320S-15IKB M.2 NVMe slot

Q: 320S-15IKB M.2 NVMe slot

Hey guys,3 months ago I bought 320S-15IKB (type 81BQ) 81BQ001KIV laptop that came with 2.5" SATA SSD, so I disassembled the laptop yesterday and there is an M.2 slot on the MB, but i'm not sure that it is functional, According to the manuals the MT on lenovo parts&accesories these NVMe SSD's are compatible Toshiba XG4 128G M.2 2280 PCIe-NVMe and Samsung PM961 MZVLW128HEGR PCIE 128G SSD But the M.2 slot looks a little bit weird, the keyed side has 4 pins instead of 5 on regular M.2 NVMe slot, how can I know that this M.2 slot on MB is functional? I have no spare NVMe drive to test and I don't wanna waste money to buy if it's incompatible in my motherboard Please check these pictures below, thanks in advancehttps://imgur.com/mtXmHO0https://imgur.com/oHeYUmyhttps://imgur.com/zCsDAiJhttps://imgur.com/TYjpT9C

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This is probably documented somewhere, but I wish to confirm normal behavior. Can I install M.2 SATA device in one of the two M.2-size slots, and NVME device in the other? Thank you.

IdeaPad 320s 15IKB Screen damage. ?03-12-2018 11:16 AMHi guys, I own an ideapad 320s 15IKB. the laptop has worked wonderfully for me as a student and im able to get my work done quite easily. However a couple days ago a problem with my screen arose. Towards the center at the bottom left there is a bright white spot about 2-3 mm in diameter, now i called lenovo about this and they said it would be covered if there was no external damage to the device, the problem is that 3 months prior the corner of the bottom cover of the laptop cracked leaving a fairly large hole, i called lenovo about this as well months prior and of course accidental damage is not covered in the warranty. I have also recieved a box to ship to lenovo for repairs however i am hesistatn on doing this.My worry is that lenovo will not cover my screen repair because of this cover damage that occurred 3 months prior. A picture of the damage of the cover is provided. If anyone can help me mediate this situation id greatly appreciate it.

I have 320S-15IKB from the new Intel's 8th generation that I bought a week ago, this machine is really great but there is one thing that annoys me, when PC gets into sleep mode, it won't return, the screen stays black, button button stocks blinking and there is no response from the keyboard, but it happens 60% of the times that it gets into sleep mode.I literally tried doing everything, I updated the BIOS to latest version, updated GPU driver, intel chipset and management, updated windows10 to the latest build and updates, reinstalled GPU driver a couple times. I've also changed OS power settings to disable automatic sleep, and turning off display manually, I have Linux disturbution along with windows 10, and it seems to happen also on the Linux OS.I don't know what to do already, it's driving me crazy, everytime it happens I have to force shut down the unit and it's just decreasing the lifespan of my laptop. I'll be greatful for who will find a solution.

A:320S-15IKB won't return from sleep mode

One thing that I forgot to note, I'm not using the NVIDIA GPU that comes with it, currently GPU set to UMA Graphics in BIOS.

Hello, I'm trying to install an M.2 NVMe SSD (XPG SX6000 256GB) into the Lenovo V330 15IKB, and it isn't recognized at all. I tested a Samsung PM951 256GB and it recognized it just fine. I also tested the XPG in another laptop and it worked as well. The PM951 and SX6000 should be identical in terms of type and protocols. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I am currently attempting to update the BIOS to 35 from 30, but I doubt that will accomplish anything. I will update here if it does. EDIT: BIOS update did not help, the XPG SX6000 is still not recognized.

I'm looking to buy the Pavilion 24-b277na, and looking up the specs on the HP website, I can see the Palau 2GF motherboard supports an M.2 SSD (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-24-b200-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series/13823536/docume...). Since the computer only comes with an HDD, I'd like to fit a small SSD into the M.2 slot. However, after a bit of reading it seems there's SATA M.2s and NVMe M.2s. I can't find out which type is supported by the computer. I'm also unclear on PCIe support - I looked up a review of a SATA Samsung 850 evo M.2, which states it doesn't support PCIe so many motherboards may not support it. So, does the computer support NVMe M.2s, and do I have to worry about PCIe support if I get a SATA M.2? Thanks in advance

I am almost positive that M2 slot inside my laptop has SATA connection and not NVMe. Can anyone tell me if Im wrong?

My T480 came with the standard 512GB NVMe SSD in-a-caddy. I'd need some more storage so am attempting to tweak the laptop, putting in 2 SSD into the 2.5" space. Here's my plan: M.2 2280 NVMe/SATA

M.2 2242 NVMe slot

Microsoft has released NVMe Hotfixes 2990941 & 3087873 that add native NVMe drivers to Windows 7.
However if I am say installing Windows 7 SP1 on say Samsung NVme drive and Samsung has released suitable drivers in the form of INF, SYS and CAT files, do I really need to integrate these MS Hotfixes in Windows 7?
Can Windows 7 SP1 supplied with Samsung NVMe drivers (Either slip streamed or during install) be able to detect Samsung NVMe drive and install itself on to it?
As the title says are those MS Hotfixes a must (sort of pre-requsite) to get NVMe drive detected during installation, apart from any vendor provided drivers?
Thanks.

up until windows preview build 14986, the pcie driver "Mobile 6th Generation Intel(R) Processor Family I/O PCI Express Root Port #5 - 9D14" (v10.1.1.27) correctly detects the "Standard NVM Express Controller" storage controller and the Toshiba THNSN5512GPU7 NVMe disk attached to it. starting with windows preview build 15002 (and 15007), the included pcie driver has troubles detecting the storage controller - during bootup, it is detected 4 times, with each time on a different device id. subsequently, the drive is also added 4 times, resulting in boot controller errors & timeouts and failed sleep mode/shutdowns. the included chipset driver in these latest builds seem to have been bumped to v10.1.1.33. the problem can easily be replicated by using unmodified recovery boot usb sticks made from the official isos, and then checking in a recovery console. it is thus not related to anything installed in my system.

