Preferred Solution: So I was having popup issues with my work computer today

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Looks like a pretty clean log. Have a look here to see whether that applies:

Hello,First time poster with an issue I can't seem to resolve on my own this time.Comcast switched the virus protection software they offer their customers from Mcafee to Norton recently, and in that week or so gap switching over I must have taken on some trojans. At first, I was getting regular popups when using IE, most notably the below:hxxp://yourswebsearch.com/search.php?q=http%3A%2Fwww.news-11-today.com%2F+popup&r=7&PHPSESSID=351996398&saff=then redirect to hxxp://www.news-11-today.com/finance-news/breaking-news.php?ex=001&tid=dcpvca2Similar to the issue resolved on this previous post.I've since run several anti virus programs (all updated prior to running):1) SUPERAntiSpyware2) Ad-Adware SE Personal3) Norton4) Spybot Search & Destroy5) Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware6) AVG Anti-Spyware7) Panda Cloud AntivirusSome things were found and corrected by some of these programs.AFTER running then, I rarely have the popups but my computer is still extremely slow (the disk is always running like the computer's working overtime on a background task), takes forever to boot up completely, and crashes regularly (I've been getting Win32 and other fatal errors recently).I've given up trying to fix it on my and would really appreciate the help. PC = Dell desktopO/S = XP ProfessionalDDS.scr, DDS.pif & GMER logs attached. I disabled all anti-virus programs prior to running them.Thank you for your help.

Hi,
I am trying to open a pop up chat window on a website and when i click on the link it opens a chat window that says the pop up should open soon or click on this link. This is normal, however when i click on the link the same window pops up again except that it keeps refreshing, making a clickin noise (like i keep pressing a link a lot of times), and the loading bar on the page keeps reloading as well. This keeps going o for about half an hour and then it says the page I am trying to load has expired, and i don't end up getting redirected to the chat window. I have contacted the organisation it is with and they said no one else had complained of the problem, and to make sure pop ups were enabled. So I have checked that:
-Pop ups are enabled
-Cookies are enabled
-That there is no virus or malware on my computer.

Still nothing.

I have also tried the website on all other browsers (safari, firefox, chrome and IE).

This problelm also occurs for every laptop/ computer in my house, except doesn't occur when I access the webpage using my mobile phone (in my house)! Very Weird!
Any suggestions?

A:Website popup doesn't work on any computer in my house...but works everywhere else!

I have also mucked arond with java script as that comes up in the bar at the bottum that says done. When the website is refreshing the words waiting for (web url) keep freshing as well in that bar.

Thanks.

This is a really stupid problem. My Acer Netbook with XP worked fine on my wireless network at home this morning. I unplugged it, folded it shut and put it in my bag to bring to work with me (I did not shut it down, never do, has always connected right away). At work, it says it's connected but has little or no connectivity because it can't get an IP address. I've done the refresh/renew, stack resets, nothing works. I got it to connect normally once, (no idea what I did) but couldn't get to the internet, so rebooted and then it won't connect at all again. I will know whether this is a hardware failure or not when I get home and try to connect, but does this sound like a router problem, or something internal? Thanks for any help.

Alright so here's my problem... I have dual booted my xp machine with windows 7. Also here lately I've been doing a lot of logo contests (i'm a graphic designer and I do contests on crowdspring.com). Well Photoshop is on my XP hard drive (i put xp on one hard drive and 7 on another) and today when I went to turn on my machine, my computer posted, went through the loading screen, then got to the "windows is starting..." screen and just froze there... it wouldn't go any farther. I tried restoring back one day and it didn't work, so I tried restoring back a full month and it still didn't work.

I have kaspersky antivirus and i keep it updated and it was running plus I tried restoring so I know it's not a virus...

Oh and I forgot to mention, it will boot into safe mode... just not regular...

any ideas? Windows 7 still works fine... that's what i'm using now to post (luckily I finally got my air card to work, i guess my original installation of either program didn't work because I completely uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it worked), so i can get online, it's just i can't use photoshop, which is my main concern....

so any suggestions would be fantastic...

A:Dual booted 7 and xp a week ago... as of today xp won't work

When XP hangs on me booting up i quite often put in the xp cd, go to recovery console and type chkdsk /r
This usualy sorts it for me.

Due to corona virus my wife started working from our home office last week. She used our personal PC to connect to her work through Citrix with a few hiccups but eventually no problem. Our PC connects to internet via wifi due to distance from router.
This week she was unable to connect. Her IT department couldn't resolve it and said it can't connect because it is not cabled?????
So my wife had to go to work, collect her computer and bring it home. We now have our outdoor garden table in the living room as a makeshift office so she can plug her work computer into the router. Two kids and husband confined at home too!

Apart from buying a 10m network cable is there a fix to get connected via wifi?

Okay, so I've been having some annoying issues on my computer, nothing serious yet but some are concerning. Feel free to ask for more info if needed.

