Word pages do not match PDF pages after conversion to PDF

Q: Word pages do not match PDF pages after conversion to PDF

Hi there,

When converting a Word 2003 file to PDF, the PDF version doesn't match the Word version; on several pages, the text on the PDF version seems to have skipped a line. This is the case with several PDF converters. Is there any way you guys can help me? That would be great!

Preferred Solution: Word pages do not match PDF pages after conversion to PDF

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So earlier today I noticed there was some issue with a lot of pages load pages loading up for me. FOR EXAMPLE.... A lot of pictures (not all)
Appear distorted like so:
In this other image you can see a page loading the HTML code
In an attempt to work this out myself, I updated my java and adobe flash shockwave to it's newest settings. But yeah.... this is where I'm at. Any help would be awesome.
I don't think this is a graphic card issue, as this is actually happening on all my computers.
I'm using the most current up to date firefox.

I appear to be having trouble with my firefox browser.
My operating system is Windows 8.1. I have an Acer Aspire V3-772G which I bought some 18 months ago.

A few days ago my firefox browser, which for no apparent reason at all, just seemed to slow to a stupendously very slow loading of pages. I had recently just been working on an issue in which I posted a thread regarding whether there was a possible virus/malware after google chrome terminated with the following message from Hitman Pro Alert:
Attack Intercepted
'Google Chrome 49' has been terminated to prevent execution of malicious code. Please check your computer for malware and software updates
As it happened, it appeared to be because of a conflict somewhere in the Google Chrome, Trusteer Rapport and Hitman Pro Alert combination, and so the only way was to change the settings on Hitman Pro Alert as advised and shown in my thread:
However, there was no malware or virus detected by my own Avast or Malwareware bytes tools, and the tools used as instructed in the thread also showed my system to have none. Also, google chrome works fine, and my computer has not slowed in any way. My fir... Read more

For the last few days I have been getting some odd behavior when I try to access my accounts on several websites. When I access the legitimate website and try to log in, I am redirected to a phishing page which asks for account information, including credit card numbers, ATM Pin, etc.

There was one other post I found here that had what appeats to be the same problem, but I have not been able to successfully remove the issue myself from following the help you provided to him. (http://forums.techguy.org/malware-removal-hijackthis-logs/736876-solved-ebay-paypal-fake-web.html)

Using OTScanIT and modifying slightly the fix script provided to the other user I was able to briefly get my Ebay account working again, but when I tried to access my bank account (Wells Fargo) I am now being redirected to the fake page again. I'm not sure what information it would be helpful to include here to help analyze what is going on. I recall having had this same problem once on another computer which is no longer experiencing the issue, but don't know what exactly I did to resolve it other than installing Avast and running a full clean (which I cannot do here, as this is a work computer that will not allow me to replace the existing virus scanning software). I do have limited installation capabilities on this machine, and have installed HijackThis and OTScanIT as well as Malwarebytes to aid in resolving this.

Please let me know what if anything I can do to fix this situation, including... Read more

Hi guys ( and girls )

I have an Acer Asspire 5332 running Vista.

A month or so ago the CD/DVD rom stopped working. Device Manager states it is unable to start and updating driver/uninstalling device etc does nothing either, other than recognise the drive as "standard cd rom" whereas it is actually a dvd rewriter. Acer tech support say that windows should pick up the driver automatically and cannot understand what the problem is. They do not provde a driver for the cd/dvd unit.

Then, in the last 2 weeks, certain web pages have failed to open, namely Hotmail and Facebook. All I get is a blank page with no error message Also videos on all sites intermittently work and don't work, saying I need to install Javascript which I already have! I have done all the usual checks and fixes ( internet options / javascript uninstall reinstall etc, as well as un-installing internet explorer itself.

Using another browser ( Safari ) opens up all pages including Hotmail and Facebook fine, but I still get the issue with the videos.

Does this sound like a virus? I have run Avast scan, and Malwarebytes and CC Cleaner. I am posting a "Hijack this log" for any braniancs to look over. Not sure if it is one problem, or several but doing my head in !!!

thanks in advance,

I suppose the title says it all, my computer has some sort of infection where every search in google in both firefox and internet explorer redirect the searches to random pages. Additionally, typing in certain addresses simply won't load where I know the page should work, such as certain links on microsoft.com. Furthermore, I have enabled Automatic Updates and it tells me that it is not enabled even though it clearly is in the settings and going to the update page through internet explorer simply does not work. I have read through various other forums here at bleepingcomputer.com and followed their instructions but nothing has fixed the problem so I figured I'd post as well and start fresh. A huge thanks in advance to whomever is able to help me out. So, where do I begin?

hello all

i have started noticing "hijacked pages,"

and that (so far, only when using "chrome," which is outdated - NOT by choice but because i am stuck with windows vista and GOOGLE will not longer support it...),

sometimes chrome will "hang" when attempting to perform operations such as "clear browsing data,

and then if i attempt to close chrome, it will make it so that system processes(?) such as my toolbar, ctrl+alt+del/task mgr, and restart will not work, forcing me to need to manually power off my computer,

and now as of today, most pages are not loading ("err_connection_failed" in chrome, but ALSO IN FIREFOX a lot of pictures in pages are not loading),

so i fear i have malware...

okay, here is the sysinfo readout:

Ok forewarned this is a high level problem.

