Q: MS Exchange server issue

The office is running Windows 2000 server and MS Exchange server with approx. 6 machines connected. When anybody in the office e-mails, the recipient is getting a different looking e-mail address than the one it is coming from. For example, if [email protected] sends an e-mail the recipient sees the e-mail coming from [email protected]. When the recipient tries to reply to the e-mail they get a "non-deliverable" message. What could be the cause of this and why would it be happening to everybody in the office at the same time? Thanks.

Look at your user settings in Active Directory. Generally, email accounts are the same as the user name unless you set it up manually or set up a policy that creates email accounts in the format you mentioned.

we're running out of room on our exchange server and want to prolong it's life before we upgrade to exchange 2003. if we run ESEUTIL.EXE, will them "compress" the priv.edb file?
does anyone have any suggestions?

Is there a problem getting a larger hard drive? You will definately need a larger one once you upgrade. Another option would be a second hard drive and move the databases and log files to the new drive. this will also boost your performance a bit.

Hi all. I have a 123 gig hard drive on a windows 2003 server with 3 gigs of free space. all user's documents and desktop are redirected to a different drive, but the drive hold our exchange sever and the network profiles.

When I look at the properties, there's 3 gigs free, but when I analyze with Win Dir stat, it shows exchange is eating 50 gigs and, well that's it. I assume this is because windirstat doesn't have the permissions to read into the profile's folders, but I've opened a few (by taking ownership of past users) and the profiles are only 20 megs or so. I'm wonder where my other 50 gigs went.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

We've been having intermittant issues with Outlook 2007 "not responding", hanging up, freezing...whatever you want to call it....after weeks and weeks of troubleshooting...today I have narrowed it down to the belkin 54g wireless router.

I did this by finally taking the router out of the mix and could not cause the outlook 2007 to lock up again...thought it could be a lan cable...tried both cables in that mix from the DSL modem to the computer without the router and it still worked fine.

Hooked back up the router and managed to lock it up again...SO...all that being said is there a setting or someting on the router that I may be missing or something that someone knows about that I do not?

BTW, if this matters at all...we have a second computer that is also running outlook 2007 attached to the same hosted exchange server and it's having no problems at all.

Previously we looked at any problems with ost and pst files, ran Outlook diagnostics, etc to no avail - the router is the only problem that I could find.

The computer this is running on is an XP and all firmware is up-to-date on the router and all updates for MS office have been made.

I am desperate, if anyone can help, I would be most appreciative and would be willing to pay if someone can fix it.

A:Network issue with outlook 2007 and exchange server

It sounds like you have a flaky router. You might just need to replace it. If it works without it and you plug it back in and it breaks again it's the only explanation. If you have another router somewhere try switching them. Hope this helps.

Running an exchange 2010 server.

I have a number of users who's email will disappear.
Mail will return if you disable any type of sorting filter.
However will disappear again if you change folders.
This will effect any folder not just the inbox.

I have tried the following.

Recreating the profile in Outlook 2007
Deleting the pst and ost files
Adding new sort field and removing it.
Disabling cache mode.

I have not preformed an office 07 repair yet as did not think it would have any impact.

This is effecting about 10% of my users.

I am receiving errors when trying to add a Microsoft Exchange account to Outlook 2011 for Mac. I am running Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. The HUB\CAS servers for the EWS both have the Basic Authentication enabled. Below are the steps I have completed:

I made sure that my user name and password were correct 4 different times and kept receiving this message.

Below is an image of the advanced properties of the exchange account in Outlook 2011. The Microsoft Exchange Server and Active Directory Server prefix are both the same (https://domain.org) and the Microsoft Exchange directory path ends with .asmx
At one point, Outlook 2011 connected to the Exchange Server 2010 and downloaded my entire email box. It was syncing and said Connected to "Exchange Name", while the Mac was connected to the wireless network inside the building. Of course, the email is not going to work outside the building on a different wireless connection, unless there was a VPN connection.

Why is Outlook 2011 for Mac cutting in and out of the exchange server? Any ideas?

and then open all traffic to ISA with

access-list acl_out permit ip any host 65.77.78.47 255.255.255.255 any

then I’ll give ISA server access to the inside network with

access-list acl_dmz permit tcp 172.18.0.1 255.255.0.0 172.17.0.2 255.255.0.0 eq 25

With the above commands, the first access-list acl_out was not accepted by pix plus the second access-list acl_dmz so if you could please share some light upon my configurations.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but I thought I would try.

We have an Exchange server running Windows Server 2000 and we Blackberry Enterprise Server running on a seperate server. We are getting ready to upgrade our Exchange server to Windows Server 2003 and have run into a snag with a test user we created. We created the new account on our old server and then moved the users mailbox to the new exchange server. When we did that the BES recognizes that the user has moved servers but it doesn't send or recieve messages to the handheld.

Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Hello all,
Is there an easy way to tell if I am using MS Exchange server for my companies mail service? To make a long story short my boss has asked me to see if I could set up for him to share his calendar but apparently we must be using the above service. We are using Office '97 with Outlook '97 as our email application.

Most obvious way would be to check what is running on the server, otherwise check your settings in outlook and see if you receive/send mail from pop3/smtp or if Exchange Server is listed.

My exchange server services stops automatically and in Exchange system manager under protocols the HTTP protocol i.e, Exchange Virtual Server stops with a wrong sign.

When i restart the server and start the services then it works and send/receive mails.

I dont know y these services stops automatically.

