Q: power adapter question, HP Spectre X360, adapter for STRAIGH...

I have an HP Spectre X360. It has power adapter, with a right angle end (blue tip) that plugs into computer.I HATE THE RIGHT ANGLE !!! if I'm on the couch, it points down, gets extra pressure on it.if I'm on a table, it points front or back, and puts pressure because the cord wants to go to the side of the computer does anyone know of a patch cord, that would allow that adapter end to plug into, and then have a STRAIGHT blue-tip adapter end on it, so that I can relieve the pressure on this cord wire when I use it? any assistance appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I know the new Spectre x360 15 inch comes with the new smaller power adapter (similar size to a apple charger) and I wanted to know if the x360 13 inch model also comes with this new smaller adapter?    All the photos and unboxing videos I've seen of the 13 inch have been the larger brick so can anyone tell me if they are still coming with the brick or the new smaller one?   Thanks

I have an HP Spectre x360 13" laptop (X7V20UA#ABA) with USB C ports. The charger supplied with the laptop plugs into one of the USB-C ports. I want to get another charger but nobody seems able to tell me what will work with it. I have tried HP Shopping and Best Buy. Also looked on the nearly unusable hp parts website. The PC seems only to work with HP USB-C chargers and gives an error message with other brands (I have only tried Kensington USB-C dock but other online posts say there is a problem with other brands). Is there any charger I can use that will enable the impressive fast-charge feature of this PC? Can I buy another one from HP?  Thanks!

Hello Forum, I've just managed to break the head of my HP Envy 14 Spectre (14-3011tu) power adapter cable.  The power adapter is one of those HP travel adapters (65W - 574487-001) with interchangable heads.  I called HP Australia and various HP suppliers to see if I can get a replacement interchangable heads or even a whole replacement adapter however no one has them in stock (well they have the base power pack but not the correct head and no one know when they'll get extra stock).   Do anyone know if there is a similar HP laptop that uses the same long 4.7mm adapter head as the HP Envy 14 Spectre (14-3011tu) ? I'd like to buy one so that I can hack together a new interchangable head cable whilst I wait for new OEM stock to come in.   PS. I've already ordered a few of the aftermarket adapters off eBay that clam to fit the Envy 14 Spectre however they are a few micronos too thick to fit in the socket.  Image below just in case you're having the same headaches as me.  http://support.tmg100.com/HPEnvyPlusAM1.jpg Cheers!

Hey grainass, This is a hard part to find for some reason. I have confirmed personally with customers that this part number is the correct replacement for the DC cable that connects the power brick to the notebook.  687530-001 Click here to go to the HP Parts Store. At the top you'll see the Americas tab highlighted. Click on the Asia Pacific tab and choose Australia below. On the next page, in the Search by part number box, type in 687530-001 and press Enter. Then you can order it online or call the HP Parts Store at the number listed. Really hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions!  -------------------------------------------------- Anyone else looking for a Spectre 14-3xxx replacement DC cable can use this part number as well. I have an hp pavillion dv 6000 that I lost the power adapter to. My friend has an adapter for an hp pavillion dv9000 that he does not need anymore and he wants to sell it to me. I want to know if it will work with my computer. The adapter puts out 19volts 4.74 amps 90 wants max. The replacement adapters for my model (dv6000) list the power output as 18.5 volts 3.5 amps 65 watts.

Will an adapter that was higher voltage amps and wattage work for my laptop that requires less??? This is assuming that the connector is the same which I'm not sure of.

If I have my adapter set (Power Management) to not allow the computer to turn off the device to save power, will it still turn off / sleep when I put the computer itself to sleep?

I had a scare today where for the first time, I rebooted and my network card was unable to detect any networks whatsoever. Running the Dell WLAN Config Utility Diagnostic Hardware Test showed the device failing the last 2 tests:

1. Interrupt - This test verifies that the NDIS driver is able to receive interrupts from the network controller.
2. DMA & Loopback - This test verifies that the NDIS driver is able to send packets and receive packets from the network controller.

