Q: Display issue Acer Nitro VN7-792G

Hi everybody! Approximately a month ago I bought this laptop. A few days of work I had found that my eyes are tired extremely fast and when I use another notebook or external monitor they just relaxing. I tried all possible settings but it is hard to work with screen not only in Windows, but in Linux too. Even if you just go to BIOS, your eyes just crucifying. I found different LCD tests and has cheched this notebook LCD. I had found that phasing test fails, after that I just went to service center and they had replaced screen. All tests passed well. But I felt not comfort while working on it. My eyes strained less but this not comfort effect had left. And I asked my friends, they said that they do not feel comfort with this screen. My oculist says that I have a healthy eyes and all problems is with that notebook. So it passes all online screen tests but harms my eyes. Service center cannot take this to repair, they say that there are no problem with the screen. I do not know what to do... Some people says that it is display controller problem and to fix it just need to flash new rom. But I have the latest BIOS 1.0.9...Any suggestions? Now I must work via HDMI to save my eyes...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Iv'e been reading up on the process, and I have came across people talking about throtling issues and how it is very difficuit to replace. So just for my peace of mind, could one of you confirm one of these is correct and would work fine? https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2280SS-Single-Internal-CT250MX200SSD4/dp/B019ROAAEU/ https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-850-EVO-3-5-Inch-MZ-N5E500BW/dp/B00TGIW1XG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?i... https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Series-512GB-PCIe-NVMe/dp/B01639694M  The pro SSD looks like it has different connectors to the others. However all of those 3 I have seen people mention.

Hello everyone , yesterday i've received my new laptop acer vn7-792g , it's all great , comfortable , everything seems fine except 2 things. Battery (any ideas if its possible to remove it , because immo i'll screw the battery if its IN the laptop permanently especially when im gaming) and the second problem is Heating (i dont really know if its a problem) so while im not playing anything these are my temperatures --> https://postimg.org/image/uwuxodqbr and while gaming this is what is happening --> https://postimg.org/image/d3xfgtipt/ (once measured about 85 C GPU!!) Is that normal?? Please any helpful ideas..

Hi, It's perfectly normal. It's a notebook with small heatsink and not a PC with a huge fan and heatsink. The temperatures are normal, and it can go even higher which can cause your CPU and GPU to throttle. In case of the 792G since it is a 17 inch one, you probably will not have problems with throttling because it can have bigger airflow than a smaller 15 inch one. And regarding the battery. Is not removable, or you can remove it just if you take apart the notebook. But generaly is not a removable battery.

Hello,I have a problem with my Acer ASpire V Nitro Black Edition Laptop - Ultra HD screen.I have Windows 10 November Update. From time to time, but not the same period, the screen suddenly goes blank for a second.I suspect this to be a driver problem.I tried the acer driver and also the WIndows 10 generic one.Any ideas to what tests I can do? Or is it a driver in the works for that version of Win 10?The embedded video card is Intel HD Graphics 530. Thank you.

I cannot get the VGA driver for the nVidia 960M to install on my Acer Aspire V17 Nitro Black Edition VN7-792G-71ZL.  I am using the driver found on the Acer site.  I am hoping there is a straightforward solution from Acer for this problem.  I did, however, have no problems installing bios updates, firmware and the VGA driver for Intel graphics.

Hi guys, I seem to be having issues with my secondary hardrive (to the best of my knowledge). If I am watching  a video/movie saved on it, occasionally the video wll hang for a few seconds. If I am downloading something to it, or copying a file to it, sometimes all progress will stop/downlod will stall. Then if I try and go to a folder saved on it, windows locks up and it can't load the folder or access the HDD. Today, I was watching a movie and downloading something at the same time. The download stalled, and the movie completely locked up. When I tried to fix it, WIndows crashed and I was foreced to restart.  I have changed my power settings to never put the HDD to sleep (although it occurred to me that maybe this is just controlling the HDD windows is installed on (which is the SSD)). However if I am actively downloading and watching a movie, surely it wouldn't put it to sleep. What else can I do here? Any ideas what the problem is? Is it a faulty HDD?