Issue 1: I've had some jerkiness/lag and loading issues for some of the games I play, particularly Blizzard games (all of which should be well within system specs). The prime examples:

--> When I play Overwatch, sometimes character models/audio/sprays/projectiles take FOREVER to load for the first game I play after launching the program. All player models are essentially invisible, including my own (don't see the character's weapon or even HUD), and if I fire my weapon while invisible the map will react (breakable objects break), but all of the effects are invisible (if I fire a rocket, for instance, the rocket and explosion are invisible). I can still see usernames above allied players, but enemies are completely invisible. Models load at different rates (so one hero's model might load after a few seconds while the rest take minutes, for instance), any sprays just appear as the default spray (if they appear at all), and voice lines don't work. This has lasted for an entire round before, and when that happens the "play of the game" clip will often have invisible characters in it, even if they've loaded fully by the end of the round. Additionally, even once most/all assets are loaded, if I die and respawn there is a period (several seconds) where the screen is completely black even though my character is ... Read more

Hi, I bought a great new Envy product about 2 months ago and had two problems, poor audio and connectivity issues. Specifically, wifi keeps cutting, freezing, locking, disappearing from device manager etc. This is all over this forum, I've seen the threads, just like my laptop. I tried every solution I seen here, in the HP support app etc. OMG. Nope. I brought back the faulty Envy and got a replacement. The replacement had the same wifi issues. So I called HP today. What did they say? They know about the problem, there are two variants of INTEL WIFI CHIPS in laptops causing issues in "Windows 10". (BS about Win10, because I installed Win 7 on separate partition, installed HP drivers and same issue). HP guy said we're all waiting on a fix from Intel but there is NO NEWS, and NO DATES on a solution but I can wait for a fix if I want. Alternative? Go back to the store and get a replacement or refund. No joke. Partially, I think that support guy sucks because his desire to help and customer retention encouragement was non-existent but, ultimately I think he did me a favour. At least there's no more guesswork and I know what to do. He even directly mentioned finding an alternative laptop with Atheros wifi chips instead. Okey dokey. What are the the wifi chip variants? Go to device manager, network adapters, see the Intel name, if it has: 72xx or31xx in the name, e.g. mine has 3165 in the name - as do so many current laptops among different brands in t... Hi!

My Vista problem is this:

I unplug AC and USB devices in order to work outside my working station...
After some time, when I replug the laptop to AC and replug the USB devices they don't work... No mouse, no printer, no smart card, no usb at all. Also I can't restart the computer as it freezes, so I have to shut it down "violently". I noticed that this always occurs when the battery is under 50 %. But sometimes it happens even at higher percentages. I've installed sp2, I've disabled the USB selective suspend both in power options and in registry... WHAT ELSE TO DO???
Thanks!!!

A:Power issues - after repluging to AC USB doesn't work, can't restart computer...

Hi ogi30 and welcome to Vista Forums

What happens if you shutdown your laptop before reconnecting the adapter and USB devices? Does it then restart correctly? How old is your laptop, and, more to the point, how old is the battery?

Went though steps to clean my computer of a Trojan today. ESET scan came back clear. Then I took the advice and began downloading programs to protect myself when I downloaded COMODO free firewall, it did a scan for Malware and found 5 files that were a threat.

One containing the the words 'combofix' and another 'win32' which initially in my alert from windows security center saying 'Win32.Backdoor.DNM'. I chose to remove these files and my computer and restart for the firewall to install and changes to be made. When my computer rebooted I had a message from the firewall saying 'svchost.exe' is trying to connect to the internet, which was also one of the virus's that were ment to be removed when I ran Combofix.

My other thread was closed as I thought my troubles were over. Help would again be much appreciated.

A:Cleaned my computer with staff help today. Scan still found virus on my computer.

Check your PM inbox. Personally, I don't care for Comodo, and the only firewall I use is my router's hardware firewall and Windows XP's. Too many people don't know how to respond to the notifications from firewalls. I don't care for Comodo's detections, and it's overly intrusive.

If you installed this before you uninstalled ComboFix, that would explain why you were getting some hits from Comodo. It incorrectly sees parts of ComboFix as a threat. Also, there might be some quarantined files left behind if you installed this before uninstalling ComboFix.

Regarding svchost.exe, as long as it's in system32, that's fine

A:Solved: Access Date Today or after today

If this is the same field as the first post then you will be stuck with the default value of Now() or Date().
If it is a different field then in the validation property use >=Date().
Date() is used when you do not need to store the "Time" as well as the date, Now() stores the Date and the Time.

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery mode. This allows us to help you in the case that your computer has a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that.

Now, upon start up, I get this message that "New hardware's been found." It's not recognizing Toshiba RNDIS adapter. I think that's my cable modem, but my modem's running fine. I just canceled the wizard. Should I be concerned about this? How can my modem be operating if the computer hasn't recognized it?

Also, after the move across the room, my mouse apparently fried because it wouldn't move the cursor out of the left hand edge of my screen. I plugged in another mouse, and it's working fine. I really prefer the other mouse if there's any way you know of I can get it working again.

