Clean install Win7 on Dell Inspiron 1525: 0x80070570

Q: Clean install Win7 on Dell Inspiron 1525: 0x80070570

I'm trying to do a clean installation of Windows 7 x86 on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop that I bought in July 2008. It's been running Windows Vista 32-bit without any trouble. Yesterday I purchased the Windows 7 Professional 32-bit upgrade from Digital River and downloaded the ISO. I've burned it onto two separate DVDs using different software and a different computer each time (the second time I used Alcohol 120% and made sure that it was on the slowest setting). Now I'm downloading the iso again.
Each time I try to install it (which has been many times, now, trying different configurations of partitions, etc) I get the error message "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"

I've read through just about every thread I could find on this site and others and nothing seems to help. The only thing I haven't done is mess with the RAM, but I'd prefer not to do that as I don't have any experience opening up laptops (although I have built three desktops).

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Clean install Win7 on Dell Inspiron 1525: 0x80070570

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Clean install Win7 on Dell Inspiron 1525: 0x80070570

Try Google. I found these two:

When you see the error "0x80070570 can't access files" on install click --> Cancel ---> you will be returned to the "Install Now" startup screen and - WITHOUT REBOOTING - just re-start the install.

you should type crc checksum into a search engine and download a program that allows you to check if the contents on the disk is the same as the iso file.

My home desktop is connected to a wireless router through AT&T U-verse and it's broadcasting just fine. I can see the name and everything when I try and connect on my laptop but there is always an error that brings me to a troubleshooting screen. I've made sure the password is correct by going to Start-Run, IPCONFIG and then typing my IP address into the address bar in my browser. I dont know what else I can do, I feel like I've tried everything! Help please.

A:Laptop (Win7 Dell Inspiron 1525) won't connect to desktop (XP Dell) wireless router

Sometimes, you need to replace the router.
Sometimes, you can call your service provider and ask them to take a look on line to see if the subscription needs to be refreshed.
But often, all that is needed (despite the fact that it is a lot of work) is to uninstall your existing system, then reboot, and reinstall everything.
You might also find success by looking at your device manager in Windows to see if you have any grey, red, or yellow flags by any related device. That may show you have a permanent hardware failure if you cannot restore it, then you are off to the store or your provider for a new cable modem or router.

I have just purchased Windows 7 Pro 32bit for my Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop and booted from the Windows 7 DVD. After a considerable time, the initial language selection screen opens but there's no mouse pointer to allow me to continue from this point. I tried re-booting from the DVD several times in case a driver had failed to load into ram, however the installation stops at that point as I cannot select anything. I tried every key on the keyboard and also tried plugging in a USB mouse to one of the USB ports and re-booting. Still not way to proceed without a mouse pointer.

I upgraded the ram to 4Gb and tested this on the previous OS (XP) and it was working fine. I have installed a new hard drive and was intending to let windows format and partition it for me, however I cannot proceed with the installation. I can only think that my Windows 7 DVD doesn't contain a mouse driver for this model, however I did check on various sites that Win 7 would install on my model and many people seem to have managed to do this. The disc and key cost ?50 so I don't want to have to buy another one. So I installed from this disc onto my desktop PC and it installed with no problems, so the DVD must be OK (for my desktop at least).

I have installed many operating systems but this is a new one on me, I don't know how else I can get this OS onto my laptop, can anybody advise me please?

Thanks in advance.
Dave.

A:How to install Windows 7 pro (32bit) on Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I was able to tab to the button named Next on that language selection screen. I was also able to change other items via the arrow keys once tab put the list in focus.

Do you see the focus change when tab is pressed? If not, then maybe the keyboard is not being recognized either.

OK, so I'm having this issue with Lenovo G500 (500+8GB SSHD, 4GB RAM, UEFI).
I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 (x64) on this laptop for three days now.
I tried different methods for creating a bootable USB drive (Rufus, WinToFlash, manual), in both UEFI and BIOS (Legacy) modes, both got me a 0x80070570 (missing or corrupt file).
I have the official ISO from Microsoft DreamSpark and I tried around three other downloadable images of Win8.1 in both modes, all gave me the error at some point of Step2. I also tried various UEFI configurations, SATA compatibility mode etc.

Please don't point me to this site's tutorials (create bootable drive and doing a clean install), tried them all with no success.

I also can't remove RAM sticks (some suggest that), my computer is still under warranty and I want it to stay that way.

Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine was given a Dell Inspiron 1525 and the hard drive had died. I replaced it with a new one. It had Vista on it. I had a copy of Windows XP Pro, and installed it, along with SP-2 and 3. I did get the drivers for ethernet and wireless installed, and it actually updated to IE8. The problem is that the only cites that  IE will connect to is MSN and Bing. Anything else, I get an error that says IE cannot display the webpage. When diagnose connection is run, I get the message:

Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS, or FTP. this is probably caused by the firewall settings on this computer. Check the firewall settings for the HTTP port(80), HTTPS port(443), and FTP port(21).

This is a clean install, and no other programs, ie antivirus or spyware, have been installed. IE Even Microsoft Update gets the same message. IE works with MSN and Bing, so it is not the internet connection.

Can someone please help me get this solved? My friend did not have enough money to buy a better OS,and I had XP just laying around.

A:Dell Inspiron Clean Install XP Pro, IE 8 problems

I would not be giving your friend XP especially if all they plan on doing is browse the internet and check email along with some online purchases. Depending on how much RAM is on the computer I would look at installing a linux distro.

If you select Safe Mode with Networking can you connect to other sites?

If that doesn't solve the problem reset the XP firewall. Open a command prompt and type netsh firewall reset.

Use OpenDNS servers. Flush the DNS cache after changing the servers.

Sometimes the Dell drivers are wonky. Right click the Wifi adapter in Device Manager. Select Properties and under the Details tab select Hardware Ids in the dropdown box. Copy and post the first line.

Hi All,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that has completely died. I'm not sure what happened to it exactly, as there is not evidence of a drop or a spill, but there are no signs of life whatsoever. I took the battery out, and plugged in the adapter. I know the adapter works fine as the little green light comes on when it's plugged in, and I tried it in another laptop in which it worked. When I hit the power button nothing happens. No lights turn on, or flash, no sounds are made...nothing. It's lifeless. I was thinking about just hitting eBay and ordering a new motherboard, but does anyone know if this is the right thing to do? I don't have the $100 bucks to throw down without being certain so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Try the repair option.

There, you should find an option to run Startup Repair. Try that, maybe even more than once.

You should also see an option to open a command window. In that window, run a disk check:

chkdsk /r

Note the results, and in particular, if any bad clusters are found (Bytes in Bad Clusters).

Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange problem when installing Windows 7. At the file expansion stage, error code 0x80070570 appears and my installation fails.
Funny thing is, I installed 7048 from a DVD burned image 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. Downloaded 7057 and durned the .iso to DVD and when trying to install to formatted partition this error appeared. Since then I can't re-install 7048 either!
This is driving me crazy, I've tried different DVD drives, re-burned the .iso's at slow speed, but no luck.
Anyone managed to resolve this problem?
BTW, I am installing x64 versions...
Thanks

Windows 8.1 With Bing is only available for computer manufacturers to be used as pre-installed OS on low end budget laptops and notebooks. It is not available to consumers as a stand alone installer.

To reinstall Windows 8.1 With Bing you need to use the recovery media to restore the computer to factory settings. Consult the manual of your computer to see how the recovery is done.

Just purchased a Dell 7359 laptop but the HD that it came with is incredibly slow.  Laptop felt like something 20 years old.  I decided to purchase an SSD for it and picked up a 480GB Eco3 Mushkin.  I want to do a clean install so I downloaded the Win10 Dell recovery media and am following the steps from here:   I created a bootable USB drive and was able to follow the steps until I selected "Recover from a drive" as per the instructions.  Regardless of whether I chose "Just remove my files" or "Fully clean the drive" the following screen shows "There was a problem recovering your PC" with "Cancel" being the only option.
I'm at a loss here... I tried redownloading the image 3 times and got the same result.  I tried it with the SSD unallocated and also with a NTFS formatted c: partition.  Is the image Y53FWA00_W10x64ROW_core(DL).iso for this laptop incorrect?  Is there a checksum I can use to check against the file I have.  How can I figure out what the "error" is that is preventing the install from continuing?

What's the 7-character service tag number on the sticker of that Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop?

-------------------------------------------------------------

If you've done a hard drive format and clean reinstall of Windows Vista, it needs to be upgraded to SP1 and then to SP2 before you download and install all the post-SP2 updates.

You've obviously done something wrong because it's impossible for the hard drive to fill up from just doing what you say you've done.

I had to replace my ac adapter and in the process of taking my laptop apart I managed to break a cable ribbon retaining clip. It's a square shape with only three sides. One side is open. I doubt you will find the clip itself for sale but you might find a broken motherboard that has the same type on Ebay.

