Acer laptop subwoofer noise with windows 7

Q: Acer laptop subwoofer noise with windows 7

I recently bought an Acer Aspire 7738G laptop with Windows 7. After a day or two the speakers (in fact i think it was the internal subwoofer) started to make a loud grinding noise which was intermittant but which became increasingly prevalent. It seemed sometimes to be brought on by my going online or somethin like that whilst music was playing, but sometimes started on it's own. Thinking it was a hardware problem I changed my laptop for exactly the same model. Unfortunately however after a few days exactly the same thing has started to happen.

I don't think I am the only one to have had this problem (see link below) and I wonder if it's aproblem with Windows 7 and Acer internal subwoofers. I am not a techy and all I can think to do is to take this laptop back and get a non Acer one. I'd rather not go through all that again (transferring itunes alone is a pain let alone getting the computer to perform in the shop).

Please let me know therefore if there is a simple fix to save me the trouble.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Yea a lot of us acer users have had this although the latest drivers seem to have repaired most of it so if you havent got the lastest realtek drivers i would head over there and get them latest is 2.37 i believe, also take a read through this thread Realtek, Windows 7 64RTM Crackle/static/popping good luck.

I recently bought a creative 5.1 sound system for my pc, but every now and then (usually when a new screen opens) the sub woofer makes a noise.
Ive tried several things and I think ive narrowed it down to windows sound effect or sound card. The sound effect is when there is a screen change which is being detected and played by the bass woofer. I'm not sure where I would find this in the control panel I have looked and cant see where to disable.
Regarding the sound card, if your monitor has built in speakers and your sound card is getting confused between the different systems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

A:Sound issue -- noise coming from subwoofer

I think you can find all the Windows sounds under Control Panel->Sound->Sounds tab. You can select a system sound and then hit the Play button (it's the right arrow button) to play and hear it through your speakers. Don't know why you're having the problem but is one way to check system sound playback

Hi all this is my first post here..

First of all I have an Acer 5943G model laptop. I have a weird issue since yesterday when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. Everything is working fine except that all sound is coming from the subwoofer speaker beneath the laptop instead of the R L speakers above the keyboard.

I have downloaded and updated the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers etc and have gone through the sound settings time and time again to ensure that everything is right. Everything is indeed right in the settings so I really don't know what else I can do to be able to fix this problem. I know this is not a hardware issue because the speakers were working fine on Windows 7.

I have also plugged in my headphones to test the sound that way and it works as it should, I do get stereo sound on my headphones.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated as I really don't know how to fix this after spending hours on it.
Thanks in advance.

Hey,

I am looking to buy a subwoofer that I can connect to my Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop at home. I can't afford to spend over £100 so I found this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yamaha-NXE700BL-Bass-Reflex-Speaker-System/dp/tech-data/B001K9P2S0/ref=de_a_smtd . I was wondering whether I would be able to connect this subwoofer to my laptop as for I know some laptops can get damaged if they are connected to too powerful speakers.

Any help would be much appreciated and also if you know any other good subwoofers that can be connected to laptops and are under £100 please let me know.

Thanks

A:Subwoofer - Laptop help?

Hi remaldinio, and welcome to TSG.

You would need a separate amplifier to use that speaker with your computer. You would be better off getting a full set of amplified speakers that include a sub-woofer.

EDIT: By the way, the speaker in your link is not a sub-woofer.

Hello, I own a HP Pavilion DV7 1183cl laptop with the following specs:

Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
2GB RAM
Radeon 9800M GT w/512MB

I've recently run into this problem:

Yesterday (5/13/2011), Windows told me I needed to install some critical updates. I installed them and restarted. When I restarted, I noticed that the mute button on my touchbar was red and wouldn't turn back to the on color.

I logged into Windows and tried playing some Youtube videos and stuff to see if the sound was working. It turns out it was, but the sound was only coming out of the subwoofer on the bottom of the laptop and sounded TERRIBLE. When I plug in my headphones it sounds fine except the volume doesn't go as loud as it did before. Pressing the mute button does mute the sound, but it still stays red no matter what.

So I tried resotring my system back to a point when the speakers were working to see if it was a hardware problem, and it turns out it's not. When I restore to an earlier point, the speakers work fine. The problem, however, is for some stupid reason I can't login at the restore point. I just know the speakers work because the error sound comes out of the Altec Lansings on the front, and the mute button actually changes colors.

I've spent the last 3 hours trying everything I can think of. I've downloaded new IDT High Def Audio Drivers, I've uninstilled them in hardware manager and let it reinstall itself, messed with every setting I can think... Read more

A:Laptop sound coming from subwoofer instead of RL speakers.