I had that issue only once with one of my acer system when I was running 7Ult. I was able to fix it by dl the driver from Acers website.  Problem was from an Update I think. Would only happen when it came out of Sleep mood. Soon after I updated to 10 and the issue was over.  I would try and install the Acer Graphics driver for your system and see if that fixes things. Hi, to the group. I am seeking help to troubleshoot an issue with my VN7 notebook noted in the subject. Issue: the HDMI output on my VN7 notebook stopped working. The HDMI output was working fine. No hardware changes to notebook or external monitor since last known good. I've tested my HDMI cables and HDMI monitor using my desktop and tablet devices which all work fine to display output via HDMI on the same equipment. Hello, I did find a few threads about this but for other models, so I take my chance. I would like to buy a new ~240go SSD M 2 to upgrade my laptop. Can anyone confirm that there is actually a M 2 port inside ? I believe yes since I watched a few videos, but the laptop seller's website does not talk about it, so i'm confused. Is there any better SSD than another for compatibilty with the 792G ? I would like to use it as my main drive with Windows on UEFI in it, and the HDD I had will be used for storage. Same goes for RAM, what is the maximum RAM supported by this laptop ?

My new VN7-792G arrived a few days ago and is a very nice machine indeed. The only odd thing is that the Fan seems to be quite loud when is starts going. I had an XPS machine before this so I am used to noisy fans, but this is quite high pitched and sounds almost as if it's imbalanced and reminds me of fans in old machines that begin to whine towards the end of their life. Oddly, the noise decreases if I lift one (or both) corners beside the hinges even slightly. I've also tried it on different surfaces in case it was a vibration issue between the laptop and the table it was on, but no success. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or is this normal?

A:Acer VN7 792G Fan noise

I think I had a very similar issue on VN7 792G, a noise like whistling. I was about to return the product but I think I fixed it. You probably won't like the solution. One of the below solved my fan noise issue (I don't know which) 1- Opened the case and investigate anything that might vibrate due to fan. First I saw that Acer forgot one of the screw of the mainboard so I placed a new one and screwed motherboard firmly no prevent any vibration. Also close to larger fan plastic casing of the (vibrating) fan was touching to the (stationary) case.  I put a soft electric band in between. 2- I put a little machine oil to both fans. This part is tricky, you need to know where to put (check online), also you will need an oil with small sized needle heads. It possible to access fans after removing keyboard. I suggest not turn upside down for sometime if you decide to put oil. best,

Hello. I have a lot of issues with my Acer VN7-792G for a long time.First time I received the laptop, I had several issues with the Nvidia drivers while playing games, the GPU would overheat and freeze the laptop completely, along with a very unpleasant noise. It does that even on Very Low settings. I could finally find the answer to my issue when someone on Nvidia's forum told me to never update Nvidia drivers on laptops. (I was always updating to the latest driver through GeForce Experience)I followed his advice and got back to the driver provided by the manufacturer's website (which is 359.xx), since then no issue occured, I could play games on High/Ultra 120fps without freezing/crashing. I reinstalled Windows recently through the ISO provided by Microsoft's website. I disabled Windows Update to update the drivers, and I installed all the drivers provided by Acer's website for my computer, using my serial number. But after few minutes of playing, I still experience freeze/crash, and by that I mean the laptop completely freezes and the only thing I can do is to force shut down, holding power button for few seconds. The laptop is very hot at this point. Highest temp I could record for the GPU was around 70-80°c before it freeze/crash.So I'm starting to think that the problem isn't from the Nvidia driver anymore, since the moment I reinstalled Windows 10 (64bits). Also, apart from the GPU really overheating, now the HDD seems to heat a lot too. Hi and wellcome, First update BIOS, if you don't have the latest updates. It is highly recommended since as you can see some update the VBIOS, which has a link with the video. Also it updates the management engine which monitors various parameters (eg temperature) on the notebook. Second be sure you have installed the intel management engine drivers from the acer drivers download page. XTU will not break the warranty, but be careful because it can cause system instability if you undevolt too much. Since you have a 792G, which is bigger than any 59XG notebooks I don't think you should have any issues with thermal throttling. So I would not set the CPU to 99%. It would limit the system performance.

Well, ive had this monitor for a month or so and its worked great till now. I shut it off, went to bed, woke up and turned it on and this happened

The screen still works just fine, everything is displayed right but it is duplicating the top 4 inches of the display on the bottom of the screen. Its not 100% overlay though, about 10% and the overlay flickers like crazy and its a bit jumpy. There is also a messed up vertical line the size of a pixel about 2/3rds in from the left side of the screen.

I figure its just a piece of crap monitor and its broke, but before i get a replacement i guess i can ask here if anyone has any suggestions on how to possibly fix it.