So I had a problem with IE where it wasnt storing pages in history, I closed all my IE windows, and using ccleaner wiped the history file (I assume was corrupt) and that fixed that problem, but I made a new one, info as follows.

I normally on IE my first IE window has about 15 or so tabs loaded, which I use as reference points, for whatever reason I didnt bookmark these tabs but simply they were always loaded in the firs tIE windows after reboots etc. so basically on reboots I would close this IE windows last, and on the first IE window after reboot I would select "reopen last browsing session" from the menu to recover these tabs understood so far? What I did with ccleaner wiped this session, and those pages had hugely important info to me in them.

I have no system restore point to get it back.

I do have a norton recovery image 10 days old.

Now the new problem.

Norton recovery images are made with the system running, almost certianly I had IE open at the time. So there is no me importing IE files, starting IE and simply selecting "reopen last browsing session" as when norton did its image IE was running. So this leaves what?

The crash recovery data, when IE is running it stores data on whats currently open incase it crashes and so can recover.

In the image I have mounted there is the following folder. (Q drive)

Q:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Recovery

Inside it is various dat... Read more

A:importing IE9 recovery pages to get loaded pages back

Ok I have done it, here is how.

IE prepends its recovery files with 'RecoveryStore.'

and each session file is named like this '{9AC84612-1C85-11E3-AF5A-001B213DE643}.dat'
So a recovery file is like this 'RecoveryStore.{7ACE6B97-256F-11E3-96B2-001B213DE643}.dat'

When IE is running it has a registry key matching the name at 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Recovery\Active'
The key is without the prepend and file extension so such as '{7ACE6B97-256F-11E3-96B2-001B213DE643}'

If IE closes down successful the key is deleted from the registry.
If it crashes the key still exists, so on startup IE checks for the key and loads the associated .dat file to recover tabs.

So I have them recovered luckily.

I've pasted SysInfo below.
Whenever I enter a search on google.com, new malware search results show up.
Sometimes clicking on a link I want to get to opens up a new browser tab that I didn't ask for. Sometimes this happens even when clicking on any random space on the page, not even on a link.
The other day I opened Youtube and there were all these new Youtube videos showing up on my home page in another language that I had no interest in.
Someone else uses this computer once in a while and I think they may not be aware of what links and downloads to avoid.
I'm usually using Google Chrome.
Anyway, please help! This has been going on for a while but it's really interfering work now.

Hi newbie here so go easy on me

My mum has a realtively newly built PC (about 2 weeks old), and has XP Professional installed along with Norton Antivirus 2003.

She is using dial-up internet with an external modem, and although her default homepage (bbc) loads straight away after that browsing becomes progressively slower and slower. Some pages do not load up at all after a while and she is forced to turn off her connection and try again. She cannot access any secure sites at all (for her internet banking and buying things). She has cleared her cache to no avail.

I have been told to see if a firewall is blocking secure ports 443, 84 and/or 8443. I'm not sure how to check that? I'm not even sure she has a firewall installed at all?

Should she try Mozilla Firefox? Should I install Norton?

I've checked her dialup internet provided (lineone/tiscali) and there appears to be no problems?

Is there a way to sort pages in a word document?

Just as you can in Powerpoint's page sorter.

I Know about section breaks etc. However I am trying to piece together a lot of word doc's into a reportand am just looking at the easiest option.

A:Word: Sorting pages

Hi DaveSS ; not sure which angle to approach your question(s) from.

AFAIK you can't sort pages per se (e.g. by page #).

Go into Outline View, then check out the Insert Subdocument button on the Outlining toolbar. With this, you can "piece together a lot of" separate files in one master file & drag them around at will.

I created a word 97-2003 document with contents, index and bibliography:

The contents pages are roman numberals (i, ii).
The main body regular arabic (1-6)
The index roman numerals (i-xxv)
Bibliography (no page number)

When I send to print or convert to pdf, pages 1 and 2 of the main body become xxv.

Then everything gets mixed up and the next fex pages, which should be appendix 8, are shown with arabic numerals 1,2 etc, then it cuts back to another part of the main body of the work.