Check to see if the PC came with any Sound Enhancement, such as Dolby, SoundBlaster MB, etc. Could be one of those is not Windows 10 compatible and causing the problem, or may just a configuration.

One other thing you can try, even though you downloaded the Realtek. Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the Realtek sound entry to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This fixes a lot of problems and may take care of yours.

b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b from my speakers, along with other feedback. This happened awhile ago, when I first bought my computer. Muting from within Windows doesn't work, and sometimes, the sound from windows stops, to I turn the dial to >OFF, and back to >ON.

At first it was a faint noise when I moved the mouse. AND, this doesn't happen with headphones, or when the speakers are plugged into something besides the computer (like my iPod).

It is really getting on my nerves, please help :/

A:Acer speaker b-b-b-b-b noise

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply.

In this regard, I suspect that the grounding connection for the plug to which you have connected your PC is improper.

► If your power Cord is 2 Pin, then connect it to a 2 pin Plug.
► If your power Cord is 3 pin, then connect it to a 3 pin plug.

This could be the reason for such noises at times. For the above reasons, some of the capacitors on the main board might have gone bad. So, you try to sort out the same.

My new VN7-792G arrived a few days ago and is a very nice machine indeed. The only odd thing is that the Fan seems to be quite loud when is starts going. I had an XPS machine before this so I am used to noisy fans, but this is quite high pitched and sounds almost as if it's imbalanced and reminds me of fans in old machines that begin to whine towards the end of their life. Oddly, the noise decreases if I lift one (or both) corners beside the hinges even slightly. I've also tried it on different surfaces in case it was a vibration issue between the laptop and the table it was on, but no success. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or is this normal?

A:Acer VN7 792G Fan noise

I think I had a very similar issue on VN7 792G, a noise like whistling. I was about to return the product but I think I fixed it. You probably won't like the solution. One of the below solved my fan noise issue (I don't know which) 1- Opened the case and investigate anything that might vibrate due to fan. First I saw that Acer forgot one of the screw of the mainboard so I placed a new one and screwed motherboard firmly no prevent any vibration. Also close to larger fan plastic casing of the (vibrating) fan was touching to the (stationary) case.  I put a soft electric band in between. 2- I put a little machine oil to both fans. This part is tricky, you need to know where to put (check online), also you will need an oil with small sized needle heads. It possible to access fans after removing keyboard. I suggest not turn upside down for sometime if you decide to put oil. best,

A:New Acer Aspire Blue Screen shutdown & noise

Hello -

Quote:

This laptop had a blue screen and very loud noise.

Sounds like a hardware issue.

I don't see any sign of infection in that log, which is what this section of the forum focuses on. That said...your version of HijackThis is outdated. Furthermore...

We no longer use HijackThis as our initial analysis tool, as it's not nearly as detailed as the tools we do use.

I don't believe this is a malware caused issue. Had you not posted a HijackThis log in your Windows XP topic, you might have received more detailed assistance there. You may want to repost in that topic, and ask someone to remove the HijackThis log, and pursue non-malware troubleshooting for you...or create a new topic in the Hardware section, with no HijackThis log. All such logs get referred here.

As far as the missing file in the O20 line, I'm not sure how that would affect your machine. I have that file in more than one location, system32, system32\dllcache and ServicePackFiles\I386....Windows File Protection should have replaced it.

You might do a search on your system to see if it's another location, and copy it to System32. Otherwise, you way wish to run the System File Checker

Go to Start->Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit OK. Let it scan. If it finds any files missing/corrupted, it may ask for the Windows CD. Otherwise, it will auto-close after it's done.

If after all that, you think the machine is infected, due to other symptom... Read more

i recently bought an acer aspire m1640 off of someone. But when i turned it on it made a loud EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE noise. I narrowed down frow where the noise is coming fom and its coming from the lower right corner of the motherboard. Its not from the hard drive or any of the fans. it seems that its coming from a small cylinder with a hole on top of it and there is a small lithium ion battery next to it. Does anyone know whats wrong or how to fix it???

A:acer aspire wont boot noise EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

The EEEEEE noise you are referring to is coming from yur motherboard onboard speaker, and is a series of high pitched beeps. I;ve looked at the board maual and it does not refer to the different beep combinations it has.

