M-Audio Studiophile AV40 and Windows 7 Professional

Q: M-Audio Studiophile AV40 and Windows 7 Professional

I have a Medion PC MT7. i had a profile problem recently. It was fixed by a professional who bought and installed Windows 7 Professional. Everything works fine but I cannot see in Control Panel any mention of my hitherto excellent M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 speakers. On testing the speakers the left speaker (with the only volume control) sounds quite faint, so much so that when I listen to music on YouTube the music seems to come out of my right speaker only.

I am grateful for any suggestions. I live in London

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a machine utilising an Asus M4N82 Deluxe motherboard. I subsequently installed all current drivers for use with Win7 64 bit for the Mobo downloaded from the Asus website. Windows 7 itself found current drivers for the peripherals that it supports. For the first few days all ran well without any issues. Then Win 7 ran some updates and now whenever I awake my computer from sleep mode it tells me that the audio driver is not installed. A restart brings it back--or has so far--but what is causing it and is there anything I can do? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail. From web searches this sems to be a common problem with no clear answer which likely means it is an issue with MS at the root of it and unwilling or unable to address it.

FWIW, the machine is telling me that my power management system is missing a driver. I have downloaded it from the Asus website but have not installed it. Could this be the issue then? I'm reluctant to install it without some advice lest I make things worse.

A:Windows 7 Professional audio driver problem...

Are there any black exclamation marks inside yellow circles visible in Device Manager? If there are, right click the device and choose "Uninstall". Confirm that you want to uninstall the device and then right click the top of the device tree and choose "Scan For Hardware changes" to reinstall it again.

If the OS can't find the driver, click "Have Disk" and then navigate to the folder you saved the drivers to.

I have a windows 7 professional laptop. The audio stopped working suddenly. When i click on the audio icon (with a red x on it) the system tried to troubleshoot the problem. This is the error i see in the troubleshooter.
One or more audio services isn't is running
I tried to start the windows audio, windows audio endpoint builder. Neither of them started but gave some error.
When i tried to restore to a previous version i got an error message that there are some bad sectors on the C drive but could not run the checkdsk on that drive. Instead windows offered me to run it at next reboot. I did multiple reboots but the chkdsk never
ran.
I am don't have a windows reinstall disk. Can somebody point me where i can get the windows OS to reinstall it?

Hello alexfer and welcome to Seven Forums. Sorry you're having these issues.

You might want to read through this Microsoft article and follow the suggetions given.

No sound in Windows

Microsoft also has another article, "Tips for fixing common sound problems". There's a Fix it" button but use caution before using it. The article was originally prepared for Vista and should work for Windows 7 but I'd create a System Restore point just in case.

Some other things that could affect your audio include which antivirus you're using, any recent Windows Updates, and malware. You could also try running a full scan with Free Malwarebytes. It picks up things other products miss. Update the database before running.

I have a pre-owned Laptop-PC: Dell Inspiron 9100 installed with Windows XP Professional. The previous owner mentioned that he used nLite to mess with the system configurations, and it was missing the latest audio-driver.

So far, I've done this on Laptop-PC:
1. Installed INTEL Driver (Works).
2. Installed SIGMATEL Driver (Works, but still No Audio).
3. Went to my Device Managers section to see if there were any error-symbols (yellow icons with "!-symbols").

There's no sign of missing SIGMATEL audio-driver. All of the drivers I installed seem to work fine, except I still don't have any audio on the machine.

How can I force the audio to work on this version of XP? Do I need to go into my Windows folder & see if I'm missing a .dll file?

Thanks for your time & help, in advance. I'll appreciate any help on this topic.

The machine i am doing the downgrade is an HP 500B MT, I am using the HP Restore Plus DVD that came with the machine as well as the Operating System CD. I started the setup yesterday and it seems to be taking forever!!!

A:Downgrade from Windows 7 Professional to Windows XP Professional SP2

Hello teekash and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please forgive these questions - I mean no disrespect. Why are you downgrading to XP? Did you know that Windows 7 Pro has an XP Mode? Did the HP 500B MT originally come with Windows 7 or XP? If it came with 7 you may have issues trying to find XP drivers. Did you know that XP is now Microsoft's biggest security headache?