It is a mess. How do I get over this bug?

This is really urgent as it is an assignment I have to submit electronically and pdfing it is the best way to shrink it down to a size that is not rejected by the tutor's browser. (Zipping it also messes it up and it only goes down by 400KB) whereas the pdf is 1/5th of the size).

Using Word 2007, P.C.
I would like to know how to set my printing preferences to read the actual number of pages in the document as opposed to what I have set in the header/footer. Let me explain:
I have a document which is 30 pages. However, I have set section breaks so that I could set up the header and footer to start numbering page 1 on the actual page 3 (the first two pages of the document are title pages.) Anyway, the header numbers then read 1-28, with 28 written in the header on actual page 30.
When I go to print... and I want to specify which pages to print, let's say I want actual page range 17-20 tp print; well, I type in 17-20 into the field on the print box, but then actual pages 19-22 print because the printer read the header/footer page number, instead of the document's actual page number.
Can I change the printer settings to read the actual document page number instead of the header/footer number? I have never done anything like that, so I would need fairly specific directions of where to go inorder to make these changes, if at all possible; also, I am a little uneasy with Word 2007 and how to locate certain applications and settings, so I might need general help getting to the right area. Thanks so much!

Hi Windows XP users,

I try to copy a web page, and then paste it into MS Word XP, but the MS Word screen just hangs and never pastes.

I used to be able to do this with Windows Me and MS Word XP, but there is something different about the Windows XP operating system.

I tried a 'bandaid' solution by first pasting the selected text from a web site into MS Notepad, and then copying from there into MS Word XP - and this works. This leaves me to suspect that this problem has to do with the formatting feature of MS Word XP. MS Notepad doesn't use the formatting markers at the end of each sentence, as MS Word XP does.

Does anyone else experience this problem?

A:using word. Number pages individually

Yes. If you want to start numbering on page two, there are a couple of ways to do that. One is to go to page layout and select "different first page." The other is to insert a "next page" section break at the bottom of the first page, and unlink the second page footer from the first page footer.

Hi Guys

Wonder if someone can help me. I am trying to do two pages to one page printing via file print in word 2003.
When i choose two pages via the zoom option in the bottom right hand corner it prints out all the pages on single pages.
Now if i choose properties when chossing file print i can change it there but this is altering the page setup with the printer which is hardward based.
Does the software part actually work via the zoom option in word 2003?
If so how can i get this printed that way?
I have tried this on various printers, HP Laserjet's 4000, 4100, 4250 and 4350. HP 2100 printer also and they all get the same issue so i know it isn't a driver issue.

A:locking pages in word 2000

Morning Nettie,

You can do this with 'page breaks'. On the first page, where you want the page to end, just hit Ctrl + Enter, and this will make sure that text etc. from previous pages doesn't head north. Repeat process down the document.

For large muti-page documents, it's best to get the basics in first, before doing this, so you have an idea what will fit on the page in the first place.

Hope that helps.

Someone at the fire station "messed with" the road directory file I created many years ago using WORD and have maintained ever since. There are now two blank pages, except for 'footer' info, that I want to remove from the file that are in the middle of some 20 pages. The page numbering has also been corrupted beginning with the blank pages. Each page contains info on a specific road in the fire district. These are put in folders for use at the station and in the trucks, etc.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: Eliminating blank pages in a WORD doc??

They may have added page breaks. Or, more likely if "page numbering has also been corrupted beginning with the blank pages", section breaks.

Try F5 -- Go to = "Section" to track them down, and remove. Use CTRL+Shift+* to toggle page formatting on & off.

I am a new member so please excuse any mistakes I make whilst 'learning the ropes'.
I have a laptop on the work network that has started to print blank pages from MS Word and Excel (Office 2007). Other programs on the PC print perfectly but when I try and print from Word or Excel the page is blank even though the print preview looks OK. If there are any lines (e.g. underlined text) or tables/grids on the page they print out but any text does not. Nothing has been recently changed on this laptop. The printer is a networked Konica Minolta Biz Hub copier/printer and all other computers work OK with it.
The laptop (a Lenova) is running Windows 10 and Office 2007. I have tried running a repair and also uninstalled and reinstalled Word without success. I have Googled the problem but, although there seems to be plenty about blank pages, none I have found match my problem.
Any help would be more than gratefully received.