Disabling and re-enabling the adapter both manually in XP and physically via the external switch failed to correct the issue. Luckily rebooting again did! I suspect it could have something to do with exiting my Bluetooth radio from fully loading during boot even though I always do that. Anyway I am worried about it because it's possible this is a warning of future hardware failure and if my adapter fails I will be screwed because I run online stores that require me to check my email often etc. and waiting a week to have a new card delivered would be hell. Failing to let things sleep and cool down (after days and days) such as my hdd has always come back to haunt me in the past.

Yesterday my laptop suddenly refuse to get power from AC source. Following the instructions on the web, I first assumed AC adapter faillure. But the adapter works well. The tiny LED next to the power inlet went off, although Windows catches the AC adapter driver and seems working. The last job I did before the problem was updating the BIOS, which is instructed by HP Support program.  I bring it to the service center, but they refused to take it since it's not a Korean-sold model (I bought it from the other country).Quite annoying because they did not take any questions at all, just repeating 'we don't accept that, go away'. Can anybody give me a solution? The battery is only half-filled, and after it dries I think it would be turned into a piece of brick.I really need a help. Thankyou in advance!

This is a common problem (I see lots of posts)
The problem source is the [Dell] AC adapter.  PA-21 Family, 65W, P/N: NX061.  It is made in China.
I have an XPS M1330.  Using Dell after warranty service, replaced the Mother Board twice, replaced the battery twice, replaced the AC adapter twice - not fixing it.
Turns out the power warning message is very informative.  It states "Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or greater for best system performance".  So, I plugged in my Dell 95W adapter - WOW Problem Solved.
A lab test of my new Dell 65W AC adapter shows it to be 64.6 watts.  If this unit gets hot (like after several hours of use), it may not put out the full 65 watts - the system may not recognize the adapter, it may power the system ok, but won't charge the battery.
These units burn out after only a few months of use. Their cables are too fragile. If Dell's or their supplier's Quality Control can't produce a reliable 65W product - I found seveal "Made In USA" universal adapters.

A:AC Adapter - Alert - "AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined"

Well my solution was simple.
I just removed the battery pack and powered up my notebook. Then I turned off the notebook replaced the battery pack and VOILA. The error message was gone.

My AC adapter is not powering my laptop any longer. At first I thought it was the adapter itself, so I bought a new, OEM, 230W one. Same issue.  Computer charges when off but doesn't charge when working, and won't even turn on (no lights) when battery is out and AC adapter is plugged in. I checked airplane mode in both Control Panel and Lenovo Vantage--it's off. Battery is in good shape.  Can someone walk me through steps to fix this if it's possible?  Thank you.

So like many others on this forum my HP Spectre x360 13-4106na has no power after 10 months. Last night I shut down my laptop and turned off the power at the wall. Today when I turned it on it would not start and the Power LED is not on, even though it is plugged into the mains. I have tried disconnecting all external devices/cables and have also bought a replacement Power Adapter but still nothing. I am now out of pocket by 39.99 for the new Power Adapter from Maplins and worse still I can't open an issue/ticket online as I have the HP 3 year Pickup and Return Notebook Service as this can only be done between the hours of 08:30 and 18:00 by  phone with one of their engineers. I have experienced the issue with the tracker as well as the Intel Graphics resetting although I had up until now put this down to Windows 10.  HP what is going on? I will be keeping a track on how the replacement process goes especially as I have the extended warranty and the laptop is still not yet a year old and will provide updates. Jonathan

I purchased my Spectre x360 in July 2015 planning on buying a high end piece of reliable hardware.  I have had no problems with it (other than a trackpad issue that was patched soon after launch).  Fast forward to today.  I go to power it on and nothing happens.  It had been charging overnight so the battery should be good.  I check the power adapter is putting out correct voltage and attempt to do a hard reset.  Nothing.  Since the unit is out of warranty I open it up and pull the battery plug, hold power button, and then plug the battery and adapter back in.  Still nothing.  I then notice some fried caps and a fried IC under one of the stickers of the unit.  After some googling I see lots of people with this problem.  I go to contact tech support and find out I could be charged for the phone call!  Besides I don't feel like running through the "turn it off and back on" checklist when I can see the problem with my eyes.  Further googling has revealed this is a rather common problem and replacement costs are pushing the costs of the unit.  I am very dissatisfied for having something I paid over $1000 for and it not work in this short of period of time.  I put off making my laptop purchase for this thing to be released!  I recommended it to people  I am hoping someone from support sees this and can help me get a replacement board since this isn't a normal wear and tear issue. Hello All, There was one similar thread, but it seemed to be closed. When the power is plugged in on this new machine (7th Gen CPU / etc., but not the new model with the pen), there is a very faint static noise (possibly to the speakers). With the power disconnected it is not audible. Anyone else hear this?  FYI, it can be heard when the system is in sleep - not just when it is on.  It does not sound like "coil whine" - it could be bad grounding or something like that. R

