64-bit installation fails Error Code: 0x80070570

Q: 64-bit installation fails Error Code: 0x80070570

I used to run windows 8.1 x64 but I had to reformat because I thought that would've fixed my problems installing windows 10. When I tried to install windows 8.1 x64 again it failed and got the 0x80070570 error. I also tried windows 7 64bit and windows 10 64 bit but I got the same errors. 32-bit OS installs fine though. Of course all my attemptse were clean installs.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and welcome Cave mate I think personally although fiddly using this tutorial and invoking the ie.cfg removal tool would be far less problematical as long as you choose the correct version for which you have the activation code for.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 it does also give info on doing it with a stick anyhow.

I have also tried to install latest .net4 downloaded from ms downloads, but get the same error.
The multitouch worked fine in win8 (which i hated) but this is a very clean install ( partitions removed and reformatted) of win7 ultimate, sp1 loaded. I updated as per ms instructions for all win7 updates it said i needed (not counting the Office ones i don't want). I've spent many hours now and any help would be appreciated.

I've seen several entries regarding sp1 instalation errors, but none with this one: falat error c0000034 applying update operation
Machine is x64 (intel core i7), with 8gb mem
tried installing sp1 via windows update. there were three patches to install, one of them, sp1
did the two first, before, and then tried sp1.
It failed while rebooting (not remember the code, sorry), but i was able to do a system restore to pre-sp1.
them, got the full SP1 media from msdn, and did install it in offilne mode. Setup looked faster (of course?) and in reboot, this fatal error c0000034 appeared. But this time, no option for system restore.
if i try to enter in safe mode, i get stuck on driver loading (last loaded is classpnp.sys)
if i try to run, as seen in other threads, the sfc tool, i get a "there is a system repair pending which requires a boot to complete..." Of course, reboot just gets me to the 34 error.
As i cannot get to Windows, no InPlace setup is available...
So, i read about DISM could be used as a before-last resourt... How? I'm not sure what this error is, so i'm a bit lost about getting something out of DISM to correct it.
Any help?

Thank you for posting and wanting to help other users, but unfortunately, I had to delete your post. We have found that the steps in this post while allowing you to recover from the non-bootable state, leaves the machine in an unserviceable state, with SP1
partially installed.  There is not a known way to recover a machine from this state at this time, so we recommend that people follow the steps in the KB article which allow you recover the system with Windows SP1 installed successfully. So as not to leave
customers in state which is not serviceable, your post was removed.

Installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 fails everytime on my PC. It stops on the very first step (Runtime Pre-requisites). When I took a look at the error report, I found out that the error code was (Can you believe my luck!) 1603. It just means "Fatal Error during installation" (Or does it?).

After this, I tried to intall this software after uninstalling VC++ 2005 and deleting all of the related files too but it didn't work either. I gathered from the installation log that the installation just did diddly-squat at the very first step. Anyway, I am attaching the installation logs for analysis. Please help me!

Hey,in my view, this kind of problem is probably caused by the culprits as follows: 1.memory installation issue : try to check the installed memory situation on you motherboard and fix it if it has come adrift. 2.driver confilt : update some unsuitable driver to the latest version.

Sometimes things happen that are just out of your control.

Hope someone can help me with this issue.

I am trying to install Windows 8 64 Bit on a HP 2530p laptop using a USB Flash Drive that I set up with DiskPart and copied OS files to - from DVD disc.
I first tried to install using a DVD disc in a external DVD RW I plugged into USB port of laptop - this laptop has no built-in optical drive.
I got the same error code with DVD disc that I get with USB Flash drive.
I formatted HD during beginning of install so there is no OS on laptop...

Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570.

I ran a MemTest86 and did a HD Test from BIOS and both passed.

Any thoughts?

Thank you all

I would rebuild your USB install drive, you might have ended up with some corrupted files. Was this computer shipped with Win 8? if not then you'll need to set up your USB to boot UEFI, IE is has to be formatted fat 32, then on boot up hit which ever key on your computer that brings up a boot menu select you UEFI USB drive

I recently built a rig (spec below) and originally installed windows 7.

I decided today I would install windows 8.1 as I get it for free from my university. I booted the installation disc in EFI mode, wiped the SSD and deleted all partitions. I let windows create the partitions it needs and proceeded to install.
The installation got up to 2% in expanding windows files and showed error:
Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure that all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x800070570.

I rebooted and tried again several times and the same thing happened whether I chose EFI cd boot or not.

