I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I badly need a software to convert the movies I download from torrent into a format which can run on my samsung DVd player or my samsung LCD tv.
I don't need one which also burns movies onto Dvd,rather a simple, less time taking software.I want to put those movies in my USB.
I've tried dvd flick, aimer dvd creator, divx to dvd,dvd styler but it didn't help.

A:Any software for converting downloaded movies into DVDplayer format.

There are many software's that would be available online through which you can convert movies in DVD format one of them is Free Video to DVD Converter.

My HJT log says I downloaded pirated software using P2P software. I am using Bear Share. Would this be something within Bear Share showing this to protect themselves or would this be an outside source claiming I've done so. I feel as if I was tricked. I downloaded some game mods/updates, which in turn didn't work. Could this be the culprit?

I have downloaded a .avi video file.
I cant play the video file using many of the media players ( The KMPlayer, K-lite codec , windows media , vlc )

The file extension is changed to .001 for the first file and .002 for the sencond file....etc instead of .avi as mention in the website.

Thank for your consideration.

A:Cant play the downloaded video file ( unknown format )?

The numbered extensions make it sound like one large avi file was split into smaller files for downloading purposes. You will need a file joiner utility program to combine them into a single file before you can play it. There are various free and non-free joiner programs that can be downloaded from the Internet. I have not used them often enough to offer any specific recommendations.

I've recently downloaded a couple files. One is a game (from GOG.com), another a BIOS update (from Dell), among others. When trying to open either of the two above, I get the following error message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"

Another recently downloaded program gives me a checksum fail type of error message.

I've kept up to date with Microsoft updates, and have tried running them in various compatability modes, but get the same message each time.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, as I am rather significantly tech illiterate. Thanks!

Hi ..I have got some unique problem I would say. I have recently got a broadband connection. It's working perfect with everything apart from downloading software.I can download music, video, software(does not install). After the downloading the software when I try to install the softwares ,it sometime says corrupt file, some times says cannot extract or sometimes gives NSIS error. But When I use my laptop in my university network it works perfect with any software installation which I download. I tried the all way to make my service provider understand that there is no problem with my laptop as it's working prefect in other networks but they don't want to trust me. What to do. It will be highly appreciable to me if you could find out way.I am completely hopeless now

Many Thanks

A:Can't set up any software which I downloaded

Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hello there. It seems a compilation of rogue software has been downloaded on my computer. Among the programs it runs are Virus Response Lab 2009 and Antispyware Pro XP. I think there was a picture of a rhino on it...please tell me this isn't malicious. I rebooted and now cannot get past the "Windows shut down unexpectedly...." and then have the options to boot in safe mode, etc....however, I cannot move the highlight to safe mode, I can't do anything!?! I will take it to the shop tomorrow, I don't care, I am just totally in a panic about losing everything!

The software download came as 4KB html file to desktop, not a zip as most do. Double-clicking it went to a page with a download link, as well as left-side navigation links for Home Page, Customer Service, and all other software available from that site. The address bar showed a C:/documents and Settings\USER\Desktop.xxxx.htm

Hovering pointer over ALL links shows a File///C:/... desktop address with .php extension, even the 'Home Page' link in nav list. Left clicking the 'download software' link brings error that says: can't find "file:/C:///Documents%20and%20Settings/USER/Desktop/downloads/c13eb4626c13090cf3b003e289ff7885/xxxxsetup.exe"

Make sure path or internet address is correct. (xxxx replaces file name).

The assoc'd files d'loaded separately as html files (templates, tutorials, etc.) opened to different page that asked for username and p'word.

Here, only the 'Home Page" link showed http destination with hover, but the login showed C:/ address with .php ext'n. And of course the submit button returned a "Can't find page" error page.

I just now downloaded and installed XP EXEfix from another older thread here that was recently updated. This had no effect.

I guess the the app files kinda run by themselves when you double click them so it doesn't matter where they are on your computer. I could be wrong though.

However what about the ZIP files? I remember once using the Dell resource CD and it would download some of these ZIP files...but they would put them somewhere in my program files folder. That is why I was willing to use the CD more since it would place these files in the correct place (I mean I'm not going to put them on my desktop for instance).