A:Solved: Acer P236H Display Issue

First, check the Video Cable make sure it is securely plugged in at both ends. If it is and the symptoms are the same, see if you can borrow a different monitor to connect to your computer, if it too displays the same problem, then the problem is with in the computer itself, most likeley a problem with the video card.

I got my brand new laptop, my first acer laptop (as well as my life's first laptop), a beautiful V15 Nitro Black Edition. Now, with such an expensive purchase after lots of patience, I am eager to maintain it for as long as I can. So first thing's first, I wanted to know in what manner I should be charging the battery as I've seen people using their laptops as desktops since they can't run without being plugged in for very long! I know it will eventually happen to mine but how to get the maximum charge cycles? Also mine was a display piece at the hypermarket and they keep all the laptops plugged in for months? I'm guessing mine was plugged in since February (based on Mfg date).I read this Document ID 2384 on the Acer website. I think there's a contradiction. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It says UnderOptimizing battery lifeUse AC power whenever possible, reserving battery for mobile use.But Under this it saysConditions that can adversely affect the batteryUsing the computer on constant AC power. so should I have the laptop on AC power or not? And does it make any difference if I use the AC power plugged in when possible and remove the battery alltogether as I read one article citing Acer on this.(The V Nitro, doesn't seem to have an easily removable battery though, I see some fasteners)

A:To keep my Acer V15 Nitro, plugged in or not?

Hi, It's not any contradiction. If you plan to use your notebook more like a desktop, most of the time plugged in then your battery will not be very "happy". I know sounds a little bit counterintuitive but a battery which is not used, but is always maintained at full charge it will wear faster than a battery which is cycled. The point is that for a lithium ion battery to keep full charge is sort of a "stress". To maximize battery life try to use the notebook from time to time on battery (let's say once a week do a discharge and a charge). I have an V15 nitro as well and I try to use it on battery once or twice a week and after one year the battery wear level is just 6% which I don't think is high.Cycling the battery also helps the computer to read the battery acurately, thus avoiding some situations where the battery shows a different percentage than the current capacity and your notebook will shut down randomly even if windows was telling you that you still have x% of the battery.

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if I can get some help?

I've got a few issues with my laptop. Main one is that the laptop monitor didn't work so I had to connect through the VGA to my telly ......... but recently it's been temperamental when I start up, it shows the acer main screen, then the windows logo, then when the computer logs into windows the telly goes onto stand by. Now, I was restarting a few times in safe and vga modes and it comes on the telly ok but any adjustment on the properties and it again goes into stand by.

However ... I caught sight of the laptop in a different angle/light and noticed that the screen on the laptop actually does work, well kind of, it's really really dark and I can make out some menus and icons depending on which angle I move it to.

My questions are:

1. I've tried adjusting the brightness with the fn buttons and in the monitor part of the display settings but unfortunately I can't get it any lighter, is there somewhere else I can adjust brightness to bring the screen back to normal? It feels like I'm viewing it through dark sun glasses when I can see it or that the screen has a really dark tint to it

2. Would a fresh installation of xp revive my laptop or would it make no difference?

3. Obviously if there is a way to get the monitor on the laptop working again then this question isn't needed but does anyone know what I'm doing wrong when trying to hook the laptop to the telly via the vga ... Read more

A:Acer aspire 1691 display/monitor issue

If you can still make out the desktop, then it sounds like the backlight has failed. So a hardware replacement is in order.

As for the issue with the TV, it could simply be a resolution issue. Ensure you are using a resolution and refresh rate that the TV accepts. TV's with VGA input, often have very limited acceptable resolutions. Check the User Manual.

A better test, would be to simply connect the laptop to a true computer monitor and see what happens.

I recently had my Acer Aspire 5050 laptop, which used to run on Vista, updated to Windows 7. I noticed right away that the display resolution looked compressed or 'squashed' and stretched. Went to adjust the resolution but there are only two options: 1024 x 768 (what I understand to be the computer's native resolution, it is a 14.1" screen) or 800 x 600. The only display option is 'Generic PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'.

So I went to the Acer website to look at drivers, but there are no driver options for Windows 7 for my Acer model, only Vista or XP. I downloaded the VGA ATI driver that was there for vista and tried opening it in compatibility mode to no avail. I also tried Compute>System Properties>Devise Manager>Display Adapters> Standard VGA Graphics Adapter>Driver>Update Driver....which did nothing. Finally I went to try a 'regedit' hack:
Increase your screen resolution with this Windows 7 hack ? My Asus Eee PC
which also did not work.

