I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi @Littletigger35 Welcome to the HP Support forum. Happy New Year ! This is happening because the computer cannot successfully and fully load Windows. This may be hardware problem or software problem. Did you perform some change recently ,something new these days, last hours before the issue started ? Perform hard restart/forced reset. More info and how to here >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768/    Please, perform some basic hardware checks 1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button2. Power it on.2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one 3. Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test. This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1 If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD and RAM check. Let me know the test results. If the tests pass without issues, continue. If not, please, let me know 4. Repeat steps 1-2 above but when HP Startup menu opens, please choose F11 for System Recovery options. The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted... Read more

Hey, I'm having a problem with my hp laptop, I bought it 1 year ago, it asked me to download updates, restarted it and now it dosen't boot up.It shows a hp logo at middle and start up menu Esc at the bottom left. After 30 seconds, it restarts and the same thing occurs again. My model is Hp EliteBook 8470p. I tried hard reset, cleaning the fans, but to no avail. Need help!

A:Hp laptop stuck at hp logo screen.

Hi ,,       Can you get into safe mode of any description ? On start up keep tapping f8 till the Advanced boot options page opens  . Next using arrow keys move down to safe mode with command prompt and hit enter . When command prompt opens type   rstrui.exe  and hit enter . This will take you to System Restore choose the restore point that was created BEFORE you did the updates and let it load . This should take you back to a usable state , When you are prompted to do the updates again try installing them individualy rather than all at the same time . This way you can pinpoint the offending update that is causing the issue . Let me know how you get on    Checkurtech

I have been trying to start my laptop back up, because I need it for school, but I won't go past the HP logo screen. it will turn on, but as I just stated, it won't go passed the logo screen. I can click f10 and go into that but I don't know if that will help. the warranty has expired, so I'm not sure if I should just get a new laptop or if this can be resolved. Thanks! UPDATE: it gave me an error message, it was the code "0xc0000185". any thoughts / help?

Please run diagnostic tool to check the hard drive on the system by following steps below:
1. Power off system
2. Power on system, quickly tap the F12 key continuously until you see Preparing one time boot menu in the top right corner of the screen. In the boot menu, stroll down to Diagnostic and then click it. After quick tests, click on hard drive and then Thorough Test Mode. Report back any error code.

On the Notebook make sure you have a good connection with the HD Drive.

For installing Win XP, you need to install on the Notebook & not on a Desktop.

MORNING ALL. I am trying to fix a laptop for my mother, she was given a Notebook (hp) for Christmas a couple year ago and it had windows 8.1. She hated it and found it very confusing. But so as not to upset my sister in law wouldnt change it in any way. ie: upgrading to Windows 10. So now that her desktop computer ha totally died she is having to use this one. She asked me to upgrade it to windows 10 because it looks like 7 and she understands that one. So I went to download windows 10 and got all the way through it up to the point of were it said Your PC will shut down many times through this install. It was but finally I had to crash at 1am. So I left it to do what it needed to. This morning, it is stuck on a screen that just shows HP logo in the center, no esc buttons, no nothing.  Did the install fail and how can I get past this screen? thanks

Your System spec says your machine is x86 - your post says x64.
Please clarify that.
When you attempted to use an installation disk - what type of disk did you use? the manufacturer's Recovery disk, or something else?

I was using my laptop like normal and closed the lid when I had to leave the house in a hurry. Three hours later I return and now Iīm having problems. I opened the laptop and and pressed the power button and it stayed on the ASUS startup screen, the little wheel on the bottom that shows itīs booting is not there. Just the logo and thatīs it. I tried fixing it myself, looking online for help.
I am able getting into the BIOS utility place and everything seems normal to me but Iīm not able to boot. Per advice online, I downloaded the microsoft media installation (is that what itīs called?) on a USB using my husbandīs laptop. I plugged it into my laptop and after a few attempts I figured out I could use the USB entering the BIOS utility and select it as a boot option.
Selecting Ļrepair my computerĻ I was able to get into the blue screen to see more options. I first went into Repair, as it searched for errors and repair options, it told me to do a system restore. I did that. It took around 3 hours to finish however I was able to get into my files and see that everything was there like before. This was sadly only a 15 minute fix as the computer went into a black screen as I was reading something on Word and then went into an update process. I put the laptop on my desk as I had other things to do. That evening, I go to use my laptop. It was on sleep. I press the power button to wake it up and it gives me the same thing, stuck on the ASUS logo, no pinwheel.
I ran a chkdsk ... Read more

I have a Dell Inspiron 5558. Yesterday, after trying to start after sleep mode, laptop stuck at Dell Logo. Not completing POST properly.
As per references found here, I tried to Hard Restart laptop by removing AC plug, battery and pushing start button for 20-30 second. That didn't work.
Laptop showing BIOS properly with hardware OK, especially HDD as I got references that the HDD may create this problem. Pressing F12 on startup taking me to another option from which I tried to Diagnose the situation but after clicking on diagnosing, the screen goes blank and shows nothing.
There are no recent hardware changes. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

Hello, I am trying to fix my mother's laptop and unfortunately am not very computer savy. She has an Acer computer running with Windows 7 Premium. When I turn it on it asks if I want to boot normally or launch startup repair. Starting normally brings me to the Windows startup screen, where it gets stuck. Launching startup repair says it's loading files, then goes to a black screen and stays there. I went to another thread with a similar problem, but I had trouble understanding. I will try to provide any information about the laptop per request.

