Preferred Solution: Inability to Access Advanced BIOS Setup on my bios menu

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm having issues with my graphics card and I need to switch my Intel off and Nvidia on. I saw on the internet that you need to enter the Advanced BIOS to do that. But for some reason, I can't see it in the BIOS. I am using an HP 15 Notebook PC.

I had wanted to change the minimum amount of memory to my intel HD 515 graphics and make some other tweaks for gaming, and I turned off my laptop, pushed the novo button on the side, it booted up and I chose the Bios setup option. I started going through the menus and I HAD an advanced menu which gave me the graphics memory options, it had overclocking options, option to enable NFC, 3D Camera and a bunch of other stuff. I even showed to someone, so I was NOT hallucinating haha. I had decided to reboot and wait so I could google a lot of the options as I didn't understand some of the super-super advanced settings. When I went back to the bios, no advanced menu is present and I can NOT get it back. A lot of stuff says you CAN'T get it, but I DID.  Anyone? Was it some super weird glitch or did I bump the right key combo? I did a google search and have found a few others that have also accidentally done this, including a screenshot of the SAME menu I got from another Lenovo user.

Hello,

I have a computer that is stuck in a loop and won't boot into normal or safe mode. There is a blue screen flashing up, but way too quick for me to be able to see the STOP code.

The problem I have is that the American Megatrends BIOS 2.51, has an option on the boot screen "Press F8 for BBS Popup". Therefore I can't use the F8 key to get into the Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Why the hell has a BIOS manufacturer hijacked an important Windows key?????

I have also tried pressing the F8 key AFTER the BIOS screen, but even by doing that you still get a boot order list by pressing F8, and not the Advanced Options menu.

Does anyone know how to either:
1. Disable the Press F8 for BBS Popup in the BIOS? (I've looked, so has a workmate, but we can't see it)

or

2. Is there an alternative to using the F8 key to access the Advanced Options menu?

Hope someone can help.

A:Windows XP - Can't access Advanced Options menu (F8 key hijacked by BIOS)

If your keyboard has a "F-lock" key, press it before F8.

The same issue from BIOS 1.2.5 is happening with BIOS 1.2.6. After the update, the boot screen remain totally black (no Dell logo) and you cant enter in the BIOS interface (no video at all).
The workaround is to downgrade to BIOS version 1.2.3
The windows boots as usual, and maybe this is the reason that users havent noticed this issue.
The bios upgrade/downgrade is automated. No mouse clicks are needed. Just wait computer to boot and wait some minutes. After this (blind) downgrade (because there is no video), you will see the dell logo once again and everything works as usual.

No, that is NOT the fastest computer to game on.  Here is a little primer ... E series devices are 'Entry level' products, designed for the casual user who wants to do the basics at a reasonable price.  These models are not targeted at heavy users like gamers, photo editors, video makers, etc.  For big time gaming power, take a look at the Predator line.  Now THAT is a gaming platform!

After googling all about it, i think it is a power problem related to the laptop, and i see people saying to go into the Bios advanced options, and turn off the stuff in Power Management. But i cant seem to figure out how to get into my Bios' advanced settings. The bios info is-- InsideH2O, Version F 2.9 i believe.

A:Pavilion dv6-7135nr Advanced Bios access and SSD drive

By locked down you seem to think there is another whole layer of options available if you can just get some kind of access. Not so. The BIOS are just simplified for consumer laptops. What do you mean the SSD is not visible? What operating system are you trying to install and how? The storage controller is set to RAID and a Windows 7 disk, for example, will not see a hard drive until you introduce the right F6 driver to enable the storage controller.

Not sure if this is the right place to post such a question, if it isnt, please direct me to the right board. I need to access the Advanced Tab to use IDE Compatibility mode, dual booting Windows XP to use legacy programs that dont work on a virtual machine. (poor 3d support) I know support for it dropped 2 years ago and some drivers might not work, but I need XP regardless. Anyway, after digging around the internet after my laptop kept shutting down during XP setup, I found out that I needed to enable IDE compatibility mode, but when I checked, the option wasnt there. My BIOS is  Insydeh20 Rev 3.7, version F.12. I am aware that accessing the advanced tab is risky, but I know there are safe(r) ways to do it. At this point, anything at all helps. Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

If you have tried FN+F2 when boot?
Or holding down Shift and clicking restart?
If those steps did not work either,  You might need to contact Lenovo Technical Support and have the system shipped to Repair Facility for BIOS Reflash.

Found this article but it is for the same model that has same issue like yours.

Hi Folks

I am having trouble with a new computer:

Processor dual core Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
kernel is 2.6.14.3-smp
AMIBIOS ACPI BIOS Rev 0206 (American Megatrends)
BIOS Setup Utility v. 02.53 (American Megatrends)

I am unable to enter the American Megatrends BIOS Setup Utility menu. As soon as the POST menu appears I hit the Delete key, and when the Setup Utility menu appears the PS-2 keyboard (IBM KB-7953) is locked (with num-lock on) and no keys work. No beeps, no error messages, no nothing. Unplugging the keyboard and plugging it back in does not help. I reset the computer and if I let the POST finish and the computer boots, the keyboard and mouse work fine.

When the Setup menu comes up, the cursor is at Main, and the System Time, and hours are selected. As I mentioned above the keyboard is frozen and I can't navigate around or exit with the escape key.

I tried entering the Setup Utility with another keyboard (USB) and got the same result.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Pete

I have a new motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3, Rev 3.0, with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor.

When I turn on the machine, the screen shows a blinking cursor for a few seconds, then sounds a single, normal beep; then the screen goes just black for a few seconds; then it attempts to boot.

It does NOT show the Gigabyte start-up splash screen, or give me any chance to get to the bios setup menu as it usually would.

It WILL boot my operating system successfully, though no USB or network devices work and I see some various hardware-like errors in the logs. So the bios is there, just not the bios setup menu.

If I try hitting delete or F2 while booting up to try to go to the bios setup menu, it will instead go the a blank blue frozen screen and need to be hard reset.

I've tried this with two different power supplies, two different cpus. I have two memory sticks, and I've tried it with both, and with each alone. Same result.

I've removed all hardware except the bare minimum, booting with only video card, monitor, memory, cpu, and DVD (to boot from). Same result.

It seems to me like there is something wrong with the motherboard. At least I can't think of anything else. What's even more odd is that I had this same problem previously, RMA'd the motherboard to Newegg, got a new one, and I'm having the same identical problem.

Anyone have an idea what the heck is going on here?

When the computer is booting and before windows starts it says "Press Del to enter setup."
I press delete, and then the setup screen flashes for just a fraction of a second before the system restarts.
If I don't try to enter setup, the system boots just fine.
I am using a H61M-P31-G3 motherboard, and I have the latest bios.
I just upgraded the CPU from a Celeron G530 to an i5-2310

Issue is to fix Display on VGA port.   I want the primary Display to comeup when I connect to VGA port.  Its taking 30 seconds to get display on the Monitor when ever I restart the HP Elite Desk 800 g1 during this 30 seconds the screen is blank.   I am trying to enter BIOS setup but unable to access the BIOS SETUP even though when I press F10 immediately after powering the PC.

My friend was attempting to go back to his original OS from WIN10 and the laptop died during the process. After booting we recieved error code 0xc00000605 upon start telling us a component is missing and we needed to repair. i got us a windows recovery disk and tried to boot it from the bios but i am unable to do anything in the bios except change the system date and time. If i could just boot it from the dvd i would be okay, any suggestions? laymans terms please!