I have a brand new Spectre x360 (13-w023dx). When it's in sleep mode, the power LED blinks. What I am realizing is that when the power LED is illuminated during its blink cycle, I hear a high pitch tone.  It's super high pitch and hard to hear outside of a silent room, but still can be irritating.  I have seen other electronics in my life do this, but didn't know if it's a known issue or just mine. Also, if there's any potential of a BIOS adjustment that could fix it (perhaps changing the power going to the LED or something).  Thanks. [edit] I am realizing it only does this when plugged in/charging.  If I unplug it, the power LED still blinks in sleep mode, but there's no high pitch sound. Tried changing to a different wall outlet, just in case, but that didn't make any change. Still had the same high putch noise.

The power port on my Spectre laptop (Product No: K6C18AV) just stopped working. The power cord is plugged in but it is not supplying power to the laptop and is not charging the battery. The small LED next to the power port is dead, no amber or white color. I've tried a different power adapter and different outlets in my house. After doing some reading on these forums, it seems others have had a similar problem. I bought the laptop in April 2015. Warranty expired April 2016. I called HP support. They said the motherboard needs to be replaced. Minimum charge $600. Fudge, I might as well buy a new laptop.   So Questions:-Has anyone had luck replacing the DC power port inside the laptop? I found a part number PN 801513-001 on one of the forums. -Has anyone had any luck convincing HP this is a common problem and should be covered as a defect even though the laptop is out of warranty?

It will not be anyone at this Forum. I left my laptop alone for a few minutes and when I came back, my display was off and the power led was blinking. Now, when I plug the adapter in and try to turn on the laptop, the charging led (now orange, not white) and the power led blink on and off simultaneously. I tried plugging the display to an external monitor too and since the computer has been stuck in this mode, nothing has shown up. I have viewed the HP page for hard reset but it did not work for me: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768 I have also viewed the HP led flashing page and tried the steps. I just received my HP Spectre x360 13-w063nr,  purchased directly from the HP store, from this page: http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/Laptops/hp-spectre-x360---13-w063nr-x7v22ua-aba The notebook I received seems fine, the product # matches the one on that page, but according to the Specs tab on that page, this was supposed to be included with the laptop: What's in the box            Sleeve; USB Type-C? to RJ-45 Gigabit dongle Well, the Sleeve was in the box indeed, but the Gigabit dongle was nowhere to be found (only the AC adaptor was in the little space under the laptop). Did someone forgot to place it in the box when they packaged it ?! This was quite a disappointment, as I ordered many other USB-C adapters that I need for this notebook but specifically NOT this gigabit network adapter because HP claimed it is in the box -- that's one of the reasons I bought the model on that page from the HP store! Anyone else who ordered this New HP Spectre model got this problem? Is HP going to send me the promised but missing gigabit dongle? If anyone else got it, how does that gigabit dongle look like and where was even supposed to be in the box? I keep looking around in the box but can't find it -- clearly it was a packaging omission in my case, which is quite a let down.

I got an HP Envy x360 (model: http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/Laptops/hp-envy-x360-convertible-laptop--15t-touch-iris-gfx-w0z96av-1) a few weeks ago and I bought the HP USB-C to VGA Adapter (http://store.hp.com/NetherlandsStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=N9K76AA&opt=AC3&sel=ACC) to connect the laptop to an old VGA display. When I connect the adapter to the laptop, I first get an error that the USB device is not recognized:  This issue resolves itself fairly quickly, however, but after that every few seconds the following error pops up:  Trying the laptop and adapter combination with another display and VGA cable results in the same behavior. However, the adapter works with both displays when connected to my Lumia 950 phone. The second error also talks about a "DisplayPort connection", but the adapter is for connecting via VGA... Has anyone some ideas for solving this problem?