Anyone out there have any suggestions or can tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm new to this, so maybe it's more obvious than I think! Thanks!

*Also, everything else on Win7 OS seems to be working fine as far as programs audio, etc. As far as I can tell right now, just the display is wrong.

I think there is no update for your VGA driver but to be more sure you can download windows upgrade advisor to see what is applicable to your OS:

Hello all, I have an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro VN7-592G running an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor. I was converting a video on HandBrake, and noticed a CPU core temperature of 95 degrees Celsius on ThrottleStop. Alerted by the high core temperature, I opened the window, and allowed the cold, Canadian winter air at a temperature of 3 Celsius flow through the fans, and hopefully cool down the processor. When I held the PC against the window, there was no decrease in temperature. The temperature was still hovering within the range of 95-98 Celsius, even though the air being exhausted from both condensors felt cold.I clean the condensor fins on a regular basis, and have Acer DustDefender enabled at all times.Could the high temperatures be caused by defective thermal compound? For the record, my old Sony Vaio F series had a 45 watt Core i7 processor, and it never got hotter than 80 Celsius on maximum load. I have attached a screenshot of the CPU temperature while the CPU was working at its maximum capacity, with the PC being held outside the window. Thanks!

My Acer V15 Nitro locks up when it goes into sleep mode. By running the battery down, it will start again, after it is plugged in. The key board stays lighted, but the keys don't work. This is the second V15 with the same problem. Windows 10, office and CS6 are the only programs. It doesn't do it every time. The first unit did it every 2-3 weeks and the replacement unit did it after three days.

I am a sophomore architecture student and for studio I bought the Acer Aspire v17 Nitro.
It is equipped with:

i7 intel core
860m Nvidia Geforce GTX
Windows 10
16 GB RAM
64-bit operating system with x64 based processor
Norton security
So in terms of requirements to run the many programs need for architecture including: CAD, Revit, Adobe..etc, this computer should kick ***. However, I have been running into more and more issues. For starters the touch pad has little to no response (I knew this may be a problem when I bought it. I just wanted to know if anyone could suggest a fix). The main issue is that programs are constantly crashing. For example, Word always crashes even if I have no other programs running. The same goes for Spotify and Outlook. Revit and Adobe all crash several times when I use the computer. If a program crashes and others are running, either just the one program crashes or the entire computer gives up and crashes. I paid a lot of money for a computer that should be able to run multiple design programs and this cannot even run Word.

In terms of troubleshooting, I have run security scans and computer cleaners but nothing has come up. I have looked at background apps and turned many off. I turned off many of the start up programs, but still no changes.

Any suggestions?

When a machine crashes at many unrelated tasks, it might be a problem with the RAM. Run Memtest for a few hours and see if it detects anything.

Running computer cleaners is bad. There is nothing that needs cleaning, especially on a brand new machine. And the registry does not require cleaning. These cleaner programs cause many problems.

I purchased an Acer V15 Nitro VN7-592G last week. It is the 16gb RAM model with the full HD display. I previously owned a Sony Vaio F series laptop, and had to sell it off due to a similar slightly similar issue where the CPU would throttle itself to 770 mHz on battery regardless of remaining batter level. So far, I am grateful of the fact that my V15's i7-6700HQ can run at its turbo frequency, and doesn't lock its clock speed to 770 mHz on battery power provided the charge is greater than 40%, unless I switch to power saving mode. However, only yesterday I observed that the computer would get extremely slow once the battery level drops below 40% due to the CPU throttling itself to 790 mHz according to RealTemp, and Windows Task Manager. I turned battery saver off, and changed the power mode to high performance where all CPU parameters were set to 100%. This had no effect, and the CPU just locked itself to 790 mHz unless I plugged in the laptop, and ran it again on battery power once I was at more than 40% charge. I find this highly inconvenient since the primary reason why I sold my dated (and over-priced) Sony Vaio to purchase my first Acer machine was due to the Sony's poor performance on battery life, their (Sony's) lousy customer service, and the fact I needed a powerful machine with consistent performance whether being run off battery, or AC power since I plan on using the laptop away from the convenience of an AC outlet to e... Please help! I got this laptop 23 days ago! I was aware that some batteries could have long term battery issues, so I have been taking careful care of my laptops battery. But now, as soon as I unplug it, it dies! And when it's unplugged, I can't turn it on no matter what. This is a huge problem, especially for a $1200 laptop that's only 23 days old! I just really need to know how I can fix this problem. Any assistence will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