I then reinstalled windows 7 without any issues, and downloaded an 8.1 pro disc image from mydigitallife. The installation got a little further into expanding windows files, but the same error came up again.

Ive been reading that it may be a memory issue so i'm the process of reinstalling windows 7 and running memtest86+, but I doubt this is the case as its a mew system and windows 7 has no trouble

If anyone can shed any more light on why I am having this problem I would be much appreciated

I'm new guys so bear with me.

Just built a new rig, specs are in my bio but long story short I'm trying to install w7 fresh onto a sshd from a usb. When it gets to 15% during expanding windows files it gives me the error code 0x80070570. so here's what I've done: ensured sata settings are set to ahci, used different ram in different slots on mobo, format hd in cmd with diskpart, made sure ram settings good in uefi, redownloaded Iso file and reran program to make usb drive bootable. Currently I'm using the clean all command in disk part and then going to try and partition the drive. Should I be partitioning for the ssd? Is there something else I'm missing with the hybrid drive? I've been working at this for about 2 days and could use some help. Thanks in advance

I am trying to install Windows 7 32-bit RC on a desktop PC. I have previously used this disk successfully to install the OS on a laptop.

I keep getting an error message to the effect thatWindows cannot install required files.
Error code: 0x80070570Initially I thought that this was due to a flaky DVD drive but I have now installed a different drive and am still getting the same message. I also tried a SATA DVD drive but it seems that the Windows 7 installation process didn't like (have drivers for) this interface

edit:I have previosuly managed to load Windows 7 64-bit RC on this PC but had some problems with stability so thought I would give the 32-bit version a go.

I notice that some people have got around this problem by burning the DVD at slow speeds and by using a USB drive to boot from; since I have successfully installed using this DVD, the former doesn't seem relevant and I don't have an 8GB USB drive available. I will try running MemTest86+ on the system on the off-chance.Any explanations / other suggestions . . . please . . . ?

ps - I have just downloaded a new copy of Windows 7 32-bit RC, burned it at 1x and have got the same unhelpful error message

I am working on a Dell Latitude D630 laptop. Intel Duo Core 2. Had Windows XP on it. Trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate (store bought). Tried to do a clean install. (Wouldn't let me upgrade from Win XP).

During installation, about 4 minutes into installation, I get the error
"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"

I tried another copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, which I know is good. Same error.

I swapped the CD / DVD drive, and still get the same error.

I ran Memtest x86 and am getting A LOT of errors with the memory.

Here are my questions:
1) Is the bad memory causing this error?
2) I found one memory slot, directly on the bottom middle of the laptop (2 screws to remove the cover). Where is the other memory located? It has 2 memory modules in it, and I can't find the other one!
3) Is there anything else that could be causing this error?

Thanks alot!

attempting to log in to a system that she doesn't use very often, she is told that she cannot continue because that system requires java version 1.7.0_?? to 1.8.0_51 to run.  I installed 1.8.0_51 and she tried again.  she still got the same error,
so I uninstalled 1.8.0_77 and she tried again.  This time the interface told her that no version of Java was installed.  I verified that, indeed, Java was installed, had her reboot and try again.  Same error.  So then I uninstalled 1.8.0_51,
and verified that the registry was clean of Java references, rebooted her computer and tried to reinstall the current version, build 77.  THIS time, the installation started normally, but when the "downloading java" screen popped up (the one
with the small green bar that goes across as it downloads), the window went away after about a second or maybe two, and nothing else happened.  A look at Task manager indicated that no installation routines were running.  A look at Programs and Features
in the control panel showed no installation of Java.  Testing with IE showed that Java wasn't installed either.  A look at the event... Read more

During Windows backup, which wants to backup the 'C' drive and my games drive 'E' (for some reason), I get the following error message after the 'C' backup has completed but not the 'E':

'The backup operation that started at '‎2015‎-‎12‎-‎20T06:00:25.459859400Z' has failed with following error code '0x8078012D' (The operation failed due to a device error encountered with either the source or the destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source or destination volume, and then retry the operation.). Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.'

I ran CHKDSK \R and received several errors of the type: 'A disk read error occurred 0000185. The disk does not have enough space to replace bad clusters detected in file xxxxxx of name xxxxxx.'

My 'E' drive is 2TB with 205GB free. I really don't believe that the cluster(s) in error are bigger than 205G, but what do I know?

Anyone have experience with this problem?

