Android Yoga Book and Wake Options

Q: Android Yoga Book and Wake Options

I purchased a pair of Yoga Books this past week for my wife and myself, and the only major let down for me so far, is the inability to wake the device by any other means than pressing the power button. Is it possible to add tap to wake, or wake by activity on the keyboard? I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing we had this option.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have read nearly every post with yoga book issues regarding powering on, waking up, sleep mode.  None of the fixes worked for me.  IT WON'T WAKE UP!!! I've triedholding power button for 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, plugged in and unplugged with original power cordholding power button and volume rocker, plugged in and unpluggedpushing the power button 10, 15, 20 times rapidly and then trying to turn it on.The battery is internal and I am not sure I want to try to open it up.  I can't find any screws. I'm waiting for the battery to drain to see if that will help.  But in sleep mode, it may take a while..... Help?

Hi there, This problem has happened several times now, and can't find any solution so time to report it.Our Lenovo Book YB1-X90F is about 3 months old, and has been updated to Android 7.1.1 (security patch 1st August 2017), and recently we have had several instances of Apps seemingly open themselves when the Book is not in use. And by "not in use" I mean it's been closed, sitting on a chair, connected to power, not being used at all for hours. A week ago we heard strange noises in the room, and tracked them down to the Yoga Book, and when we opened the Book we found Youtube App open, playing some video of some baby crying. Closed the Youtube app and found several other apps were open, apps we rarely or never use. Chrome was also open with many, many tabs showing pages we had never accessed, and History showed they opened when we were not using it.  Today we opened the Yoga Book and some new App we had not seen before was filling the screen. We dismissed it and then found the Google Play store was open, showing the page for this new App. And after closing the Play store app, and looking at task switcher, I found that Google Maps was open showing central america (I live in UK and have never looked at this region on Google Maps), Google Sheets was open (we don't use Sheets), Note Saver was open with lots of random squiggles and lines drawn on the page. There is no-one else in the house, so something is causing these apps to load on their own. Severa... Read more

So, my husband bought me a Lenovo Yoga Book last year for Christmas. I like it. I think it's cool to be able to draw on the paper (which is what I do traditionally) and have it show up digitized on the screen. I was able to do a couple of cool projects sketches on it, but I haven't used it to it's full potential I believe, so I put it down for a while. Then, I started to research different drawing apps, seeing all the amazing artwork that people were creating in these different apps and stuff, and it got me excited about going back to drawing on my Yoga Book. So, I went to try to draw in ArtRage, and when I would try to draw on the Wacom tablet with my pen, nothing would show up. However, when I would draw on the screen with my finger, everything showed just fine. I tried to update it several times, I tried starting it over, I tried using a different drawing app; NOTHING. The only time the pen would work on the Wacom Tablet is in Notesaver. Even if I had ArtRage open, anything that I try to write on the tablet will only come up in Notesaver. I wasn't trying to just factory reset it right off so I called technical support to see if there was anything that they would be able to do to fix it without me having to factory reset it.So, I called tech support and they told me that I would have to pay a fee of $40 to be escalated to their software support. So I paid the $40, and within 3 MINUTES  of speaking to me, the tech tells me to just factory reset it. I was LIVID. Like, th... Read more

I have the stick 300 set up on my 55" living room TV. Using the Logitech K700 keyboard from my old now useless Revue Google TV.  I have done all the WIN10 updates, and did the BIOS update.Yes I had the no drives found scare after the BIOS updated, but load and save defaults in BIOS solved that quickly.  All is running smooth, It works well. Not having any wifi or other problems that some are having.  But there is one thing keeping this setup from being perfect. The fact that I have to walk over to the TV and reach behind it and feel for the button and turn on the stick 300.  I have read up allot on various "wake on----" possibilities and have expoerimented with some OS and BIOS settings to no avail. I would like to pick up the keyboard and push a power button to turn it on somehow.

Hi all

I recently clean re-installed Win7 Pro 64 and now the Power Options keep reverting to High Performance every time I re-boot and even on wake up. If I set it to a power plan every time it works fine that one time.

