Reinstalling M920s factory software

Q: Reinstalling M920s factory software

I have an M920s purchased in March 2019 and it came installed with some DVD drive software (Power 2 Go and PowerDVD). I want to reset the system (reinstall Windows and remove all existing files), but want to reinstall the factory software included. I have been unable to find a clear answer to this question. Does anyone know how I get the installers for the factory preinstalled software? Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Navy father is shipping back out to Kuwait in a few weeks and a friend gave him a laptop to take overseas. It seems to be plagued with viruses. Google redirects, fake antivirus popups, etc have made this computer nearly unusable. We have tried everything and thought the issues were fixed but they keep coming back. At this point we are at our wits end and just need to wipe the bleeping thing.
Please forgive my noobishness, but I am an amateur when it comes to this stuff and my dad has no one else to help him with this stuff. We need to reinstall windows 7 pro but we do not have any discs and there seems to be no option to completely wipe this thing like i can with my desktop, which apparently has windows 7 formatted to the HDD permanently.
The computer is an HP Elitebook 8560w. As I said we do not have the install discs for windows. Will it be necessary to obtain some discs or is there anything else I can do to completely wipe everything and start from scratch? There is nothing that needs to be backed up. Any help would be most appreciated as my dad would love to be able to use this machine to Skype with his family back home. Thank you in advance.

I really need help on this. I can't seem to fine a solution anywhere
My hp probook 4530s came with windows 7 pro and i had it upgraded to windows 8 pro( i have the disk) then i downgraded back to windows 7 pro using the installation disk that came in with the laptop.
After the reinstall i downloaded the internet driver so i could go online and start doing the windows updates.
But after the reinstall, updates and such, i found that there's nothing on my laptop, like the softwares that should came in with my laptop like the very first time i use my laptop. So i thought of doing a factory reset.

Here's the problem, i know for my laptop to do a factory reset is by pressing F11 on start up but when i do so, it asked me to put an windows installation disk with an error code (see below)
I have the HP_RECOVERY(E: HP_TOOLS(F: and SYSTEM (D: files.
I have the windows installation disk and a Application and Drivers Recovery DVD that came in with my laptop.

Please help me, i've been trying to fix this for a few days now.

ps: on the disk management it says that i'm still missing a few drivers, but i can't go on the HP download page for some reason so i can't get the drivers that is missing.

Here's the message after pressing F11 on start up:

unfortunately; this sounds to me like something may have corrupted the boot manager when you tried to downgrade to windows 7. If you have the windows 7 disk; i would try running it off the windows disk and doing a repair. Hi everyone, I'm looking to sell my X1 Carbon and I transferred all of my important data off the machine and did a full factory reset.  I also chose the option to "remove files and clean the drive" (attached). Is this sufficient enough to ensure the data on the HDD is never recoverable with any tools/software/3rd party services? Or is their a different technique I should follow? I had some important confidential data on the machine. Thanks

If I were to reboot my computer to factory settings, would I be able to install my Microsoft Word 2007 back on to my computer? I ask this because I know Microsoft doesn't allow you to burn the CDs or put them on multiple computers. Is there anyway that I would be able to put the program back on to the same computer after a resetting of the computer?

A:Reinstalling Microsoft Office 2007 after rebooting computer to factory settings

I don't know if they have tightened up the licencing on the 2007 Office, but I have loaded and reloaded 2003 Office into an assortment of PC's and a laptop as they died, were replaced or reloaded. I don't think you will have any problem reinstalling it in the same machine. MS support will sort it out for you if you do have a problem.

I have windows xp sp 2 desktop with ms word 2003
In order to have the help portion of my microsoft word 2003 version function correctly, I must install the Microsoft streets and trips cd which I proceeded to do when I first got my computer a few months back , and it was fine but then after a few weeks when I clicked on the help function on my tool bar in word again , it asked me to install streets and trips cd again just like the first time , and this also happens with my scanner as well its an hp scanjet 350c , Everytime I want to use it I have to reinstall the software or driver ? Anyway I have to reinstall the software with the cd that went with it , But I remember when I had the scanner hooked up to my previous computer with windows 98 this did not ever happen , after I installed the software once , I never had to reinstall the software (cd) again
But with this new computer I wonder why I have to keep reinstalling the software ms streets and trips each time I want to use the help in word 2003 or the scanner I have to reinstall the software
, I thought once its installed its in the registry and thatís it . unless you do a reformat .
How can I get those files to stay in the registry and not have to keep reinstalling it every time I want to use those programs or my hardware ?

I have some adobe software i.e. photoshop, lightroom and i would like to transfer these programmes to a new
computer without re-installing, can i do this with Macrium Reflect or is their another way.

regards calmat

A:reinstalling software

Hey it Cal,
Good to see you again. Software must always be reinstalled, ie. downloaded from the net or installed with the use of a CD or DVD.
The one exception is if you use Macrium and you tranfer the entire Operation System to another computer. In that situation, you will most likely have problems, due to the legalities of having an OS on two computers at the same time. If you remove it from the first computer, you will still, most likely, encouter problems installing an OS on a different computer, by using an image.

