Preferred Solution: Network Timeout Error Help!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello tag5183,

What browser are you using?

Try clearing the browser cache and temp files.

Did you check the spelling of the sites. The first site you posted isn't registering.

The second works fine.

I appreciate any help anyone can give me on this problem. I used to be able to access a website http://www.packratwiki.com just fine. In the past 4 days though I have been unable to access it. I have tried using IE and Firefox on my desktop computer using XP. I also tried to access it from my laptop which has Vista using our wireless network with no luck. The only thing different I have done to my computer was add an external drive for storage. I have unplugged and uninstalled that though.

This only began happening AFTER I installed SP1. I have since uninstalled it.

SP1 created a WAN Miniport issue, that I also corrected.

After I uninstalled the WAN miniport, things were working pretty well until tonight. Now I am getting the error, and download speeds as low as 46kpbs. I connected to my router with a cable instead of wirelessly and the same thing happens.

Please help! Any advice that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. I had just installed AGV anti-virus, which includes a link checker and a webshield. i disabled them both and restarted the web browser and my internet works fine now. I suggest you check your anti-virus program and your firewall try disabling them for a min, just to see if they are causing the problem.

Forgive me if this has been solved before--I've been searching the entirety of the Internet since Wednesday and haven't been able to fix things.

The video-game website www.Destructoid.com is timing out every time I try to visit it, without fail, for five days (you know, standard Network Timeout error - too long to respond, etc.). This is the ONLY website timing out for me. Before that I visited it almost daily without any problems at all for three months. The timeouts occur in both the latest version of FireFox (3.0.8) and Internet Explorer 7.

I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack 3 with a wireless connection.

I'm able to ping the site in the Cmd console, getting a consistent 51ms average speed with 0 packets lost. I'm also able to run a complete trace route (it times out on the first hop, but the next ten hops go through).

I know the site isn't down because I'm able to visit it via proxy (pagewash.com), and I know it isn't my ISP (Comcast) because of a friend about a mile away who got in without a hitch. I also know I'm not using any proxys I'm unaware of thanks to Lagado.com/proxy-test.

I've cleared all caches, deleted all histories, flushed the DNS, ran Spybot/Ad-Aware/McAfee AND Winsock, and reset my Linksys Wireless Router. And everything except McAfee was downloaded in desperation AFTER the problem began, so they certainly aren't causing it. I've disabled their... Read more

This is a follow up to another problem I had, but the problem I had before I consider 'solved' since the goal was to get my browsers online. If you think knowing about the situation might help, though, the link is: http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/846465-solved-browsers-dont-work-zonealarm.html

Problem: Browsers only connect to the internet for five minutes after computer is booted up, and I can browse websites freely for five minutes. After that, it will stop working and blame a Network Timeout (firefox). Internet Explorer won't connect either.

Problem before this Problem: Browsers wouldn't connect to the internet (all other programs would). Zonealarm went rogue on me, and we had a difficult time uninstalling it and all its components. Windows Security still says Zonealarm firewall is protecting it, though.

Odd Fact: All other internet programs run fine. Connection is excellent and only web browsers are effected. All other computers on the network work fine.

I'm not sure what would cause a Network Timeout, though. Especially once it lets me online for the first five minutes, then decides to go haywire after that. Do you think its a delayed startup of some program causing it? If we can't come to a solution I may just have to reformat :<

Version of IE (Internet Explorer) - 7

Operating System - Vista Home Premium

What you have tried - Very little as I don't know what I'm doing.

This morning the internet on my laptop (both firefox and IE) was working as normal and I had no problems with it however now half the websites I look at come up with Page Load Error - Network Timeout. Also the speed of the computer has gone down greatly.

I've tried looking for other solutions online but unfortunately most sites I try don't load.

This is what the error message looks like:

And this is what Windows Network Diagnostics said:

Other than windows firewall i don't believe there are any other firewalls on my computer. This is just happening on my laptop and not on my desktop computer.

Thank you for reading, I'm ready to give more information if needed.

Edit: Sorry, I've realised this probably isn't the right forum to be asking in.

I'm having some problems connecting to my home network. Whenever I choose my wireless network it keeps showing "Waiting for the network..." and after a while it vanishes without connecting.
I have a dell xps M1210 with a intel wireless 3945ABG and so far I have tried the TCP/IP stack repair by entering these commands:

netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log

However that did not solve the problem.
I can connect to my neighbors wifi without any issues (for just testing).
But I know my router is functioning correctly as I can connect to it via wireless from 2 other devices.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, any help would be appreciated.

This question has been previously asked but no successful result was given and the discussion ws closed "http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/1003554-network-connection-timeout-some-users.html"

I'm running a media server on a Windows 7 Professional PC. There are a number of PC that use it, including another Windows 7 box, a few Windows XP machines and a small media player (to convert media codecs before the TV).
My Windows 7 box is able to continually connect to the media server no problems. The Windows XP machines and the media player continually get refused connection.

After rebooting the media server they are able to connect again, but within a day (have not timed exactly how long) they are unable to connect again.

I've checked hibernate and sleep and both are set to never. One possible solution was to do with DHCP lease time, but it was never explained how to set this or if it fixed the problem.

I've also tried every combination of permissions I could think of on the media server files but none seem to fix the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is some info about the situation/things i've tried doing:

* They timeout on my home network but not at uni
* Scanned with Malwarebytes and Trend Micro with no issues reported
* Tried ipconfig/flushdns, ipconfig/release, ipconfig/renew to no avail
* Tried using a manual IP address and DNS to no avail
* Everybody else on my home network is experiencing no issues
* Other computers can acess the websites I'm failing to access
* Tried on IE, Firefox and Chrome and none work
* Positive that my firewall isn't an issue

I have a network set up with file sharing. I use a Windows 7 PC to host files that are shared with around 8 other PCs - some on Windows 7, some on Windows XP. The file sharing works but sometimes some users are unable to get access to the files. The error message is something like \\PCNAME is not accessible...

