSD). Prior to reinstall the program would load them all with no noticeable pauses. After the reinstall it loads them in spurts with pauses in between. What used to take about 30 seconds now takes 3 to 4 times longer. On another PC - an old one I use for testing - this same problem showed up when I installed Win10 but was cured with a reinstall. It's frustrating to have the opposite happen on the PC I use daily.

A:How to get a list of installed drivers?

Not a full solution but you could always try Sysinternals Autoruns. You get a row of tabs across the top one of which is drivers. It's downloadable from here Autoruns for Windows

It could be a good starting point for you. No installation is required you just create a directory and unzip Autoruns to it.

By accident, I found out that OpenAL (no other details given) is on the list of installed programs on my Win7 64bit machine. Seems to be related to Creative Labs(?). My machine has VIA audio and I have not knowingly installed this thing.

Any ideas what this is, what it does and where it may have come from?

A:What is OpenAL doing on the list of installed programs?

When there's something you don't know, just google it .

OpenAL provides capabilities for playing audio in a virtual 3D environment.

Have a look here -> OpenAL - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And this is its official page -> Home - OpenAL

How do I make a script to list all installed updates? I have searched online for this and found somewhat confusing information.

A:Script to list all installed updates?

This for a text file (from a command prompt)

wmic qfe list brief /format:texttablewsys > "%USERPROFILE%\hotfix.txt"
or this for a html

wmic qfe list brief /format:htable > "%USERPROFILE%\hotfix.html"
This will put the file in your home directory, so feel free to change the output path to wherever you like, if you like.

Is there any way I can print out a list of installed programs in Win 7? There are 82 of them. I know I can use Gadwin Print Screen on a Control Panel Programs and Features window but the the print out is too small for these tired old eyes.

I want to do this because I am about to get a new computer and plan to use the Windows Easy Transfer, or what ever it is called, to transfer this computer to the new one. It would be easier to install the programs first and then transfer all of their settings.

Thank you very much.

A:Printing a list of installed programs

If you have CCleaner it can be done easily.

Piriform - How to list installed programs

You can open the text file with Notepad or any text editor. Print it out if you need a hard copy.

Hi again,

i just found out that the "List of installed programs" (control Panel --> Software) has somehow "shortened", there are now 15 entries, but only some days ago there where a lot more.

e.g. all the Windows-update "hotfixes" were shown separately in the list, now no such entry is to be found ?? is there any way to "reinitialize" the list or something?

or do they just have become invisible ? only like 3 or 4 of the other programs are missing ..

Hi, I need some help from you guys to clarify some issues in Outlook 2003.
I have added some contacts, catagorised them, eg. Colleagues, Friends, Family. Now that I want to send e-mails to all my colleagues.

I opened the "New Message to Contact" then clicked on the "To" button and waited to see the list of my contacts show up, however, it shows a dialog box saying:

"The address list could not be displayed (not including the smiley ofcourse). The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted... blah blah blah"

Knowing that nothing is deleted or damaged, I ignored it, and tried to create distribution list, gave it a name and clicked on "Select Members" then the same messsage box appears (as above).

I've been told that it uses contacts in the "Address Book" of Windows (to my knowledge, when you back up Outlook 2003 .pst files, these entried aren't backup too) and I would liek to keep my contacts in one place, in the .pst that is, so does this mean, to have distribution list (mailing list) to mass mail to my colleagues, I must use Windows's Address Book ? This has also been an issue with my clients who use Outlook.

How does all these contacts thingy work ? I would like to get my head around it, gimme a hand guys

A:Outlook Mailing-List / Distribution List

You need to set up Outlook to use your Contacts as an address book. Go to Tols > Options and click the Mail Setup tab and select the Mail Options button. Select the radio button for View or Change Existing directories or Address books. Click next and see if there is an entry for Outlook Address book and if it isn't there add it. If it is there it may be corrupted thus your message so delete it and recreate it. Once it is in there open your contacts folder and in the Outlook bar on the left right click on the contact item and select properties. select the Outlook Address Book tab and put a check in "Show this Folder as an Address Book" Should work after that.

when I go to scan my computer with eset, there is a list of drive letters to scan but they don't go anywhere, don't show up on the list in "computer". and even eset gets an error. Is it possible they are hidden and from vmware use? or could it be something else? I've scanned with eset and malewarebytes but my computer is clean as far as I can tell. Any thoughts?

I am curious why a listing of 22 products in Norton Systemworks and Norton Firewall Live Update list would have dropped to 7 products in the last week or so. The rest have been there since early December.(only antivirus still showing). I don't know what is being updated now other than the antivirus program. Anyone have any ideas?
Can I remove Systemworks and Firewall and re-install them or will that cause problems?
Thanks for any info.