Windows XP Mode - Install and Setup

Windows XP Security Headache

As to why things are taking so long, one more question. Does the HP Restore Plus DVD have Windows 7 on it or XP? If it has Windows 7, why not do a clean install of XP using an XP installation disk? It will format the hard drive (erase everything) during the install process. But you may still have driver issues if the HP originally came wiht Windows 7.

I have strange problem, may be some one can guide me on to this. I have a P2, 400 MHz old machine running windows xp service pack2. It performed well according to its capacity till now. Now something strange is happening, once suddenly when i started windows it showed to have loaded only the basic hardware and software components. Copy option was available but paste option was in the gray. Net connection was visible only on the shortcut and that too did not work, and properties showed its target area to be in the grey shades. No sound was audible with any media player but system device manager showed every thing to be working fine. Tried to create new internet connection but the connect internet manually option appeared in the grey shade and not available. Could not understand any reason. Ran antivirus AVG and disk scan both showed every thing to be perfectly fine. Tried to repair windows with installer but after rebooting and setup showed fatal error again and again, frustrated reinstalled whole windows again and it all started perfectly but again after normal turn off and restarting windows same problem again appeared. Again reformated and reinstalled windows and everything started well but again at restart same problem. I have formated and reinstalled windows xp many a times but i just i can't understand the problem. I am an old computer user from 80286 family and DOS 4 and have good know how and usually almost always handle problems by myself but this time i am really... Read more

I recently purchased a Dell and the only way the hardware options I wanted would come is if the OS was Windows 7 Pro with an included Windows 10 Pro License.  So I received the computer and I would like to upgrade it from the start.  However, I can't seem to find instructions on how to do this.
I have looked at the How to Set Up your new Dell Computer on the Knowledgebase, but it does not mention my situation.
I have looked at the Windows 10 Upgrade Walkthrough on the Knowledgebase. But it does not mention my situation.
I have tried the WIndows 10 Downgrade System on the Knowledgebase, but again it does not mention my situation.

The computer came with a purple CD that sys to ensure that the BIOS setting is set to UEFI mode prior to installing Windows 10.  But if I adjust this setting and run the CD there is no mention about upgrading to Windows 10 in the options available.
The Windows 10 Upgrade walkthrough talks about updating the Windows 7 install with Service Pack 1, but none of the info that came with the PC shows an upgrade code which I would probably need since the Microsoft free upgrade time period has expired.
So how to I upgrade this new computer to windows 10?  Just wondering what info I am missing.  I assumed this would be simple.  I shouldn't have to reinstall all my preinstalled software and drivers on a brand new computer on day one.
Thanks,

A:Windows 7 Professional English 64bit (Includes Windows 10 Pro License)

You have a MSDM tab embedded in your UEFI BIOS which contains your Windows 10 Pro OEM Product Key. Windows 10 RS1 Installation Media will automatically input this Product Key during Installation and Windows will automatically activate when you are online. See here for more details:

Hi all,

I've got lots of photos on my Vista machine & would like to know if they'd still be there after upgrading. I've previously upgraded a Win7 machine using the auto upgrade feature which was impressive but I read that it won't work for Win8. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for?

A:[SOLVED] Upgrade from Windows Vista Enterprise x86 to Windows 8 Professional

If you do the upgrade ( versus a custom installation ) your data should be fine . . but you are taking a risk not haveing any data you cherish backed up . .