Thank you for reading this message and helping, I apologize for not being informative.

I am trying to fix an Acer TravelMate P253 Series laptop that has been upgraded to W10. When I turn it on, I can only get as far as the Acer logo.

For a few seconds, 'Press F2 to enter setup' and 'Press F12 to change boot device' is displayed under the logo but then this disappears and the computer appears to freeze. In the few seconds before that, thankfully I can access the BIOS through F2.

I tried resetting BIOS settings to defaults but no change. When I press F12 I can see the Boot Option Menu is displayed as follows:

1. HDD: ST9500325as
3. Network Boot

Can someone please help me try to isolate what the issue is here? I assume that this is not a hardrive problem as the computer can detect the HDD? Could this possibly be the memory?

HiI have a brand NEW Dell Inspiron 15R laptop which all of a sudden became stuck at the Dell logo when it tries to boot. I have tried numerous time to power on and off, but it doesn't budge past it.
I have run the diagnostics, "No problems have been found with this system so far". It asked me to run the remaining memory tests which I did.  Again, no problems were found.
I followed all the troubleshooting steps here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?docid=577306 to troubleshoot a computer that is not completing POST and it has made no difference. The power button light is on, the three buttons on the top right hand side flash in turn then switch off, the CD rom makes the usual start up noise, and 3 of the 4 lights at the bottom left hand flash then the one for the hard drive switches off, with only the power and wifi remaining on. When I switch it off, all lights go out.
Please advise of a solution asap as I am unable to use the new laptop at all. Thanks.

I just got my X1 carbon today. The major problem is that the CPU is overheating. It can easily reach to 90 degrees or even higher. (I already used XTU undervolted the cpu) The fan is always on and a little bit noisy if using the laptop even for performing some simple tasks such as open a web. It will turn so hot that i won't even able to reset my hand on the right side of the keyboard above the air outlet (the area next to "enter"). Since it is a new system, i need to restart it after updating and installing some apps. The system stuck at Lenovo logo screen during restarting a few times already. I think it was due to overheating. Long press the power bottom and restart it will solve the problem.

Hi, Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ) and run the tests on the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the results, including any error codes that may be generated. Can you also post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your hp 2000 series notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information. Regards, DP-K

I turned on my Laptop this morning and it was fine then while in my email the screen went black and "cannot load movie maker" came up I clicked on exit. Then it was fine for a couple of minutes and the movie maker error came up again.I have never used or even gone into movie maker. After it came up the second time the screen was black and stuck so I tried to enter task manager but couldnt , I turned off the laptop and when I booted it up all noises fans lights etc... came on and it was booting as normal the HP logo with the loading circle of dots swirling , the went away as they do before it goes to where you enter your password but came back a second later and the swirling circle of dots froze and it was stuck on the HP logo with the curcle froze and not moving.I did a hard reset entered diagnostics and did a quick check everything passed the test but it still will load as normal then the logo and the circle freezes and it stays there.I am no genius with laptops but can do something if I am shown/told what to do.Any help would be greatly appreciated. The laptop is 2 years & 1 month and a week old and running very well never had any issue , I have had bullguard security since day one and run it regularly. There is plenty of space on the laptop.

A:Stuck on HP logo

If everything passed in the hardware diagnostics then it may be a corruption within windows, generally the only way to resolve that is via recovery. Unfortunately at this point any data on the machine is at high risk, you can try entering the recovery menu using F11 key during startup before the HP logo appears. This, if it loads, should give you access to the HP recovery manager, you'll need to select troubleshoot and then recovery manager after pressing F11.If you are able to load the recovery manager then you should see an option for data backup, you can attempt this option for recovering files (you will need an external USB drive for this with a suitable amount of space for your files). Unfortunately there are no guarantees when it comes to data, if this does not work and you have valuable data on your machine I'd recommend taking your computer to someone who can use other tools to attempt to recover your data.If this does work or you do not need to backup data, within the recovery manager screen is the option for system recovery, click on that and select the option to recover without backing up. This will reset your machine to its factory default state. If it is successful then you will be at the initial setup screen as if you just bought the computer new

Hello, I have recently bought a GTX 1050Ti, after installing it and pressing the power button the monitor screen is stuck at the HP logo. If I press ESC just as the logo appears then it takes me to a black screen with text. The GPU fan and everything works, although the screen is just stuck on the logo or black screen. Just after I press the power button I can hear two beeps, then a single beep every 30 seconds. After around 4 beeps the screen turns black. This only happens when I have the GTX 1050Ti in the computer. Everything works normally with my previous gpu (Gtx 450). I believe that the problem might be that my bios is out of date (Version 7.16), but whenever I go to Foxconns website, I can't find the right Model. I tried going on the Online Support thing and trying to download the Fox Care program but it doesn't work, it says that I can't connect to the DNS server, even though my connection is fine.   My specs are: Motherboard: Foxconn 2ABF (H-CUPERTINO2-H61-uA TX)Processor: I5-24008GB Ram Cheers.