Hi dnipper ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you have the machine number of your product ?
What Windows version do you have and what happened before the issue started?
Normally windows itself would be able to play and recognized the DVD not unless that it is corrupted or that the DVD itself is still good (hardware speaking). Here are basic methods that you can try.

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread area. This software being installed relates to security, so I figured it'd be a good spot to start.

Is there an easy way to determine what initiated an install for a piece of software? I have a good handful of computers that continuously are getting Microsoft Virtual C++ 2005 installed on it every night, if uninstalled the day before. It happens every
night pretty much like clockwork - at 12:27 AM EST that I can tell on the computers I checked, give or take a minute or two.

Things I've checked:

Task Scheduler - Nothing in here.GPO - Only applying to a bit under half of our PCs all in the same OU. Determined it most likely isn't GPO based on this fact.Scheduled install from something like a software pusher - Not that we can tell, but there would be so many to go through it would be difficult to determine 100%.Windows Updates - I don't see anything in there downloading/installing vcredit.msi

When looking at Event Viewer, I do see the install is kicked off by Security ID S-1-5-18, which is Microsoft's Local System account. I'm not sure about on all computers, but the one I'm looking at now shows the installer ran from C:\Windows\TEMP\IXP000.tmp\vcredit.msi.
Event ID 3096. I believe the IXP000.tmp is literally a temp folder created as some sort of process when it is being downloaded/installed, as it is not there after going on the computer and browsing to that directory.

At this point we are unable to deter... Read more

The vent to the right appears bent and misshapen My question is, am I being too picky about build quality or are these legitimate issues? Are they even issues at all actually or is there a legitimate reason that a sharp copper wire should be to the side of the headphone jack? Is the vent to the right bent and misshapen or is it supposed to be "curved" or something? I spent over £1250 ($1630 American) on just the tower alone, so I expected a premium product. Thoughts appreciated!

I was having issues with Photoshop 7 and attempting to reinstall it gives the error: "Setup requires a different version of windows. Check to make sure that you are running Setup on the Windows platform for which it is intended. Error 102"

I find nothing relevant in the Adobe forums, and perceive this as a Windows error.

I have reinstalled this once or twice before with no issues. We are running Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit which has been working on this as well as on previous OSs. The machine is up-to-date without viruses and I have run SFC/scannow, and a registry cleaner; issue persists. System Restore is not an option.

A:102 error on reinstalling software program

Hi Tipiford,

The error may not be related to 'Adobe Photoshop'. It may occur after the installation of 'InstallSHIELD SDK Edition from Microsoft Visual C++ version 4.0'. Please refer to the following 'Microsoft article' and see if that works: PRB: InstallSHIELD Error: Setup requires a different version

Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings.

Hi there, hope you can help me with a problem. I have tried googling this, and asking friends, but to no avail.

Basically my OS, Vista Home Premium, reinstalls several of my drivers every time I start my PC.

If I view hidden devices in device manager, I can see that it has reinstalled my network card, sound card, TV card, PCI-to-PCI bridges and Audio controllers well over 40 times each.

I have tried running ccleaner and using the repair function on my vista disk to repair startup. I have tried uninstalling all the devices, including the hidden "previous" versions and reinstalling all the latest drivers.

One thing that may be of note is that if I restart my computer, the drivers will stay installed. It is only if I completely power down my computer then start it up again that I have this problem.

I believe the issue started around the time I was trying to get my old keyboard working. During that time I followed these two suggested links from logitech to try and fix it, which involved a few changes.

(Neither resulted in fixing my keyboard, and I'm certain I've returned my computer to its previous state since).

System restore is also no use, as I do not have one old enough. My PC is protected, virus and malware free. I keep it clean of useless applications.

I would really appreciate help here. It's only an extra minute to my boot... Read more

A:recovery factory default software

Hello Nancy.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Did you create a set of recovery discs when you first bought your laptop?

If you did, you can use them to put your system back to its out-of-box state.

If you didn't, you can order a set from Toshiba: https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...737864&pf=true

When you've recovered your system you can then create a recovery disc: https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...753749&pf=true

If you can't get into your system you need access to another computer to download and burn a Windows 7 repair disc. This won't reinstall Windows, but it will get you into the Windows 7 recovery environment where you have several options to get your system up and running again.

I know these trials and offers will run at start up and continue to run in the background and lag the machine.

I know I can just go to add/remove programs in control panel and delete what I want, however, I know there is a program out there that will uninstall everything installed with the factory built machine. I have searched Google and I cant seem to find the program I'm looking for.