I am a college student enrolled in A+ PC Repair, for my A+ PC Technicians certificate, I recently downgraded my OS from Windows Media Edition to Windows XP Professional. I currently own a Gateway. As soon as I was able to get into the desktop, the computer had no recollection of any drivers, possibly because from scratch they were all outdated which meant that I needed a flash drive and another computer to download all the drivers. While I did that, the computer suddenly refused to read any usb ports, it read once, I used a Sony Flash USB Drive, and it had something like Virtual Compress, which I clicked just to see what it was, it seems like it didn't do anything however. Anyways after a few weeks of trying to figure out how to get it online, I was looking over the internet and doing various modifications to it. I eventually took the entire computer apart and put it back together ,which seemed to fix the speed issues and even allowed some drivers to be reread. However after I fixed the BIOS settings, to their default settings, and tried to get into the OS I started getting this Blue Screen error stating IO System Verification Error in NCIS.SYS (WDM Driver 24b) (NTFS.SYS+6a3fc at BAF1B3FC) and I cannot get into the login screen. However when I run the computer in Safe Mode, the computer runs perfectly, even with Safe Mode Networking. Any suggestions?

A:Downgraded from Windows Media Edition to Windows XP Professional...ERRORS!

First things first, how did you downgrade? What steps did you follow?

Next what "modifications" have you done?

As for safe mode, it would load fine as none of the drivers and non-essential files are loaded, so there are no conflicts etc.

Hey,

I'm going to take a guess and say you have more than one module of RAM? If this is true, take out all RAM minus one stick, so you have one stick in the system. This often happens, not sure why, but it does!

Regards,
Nick.

hello & welcome to sevenforums,

If you're already used to a 7 x64bits home premium you should stick with a 7 x64bits pro edition...seeing also your config.

Unless you need to run smoother some programs with windows 7 professional like Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 or MS Office 2010, you should install a x32bits Windows 7 Pro ed. but you'll be limited in Ram use.

I was given a nice computer with Windows XP Pro SP3 on it. Problem is, if I would ever have to reinstall the OS, I do not have the installation disk. I have been searching and find several companies that have the full version of Windows XP Professional SP2 that say "No Retail Box (OEM)" and also (DSP) which means that the CD is a Hologram CD and not a CD labeled by a specific manufacturer. I can order a full version No Retail Box OEM for about $125.00. If I purchase the full version with New Retail Box, it will cost about $225.00.

Don't want to get taken here - is the OEM version OK you think?

Separate question here:
Some company's offer it for as little as $55.00, but it states it does not come with a Certificate of Authenticity, that makes me nerveous??

A:Windows XP Professional SP2 OEM, DSP

OEM version is fine. You can find the OEM version on NewEgg for about that price. I would suggest buying that over the retail version. The OS is the same.

I purchased and Hewlett Packard with Windows 7 upgraded to Professional so I could use my XP programs. It has two program files - Program Files (for 64-bit) and Program Files (x86) for 32-bit.

I have a new program that I downloaded to my XP laptop just before it died so I now have it on my Win 7 Pro. Everything works fine except accessing the Help file(s).

The 32-bit program is installed in Program Files (x86). The hlp and pdf files are copied to all the software program folders I could find.

I have placed copies of both help files in My Documents, in My Documents>(software x), in Programs Files>(software x), and in Programs Files (x86)>(software x). None of them will open automatically when I click Help>Help Index.

I have downloaded both Windows 6.1-KB917607-x64.msu and -x86.msu. The x64.msu installs, looks for a pdf file but will only recognize and open a hlp file. Will not do it automatically - I have to 'Browse' to the file every time.

The x86.msu file will not install - Says "The update is not applicable to your computer". I have a Program Files(x86). ???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Barbara

A:32 and 64 bit Windows 7 Professional

It's been beaten to death on here, but those two program files directories are normal. One is for native x64 apps, and the other (Program Files x86) is for compatible apps that are not native x64 apps....just compatible ones.

For some reason, I vaguely remember reading that Windows 7 has issues opening .hlp files. I don't recall the reasoning, but that shouldn't be preventing you from installing XP Mode.

When trying to start-up the computer, it keeps cycling back to the screen with the different ways to start windows, such as, "safe mode", "last known good configuration", etc. None of these would work, so I ran CHKDSK C: /R and it stopped at 57% and gave me this message, "The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems". When I tried to use the XP cd to repair, I don't get the option to repair and instead of showing me "windows xp......" to choose, it says, Partition1 [unknown]. Any suggestions?