Got an HP Pavilion 563w with Pentiun 2.4, and 512 MB of ram, running an oem XP. One day, I tried to start it up, and it booted to the Windows logo screen with the black bar. The bar went across twice, then froze. Nothing else happens after that. Tried Known Good Configuration, same thing. Tried safe mode, stops at mup.sys. I tried to get into Recovery console, but doesnt seem to recognize my hard drive, as my only choices are off of the CD (Drive letter e). Tried to repair system files with an XP upgrade cd, and it tells me there's no operating system installed, and that I need to verify my install by loading the installation cd, which I dont have. So I tried to use the HP system restore feature on my computer, but it only gives me the option to reformat, and not repair. I am the fool who did not regularly back up files, so I still have some on there I would like to have. I thought I could install this drive as a slave in my newer computer, but the hard drive setup in that computer is SATA, and my problem child is an IDE drive. I did not install anything new (hardware or software) that I can remember in the days before it went south. Is there anything that I can do to save this drive?? I'd like to fix it so my husband will have his own computer. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

A:XP stuck on logo screen

Another quick question. I've heard there are IDE to SATA converters out there. Also found an IDE to external USB case that this hard drive can be installed in. Would it be possible with either one of these tools to at least retreive my data off this hard drive? Any suggestions at all would be helpful at this point. Thanks again!!

My  friend got a  Dell inspiron 15 3000 series with windows 8.1  .It ran fine for 2 years. But  now  its not working.
The system show dell logo on starting and does not got past it  . its just stuck.
BIOS setting( UEFI) can be accessed using F2,   boot priority  setting key F12 do not work.
Even DELL dell epsa pre-boot system assessment test  works fine.
In some cases the problems disappears and the system works . But after restarting , it will get stuck with dell logo.

A:DELL logo stuck

General troubleshooting:
Unplug the system and remove or disconnect the battery.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall both memory modules.
Try powering on with AC only - if it will, but won't if the battery is connected, the battery needs to be replaced.
If it still won't power up successfully after resetting the system as above, remove the hard drive. If you can then get into setup (F2 at powerup) successfully, replace the drive.
If you still can't get into the system after doing the above, try one memory module at a time until you find the bad module (replace it) or bad socket (see below).
If one of the memory sockets turns out to be the problem -- or the above yields no results, replace the mainboard.

The Facebook app for Windows 10 will not get past the logo! it is stuck at the blue background with the F Facebook logo. I tried closing the app and reopening it but it made no difference. I googled "Facebook app stuck at logo windows 10" but only results about the app crashing showed up in the results, the app is not crashing, so I added a "-crashing" to force Google to exclude the word crashing but now only results about computers stuck at the Windows 10 logo during boot showed in search results. There is nothing anywhere pertaining to this problem. There seems to be no information or anybody else with this problem with the Facebook app for Windows 10. It is important that I get into it because my school account is tied to the app while my personal account is tied to my Firefox.

Does anybody know what is wrong and how can I fix it?

Wondering if anyone can help.

When Xp loads the computer boots as normal but once it hits the xp logo screen (just before logon) it freezes. Is there a way around this?

Firstly, I have attempted to boot in safe mode, it does the same. It also does the same if i try to boot to safe mode with command prompt.

Second, I have tried to boot up with a XP boot install, and the recovery console is no help.

Now either i am using the console wrong or that path is closed.

Can anyone help? It is really quite desperate and i can't take "reformat and try again" as an option since half the stuff on the computer i can aford to lose. A speedy response would be much apreciated

When I turn the computer on, it will freeze on the blue HP logo screen. My mom said she turned the computer off the night before with no problems. Then the next morning, when she turned it on, it was stuck at the HP logo screen upon booting. I've done Google searches and came up with many results with no solution. The computer is an HP M9550F. There is no new hardware installed on the computer whatsoever. Can someone please help or advise me on what to do as I am stumped! I've done a CMOS reset, I've pulled the motherboard battery out and re-inserted it, I've unplugged the DVD drive, I've took out the RAM.

Hello frew66

Let`s try the easiest things first

Have you tried "Last Known Good Config" or System Restore

Boot into Safe Mode Options Screen
Select "Last Known Good Configuration"

If that does not work, boot back to the same screen and select
'Safe mode with command prompt'

At the command prompt type

Hopefully this will open System Restore, so restore to before the problem started

Boot your PC from a Windows 7 System Repair Disc which you should have made when the PC was working okay, then select "Startup Repair" from the menu.

So you can boot to safe mode, but not into 'normal' Windows?

If thats the case, it's probably some drivers causing this...
Try uninstalling chipset drivers, graphics drivers, sound card drivers, etc. then try to boot into 'normal' Windows.