Try powering up the Pc with the top off the case and check things such as the CPU fan is running, check all hardware is seated correctly as it more than likely will be some form of hardware failure. Also try replacing the CMOS battery (the small lithium ion battery you mentioned)

This has been driving me mad for a couple of days now. I usually work in the evening after my family goes to sleep. I am sitting in a very quiet room and predominantly just type. Occasionally a notification sound would play through the built in speakers and just before that a crackling sound would be emitted. It happens every time system plays any sound, just before going online speakers would just give out tiny crackling sound. After some research I have found out that this is due to the sound card on motherboard going into power saving mode and once it would go back online that distorted crackling would appear. A problem quite popular amongst laptop owners with Realtek sound on the motherboard. Most of the time the solution is to download a new Realtek driver from the Realtek website, go to the HD Audio Manager and turn off power management from the settings menu. It does indeed work as I have tested myself. After installing latest Realtek drivers from their website and disabling power management the crackling is gone as card never sleeps. But unfortunately it also uninstalls Dolby features that come standard with Acer audio drivers. Native drivers have Dolby but they don?t have power management settings in HD Aduio Manager. So right now I can either have native driver with Dolby sound (which I really like) and crackling (that honestly drives me crazy) or Realtek direct drivers without Dolby and no crackling. Anyone knows how I can install Dolby separat... Hi, The cracking is done as you told by the latest drivers from Realtek. I think they screwed something up. There were some reports in this topic:http://community.acer.com/t5/V-and-VN-Series-Laptops/VN7-592G-blue-screen-after-installed-Windows-10... Regarding Dolby, well download the drivers from the Acer webpage http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers And inside there is a folder called DS1 and PCEE4. In these folders are the installation files for Dolby. Run the installation from one of these folders and it will install Dobly, but it will not replace your audio drivers.

Feels like as my laptop getting hotter and hotter the noise gets louder and louder. Hello!

I'm working on a laptop right now that needs encryption.  In the past I've used TrueCrypt, and will possibly continue to do so depending on how it all plays out, but unfortunately I need to encrypt now so I went searching for another option.  Diskcryptor seems to be a good alternative from everything I've looked through and simple enough to install.

So quickly, what I did was install it, restart, then encrypt the C drive. It took approximately 10 hours, (500GB HDD).  It said it was mounted and everything seemed fine. I restarted to test that it worked out alright and Acer responds with "Preparing Automatic Repairs" --> then --> "Diagnosing PC" --> then --> "Attempting Automatic Repairs" and finally when that all fails it pops up to a screen saying "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC"

I can either Shut Down or go to Advanced Options.

Under Advanced Options I get:

"Continue: Exit & continue to Windows 8" -> Which promptly returns to attempting automatic repairs.
"Troubleshoot: Refresh or reset your PC, or use advanced tools" -> Which has three options

"Refresh your PC: If your PC isn't running well, you can refresh it without losing your files" -> Didn't want to try yet because the drive is encrypted, I have yet to put the password in so I was afraid it might try replacing supposedly "corrupt" files

Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

In particular run a full Disk Check from DVD or Repair CD System Recovery Options Command Line, followed by SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot.

If these fail to help work through the other steps in order until if necessary you run Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall. You can rescue your files at any time using that step.

Then, used Win Media Creator again (after I also deleted Malwarebytes Anti-malware & also Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit & SuperAntiSpyware. After fully downloading Anniv Update (Win 10 AND Updates), reverted back after new Win 10 and 22% of updates. And, then AGAIN after I had disabled Bluetooth drivers, I downloaded Anniv Update & again at the 22% mark of the updates to the new Win 10 Anniv download, reverted my machine back to the previous Win 10.Anyone heard of this? Any suggestions? Why is it at the 22% mark that the machine restarts (which is the second restart during the Anniv installation) and displays that my machine is being returned to previous version of Windows? Thanks in advance. To clarify: After the entire Anniversary Update downloads without problem, the Windows 10 Anniversary part installs without problem. I just had to share this with someone (and I doubt my friends would be that interested), but after a fresh install of the RC on my Acer 8930G laptop, everything works brilliantly (which is didn't really for the beta build). The changes are (using the software in the ACER directory on C:, apart from some x64 drivers for hardware from the ACER FTP site):

Fingerprint Reader now works at logon (no big X over it)
Launcher installed okay, and I assume this is why (and this is the killer) the multi-media touchpad now works perfectly (and not just the mute button, sometimes). Volume control works, and the lights actually show the right button too.
Acer Arcade (a pile of rubbish, but you need it for blue ray) installs okay, and some of it works.
Using the x64 drivers for everything really helps, and the SD card reader now reads other cards again.
Sound drivers install properly.
Synaptec Touchpad installs properly

Things which still need tweaking:
Acer Arcade, try playing a DVD or Blueray, and the resolution goes crazy, and only the top left quarter of the screen shows, even after both updates. I haven;t installed any video drivers though, not brave enough yet, as I've heard some bad things about the nVidia Windows 7 drivers (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, and I will try them).

