Preferred Solution: I need to upgrade my PSU for graphics card

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone....

Current PC specs listed above ..... to get it out of the way I am a gamer......

This upgrade is to allow me to play some of the newer games such as The Witcher and also to enable me to utilize DX10 when I eventually upgrade to Vista.

RAM.....this is what I have found...I do not overclock and I am very happy with the matched pair of Corasir XMS 512MB 5400C4 running at 533 that I currently have so I figured the safe bet is in just jumping to a matched pair of 1MB sticks of the same.....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145015

Graphics card.....

I do have a budget and from the reviews I have read this card should carry me through the gaming world for at least the next year (hopefully 2) I like eVGA and I have nothing but good things to say about the eVGA 6800GS that I am currently using.

But if anyone has some input as to problems with the card listed below or if you know of another card that will perform just as well (or better) for around the same price I would like to hear about it.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130317

Thanks in advance for any help.......

So I have a Sapphire Radeon R9 280x, and I just bought a MSI GeForce GTX 970. I also have a 500W CoolerMaster powersupply, would I need to upgrade this to 600-750W?

+note: I also bought two sticks of HyperX 16GB RAM and a Corsair H75 Hydro Series CPU Cooler.

A:Upgrade graphics card=upgrade powersupply?

Your 500 watt PSU meets the minimum requirement.... GeForce GTX 970 | Specifications | GeForce

So with that in mind....I'd say yes to a new PSU.

Hi,
My system came with a R9 270 which I want to replace with a Sapphire Dual X R9 R280x.
That card needs a 6pin and an 8pin connection and the manufacturer's site say a 500W PSU is advised.
So, I'm concerned that I get a new PSU that fits my case, has the right connectors for all the 8700 components, and is say north of 600W.
Could anyone point me in the right direction.
My system info is......
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
RAM 24GB

Even up to $200 is fine, I just want it to work. Its an older computer so it probably cannot be a card that requires a lot of power. The specs off the Dell site are below.

I currently have "Mobile Intel 4 series express chip" Integrated graphics, and a 305W PSU.

Thanks in advance

200-240V/2A (50-60Hz)
Dimensions: 150mm x 140mm x 86mm (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches)

A:Best Graphics Card, I can upgrade to.

The best card you can get is the one you can afford. Just go to a higher series AMD card. Something in the 7000 series.

You can only put 1 video card on that board, it only has 1 PCI-Express slot

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c01925486

And you could always max out the memory to 16 GBs (but 8 GBs is fine)

But you might want to spend the money on a really good 550 to 650 watt Power Supply

Hello, and thank you for clicking on this link!
I'm, well, a bit of a potato when it comes to these things so I need some help, Wether it be a tech savvy computer person or a tech savvy dell employe. My current computer is an XPS 8700 (I know, I know "A XPS 8700? Haven't heard that name is years...")(not sure if special edition or not.) with an GTX 750ti currently installed. Now I'm hoping to upgrade to a GTX 960, but I do think I have a power supply good enough (no upgrades to supply, recommened on nvidia website = 400W. Please correct if wrong.) But I dont know if it fits or if the power supply has enough "pins". (Yet again another term I don't understand.)
So once again if anybody can help with my delema I'd greatly apperciate it.
Thanks again,
-Dante the computer potato.

A:Can anyone help if I can upgrade to a new graphics card?

The stock 460W power supply works fine with standard GTX 960.
For Example EVGA 02G-P4-2966-KR  GTX 960 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487091

I would however recommend a 4GIG GTX 1050 TI over a GTX960
for both power use and performance.

A:Can I Upgrade my Graphics Card

@SpitFire1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Sorry, but unlike desktops, which use cards, laptops have chips that are soldered directly to the motherboard or system board, or come in the form of "modules".Only a very limited subset of HP laptops actually allow the replacement of processor, audio, video or WiFi "modules" and, as far as I can tell, yours is not one of these models. This means there is really no way to upgrade the video, WiFi, or processor on your laptop. You're stuck with what came with the PC.

A:Graphics card upgrade

Lettng me know what kind of budget you have for the upgrade would be a plus. You will need a card that supports legacy BIOS.Sapphiretechnology makes cards that support legacy and EFI BIOS.A card such as the Sapphire Radeon Dual-X R7 2G D5 would work.  A Sapphire Tri-X Radeon R9 390X 8G will as well. There are others, but the card  you select as a candidate has to have legacy BIOS support . A card with only EFI support will not boot with your motherboard.  GeForce GTX 10xx series cards have only EFI BIOS support. You will also need to upgrade your ATX PSU to one with 400W or more capacity and PCIe power connectors. I suggest usng a modular style PSU, perhaps a Corsair Builder PSU like the one in the link at NewEgg.com

yep, you can run a agp 8x in a agp 4x slot as long as the card says its backwards compatible

altho, with that huge bottleneck, i dont think its worth getting the 3850

my last system had a agp 4x slot, couldnt tell a difference at all when i upgraded my nvidia 5200 to a much better agp card.

save a couple of bucks and try the 3650 agp card, it also supports 4x/8x agp

Good morning,

I'm looking for some general advice around my graphics card on my rig. The rig itself is just over 3 years old now (see specs next to my name) It was a customised one and at the time I went for pretty much the best of everything that I could afford at the time. I have upgraded a couple of things, namely memory and hard-drives over the past couple of years, but I've not really needed to do much else as even by todays standards it runs games on high sometimes ultra..depending.