I didn't make any changes to hardware/bios from previous install. The only change is that I first installed XP x86 to a separate redundant HD to enable a legacy scanner for which no 64bit drivers are available and I only boot into XP on an occasional as and when basis. I didn't make any changes to Windows boot manager & can only boot into it from F8.

I also downloaded a legacy game from Steam which is running happily on Win7. I rapidly decided that I hate Steam so I set it not to run at startup, only play offline and kill all associated process after closing the game. Again, I'm not running the game on a daily basis so it's unlikely this is affecting this persistant behaviour.

Grateful for any ideas.

Ian

I have a S3 Yoga 14 with i5-4210U Haswell CPU & GeForce 840M (Model# 20DM000VUS). I've searched and searched for any solution to upgrade the memory to 16GB, but seems only the Broadwell version can...so I'm stuck with 8GB.  I already upgraded to a 1TB Evo 850 SSD which did boost overall speed a lot, but running out of memory all the time is driving me nuts. So my question is, is it possible to swap out the whole motherboard to a i5-5200U Broadwell version without any HW/SW conflict issues so I could upgrade to 16GB?  Or can you only swap for the exact same MB?  It'd be a lot cheaper than buying a whole new Yoga w/dedicated graphics such as the P40 and way less hassle as long as I wouldn't need to reinstall Windows and everything. Thanks!

Hello, since the last update, my yoga 260 no longer wakes up from standby. I suspect that it has to do with the update of the Intel (R) Management Engine Interface V11.8.50.3425. When I try to update this, I always get the error: "Intel(R) Management Engine Interface is not installed in the system" Maybe it could also be the new Bios (N1GET84W 1.61) if I try a downgrade to version of the laptop does not restart but is stuck in sleep. My Yoga 920 purchased 12/2017 does not "wake up". The machine will begin to run and the light on the power button stays lit but the screen does not come on. The only solution I have found: hold the power button and reboot the computer, thus defeating the purpose of Sleep Mode altogether. This means a) I cannot hope any in-use files will remain in-use or even be recoverable when I reboot and b) one of the primary reasons for purchasing computer (e.g. useability) is rendered completely pointless, and c) Lenovo sold a machine for $1700 US that does not perform as advertised. Thanks,JJ

Hi all, Facts :Last august 30th, I ordered a Lenovo Yoga 3 14 (i5 / 8 / 256) from Amazon. It's been delivered one week ago (02/09/15).Two days ago (monday), I installed Kaspersky antivirus, downloaded the files for Windows 10, closed the screen and it went to sleep...And never woke up again ! I tried any and every keys / switches combo I thought of (power switch w/o volume switchs + and -, Novo switch, function keys, Ctrl/alt/ del, ctrl/shift/esc, escape, spacebar, enter... Right now, the power led is still on, the PC runs on battery and I'm waiting for it to run out of charge.I can hear and feel a very tiny ventilation from the back. The USB ports are active since my phone and an external HDD are plugged in them. The keyboard doesn't respond or enlight itself anymore. Despite all my tryings, I get no sound from the speakers... So I hope I will be able to reboot it and find a suitable solution (BIOS, driver update ?).The Yoga is new (one week old) and I'm yet already struggling to bring it back to life !!!!! Question :Is there any way to manually shut down the computer (the power switch for 60 sec doesn't work, the battery can't be taken out, no reset pin hole...) ? LENOVO, please HELP !!!!!I was so happy of this computer, don't let yous customer down. PS : As soon as the battery turns off, I'll try to save the PC and let you know how it goes.Sadly, I'm already considering to turn it back.

Yoga 900 will not wake from sleep. The power button on the laptop is blinking, indicating the laptop is in sleep mode. Pressing the power key has no effect. Pressing power key for a few seconds (hoping for a hard reboot) also has no effect. Must remove battery to reboot the computer. This is an intermittent problem. The problem occurs randomly. I have not been able to establish any pattern related to how sleep was initiated (e.g. was sleep initiated by: closing the lid, clicking on sleep in the Windows GUI, pressing the power button). The problem has occured 5 times but it is a major hassell when it occurs.