Also, I'm just curious, what is this sethc.exe ?

thanks in advance,

Zing

Hello.

So today I have noticed my computer has started to lag. Some programs load and run slower than usual. Games run quite a bit choppier. I tried virus scanning and that didn't help. Cleaned up registry with CCleaner but nothing. I'm worried the lag will get worse and I won't be able to use the computer much. I've had this problem before and was told to get Windows re-installed. I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem.

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section, not sure where it's supposed to go. If it's wrong, move it.

A:Computer has started to lag as of today.

I am trying to figure out what drives to get with my new computer and I've been thrown by this new Native Comman Queuing term. My computer pal says it is just software from one particular company and not really that important. They say that

Command Queuing is a new SATA feature that allows the drive to access data faster. Commands that are sent to the drive from the PC are optimally reordered to allow for faster data access.

Here are the options for 1st and 2nd drives (I already deleted the outrageous priced ones so price is not as big an issue here. I'd just like to have better performing drives.

for 1st drive:
80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)

160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ Native Command Queuing [add $50 or $2/month1]

250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) [add $50 or $2/month1]
for 2nd drive:
160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ Native Command Queuing [add $110 or $4/month1]

250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) [add $230 or $7/month1]
Please let me know what to do as I need to order today to get money off.
Thanks!!!

Thank you for looking at my problem

I woke up this morning to the sound of my computer beeping, only to find that somehow in the night it had shut down (i had left it on) and was trying to reboot itself.

Please forgive my lack of "techie terminology" as i describe what has happened.

The computer was going thru the usual loading process... the black screen with the white letters where it tests memory etc. then goes into load windows.

It would load the splash page for windows (XP Pro btw) and would sit there for a few seconds then it would click back over to the black screen with the white letters again

It continued to do this over and over.

I have tried booting in all the various safe modes (with networking etc) and the same thing happens, back to the black screen with the white letters.

I got out my Windows XP CD, and booted the machine with it in the drive and tried to get it to do a "repair" of the install. It seemed to have been working, finished loading the files it wanted... and then once again, back to the black screen with the white letters.

I'm not sure if i have a software issue here or a hardware issue. I am confident that i can reformat and install a new copy of Windows XP, however I am concerned that doing so may not fix the problem, (and write over all my data for nothing)

As far as my machine, it's a home built jobby, AMD K7 with 512mb ram, 40GB and 120 GB hard drives, CD-RW drive, DVD-RW drive.

I connect using a cable connection, and use outlook express for email. I have already checked the outlook settings "ask before switching".

thanks

as far as I know, most webpages need popups for them to run sufficiently, and as far as i'm aware of under certain country laws, the OS makers are not allowed to permantly block them..I maybe wrong, only going what I read the other day.

My system crashed and I had to reload my apps onto a new PC. On my old PC, I was successfully using the Google toolbar with Popup Blocker engaged. I had vitually no pop-ups.

On the new one however, same OS (W2000), the Google Popup Blocker does not seem to be functioning nearly as well.... I'm getting pop-ups all the time.

Any suggestions?

A:Google Popup Blocker - No Work No More

When you installed to a new PC, did you go onto the internet without a working firewall and antivirus? If so, you probably got infected with spy/adware, and you'll need to get your system cleaned up.

Some things you'll need to do first:

1. Go to Windows Update website and download and install all critical Windows updates.

2. If you aren't running an antivirus, get one. If you don't wish to pay for one, there are some free ones available, see the sticky threads on the Security forum for a list of websites.

3. You'll need to have a working firewall. A good free one is ZoneAlarm.

4. You'll need to download Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy. Install them, update them, and run them, deleting everything that they find.

5. You'll need to download Hijack This! Make up a subfolder in your My Documents folder and name it Hijack This! and download the program into this folder. Run the program, then save everything it finds to a Notepad file; copy those results in your clipboard and paste them in a reply to this thread, and one of the experts will walk you through the cleanup. DON'T delete anything using Hijack This!, wait until you get advice.

All of the programs I mentioned above can be found in the Security forum, in the sticky thread called How Did I Get Infected In The First Place?

Good Luck!

I need serious help. For some reason when I'm on the internet, I get loads of popups that try and make me download virus removers. But the other popup I get is from Google Toolbar. And it says "Oops, link appears to be broken". And inside the searchbar it reads "select users tds3 default". In the first place, I didn't even have google open. And in the second, I didn't search for that. And of course, Norton's blocking possible "Fake webpage scans", but it's not solving the problem. If anyone can help that'd be great. And if I can get rid of this problem without having to download anything, then that would also be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone!

Normally I'm pretty good at this sort of thing, but this time I'm stumped. The other evening I started getting PopUp displays for random rogue spyware removers and the like. Rebooted in Safe Mode, did scans, cleaned up... still having the problem. I've fixed the majority of it, but every once in a while, I still get one or two. Hopefully someone here can help! I'm currently scanning with SpyBot S&D, Malawarebyte, Stinger, and AdAware. They all pick up problems and clean them, but then on reboot they still occur. Here's my log from HJT.