Hi guys

I have a research report about 120 pages in MS word format, and this needed to be printed as a book,
I set the cover of the book in separated file page and the summary with the other contents in a separated file that must show page numbers, I would like to put the cover and all other contents in the same file but do not insert numbers in the firts page of the cover and need to start inserting the ordinal numbers in the following pages starting from 1 till the last,

is there some techinical steps to manage this in MS word 2003 and make it one file? it would be much better and handy as one file instead of 2 parts,
will appreciate the related answers,

after scanning and OCR-processing papers I ended up with a number of Word documents
representing odd and even numbered pages. They are stored in separate folders.
Unfortunately, my scanner cannot turn pages.

Now I would like to merge these documents into one Word document, such as:

starting with page 1:
even\doc1.doc, page 2
odd\doc2.doc, page 3
even\doc2.doc, page 4

Could do it manually, but there are 200 or so pages

A macro would be fantastic, but I have no idea how to go about that.

Can somebody help?

A:Word 10: merging .doc files representing odd/even pages

I think it is doable without a macro.
Here is a trick.

Open default blank document. Click Insert menu on Office ribbon.
There is an OBJECT button on it. But you need to click on little arrow beside it and then select TEXT FROM FILE.
Then navigate to your master folder with all those subfolders with documents. Click F3 key on your keyboard and start typing
After that your computer will start to search all documents in subfolders. That might take a while depending on the number of documents. Then you need to right click inside that window and select in right click menu - View- Details, Sort by - Folder path, Ascending.
When all documents will show up in that window, make a keyboard shortcut - Ctrl+A to select ALL files and click INSERT button.

You can also sort by date, if documents were created one after another page by page. But sorting by folder path seems better to me.

Hi all. I'm pretty advanced with most Word features in Word 2003 and earlier, but have just started using Word 2007 at work. I'm trying to format a large document in book format with mirror margins and page numbers left or right depending on which side of the book they're on. Word 2007 forces you to use different odd/even page headers/footers to accomplish this as far as I can see. There are several sections, table of contents, references using bookmarks and and index.

Problem is that I have a mysterious extra page appearing between the first page (which is a section on its own) and the second page, which is where the numbering starts. All section breaks are just "next page", not "start on odd/even page". I always work showing formatting marks, so I know I haven't got errant extra lines causing an additional page.

This is also happening between some sections later in the document, some of which alternate between single and 2-column formats. All in all, I have about 5-6 extra pages.

Anyone got any ideas? I suspect it's something to do with the odd/even header/footer thing, but what can I do about this? No one I've spoken to at work has a clue what's happening either. This is driving me crazy. [Imagine an icon with steam blowing out of its ears just here]

In a continuous word table, with many pages, I cannot force the very bottom row of a page to the beginning row of the next without having a problem.

Hi lmm, welcome to TSG.

You can insert a page break before a table row without splitting the table. What version of Word are you using?

I hope this is the right sub-forum for this question.

Problem: in addition to the AutoRecover feature kicking in every 10 minutes, another auto backup is occurring every 60 seconds or so. I first noticed this 7 or 8 months ago when the document first rolled past 1,000 pages in length. Because of the length of the document, these now take 10 to 12 seconds to do their thing and this is hindering my ability to work with the document (entering additions and changes).

Current Settings:
Save Options
Checked are:
- Allow Background Saves
- Embed linguistic data
- Save AutoRecover info every (10 minutes)
- Embed smart tags

Question: is there any way I can change this auto backup sequence so that it only activates every 20 minutes or so? I am talking about the auto backup and not the AutoRecover, of course. It is one big annoyance right now because the document cannot be worked on when the auto backup is doing its thing.

Thanks, and hope someone can help,

Having difficulties scrolling multiple pages, in MS Office 2007, as scrolling stops per page and you have to click to scoll the next page. This is annoying when you have a lot of work/reports to review.

A:MS Office/word scrolling multiple pages

Solution: May not be a problem with MS word but the software associated with your scrolling device.

To solve, go to your mouse option and change scrolling from 'selected item' to the option closest to 'what's under the cursor'

Hi all,

I've recently bought a new monitor (16:9) to replace my old one (4:3). When I open Word now, at 100% zoom the monitor is wide enough to have two pages side by side. As useful as this can be for some people, I don't like it!

I've tried changing the settings myself, but have not found a way to have the 100% sized page in the middle. I have to zoom in to 120% and it's too big. I had a look on the Microsoft Office forums but nothing I found there was helpful.

Does anyone have any ideas?

So I know this should be very easy. I have a 285-page novel manuscript I'm formatting for submission. I have page numbers that start on the 3rd actual page, which is where Chapter 1 begins. I have a header but it only appears on those first two pages; it stops before Chapter 1. How do I have the header appear on every page of the doc? I googled it but it's confusing....it took awhile to get the page numbering right, because I wanted it to start where it does....I'm afraid if I mess with the header as it is, I'm in for more frustration. A simple step-by-step would be appreciated. Thanks!