I'm looking at either obtaining another GTX280 (1gb) and running in SLI (I know its dated now but as previously mentioned it still runs games at high) I am bidding on a couple on ebay...as it seems I can't get them from many places now. My other option is to splash out on one of the newer GTX 680 cards... but at 370 I don't think I can justify it on the basis that I don't think it will improve my system by 370! I can probably pick up a GTX 280 for between 60 - 80 or less if i'm lucky!

What are your thoughts?

O/system - WindowsXP Pro

My PC works well but the graphics card is old (it was orginally out of my really old pc - AST Advantage, purchased in 1994).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have checked out other threads and they've been helpful, but I need to know what would be compatible with the system I've got. Also cost will be playing a big part in what ever card I buy.

A:Can i upgrade my graphics card and ram?

@Sharon_Paulson?No worries.   The current Intel graphics solution is part of the Intel Pentium CPU. (SoC system on a chip) Your notebook is an entry level(Pentium, not Intel Core i3 - i7 series) one without discrete graphics. If you had a unit with higher specs, perhaps even switchable graphics, then upgrading would not be so much of an issue. As it stands now, you can upgrade the memory, but not the graphics solution.

I'm currently using the following card:

EVGA 01G-P3-1158-TR GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI.

Last week I changed from Win 7 home Premium 32 bit to the 64 bit. I built this computer last fall, and the the rest of my specs are I5 Quad core 760, 2.80G; 8gb Corsair DDR3 1600, 600W PS.

I use this computer mostly for Flight Sims, and it seems to me my best upgrade would be the GPU. I've always had good luck with EVGA, Nvidea cards, and would like to get one that will outperform the old 250 I'm using and will also run on the 600W PS. I guess I could replace the PS if I really had to, but not looking forward to the work involved, lol.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions that will improve my system. Thanks.

You'll have fun looking at the selection. Check to see that it is compatible with your processor. I would also see what kind of selection they have at www.directron.com. A:Upgrade Graphics Card

htank, welcome to the forums.

Will that card work with Windows 7? Yes it will. Is it worth buying just for Windows 7? Others may say yes, but personally I would say no. Reason for that is you are liable to run into all kinds of problems getting it to work due to being an AGP card, if you haven't yet do a search of this forum and you will find there have been all kinds of problems getting AGP cards to work in Windows 7 (there is a 27 page thread stickied at the top of this forum). Most of the problems stem from AGP not being fully supported and the lack of a proper AGP driver (not to be confused with the driver for the video card), that allows the video card driver to work properly.

Also depending on your current power supply, you may also need to upgrade it for that card as the card requires an external connection to the power supply.

Another thing is that sad to say, but the card you linked to costs about what your whole computer is worth. Also if you do get that card and then decide down the road to get a new computer, you won't be able to move the card to the new computer as there are no computers being sold with AGP slots anymore.

Normally I am all for upgrading as necessary, but in cases like yours I usually recommend on holding off on Windows 7 until such a time as you get a new computer that is more in line with running it without needlessly spending money to get there.

1. What do you intend to be doing (Gaming, Video Editing, etc)
2. Whats your price range?

Currently have the GeForce 4, however, this is not compatible with Aero graphics with the new win 7 system. I have a 17" LED monitor I would like to use. Currently using a CRT. After viewing what I have what is the hot Graphics situation that will operate with my system. Keeping in mind the pocket book is frugal but sometimes a little more spent is cost effective in the long run. Not much of a gamer but love flight sims and such. Are there any other upgrades that should be considered?

I have a HP Pavilion 23 Touchsmart All-In-One.  My Model # is 23-h024.  The Product No. is F3D46AA#ABA .  Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card?  The current graphics card is a  AMD Radeon HD 8400 with 512 memory.  This is bare minimum for Photoshop.  Adobe told me I need at least 1G to work smoothly. Thanks in advance,

A:upgrade graphics card

Lamiller, welcome to the forum. No, here is what it says in the specifications: AMD Radeon HD 8400 graphics (combined with the processor)Supports DX11Discrete graphics are not supported on this motherboard As you can see, there is no slot for a discrete video card on the motherboard. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Recently i posted a thread regarding upgrading a few things on my Pc. This is a side note from that. I currently have a Gefore FX5900 Nividia card. I want to upgrade to a faster newer card with at least pixel shading 2. I know that the PCI express cards are the go. Unfortunately i dont have a mother board that supports PCI -e so i have to go for a AGP card. What is the best and fastest card i can get ? Not stressed about the money. But whats the best. 6600 was mentioned by someone. Cheers in advance.

A:Graphics card upgrade.

well here is one of the best ones, but really for that price with only agp slot it's not really worth it, because you will only see so much of a good speed boost

or better prices

but how old is your system, because to play games these days you may want to just save up and consider a rebuild

I want to buy a new video card to replace my onboard one that came with my Asrock 775i945GZ motherboard , my first choice is a Palit ATI Radeon HD2600PRO Sonic 256MB DDR3 128-bit and i wish to know if it's compatible with my mobo , or if my pci-e slot limits the graphics card performance

A:Graphics card upgrade

Sounds very confusing because that board has an Agi Express slot but that appears to take a pci-x 16 card which you have selected.