But i have a question. In vista when i go into computer it shows all my drives like, BD drive, SD Card reader, Magicgate card reader, and hd dvd drive. But in win7 it only displays the bd drive. However if i insert a memory card only then it shows up under Computer. Is this correct?

I have an Acer that is less than 2 years old. A few months back when I finally updated to win 10, my computer stopped working. No matter what I did I got a black screen without even a cursor. Miraculously it started working on its own. Last week it stopped working and I was prompted to reload windows 10 and completely reboot. After doing that it is a whole new problem. The computer keeps going through startup and then when it's gets to a screen asking me to choose my operating system, both choices being windows 10 volume 4, I'm stuck. I have tried refreshing, resetting, everything...it tells me it can't be done. Please help!

Hi, Nick newbie here.

My Acer laptop (Aspire 4920G) can't initialize Windows. When I turn it on, after the Acer logo shows, comes a blank screen with a cursor. OS is Windows Vista. What can I do? Would want to restore with my recovery disc but important files and applications are still inside. Is there a way to restore Windows without having to resort to the recovery disc?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Hi guys,

I am new to forums and have a relatively noob level of computer experience so please be nice! I have built a my own pc before but this questions is about my laptop.

I was given a laptop by a family member who lives in spain, I live in the UK. Its an Acer Aspire 5730( i think!) laptop running Vista Home Basic in SPANISH!!!!

I have coped with it since May 2009 but its doing my head in now. I was thinking of rolling back to XP and reinstalling but they dont publish XP drivers for the laptop.

my friend gave me a copy of Windows 7 in English and said install it as Windows 7 will find the drivers for my laptop automatically!! I wanted to know if this is actually true that windows 7 will find my drivers for me????

sorry if this is extremely noob of me to ask!!

A:Windows 7 on a Spanish Acer Laptop

I made a clean, Windows 7, install, while on the internet. After I was installed all I had to do was install my programs. So my answer is probably, yes, they will be installed. It is impossible to guarantee what will happen in your particular situation. Based upon all my knowledge, I would make the install, while connected to the net. Good luck.

Does anyone know where I can download a device driver for the CD-DVD±RW drive in an Acer Extensa 4602Z laptop that will work in Windows 7 ?

Acer's website doesn't offer such a driver for Windows 7. And the only site that "claims" to have such a device driver wants $30.00 to download it !

Any suggestions ?
Thanks !!

Hi everyone,

I have an Acer Aspire 3000 with a serious problem, it won't load Windows XP and Windows XP is the installed OS.

What happened before the error:
tried to install Norton Systemworks 2006. Before this, computer was working fine, and yes, I did scan it for viruses. None were found.
computer had a partition, but the partition was removed.

Now, I got this computer from a confused cousin, and the history is as follows;

She bought the computer new. However, there was this strange partition in there that seemed to be duplicating everything (or so she told me), so she took it to a friend to have the partitions removed. Okay, the computer worked fine after that. Actually, better than fine, it worked better than it had new. I know, lol, because I tried using it once before and again after.

Now, flash forward a few months and her free trail of McAfee that came with the computer ends and she realizes that she needs some sort of security on it. So she buys Norton as suggested by another friend of hers. Knowing I know something of computers (and she's not all that sure), she gets me to install Norton.

I do.

And upon re-starting, I get after the Acer load screen a black screen with "Load error! Press any key to reboot." I press enter, but nothing happens.

So, in it goes to the friendly computer guy who uses the disks that came with the machine to restore it, and it comes back exactly as it was before I installed Norton, only, minus all her saved stuf... Read more

Boot normally -- it hangs on "Starting Windows" animation forever.
Boot safe mode -- it bluescreens.
Boot with a recovery CD (or try Repair Installation directly without a CD) -- it hangs on the green loading bar forever.
I dual-boot Ubuntu and can get into the Ubuntu partition fine so I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with the harddrive, but the Ubuntu partition is tiny and I rarely use it and can't access my Windows files anyway.
Is there anything I can try that'll help repair whatever happened? I just want to run a checkdisk utility or something similar that'll repair whatever got botched.