A:products disappearing from liveupdate list list

The 22 products will have been compacted down to 7. I think what happens is that as soon as fix is needed a stand alone update is put out pretty fast and is then refined and eventually combined with a few others into a single update.

Edit: Sorry I made the topic an forgot to change the title. Should be: "List Files in Folder With Ignore List" or something along those lines.

I'm a game server admin. What I want to do is generate a text file which will be used when I launch the server. An example of the text file I want to produce is here:

sv_name "PlayMyServer"
sv_maxplayers 16
sv_mapcycle_add wizard ctf3
sv_mapcycle_add bloodgulch ctf3
Line 1 and 2 will be hard coded into the script. In fact, this section will have more lines but for this example, I've cut it down. Lines 3 and 4 are codes that add all maps to the server: wizard and bloodgulch. These are *.map files. Line 5, like lines 1 and 2, are to be hard coded.

The map files are in the \maps subdirectory of the game. What I'm looking to do, is create a batch file that will generate the above text. That is, getting a list of map files in the \maps directory and concatenating it with the proper text before and after. I also want to have the .map extension removed from the lists.

The \maps subdirectory has a few *.map files that aren't actual maps, in fact I don't know what they are. So, I would like to be able to allow for exclusions, which I will hard code as well. (i.e.: ui.map, sounds.map)

Note that this script will probably be saved somewhere in the Quick Launch folder and I want to specify the location of the output and the name of the file. It will be in a text file format.

A:List Files in Folder With Ignore List

DIR "D:\Data\" /s > "D:\List.txt"

This script will make a text listing all files in a folder.

D:\Data is where the folder is located and D is the drive where the text file "List" will be created. Note Windows 7 will NOT allow the text file to be created on C-drive.

You may have to edit to get what you want in the text files. I have found this script to be very useful.

I have a sony vaio laptop which came with a pre-installed windows 8 OS. I recently upgraded it to windows 8.1. After the upgrade, I have observed that many softwares that are actually installed on the system are not listed in the apps list, such as Microsoft office, autocad, freemake, etc. It becomes really inconvenient to open any new file of these softwares.
Can anyone help me fix this issue?
Thank You

A few days ago I had some serious spyware issues. My thanks goes out to flrman1 for his help. After everything was cleaned up and taken care of I had to remove a program I never used when I noticed that I still had the Web Savings from Ebates still in the installed programs list. I went to remove it but it says that there is an error and that a main file is missing. I tried to remove it in Safe Mode but it is still unable to be removed. How can I remove it from the list?

A:Web Savings from Ebates Still in Installed program list

The orphaned entry in Add/Remove programs can be removed by editing the registry. If you feel comfortable doing that.

Warning! Always back up the registry before editing. Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. I cannot guarantee that problems resulting from modifications to the registry can be solved. Use the information provided at your own risk.

Go to Start > Run and type in regedit.

Find this Key Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall]

To see which application each sub-key represents, open it and there should be at least two values 'DisplayName' and 'UninstallString'. 'DisplayName' is the name used in the Add/Remove programs list, and 'UninstallString' is the program used to uninstall the application.

To remove a program from the list you can simply delete the sub-key representing that program.

Hi all,

An odd request: I want to export a list of installed programs on my computer, so I've got a record in case I need to do a reinstall. I've found lots of handy programs, but I think I will forget the names!

Ideally I'd want to be able to schedule to copy this list to my backup drive whenever I log on.

Easily possible?

When I was having problems with KB2975719, and going thru solutions, it drove me nuts trying to find if I had certain updates installed from the Installed List in Windows 8.1 since they are not in numerical order. (Contol Panel >Uninstall A Program > View Installed Updates)

I finally figured out where to find a numerical list which I could check much easier in determining if the updates required in some solutions were installed on my pc.

1. Install Belarc Advisor

2. Run and open Belarc Advisor

3. At the bottom of the opening page of BA, click on "click here to see all installed hotfixes" - a numeric order list.

4. Just to be sure all were there, I printed this list and manually compared it to my Control Panel Installed Updates one time.

I then had a numerical list to compare to all the KB's required for installation of KB2975719. Much easier for this simple brain than remembering a number and looking for it jumbled list. Hopefully this will help some of you in the future, particularly if MS continues to issue and pull back updates the way they have been.

A:How to Get a List of Installed Updates In Numeric Order

You can also open the Admin Command Prompt and type:
wmic qfe list full /format:htable > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\hotfix.html"

The above will create an HTML file in table format on your desktop.