A:Question about PCI-e slot below dual slot video card

My opinion ...

Yes, setting up like that will have an impact. The air flow to your GPU will be restricted so it will more than likely run hotter than it did. It may still stay withing recommended specs, but it will run hotter.

The motherboard has onboard sound (RealtekŪ ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ), any particular reason why you don't use that? Onboard sound is perfectly good for gaming and the like now, its not like older machines where you needed a dedicated card for decent quality. In my opinion, you only need a dedicated card if you are doing a lot of detailed audio work (mixing, remastering and other specific audio work). This would totally remove the issue.

The type of memory doesn't matter, its the type of interface the computer supports among a few other things to watch for.

You likely have a PCI-Express slot, as long as it a x16 slot it doesn't really matter if its a version 1.1 or 2.0 slot.

Is this for your Dell or another computer? Whats you budget and what needs do you have for the video card?

This is the strangest thing I've seen in the past 10 years of using computers. I have an Acer Aspire 7535-5020 laptop that came with windows 7, but I'm very picky and I wanted Windows xp back so I went onto Acer's website and downloaded all of the windows xp drivers and then formatted the laptop to Windows XP with intergrated Service Pack 3.

The computer works just fine except for one very strange oddity - the USB mouse I'm using only works when plugged into the first USB slot, it will refuse to work in the other 3 USB slots.

I'm using a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 USB which is my favorite mouse and I have 3 of them at home. When I was formatting the laptop, I had the mouse plugged into the first USB slot and now that is the ONLY slot it will work in. If I plug it into the other usb slots, the red laser will come on which means it's getting power, but it will not move the cursor and clicking either of the mouse buttons won't do anything.

When I have the Device Manager open, and I plug the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 mouse into the first USB slot, the 'Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0' entry will appear in BOTH the 'Human Interface Devices' tab and also the 'Mice and other pointing devices' tab.

That's known as integrated graphics, now do you have a PCI video card and an APG video card or an Integrated video card and an AGP card?

Also what are they Radeon xxxx? or Nvidia xxxx? we need to know the model numbers to tell you which is the better on to use.

A:can I add a AGP slot or PCI slot to a comp that doesnt have one?

You can't add a slot to a motherboard.

How old is this computer that it doesn't have a PCI slot? Those have been around for quite a while. Are you sure it doesn't have one? Even AGP is not new technology.

EDIT: After seeing your other thread, are you asking if you can purchase an AGP or PCI video card? That's a totally different question, and the answer would be yes depending on which slot your motherboard has. How much it costs depends on what you plan to use the computer for. A simple one is cheap, and high-end gaming cards can get expensive.

Hello All, I'm looking under the hood of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Carbon, and I'm trying to identify the PCIe slots.  In particular, the following page states that I should have 2 PCI Express Mini slots:  https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/solutions/pd027202 Now I see the WLAN card and the WWAN card, and my natural assumption is that these are both in PCIe ports, but on closer inspection I see that the WLAN card's slot is only 19mm wide, whereas the WWAN card is the standard 26mm width of normal PCIe Mini ports. This raises some questions:  1. Is the WLAN connected to a proprietary slot, or is this just a different type of PCIe standard?  2. If the WLAN is connected to a proprietary slot, where is my second PCIe slot? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Regards,Adam Zebrowski-az

A:Why is my WLAN card slot narrower than my WWAN card slot (PCIe mini)?

On closer inspection, it looks like my SSD connects to a similar-looking slot as my WLAN card.  I guess this means my WLAN card uses a SATA connection or something? I normally work with desktop PCs, so I'm unfamiliar with a lot of these laptop hardware standards. Regards,Adam Zebrowski-az-

It has been 2 weeks since I own this laptop, the laptop is pretty decent for my daily activity with the laptop. But my current problem is, previously FN + F8 (which is a key to turning on/off the camera) however is not working anymore. Back then it was working I just need to press FN + F8 to disable or enable my camera. The same problem as the FN + F7 (airplane mode). I know I can just do it manually on Windows but it's not practical the way we have these buttons.Thank you in advance.

Hi all, Firstly am new to the forum and have tried to search for my issue and not been able to find an answer.  Today I wanted to do a complete reset of my laptop. I restarted my laptop, whilst holding shift to bring up the reset options. I opted for a completed reset and deletetion of all files. Once done I was greeted by the log on page but the only user was 'other user'. So with no way to log on I went onto safemode to create another user which didn't work. I also tried removing other user and enabling admin, which didn't work. I've tried the repair image option on the reset page and it says admin not enabled.  Any advice would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance.  Will

Hello everyone.Recently I've bought Ideapad 320S-14IKB for my daughter. She was using it while AC adapter was plugged in, but for some reason it wasn't charging and the battery went completely empty. Now it doesn't charge at all and won't turn on. What should I do/check? Is there some simple solution or should I take it to the service?Thnx.