A:Can't boot into my Windows 7 64-bit Acer laptop

If you're using GRUB to dual boot then it can corrupt Win7 beyond repair. We see these literally every day here. The way to set it up safely is on separate HD's booted via BIOS Boot Menu, or this method: Dual boot Ubuntu-Win7

To start Win7 you should mark the Win7 partition Active, then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 starts on its own and holds the System Active flags, then follow the steps in the tutorial in first paragraph. Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two)

Subwoofer and Sound  issue :  Windows 8.1 pro all sound worked fine;  Windows 10 lots of issues with sound. I set system up to use stereo speakers left and right this works as expected tinny and unacceptable . Set up to use subwoofer in 2.1 speakers and using varied sources of sound is a mix bag as to what works. some sources voice is distorted through sub background sounds through left and right speakers while others sources no sub at all just tinny sound,  If I use edge to go online some sound is 2.1 as should be but others web site distorted or no sub. Use Acuradio no sub at all.  Use Homerun tv tuner few channels work ok with sub most distorted or no sub. use hdmi input from a rogers cable box no sub. use my own audio files no sub. wonder if that ___ HDCP crap  is at fault.  I Have tested with Beats audio control  and  just Windows 10 default audio no difference all updated drivers done spent hours on this issue.Totally unacceptable behavior using windows 10.   Good sound is a must including subwoofer on all sources as was case in windows 8.1. I bought this system because it had a dedicated Subwoofer output jack wish my HP laptop did.May 22 2016 only a few days for my option to revert back to windows 8.1 or will be stuck with Windows 10.  This is not a cheap or Old computer There should be no issues upgrading This system to windows 10 at this late date. Ok I may seem repeating the thing posted before by some guys but it's a real trouble for me.My system's specs are as;
Dell N-5110 Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Service Pack 1
Ram 4 GB
When I plug in Creative SBS A320 Speaker System - 2.1 , I can hear sound but there is no bass at all with music playing.I tried many solutions/fixes but can't get rid of this annoying thing.I have installed Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and also have pre-installed Dell Audio by IDT.I checked the Bass Boost in Speakers=>Enhancements, Installed/Re-Installed drivers/ Checked pins.I really don't wanna mess up with my drivers again so decided to ask some reliable expert like you people.Speakers are perfect with other devices except for my Laptop.
Do I need any Audio Manager to install on my system? Can I solve my problem you know how empty it feels without Bass.
(By the way Like many others, My system speakers are also dead for no reason.Cant hear anything without external sound system/headphones)

A:Bass and subwoofer not working in Windows 7 64 bit

First, you must use the Dell supplied drivers. Non-Dell drivers in many cases will either not work or not work correctly.

Here is the correct Dell IDT driver for the N5110. Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Install that and then see if it fixes it. As you have installed an incorrect driver, the RealTek, you may have to completely uninstall all sound drivers before installing the correct one.

I purchased a new Asus laptop a few weeks ago with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. The laptop has Conexant Cocoa II High Definition SmartAudio speakers. The problem I'm having is in regards to the sound I am getting from both my laptop speakers and my external speakers which plug into the headphone port not having any bass. When I have my external speakers plugged into my old laptop running Windows XP the sound is fine and all speakers and subwoofer work, so I know it is all wired properly. When I unplug from my old laptop and plug it into my new one with Windows 7, there is no bass being played. The subwoofer doesn't work and the bass that usually comes from the speakers is not present, and turning up the subwoofer doesn't do anything. I've tried to use the "Bass Management" enhancement feature in the speaker properties, but it has no effect. The only thing I've been able to find that will lead to the sound having bass, is when I enter the set-up for the "Room Correction" feature in the enhancement tab for the speaker properties. During the set-up, the sound has bass, but as soon as the set-up finishes the sound returns to having no bass. The odd part is when sound is playing out of just the laptop speakers, the "Room Correction" set-up menu causes bass to be played out of them too. So I know my laptop has the potential to play bass, it just seems like something is stopping it. I cannot find any equalizer feature. My laptop didn't have Realte... Read more

I have an Acer Aspire Laptop that I am getting very frustrated with. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. My son had this laptop origianlly and got so frustrated he just stuck in the top of his closet for a few years. Now I'm needing
a computer and he gave me the laptop. I have researched and done so many different things I'm ready to pull my hair out. I decided to make sure everything was backed up and ran the eRecovery Program on here from Acer back to the Factory Default settings. I
have uninstalled the McAfee Security Suite and added VIPRE Antivirus Home. I also uninstalled Bing Bar (I have no use for it), newsXpresso (no use for it), Norton Online Backup, Times Reader. I tried to do a manual update for Windows and I'm still getting
that error code. Please help.