A:Unable to install win 7 (code 0x80070570)

Try another flash stick or DVD using the ISO and tool to burn to disk/stick in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will assure you get and keep a perfect install. Since Acer Recovery will not run after a Clean Reinstall to C, delete all partitions during the booted install.

If this fails work through these steps for Overcoming Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums reporting back any failure by when it happened and any error or other behavior.

If these fail test your hard drive using the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by another Disk Check run from installer's Command Line on the full disk partition you created.

I been trying to install update KB950125 but it keeps failing with error code 80070020.

I've tried disabling all non MS services, disabling my McAfee security centre, downloading the individual file for a single install all no luck.

I've also tried in safe mode but the installer won't run at all then.

Once windows update actually said it was successfully installed but the history said it failed and it was still on the list to install.

Any help will be very much appreciated!!

Running Win 8.1 Pro 64bit and I have been trying for over 2 weeks to install KB3008923 - tried 8-10 times. Everything seems successful until the restart and then at 67% complete it bombs out and undoes everything. Have tried downloading and running manually (same results) and have tried the Windows Update Diagnostic Tool. The diagnostic tool finds several errors and says they are "fixed" but it lies. I can run the diagnostic several times - either restarting between times or not) and it still finds and "fixes" these same errors. And no luck getting 3008923 to take either before or after "fixes" and restart.
Error Code for the Update is 800F0922 and I've attempted fixes outlined for it including resizing the System Reserved Partition in case it was too small. Still no joy.
Running Norton Internet Security so don't know if it's got something locked out or not. I am logged in as an Administrator, so I assume that the Diagnostic and Updates run at sufficiently elevated privileges so I'm not sure where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated.

After a week waiting for reply, I guess I'm the only one so afflicted, so guess I'll have to install an old system image, see if it'll update and start arguing with Microsoft about why I'm having to reinstall Microsoft Office 2013 (downloaded product) within a month of initial installation.

For about the past two months Windows update has failed to run. If I try to run it manually it just sits there spinning its wheels. It does not appear to end or produce an error code.
I have seen the message "could not check for updates automatically"
I've been to the MS site and downloaded both
and the third party
Repair-tool.exe by ParetolLogic
but none of these fix the problem.
Today I have run SURT as instructed and the output from sfc /scannow is attached.
Update is still refusing to do anything.

After failing twice, I read and followed the directions MS posts for this error code: (1) download and extract subinacl.exe and (2) create/run as admin the reset.cmd batch file, as instructed. Reset.cmd ran as expected. Additional attempt to install update failed with the same error. I have hidden the update for now.

Note: The parameters of this error do not fit. I am Admin and logging in as such. Also logged in using super administrator account. Firewall is not obstructing. Updates are set correctly. Also, please do not bother suggesting running SFC.exe.

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

The Trend Micro Client/Server Security Agent service failed to start due to the following error:

DiskKeeper appears to be causing registry problems on shutdown

Without the logs, that's as far as I can go.

Hello, My T470 is hanging when attempting to boot. It hangs on the "Lenovo" screen and  then eventually enters "Boot Menu". I ran the lenovo diagnostics and it threw an error code: START TESTS 20181124T213405UTC START STORAGE_READ_TEST 20181124T213410UTC STOP STORAGE_READ_TEST FAILED 5 S STOP TESTS UHD020020-UN7W0I --- STORAGE FINAL_EXECUTION  FINAL_RESULT_CODE U1THPBDV2-ZD1LE2 Does anyone know what this means? This is on an SSD. Any chance of data recovery? I have no idea where to find information on this error code and no idea how to contact lenovo for information/tech support (all contact pages just seem to be pointers to resources, these forums or order support).  My machine is out of warranty (standard 1 year, purchased ~1.5 years ago) but I did buy with amex with plan that it would cover me for an extra year. Does anyone have experience with this process? What information I would need to get to have amex cover the repairs.  Thanks!Ben

Here's what I've tried so far.

1.)Attempted to install the update manually.
2.)I've ran an sfc /scannow. It told me that it repaired some corrupted files.
3.) Tried the contents of the Software Distribution folder.

At least one other computer on my network was able to install this update successfully. Any suggestions? Thanks.

On an Asus laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled, I have secure boot on, AV off, but every time I try to install the update from the Windows Store I get as far as:
Getting the update ready
This App wasn't installed, - view details.
Something happened and the Windows 8.1 couldn't be installed. Please try again. Error code 0x800703f9

I've tried installing with nearly every non-windows process disabled, but that doesn't help. I've Googled the error number, but although I found instances of it (back to Vista), I couldn't find what the error was or anything helpful.