A:Dual booting android and win10 Yoga 520 - Problems with wifi,bluetooth,etc

Hi! Thank you for writing in. You need to consider the hardware compatibility of a Windows computer to an Android OS. Basic functionality of the wifi, keyboard, bluetooth etc. might not work because of driver incompatibility. Apparently, Lenovo cannot provide drivers that will work both with Windows & Android. -Bobby_Lenovo

I love my new Yoga 900 but I'm struggling with one issue that's driving me a bit bonkers. I use the Yoga as my home computer that needs to be connected to both an external display as well as a gigabit ethernet.  I purchased the Dell D1000 usb3 port replicator that has display ports, usb ports as well as a gigbit ethernet.  The displays work fine, and the ethernet and usb work fine whe the Yoga is awake, but my problem is waking the Yoga from sleep.  If my mouse is plugged into the Dell D1000 usb port, it will NOT wake the Yoga from sleep (neither will a usb keyboard or the wake-on-lan feature of the ethernet).  If I unplug the usb receiver for the mouse and plug it directly into the Yoga, it does awaken the PC from sleep. Problem: I really need the Wake-On-Lan feature and my understanding is that the Wireless LAN will not work for wake-on-lan.  is there any way to make the wake-on-lan (or any other wake feature) work through a usb adapter? I've made wake-on-lan work for every PC I've owned in the past several years, so I think I know how it works, but i can't seem to make it function for the Yoga, no matter what.  There is NO bios setting for wake-on-lan (or wake on anything) that I can find. Anybody made wake from usb port replicator work on a Yoga 900?  If so, please share what replicators/devices you used and how they were configured. Thanks ... After a clean install of Windows 10 Anniversary edition, I had an issue with my Thinkpad Yoga not resuming from sleep, requiring a hard reboot every time. I made sure to perform the updates in the support article ThinkPad Yoga cannot wake up from sleep mode but those didn't help. The ultimate solution was to downgrade the Intel Management Engine Interface driver to the 9.x version from Lenovo's site. The default Windows 10 installation installed version 11.x of that driver, which apparently causes this issue with failing to resume. (Note that the Lenovo System Update tool does not identify this as a needed update since the Lenovo driver version is older, so you have to download and apply the older driver manually.) After doing this, the system now sleeps and resumes perfectly. Hopefully this can help someone else, and maybe the above support article could be updated to include this advice too.

Hi everybody. This is just a public service message regarding an issue I've encountered. I've found that my Yoga 900 does not "wake up" after it has gone to sleep while connected to an external monitor. I'm connected to an HP 27VX monitor through a USB Type C to HDMI adapter. I found that my Yoga wakes up without issue if the display has turned off (power options turn off display settings) but it doesn't wake up if it goes to sleep when connected to the monitor. The issue though is not that it doesn't wake up, the issue is that for some reason when connected to the monitor it never truly goes to sleep (slow blinking white light). I think it gets hung up somehow when trying to go to sleep. When it enters this mode the power light is solid white and the only fix is to power cycle the Yoga. I'm not sure why it won't successfully go to sleep when connected to a monitor but my guess is some type of driver/hardware issue between the USB type C, HDMI adapter, and the monitor. I've verified that all works as intened when I'm not connected to the monitor. My workaround is to go to power options and turn my sleep option (when plugged in) to "Never". Not a solution by any means, just a workaround until all players involved (Lenovo, HP) figure out how to work with the new USB Type C port. Hope this helps. Rob

Hello, I have read other people having the same issue. Suggestion seems to be update the bios. But here it comes a second big issue, I can not update bios! I tried from "BIOS Update Utility for Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Thin..." it starts the procedure but then it re-boots ending up in an (apparently) sleep state with the blinking led. The only way to start again is pressing the button for several seconds, but then once checking the current bios version I realize it did not really update.  I don't know how many times have tried this, getting crazy.