Alright I have a few questions, about windows 7 pro software raid 1 on 2 IDENTICAL 2TB drives of the same production date (well 1 day difference)

What will happen when I reinstall the system? Will the raid reactivate itself or do I lose the data.
Is the raid synched at all times through software raid or does it have resynching periods? (EG 24:00 of each day)
Can I upgrade to windows 7 ultimate or windows 10 pro without the raid falling apart?
Can I go from software to hardware raid without issues (I have an X79 motherboard, Rampage IV formula, no additional raid controller) and with that I mean, if I have an hardware raid and I reinstall/upgrade, what would happen then?

Some other things: The disks contain data, 1.2TB mirrored and therefore they are Dynamic volumes
I got no additional copies at the moment.
And there is my final question, will I lose anything by reinstalling with the disks disconnected and connecting them after installing (I mean the data will be there but can/will Windows detect it under the following 3 scenarios (reinstallation/7 ultimate/10)

A:check disk keeps appearing and windows software keeps reinstalling

There were quite a few updates for Office.
Check your Windows update history (Control Panel, Windows Update) and see if the Office updates have been installed in the last few days. Perhaps it is still reconfiguring those.

Just received the new M910s SFF machine I purchased a few weeks back from Allstarshop.com (because Lenovo was "sold out" and not even accepting orders for them at that time). I had also bought some extra "add-on" hardware parts from online retailers, expecting no problem at all installing them.  Note that I checked again today, and Lenovo is once again accepting orders for the M910s SFF machines.  So that problem is behind us.
Well... surprise. I had unexpected problems and trouble with 2 out of the 3 add-on hardware items I bought for the M910s, so I wanted to share my experience to give others who might have a similar project in the works a heads-up.
(1) The 10MK000QUS Kaby Lake i5-7500 machine was factory configured with 1x8GB of DDR4-2400 memory, Win10 x64 Pro, 1TB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA3 HDD, and optical CD/DVD drive.
(2) I added an additional 1x8GB of matching DDR4-2400 memory purchased from Crucial.  No problem.  Works perfectly, and the machine is now 2x8GB=16GB operating in dual-channel mode as expected.
(3) I had purchased a Gigabyte low-profile GTX-1050ti graphics card for use in the new machine, not expecting any problems. Well, it turns out there IS a problem, because this card at a length of 6.57" (167mm) is just bit too long.  The swing-up drive bay assembly inside the SFF case doesn't quite have the needed <167mm clearance in order to close properly with the graphics card installed.  It needs maybe just a... A:M910s M920s SFF: M.2 SSD and graphics surprises/problems (SOLVED: M910t with GTX 1050 installed)

Remarkably, the "local express" delivery from Newegg got here about noon!  Amazing.
But sadly, the Zotac 1050ti card which was 160mm (6.3") in length is STILL TOO LONG.
So, much to my disappointment, it appears Lenovo has reduced the internal space in these new SFF cases, making it just about impossible to use almost all graphics cards.  I have installed Sapphire R7-250 low-profile / HD7750 cards in multiple M93p SFF and M800 SFF machines, and had no problem whatsoever, even though that card is 170mm (6.7").
Obviously the previous generation of SFF cases simply was larger.  The SFF cases now being used for the M910s are just too small.  If I'd known this I probably would have gone with the tower machine, if only to be able to use my intended GTX 1050ti graphics card (which could have been full-size in the tower).
Anyway, I've now ordered a lesser graphics card than I'd intended, the MSI version of the low-profile GTX 750ti. because it's length is only 5.75" (146mm), which absolutely will fit.  But this card only has DVI and HDMI connections, thus lacking a DisplayPort connector.  It's also only 2GB of DDR5 memory instead of 4GB as in the 1050ti, and with a slower core clock speed.  Bandwidth is 86GB/s vs. 112GB/s for the 1050ti.  Thankfully, there is at least one of these relatively modern DDR5 cards which is short enough to fit even if it's not the 1050ti.
But it will physically fit, which in the end ... Read more

I had a problem with my HP Envy M6 laptop and needed to reinstall windows. I reset windows 10 and after the process was finished I noticed none of the software that originally came with my computer was installed. The Hp apps and dragon naturally speaking was missing. The recovery drive is still installed on my hard drive but I'm not sure how to get the software back?

Reverted to the factory image from Dell on this laptop with Vista 64. After installing the numerous MS updates, we are now experiencing random bsod's. Updated the Dell BIOS this evening, but still received a BSOD afterwards.

The minidump files have been attached to this thread. Any assistance in determining the cause would be appreciated!

A:Random BSOD after reloading factory software

The woes continue with this laptop and trying to refresh it back to the original factory settings. The BSOD started again yesterday after running OK for a few days. I restored the laptop back to the original dell factory settings, then proceeded thru the endless MS updates. That has all completed, but did see the BSOD return a couple times yesterday while rebooting after some of the updates.

Attached is the zip with the SF diagnostic tool results which analyzed the mini dump files.