A:8.1 Upgrade fails, Error Code 0x800703f9

I've also experienced this issue. I know that on my system I managed to partially break the Windows bootloader and I've assumed that's the source of the problem, having tried a lot of other potential resolutions that haven't worked. I've tried repairing the bootloader without success so I think it's going to take a "refresh" or reinstall to solve. I don't have time to do that at the moment though so I can't confirm that that will work (I may not do it in the near term anyway because I don't trust it not to nuke the dual booting Linux partition on the same disk... which is how I managed to damage my bootloader in the first place :P)

Hello -

I used Windows Update to try the SP1 update, it updated all except the SP1 package. I tried to update and then turned off M Security Essentials, spent an hour looking for the version number, but have downloaded all W7 updates ever offered, so expect it is up to date. Scanned for the Essentials update, but not found on the MS download site.

I ran the W7 Update TroubleShooter, downloaded and ran the W7 Windows Updater system checker and checked the two logs generated, no errors or problems there.

Went into manual mode, went to the download site, pre-installed the 4826 update and downloaded the W7 SP1 file, same error message, 80070057.

No other malware or other programs running, it is a recent Sony Vaio laptop, 8 GB memory, no weirdness when monitoring install with Task Manager.

My other 4 computers updated SP1 with no problems.

Any ideas considered,

A:W7 SP1 Installation fails on Error# 80070057

I installed SP-1 successfully with the following procedure:

1. Reinstalled Windows 7 ? rebooted
2. During re-install, software reported: Net Framework V. 4 needs to be repaired
3. Was repaired by install program, rebooted
4. Checked services.msc, found Windows Updater running
5. Ran 64 bit Software Update Readiness Tool ? rebooted
6. Ran 64 bit Windows SP-1 Standalone Installer ? rebooted
7. Restarted Windows Security Essentials

Evidently there is some setting in the registry or some minor corrupted file in the existing W7 installation that is not found by running the Software Update Readiness tool that generates a wide variety of error messages and cannot be fixed by the various registry fixers. I sent a my log files from the failed installs along to Microsoft tech support, hopefully they can update the SURT and the SP-1 Automatic Update to fix the problem. Otherwise the most time-saving approach is to do a re-install that leaves the files and installed programs intact.

Hey guys!

So I will start by saying I am pretty tech savvy, so don't try to dumb it down for me. If I have a question, I will ask!

So, we got a computer into our class (I'm a student at a High School). It is a personal favour. It started with Dell telling me it couldn't locate it's BCD FIles. I did some tracking, and couldn't find the files needed, and they don't have any discs or USB's provided by the OEM. Great. That's a problem.

My second thought was to grab Hiren's BootCD v15.2 to grab anything important off of the drive (It has Linux and MiniXP. Both options failed. Kind of starting to irritate me at this point. I asked the person if anything important was on there, the answer was no, so I went with a full reinstall.

Now, I do have a Dell DIsc, which is authorized for any Dell Computer to install Windows 8. But of a brick wall, but no R/W Disc. Transferred things into an ISO for a USB stick using Rufus. Boot into it, fails. Now I'm really mad. At this point I went into the CMD from "Repair" option in the stick. I cleaned the drive of ALL info, drive letters, everything. I created a new volume to store info, assigned a Drive letter ( C:\ ). The new drive is a RAW data storage type, "converted", got an error, checked and it said it was NTFS. Great, reboot, retry an Install -- fails.

I'm quickly running out of options now. I'm lost to what to do, the issue simulates what happened to my personal machine a number of years ago, but that was ... Read more

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3033929)

Installation date: ?3/?11/?2015 8:57 AM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 80004005

Update type: Important

A security update. . .

I can't find any info on this error.  Tried the update twice and both times it failed.

A:Update KB3033929 fails with error code 80004005

You may want to try the following:
1) Running the following FIX-it (for resolving WUS issues)
  LINK:  ~http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

2) Then change windows update to "manual" update mode (as aposed to install updates automatically)
3) Scan for updates
4) Uncheck and then "hide" KB KB3033929
The update should no longer download or install going forward.
You can then revert the WUS to ?automatic? if you desire (recommended).
Perhaps MS will FIX and re-release this in the future.
At that point you could choose to ?unhide? the patch and then
try to reinstall it at that time.