The clip pushes down on the ribbon to ensure good contact in the socket. If you still have the parts of the broken clip you may be able to glue them together or fit the largest piece and put tape over it to keep it in place.

You can run Dell diagnostics on the drive to rule out failure . . if it has failed, you will have to reinstall everything on the new drive.

If they were able to successfully extract the data, you may just need to run chkdsk on the drive to get it back

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me as my computer is out of warranty.  On Thursday, my Dell Inspiron 1525 (bought in 2008) running Vista Operating System was working perfectly.  No issues at all.  On Friday morning, I went to turn on the computer and the 2 blue lights on the bottom left (the power and the one beside it) light up, the computer sounds like it is going to boot and then it beeps once and dies.  It will continue to do this over and over every few seconds until I turn off the power manually.
I have tried the trick of taking out the battery and the cord, pressing the power button and then plugging the battery and cord back in, but it still did not work.  The computer will not boot using just the cord (and not the battery) and vice versa.  Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening or how I could fix this?
Thank you in advance for any help you could offer.

hi everyone... my dell inspiron 1525 that's about two years old, and has had to operate (most of the time, continuously...) under terrible conditions - smothered ventilation and, oven-hot, is now beeping...

...this summer it seemed the battery went (it would not work unless it was plugged in at all times), and then the fan started running nearly constantly and it would be so hot that it would burn my fingers and often shut off (i've got a cooling fan now, but i don't think it's helping, probably too little, too late), and of late i notice that it is sometimes making a soft click-pause-click sound with occasional louder clicks (the sound of a latch being opened/closed) ...although, now i recall that it may have made that sound once in a while, even when it was new, but maybe i never realized that it could have been doing that because it was critically hot and the hard drive was being damaged...
and now finally it has started making an occasional, small but high pitched, single beep that sounds like it's coming from the hard drive. is this a warning alarm that the hard drive is about to die very soon?

i hated having to run my 'baby' under these conditions and know i'm probably fortunate that it has served me for this long

Do you know if that machine is Win 7 compatible at all, drivers aside?

I wouldn't get frantic about drivers.

Your Windows install disc should have most of them; you might get a few more from Windows Update.

I would go to Dell's website and download your Ethernet (NIC) driver in case Windows doesn't install it. It's the most important driver as you need it to get on the net.

Of course, it wouldn't do any harm to download all possible drivers from Dell, but I wouldn't necessarily install them. See how Windows own drivers do for you.

After you install and get updated, inspect the functionality of your hardware and take a look in Device Manager. If anything is goofy at that time, then look around for other drivers.

Hello all,

I just finished wiping a friends laptop with a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro SP3. A couple days later I went to use it after it installed Microsoft Office 2007 Pro Plus. IT was extremely slow afterwards. Extremely slow means it took 15 minutes just to pull up the Start Menu. I removed all traces of Office and it was still slow so I did a clean install on Windows Vista (Which it shipped with) however the install itself is taking ages as well... Can anyone tell me what has happened??? I am at a loss and I just want this thing to start working again. I have also tried resetting the BIOS back to default settings and still nothing!

Could be a simple hardware problem..make sure everything in bios is reading correctly (amount of ram, CPU clock speed, etc).

If its not the above, IDK. new OS would be first suggestion, but apparently you did that already.

I am wanting to upgrade my old 1525 for schoolwork, by putting an intel Core2Extreme X9000, 4GB of 800mhz DDR2 RAM, and a 500GB Samsung Evo SSD. The main question I have, is that if the X9000 will be a better choice than the T9500? Obviously would go for the X9000 (not just for bragging rights). But will the X9000 work with the inspiron 1525?

Cheers,
hman out

My four year old tossed my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop across the room today, and since then, it isn't booting.

It reaches Vista's loading screen, where you see the moving bar and "© Microsoft Corporation," but it doesn't go past that point. Initially, I heard a clicking sound.

I tried booting it in Safe Mode, but the same thing happened. I also tried booting it from the Vista DVD, but got the same problem.

I took the hard drive out and looked at it, and couldn't see any visual damage.

I ran the Windows Diagnostics tool, and got the following error code:

Error code 0142

Error code 2000-0142

Hard drive 1 - self test unsuccessful status 79

I've seen reports of people having similar problems that were fixed by a replacement hard drive, but I'm wondering if I can get the data off of this one first. Is it worth trying to find an external USB drive enclosure, or is the drive too damaged?

And how can I get my laptop running again? It's not under warranty anymore.

Thanks for any help!