Hi All

I have a question about Microsoft Exchange server
we are currently using Exhange 5.5 to manage our email (and the same server also acts as our domain controller)

We have a second server running SBS 2003 which runs our sql database (M1 erp)
which requires a lot of grunt

we have done this to lesson the workload on the SBS server and provide redundacy
which has worked well, we are how ever receiving a lot of spam and are looking at options
i beleive we should update the local Pc's to the lastest version of Outlook which provides much better filtering as a start
Would we gain from changing to the SBS server Exchange in reducing the spam as i am not so sure, how ever others say yes so i would just like peoples thoughts on this

Here is my problem, normally at work i can view my email using MS Outlook or i can use a web browser (I use IE). As of late i cannot access my mail using the web browser. The page is not coming up properly, sometimes it comes up with hyper links.

I am using and Exchange server with offline folders. Recently our company has made some changes which has forced me to build a new offline folder. My old offline folder became a PST file, in this PST file is my old calendar with all my future appointment and many other things... to lengthy to metion still exist. How do I get my calendar from my PST file to my new OST file (offline folder). I tried dragging and dropping it and it does move it but it also renames in to calendar1 which will not produce alarms for my appointment. I believe my alarms only work off of my calendar folder. Can anyone tell me how to get all of my appointments out of my old calendar folder to my new calendar folder in my main mailbox.

Have you tried importing the .pst file in Outlook? File>Import and Export>Import From Another Program or File>Personal Folder File (.pst). Select the file and import location from there.

Specs: XP with Outlook 2003 connecting to an Exchange Server

Question: When you close OL and open Mail from the control panel, what type of connection is it when you select the top item to configure your connection type as "Exchange server" or is there no way to tell? The reason I ask is our corp office just changed us from a pop3 sendmail server to Exchange (now we have webmail access when traveling, hooray!), but I'm not sure if it's an IMAP of sorts, or a proprietary protocol between M$ products (like IMAP...only different, lol). If it is and IMAP, I'm not using OL and I'm switching back to my old client. Just wondering...

what you're talking about is the MAPI protocol that's built into Windows which "provides a feature-rich set of functionality for accessing Exchange" and all of the other goodies available in Outlook.

We've recently merged with a company and 5 of my users are moving to the new company's offices which means they will be using the other company's email address. I need to forward the mail comming into their old address's here to the other company.

example:

[email protected] needs to be forwarded to:
[email protected]

Can this be done at the server level?

In exchange go to File, New Other, Custom Recipient, and create a new email address for this new recipient name.
Go into the list of recipients.
Doubleclick to edit the original user's mailbox. Click on the Delivery Options tab. Down in the lower half click on Alternate Recipient box, click on Modify button, select the new recipient's name you setup.

Hello everyone,
Here's a question about Exchange server 5.5 that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
I installed Exchange 5.5 with the Internet Mail service. It seems that when I send mail out to the Internet that I cannot get delivery and read receipts that I requested using Outlook 2000 client. I do get them, however, when I use mail to people inside my LAN.
Here is the message I get from my ISP, which I use as my mailhost:
"As part of the delivery process, your message was relayed to a machine tha does not not handle delivery status notifications. As a result, it is not possible to determine whether the message will get to its final destination.

Please reply to [email protected]
if you feel this message to be in error.

Before Exchange, I was using a program called SL Mail for my Internet mail and delivery and read receipts worked fine----using the same mailhost.

Any suggestions?

We were running 5 Windows 2000 computers on a Peer-to-Peer Network Group. Recently, we installed Windows NT Server and Exchange Server 5.0 on another computer so that we could share our calendars in Outlook. Now that we have NT and Exchange installed, we need to know how to move our calendars in Outlook to the Server computer. Any help would be great! Thank you!

Do you have the users now connected to Exchange? If so, you should be able to open the local PST files containing the local calendars then drag the local calendars to a public folder (which would be on the Exchange Server).

Ok guys here i go again. I need to setup Exchange IM server so i have gone through the full installation and configuration process i have installed the IM server, i have changed the exchange tasks in AD but when i try to connect to it i get error messages saying the service in temperary unavailable. Does anyone have any ideas as this is driving me crazy.

Also - global address list isnt showing up on one of the user's computers (the person has outlook 2k) - how do i make it show up?

Not sure if this is the right place... but I was reading up on microsoft exchange server.

What I want to know is that if I have this running on a windows server 2003 machine would this mean that I would be able to run my own e-mails...

I think I would have to get a Domain Name to get the .com at the end. But if I were to be rich someday and sheel out the money would this mean that I could run an e-mail host for me and my friends kinda thing...

A client has asked me to give them a quote to set up an exchange server and five client computers. Four of the desktops have windows xp home. The network they have was not planned it was an accident. LoL Anyways I am thinking of building the server myself and have built my own server. I used SBS 2003 standard. They also want to implement Outlook business contacts manager. I think their business will quickly need more licenses for the server. Do you have any hardware suggestions and and pricing guildlines to quote them with? Do they need winxp pro on all the desktops? They mostly would like to use outlooks exchange and calendar features. I would want there to be a mirrored raid but am unsure how big the hard drives should be. I have done fine with two 80 gig hard drives. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Does anyone know how to configure excange server so that it doesnt have a maximum size for sending mail. (or maybe increase the maximum size). I'd appriciate it if anyone knows.

I believe the maximum by default is 10MB. The limits are in Exchange System Manager under protocols SMTP, properties.