Hello everyone, I definitely need some help here.

I have been using my WGA600N Linksys Gaming Adapter to connect my Xbox 360 S to my wireless router two floors above for years now. The main reason I bought it was to give the 360 access to the 5 GHz frequency on my dual-band routers, which I have heard (and experienced) is better for wireless gaming than a 2.4 frequency.

However, after switching routers from the old Linksys E3000 to the new EA4500, I can no longer access the 5 GHz connection through this adapter, or on the Xbox at all it seems. I have tried nearly everything I can think of that worked in the past (which seems to be anything except the lousy setup CD), mainly connecting the WGA600n to my laptop with an ethernet and accessing its setup utility using a static IP address (I hope I said that correctly). For example:
setting the 5 and 2.4 Ghz frequencies to either the same or different SSIDs
setting the password to these frequencies to matching and non-matching passcodes
changing the visibility of the 5GHz network from non-broadcasting to a broadcasting signal
setting the adapter to search for 5GHz only, not mixed 2.4/5
Those are the most obvious that I can think of, but there are probably more in the hours I have wasted on this. The strange thing is...
the adapter can connect to the 2.4 frequency, not the 5.

How do I know this? When trying to connect to a 'mixed' signal, the adapter constantly searches for channels (as far as I can tell). When connect... Read more

My laptop will no longer turn on.  When the AC adapter is plugged in, the LED light is white indicating power is arriving at the laptop. However, nothing happens when I push the power button. Troubleshooting steps I have completed already include: Hard reset (several times including after each step below)Tried starting without the batteryRemoved all removable components and reseated themRemoved all removable components as well as bottom cover. Cleaned with compressed air. Put everything back.Nothing appears wrong and nothing happened between the last time it turned on and this time that I am aware of. The laptop is out of warranty, and I am pretty handy with computers. Is there anything that can be suggested short of a hardware replacement that would help get this resolved? TIA

The tips I got with this Kensington 33197 power adapter have numbers stenciled on them like N3, N5, N19, etc. The tips sold on their web site make no mention of the "N" numbers and have numbers like K20059, K20050, etc. and there is no cross reference.

You can also see a complete reference for "N" numbers to all the laptops they support at the above link. Again, no mention of the numbers Kensington uses on their site.

I need a cross reference for these kinds of numbers.

Kensington referred me to their telephone tech support; but, there is a language or cultural barrier that prevents their understanding what I need.

Does anyone know of such a reference?

There are some of devices that were mission from device manager.
At first, there was a problem with wireless adapter, I couldn't enable it.
I tried to reinstall drivers serveral times, but it didn't fix the problem.
So i reformat my system, 2 times. the problem is still existing.
It's getting worst, now i can't find wireless network adapter, lan network adapter and card reader in device manager.
It is weird that sometime the  wireless adapter appears in device manger, those 2 devices come back too.
I am quite sure that my wireless adapter hardware is ok because i did replace new wireless adapter but the problem still exist.
I ran some antivirus tools, antimalware tools, non of them return infected.
The weirdest issue is that my wireless adapter comes with bluetooth adapter.
but only bluetooth adapter can be used, it works perfectly fine.
Could you please take a look at this problem, im at the deadend. this is the weirdest problem i ever had with  my laptop and pc.
Thank you

Hello guys!We are trying to install a Crucial m500 960Gb SSD into the hard drive bay adapter for the w540.While the drive fits, once it's connected is not snug and kind of "rattles" inside the bay adapter. It turns out that you need one of this little adapter/spacers that are present in the actual main SSD that came with the machine. We've searched everywhere for the part number or even it's name, with no luck.
Here's the picture of the part:

How can we get one?
Shouldn't this part be included in the Hard Drive Bay Adapter IV?
Thanks so much for your help!Nicolas E.

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.