So where do I put the ZIP files? There are only ZIP and application files.

I am using driver updater and it downloads setup and install automatically.

So do you know any way to do that.?

A:How to get link of the data downloaded by a software

It would likely not be easy. You can see what IP address it is connecting to, but likley not the specific address.

You can use the netstat command to see what programs are calling out, and where.

Open an advanced command prompt

Start> In search box type cmd> Right click on cmd.exe in results above and choose Run as administrator> When command prompt opens type

netstat -bnf

This will list which exe files are connecting to the internet, and also the IP addresses they are connecting to

You can also create a log. Typing

netstat -bnf 5 >> C:\connections.txt

For instance will run the command at five second intervals until stopped by pressing the Ctrl+c keys. This will create a text log file in C:\ named connections.txt

You can also get similar info with a simple, free program like CurrPorts

CurrPorts: Monitoring TCP/IP network connections on Windows

Scroll down to near the bottom and d/l the x64 version. Usually the IP addresses will not load in a browser as is.

If you spend some time learning, perhaps a more complex program like Wireshark can get more info

Wireshark ? Go Deep.

It is a very powerful program, but again, I am not certain it can tell you the exact address the updates are being retrieved from. For instance, using CurrPorts for Avast! Updates, I get an IP address of Pasting that in a browser will get you

I reinstalled my OS earlier this week. The installation went very smoothly (Win XP Pro), I managed to get all the patches/packs downloaded and installed although .net framework 1.1 was "twitchy" and I had to uninstall/reinstall it.

When I tried to complete setting up the system with all it's usual utilities, I run into problems.

adaware 2007 personal - OK

adobe acrobat reader - it gives an error during download and am unable to complete the download

spybot search & destroy - unable to install downloaded file; says file is corrupt

MSN Live messenger - tried to install directly from site and it says cannot verify signature or something like that and won't install. When I try to install off the download it says unable to install, low memory or invalid cab file

macro express - downloads but says it's corrupt and won't install

Asus video adapter drivers - downloads but says file is corrupted (2 different drivers)

I've run a diagnostics on my hard drive and it looks fine. I've switched from 1 port to another port (my motherboard has 2) and it behaves the same way.

Some things won't install off CD, I get invalid file, or checksum errors and it's a new dvd drive.

The only things different on the system since after I reformatted (and it was a solid performer before I had to reformat) are the bios, which I updated using Asus update, the driver version for the video cards and a new dvd burner (the previous one was broken).

Every time (since about a month ago) I download a new software program over the web it is listed in "uninstall or change a program" as much larger than the download size, in one case over 5 times larger! This has never happened previously to a month ago. Is this a problem or is it just a Vista glitch that has shown up? Could something be causing the operating system to read the file size as much larger than it actually is? I am running 64 bit Home Premium.

When it happened the first time I thought it was a glitch in that particular piece of software but it has happened with two other software programs as well.

I have two user accounts on my computer. One is my personal one and is password protected. The other is for my roommates to use if they want to watch a movie or something (I'm a nice guy; they hardly ever use it anyway; not password protected) Yesterday afternoon I downloaded a Client software program from my University's software page. I wanted to be able to log onto my school's engineering servers from home. The installer told me to restart when it was finished downloading. Since I've done that, when I turn on the computer it automatically logs onto the movies account and not my personal one. When I click switch user, the screen goes black and comes back to the movies account desktop a few seconds later. Same thing happens when I hit log off. I have restarted and shut down the computer numerous times with no help. Does anyone have ANY idea of what I should do? Thanks so much for your help.

A:Downloaded Client Software from University's website, will not log onto my user.

Did you install using the movies account? Or does the movies account appear first on the screen you normally get to select which account you want? If either answer is 'yes' that may be a clue to what has happened. But for what to do about it you probably should start with contacting your university's IT department.

I got a strange folder that was downloaded to my external drive. In it there was a Setup executable, so I ran it to see what it was. (I now realize that it could have been a virus!) Anyway, it is the KB2600217 software update, which had a listing that it is an update for .NET 4.0. I tried to delete this folder, but it wouldn't let me, saying I needed to get permission from SYSTEM or something. If I had to, I would guess that it was supposed to have been downloaded to some temporary location and then run, but somehow it got put to my external drive. So my questions are how to run this, and then how to delete it! Thanks

A:Got KB2600217 software update downloaded to external drive

There is probably no need to run it at all - check your Installed Updates listing and see if the update is listed there. If so, take ownership of the download's folder on the external drive, and then delete it.