I would buy an external wd passport harddrive.
Take the hard drive out of your laptop...2 screws on botom of the unit.
set it down and take a picture to remember the orientation of the black plastic pull cover.
Take the wd external apart..it will slide out..its a little tricky the first time.
now switch the covers between the 2 hard drives and put the usb adapter on the old hard drive and slide evevything back in the case about 90 percent of the way.
push the hdd into the laptop...be sure to put the pull handle back on.
Use you windows dvd and put on windows
then the drivers from the drivers and utilities disk

now plug in your old had via the usb port and see if you can read the files...alot of times you can recover many of the files

Note..when booting the vista dvd
hit power start tapping f12 light and fast
then select the dvd rom from the list to boot from

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 which has gone haywire. I was using it a few days ago when it just shut down for no reason. Upon booting it went to a black screen with a white blinking cursor.

I have tried to boot it into safe mode = not working at all.
I have tried to use recovery console = not working at all.

The only F-keys working are F2 and F12. Neither of which are helping in repairing my laptop.

I tried and tried again to reboot but nothing. I then left it overnight thinking it might have booted by the time I got back to it, but nothing.

Using my daughters laptop I downloaded Hirens boot cd, had a look through that and run an antispyware app. Rebooted and still nothing. Tried to boot from hard drive, black screen. I don't know what else I could use from the disc which might help.

A friend had a copy of spotmau bootable cd. I tried that and running the emergency kit section and then windows recovery I went through each option one by one. However it failed on the registry recovery.

I could have used the registry recovery but I have no idea where the registry file would be, so I left it at that.

There's also an option to recover from an image file. But I can't get it even though there is a Dell backup image on there.

I have the Dell recovery console built in but it ain't happening because I can't access it, it's just this black screen.

Can anyone help in getting me up and running again?

When I turn on my laptop I choose the option "Start Windows Normally" from the screen that appears. Once I choose that option my laptop begins to boot up, then it goes to a blue screen with some white words for a second or two, then to a pure black screen with no light being emitted for about ten seconds, after that it turns of and restarts. This happens whenever I turn my laptop on.
I've had it for about three years.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, once you get back into Windows, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Scanners (read the details at the link)

My daughters computer keeps restarting windows over and over and over again.  I cannot get past the loading windows section.  I can click the f8 and there is the list to start in safe mode and other modes as well as start from last known boot or something like that... I clicked them all and none took me anywheres except to try and restart windows.  I have tried everything I know.. (which is not much) please someone help!!!!

A:HELP My Dell Inspiron 1525 keeps restarting

Hi KristineP42,
Welcome to Dell community,
I am sorry to hear that the system is not working to your satisfaction. In order to help you we need to find out what is it that is causing the system to behave this way, so to isolate this issue I need you to perform a few steps and observe couple of things.
Please run the tests on the system to launch the PSA+ Diagnostics, perform one of the following actions:
Hold down the <Fn> key while pressing the power button.
Turn on the system, press <F12> at the initial Dell? logo screen, and select Diagnostics from the boot menu.
Let me know if it returns any error code.
Also, you can take the system in the BIOS by pressing the f2 key at startup and observe the system there and check if it stays there without restarting.
Let me know your findings. Glad to be of assistance.

My Laptop over heated today and I removed the back plate to gain access to clean out the fan ect... Once I tried to boot the computer up, everything flashed at me like always but then turned off, the screen remained black.
I?ve done a little research via googled and I have tried .....

1) Removing the AC power lead and the battery and switched them about to see if it would resolve, but resulted in the same issue as stated above.
2) Holding the power button down for 10/20 seconds without the laptop having power and with power. Then powering up.
3) I?ve pulled the HDD and the memory as instructed by the Dell support site (When power was disconnected) and booted, switch the memory about and booted a number of time. Everything was re-connected properly.

This is driving me totally mad as I need the laptop due to work and other reasons, I paid £550 about four years ago so it?s no longer under warranty, also none of the settings where changed before the issue began.

I would be grateful for any advice or assistance,So what is the possible issue that I?m having, is my motherboard fried or is it something else?

I am helping a friend that has a 18 month old Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop running Vista Home Premium. Her hard drive is failing and it will be necessary to replace the hard drive.

I have been able to go in and use an external hard drive to save all of her picture, docements, etc.

I also saved the restoration partition that was put on the hard drive.

Here is my question. When I install a new hard drive, I assume that I should next install the Vista Home Premium from the included disk. Does it make any sense to reintroduce the restoration partition which I have saved on the hard drive. I could set up the partition when I first install Vista Home Premium.

My thinking is that I then could start the restoration process and thus have the computer installed with all the programs it originally came with.

