PowerPoint: Changing all the text at once

Q: PowerPoint: Changing all the text at once

I have inherited a lot of song files (PowerPoint) that need updating to fit our situation (We have the Copyright license).

What I want to do is change all the type on all the files to one or two fonts; change the color to white and add shadow.

This is very easy to do "One slide at a time"-- but very tedious. Is there a way to change the whole file at once (or even batch a bunch of them)?

I have PowerPoint and Open Office Impress available to me (In MSWord, I could just "select all" and change the type throughout the whole document-- it seems like it should be possible to do the same in Power Point-- but I am not finding it).

Your insights would be greatly appreciated,
letchworth

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You should be able to select all the text from the outline pane on the left side of the screen. try clicking in there and doing a CTRL-A to select all the text in the pane.

Running a Powerpoint 2003 slide show, there is one slide that has custom animation and builds the bullet points. It is easy to read the text in the text box on all of my computers except for a new Dell Studio running Microsoft Vista. The bullet points build as check marks but the text that should appear is not appearing. I am attaching the slide so that you can see the text that appears next to each check mark. I have checked the font color thinking that was the problem, but the color is the same on each computer that I am able to see the text on. Any ideas on what is preventing this from being seen on this Dell laptop?

This has got to be an easy one...I have a slide with three text boxes. I want first one to appear, then the next....then the final one. The most basic thing in the world. I have custom animation for each entrance. They are numbered/indicated as 1, 2, 3. But text box #3 won't appear in sequence; that is, it stays on screen while the first two appear. I want text box #3 to APPEAR with its custom animation...not be on the slide before the others.

I know it's basic....but couldn't figure it out....sorry....help!

Is there someway to enter a text box that acts like the ones on Layout templates - where text automatically increases/decreases in size as you enlarge/shrink the text box? I have tried "Insert" then Text Box, but it does not do it.

Thank you

A:Powerpoint 2003 - Text Boxes

I do not know of anything other than the layout text boxes which autofit. Have you looked into selecting all the text within the text box (click on the border or CTRL+A while inside the text box) and into using CTRL+[ or CTRL+] to increase or decrease the size quickly and easily? This neat little hotkey will work in MS Word as well.

I want to insert a picture into a text box (or text placeholder) on my slide, so that the text wraps around the picture. It works in Word fine, but need steps to do it in Powerpoint.

A:Powerpoint 2003 - Inserting Pix into Text Box

I don't believe that this is possible in Powerpoint. They do not have the same word wrapping properties as Microsoft Word. For a workaround, you can do this:

Create the image with the word wrap in Microsoft Word. Highlight or Ctrl+A to highlight all and right-click copy or Ctrl+C to copy contents.

Go to your powerpoint slide, go to Edit and Paste Special (You may have to hit the down arrows to show it in your edit menu) A dialog box will come up. Make sure to paste as Microsoft Office Word Document Object.

This should allow you to put word wrapping around object in powerpoint.

I use two computers to work on PowerPoint presentations. One has 2003, and the other has 2010. Often when I open a presentation on the other computer, the alignment of text changes. I think that in one version, text in a slide that uses bullets aligns to the left of the slide (under the bullet), and in the other version it aligns with the text after the bullet. Is there a way to prevent having to go through and manually tab everything into place when I use the other version?

You didn't say what version of Office was on the Other computer? 2003 or 2010? If you create a presentation in 2010 do you save it as an Office compatible version (97-2003)a .pps instead of a .ppsx? On the 2003 computer you can install the PowerPoint Viewer to see if that helps
Microsoft wants you to upgrade all your computer to at least Office 2007, soon all files created in newer versions of Office will not be readable in older versions of Office.

Hi,

On a blank presentation slide (white background), if you insert a hyperlink, the text color comes out default as this light lavender color. Hi all,

I have an issue with some text not changing when I change the slide master!

Here's what I did...A PPT presentation was devised with simple text contained within it. I wanted to amend the font and background colour, so I went to the slide master and made the changes I wanted. The background seemed to change but the text font remained the same!

I believe the problem lies where that the original document had a blank slide, and a text box was added to that slide, with text then put into it. This text seems to be the text that doesn't change when the slide master is amended.

Is there a way of being able to change the the text in the slides that have had these added text boxes added?

Kind regards
Glenn

Hi,

I've got an annoying problem in Powerpoint 2007. I want to make slides change automatically after X number of seconds, so I went to the Animations tab, and on the right under 'Advance Slide' I ticked 'Automatically After'. There is then a box to set the time before it changes, but I cant set it!

I CAN type in the box, but upon pressing enter it goes back to 00.00. It does not change from 00.00 if I click the up or down arrows.

I have tried this on a new powerpoint to see if it was anything I had done in my presentation but it did the same thing.

I have found a kind of work around by going to slide show>use rehearsed timings and then rehearsing the timings and saving them, however I want to match up music to the slides so I need it exact if possible.

Screenshot:
Perhaps someone could test this on their own powerpoint and see if the same thing happens? Or if anyone has any ideas that would be great Thanks.

Also Im using windows 7 and have office SP1 installed.

I am using Powerpoint 2003 on my notebook running Win 7 64-bit.
The problem is, EVERY time I click in a text box or placeholder to place the cursor somewhere in the text, Powerpoint immediately highlights (selects) all the text in the box up to the point where I clicked. So if I just click and type without thinking, it wipes out half my text - I have to click twice to actually position the cursor. This happens regardless of whether I use the trackpad or plug in a mouse.

Also, figures and placeholders very often move by a few pixels when I click on them. So if I right-click an image that doesn't have focus, instead of getting the usual menu I get the shortened one with "Move Here" etc. as if I'd right-clicked it and dragged.

Very annoying!!!

I use the same version of Powerpoint on two desktop computers (both running XP) with none of these issues. So, does anybody know if this is a Win7 problem, a notebook problem, or a Powerpoint setting I can fix?

By default, Internet Explorer will change the color of links that have been clicked on. This behavior applies to all web sites. If you open Internet Explorer and click Tools, Internet Options (Or just Options), you should see a button labeled Colors. If you click that, you can customize what colors the links are before they're clicked on (unvisited) and after (visited).

Windows 7 64-bit
I can adjust the display so it's large enough to read everything but the text. For instance, now have it set at 150% of normal and the title of this post is large but what I'm typing now is so small it's barely readable. MUCH smaller than 10-point.

There is a way to customize the display, but anything more than 150% is so large it overflows my wide-screen monitor. Surely there must be a choice between way too large and way too small, but I can't find it.

A message on my screen now says to run TSG Sysinfo, for information helpful in solving this problem. Last time I downloaded something similar, here, I ended up with a $40 Uniblue program on my computer that I had to fight like crazy to stop invading my world. I never got my money back, either. It would help to know what "TSG Sysinfo" is, before I commit to running it.

Thanks,
Bahb

A:Changing webpage text colours in IEx 11

The text colors are controlled by the web pages themselves, where the author has intentionally used pale grey text.

There may be an addon for IE that allows you to locally change the css style sheet to override the font colors. I don't use IE, but I don't think it includes that feature by default.

What I do on pages like that is I press CTRL-A to select all of the text, which sometimes changes the color of the text and the background of the lines to make it easier to read - obviously a very stop-gap solution.

If the touch pad is setup with a Scroll Zone, pressing CTRL+ScrollZone is same as CTRL+Wheel on the mouse, and will change text size in many applications. If they use keyboard shortcuts a lot like CTRL+C and CTRL+V that might explain it. You can disable the scroll zones in Control Panel | Mouse/Touchpad to see if that stops it.