I'm still relatively new to Win10, having done a clean install on my laptop that had been running Win7 for a few years.

I'm trying to understand if there's any advantage/disadvantage to installing apps from the Windows Store versus installing the regular versions of the same software. For example, I'm a long-time user of portable apps and for years have used the portable version of VLC. However, I saw that there's a VLC app available from the Store. So I installed both versions (i.e. the portable version and the Store app version) and the portable version is clearly more robust and has more features than the app. Such being the case, why would anyone want the Store app version versus the regular or portable version? Is there some advantage to installing the Store apps instead of the regular or portable versions of software? Do the apps install and uninstall at lot cleaner than their non-app counterparts?

Yesterday my Critical Updates said MS Malicious Software Removal Tool was available for download..so I got it and installed it I want to give it a try, but I can't find it! There are only two references to it on my computer (I searched for it by name and by Critical Update number). One is in the C: Windows>Downloaded Software Distribution> Install folder, it says that's a CAB file, it is an exe -? Is that it? (and if it is, why is it squirreled away where no one would ever find it?) The other is in the PF folder. The MS site says "it can be downloaded, installed and run manually from your computer." Except I can't find it. It's available to run online at MS, but I downloaded and installed it, so it's not that, is it? Where is the one I downloaded and how do I run it?
Also - the site says this:
The first time that you download and run the tool by using Windows Update or Automatic Updates, you must accept a specific end user license agreement (EULA). The EULA is displayed when you log on as a member of the Administrators group and then access Automatic Updates or the Windows Update site.
But nothing like that popped up after it installed.

Malicious Software Removal Tool

The version of this tool delivered by Windows Update runs in the background and then deletes itself. If you would like to run this tool more than once a month, use the version on this Web page or install the version that is available in the Download Center.

I'm having problem in uploading PHBB forum files into geocities. How does the forum work? Do we have to install it to our own server?

A:How to upload downloaded forum software like PHPBB into free geocities web hosting?

for get it taht will never you really need to look up on these things first. JUst for asking this your are a complete moron, but ill be nice and explain why. PHBB forums requires your server to host php which geocities defiantly doesnt so go look else were secondly the forum stores all the data meassages in a MySQL whihc geocties also obvioulsy doesnt ofeer so again you need to find a host that does. Now I will be real nice and give you 2 that do have both things you need:
http://www.000k.com/index.php ( just read actually come swith the option of the forum for free.)

and since I am really bored to install it on any server that does have php, upload all the files modify the config and chmod the files(read the readme to find out which)

Today, I was sent a message on FB from a "friend". This was sent to 10 people and linked to a "spongebob squarepants" youtube video. When I clicked on the video, I saw that is was from yuotube.com. I immediately closed the application, but I was too late - already infected.Since this afternoon, I have had a host of different problems: 1) A message, masked as a Windows security warning, saying that I was infected and running a "scan" (looking like a Windows Control Panel window) that says I have hundreds of trojans and viruses in my file locations. It takes me to a location with a http address of www.onlineantispyguide.com/index.php?affid=41100. 2) Popups immediately following that are truly X rated. 3) When I try to add additional free spyware, IE says that Internet Explorer cannot access them. I was able to run a HiJack This log, and the 2 files your website requested. The RootRepeal program was not allowed to run. I can run the spyware I have, but the updating In a very-windows looking atmosphere, you get 3 tiled windows. I have loaded windows XP Pro on my laptop to find that it is running very slow. I realise that it is an old laptop and want to re-format it. I know how to re-format a computer but this time trying to re-format my laptop it come up with "This program cannot be run in DOS mode". I have tried all sorts of ways to format but coming up with nothing.

Anyone out there that could help with this problem would be really appreciated.

A:Format laptop with XP software

Let the XP Install disk do it. At the begenning of the install process. Read the messages carefully. I suggest deleteing any and all partions and rebuilding.