I would need help with the following:

1) How to set up the restoration partition when I first set up Vista on the new hard drive. I can determine from the size of the files within the partition
how big it should be.

2) How to start the restoration process after I have the files for the restoration partition installed. on the computer. (I know on some computers
you would choose F10 or F11 to start the restoration process!)

3) Is it really worth the bother to go through all of this. I DO HAVE THE VISTA INSTALLATION CD AND THE DRIVERS!!!

Thanks for any and all thoguhts on this. I appreciate all your ideas.

The only F keys that work are F2 for setup and F12 for boot menu and control alt delete only resets the computer to the black screen. Please help me fix my computer.

Hey everyone, I am new to the forums and generally new to Windows too (always have had Apple products - don't shoot).

I am a Design Engineer, and the past few years I have been running Windows XP, then to Windows 7 via Boot Camp on my iMac with Pro/E WF4 (now Creo Elements..). Anyway, I decided to bite the bullet and get a Dell refurbished workstation.

As Ordered:
- Dell T5400 Refurbished
- e5440 Quad Core 2.83GHz
- 2x 500GB SATA HDD
- Quadro FX 4600
- Windows Vista Business
- 16GB ECC FB RAM

As I will be using this primarily, and most likey only for, Creo Elements I ordered the following parts that I will be installing:

- AMD Firepro V4900 1GB
- Crucial M4 128GB SSD SATA III
- Windows 7 Professional x64
- Soyo 24" MVA 1920x1200

I read through the Sticky "How to do a Clean install of Windows 7" and a few other very informative posts on here, but have never done much at all with Windows. As far as setting the computer up (everything should be here tomorrow) I assume these will be the steps to take:

1) Replace video card with V4900
2) Replace 1x 500GB SATA with 128GB SSD (I ordered one cable and SSD->3.5" bay adapter, couldn't find a definitive answer on what all I need to physically install the SSD...)
3) Plug in monitor, mouse, keyboard and power cable
4) Turn on and....?

I want to just use the SSD as a boot drive for Windows 7 Pro x64, and also install Creo Elements and possibly Lightroom 3. Will it automatically recognize the SSD? Wha... Read more

A:Dell T5400, Clean Install Win7 Pro x64, SSD, V4900 - Settings?

Follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which are the same for retail. Unplug all other HD's and peripherals during install to SSD.

Depending upon how it performs you may want to adjust SSD Alignment - Windows 7 Forums. I would consult with the tutorial's author and SSD/imaging expert Wolfgang on this and updating your firmware correctly.

Install Programs to SSD for best performance. If it fills up I'd install only rarely used ones to HD.

Best way to link to data on HD is to create a set of User folders similar to your Named User folders, then rightclick on each to add to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. This is more stable than actually moving the User folders to the HD which can present problems we have found here. When you click each Library you'll see the C and D folders within it, so if files pile up in the C (SSD) folder simply drag them to the D (HD) one.

Type Disk Defragmenter in Start Search box, click on Schedule box and uncheck Scheduled Defrag.

My Dell Inspiron 6400 is 13 months old - has Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. My grandson tried to uninstall Vista and replace with XP. It didn't work so I reinstalled Vista HB. I have a 19 GB folder "Windows.old" that I don't want. I don't find where I can custom an install without having that file. Help?

A:Clean Install Vista Home Basic On Dell Inspiron 6400

Windows.old is a backup of the old OS (in this case, it's probably the XP installation). I'd suggest exploring it first to see if it contains anything that you want - then delete it to reclaim the space on your system. Also, run a defrag after deleting it so that they system will effectively utilize the space right away.

Hi there,

So I have spent the last few days troubleshooting the problem, I have tried most of the solutions I have found online, but still I get the 0x80070570 error at 14% of the install process. I have reformatted the hd prior to trying as well.

some random observations:
I have run hd diagnostics and everything passed
I notice that in the BIOS setup utility that there are 3 SATA HDDs listed though I only have the one 'internal one' and no peripherals
I have downloaded and burned (and burned to USB) the .ISO file about five times with the same result
I haven't tried removing RAM because I only have one chip (4 gb) and I assume I cant have 'no' RAM to proceed

As I am sure you can imagine, it is driving me absolutely crazy.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, even on Christmas Eve!

Thanks for reading,

A:clean install failure (0x80070570 error) on a lenoveo t410s w ssd

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup to enable Legacy BIOS if present. Next check BIOS Boot order for an EFI Boot Disk and if present remove it, set DVD drive first to boot, HD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.