The user can connect if the machine storing the files is restarted but it will happen 4-5 times during the day. Any ideas why this might be?

Hi there,

This is my situation: I have a virtual machine running, and a network drive which is mapped to that machine.

The problem here is that when I am trying to login on windows, windows is first trying to connect to that mapped network drive - which it cannot because my virtual machine has to start up first. This results in a rather long login-time.

So my question is, is there some (registry) setting which allows me set this connection timeout to 0? Or that it won't automatically reconnect the drive at login?
Of course the setting 'Do not automatically reconnect at login' is too obvious and does not work, because it also removes the whole mapped network drive at system restart - in my situation the drive should be there, just not connected.

Thanks in advance!

A:Timeout mapping network drives at windows login

Why don't you remove the mapped drive. And just create a logon script to run at start up, to re map the drove each time windows boots. That means windows will boot up first . Then it will run the batch file automatically to map the drive.

I use DOS commands in a batch to synchronizing data across a network. Problem is that sometimes a network drive is present and sometimes not. This is by design.

At present, Windows will spend about 30 seconds looking for a non-present network drive before it times out and goes to the next line in the batch. Is there a way to cut this 30 seconds down to, say, 5- or 7 seconds?

OK I have a Toshiba Laptop or Notebook (whatever its called) and it has Windows Vista. Since then, every time I use the internet, which is Mozilla Fox, and if I load more than one page it gets a Network Timeout saying the site took to long to respond. This never happened to me before and I don't know what to do. I understand if it takes to long to respond but since the crash it does it way to often like every minute. What can I do? I already used the restore CD again but nothing. Is it because the Mozilla or is there something wrong with my computer. And also it is not the connection because I have perfect signal because the the router is just in the next room. Also if I play a game online like Maple Story or Combat Arms or even Call of Duty it will sometimes lose the connection. Please some one help!!

Hi everyone!

First of all, I was not quite sure of the forum's section where I should post this issue. Please relocate it if i made a mistake! :) I hope someone will be able to help!

Description of the problem. A few weeks ago, Chrome started having trouble accessing websites. It would load the results of a search, but wouldn't allow to load the websites themselves. Soon, the same thing happened on Firefox, the only other browser I currently have. After some time, none of them even loaded the results of a search; despite the fact that the connection (wi-fi) is, and has always been, very good. I don't know exactly what triggered the problem; since i haven't downloaded anything of a suspicious origin lately (or opened a suspicious .exe). Features of other programs that require an internet connection (ex: Avast or Steam updates) cannot proceed either. I tried to connect to several boxes, but the problem remained.

Here are the things I did to try to solve it, and the results:

- Turned off and on the box. --> Access to the sites came back to normal, but only during two hours or so: after that the connection timed out again. Restarting the box again did nothing.

- Ran a boot-time scan with Avast, and a full scan. --> It did nothing.

- Did some cleaning with CC Cleaner. --> Didn't help either.

- Used my phone as a hot-spot, and connected my PC to it. --> Access to websites came back during two hours, then stopped working.

- Looked for similar prob... Read more

I have installed Nero 6 (v6.3.0.0) on my computer running Windows Me.

I can listen to audio CD's, write audio CD's, copy from one data CD to another, and read software data from a CD.

But when I try to write data to a CD, the process starts but then hangs. My hard disk access light stays on all the time and the light on the CD drive flashes. After about 2 mins the Nero log tells me there is a timeout error.

Because the process doesn't go to normal end of job I don't get any log from the program.

The data I want to write are jpg files, but the same thing happens when I try to write a small Word document. I have tried it with and without my anti-virus, but it makes no difference. I tried creating a mixed disk of audio and data. The audio was written OK, but the data hung the system.

Any suggestions appreciated.

A:timeout error using nero burning rom

Hi – welcome to the board.

Easy solution – skip the stupid simulation. You only have a problem if you can’t write a CD. You don’t necessarily have a problem if you can’t do a test burn. There doesn’t seem to be any relationship between a successful simulation and a successful burn, so most people learn to just skip the test and go straight to the burn.

Make sure your Nero is up to date: http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm and go to your burner manufacturer’s site and get the latest firmware.

Have you uninstalled SpywareBlaster? If not, try it and then see if you can access the sites above. If you can, then download a new copy of SpywareBlaster and install it - can you still access the sites?

I recently build a new system and I have been having trouble getting it up and running. I am encountering several issues, but this BSOD is the only one that gives me any information. Here is what is in the system:
New Items:
Intel i5-4690k
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI
CoolerMaster Hyper TX3
Corsair Vengence Pro 8gbx2 DDR3
Rosewill RNX-N250PC2 Wireless N card
Thermaltake TR2 TR700 700W power supply
Thermaltake Commander G41 case
Transcend MTS800 M.2 SSD
Items from older PC:
Asus GTX 670
Various HDDs from older systems, one of which still has Win 8 installed.
Upon boot, I get one of three issues occuring.
1) BSOD with the watchdog timeout error
2) An 0xc000000e error
3) system locks up at Windows logo with spinning ring, just after the start page loads, or while using the system within 5 minutes of startup.
I have tried putting the ram in single and dual channels. I have verified they are in the correct slots with the Gigabyte manual. I have run them one at a time. So, I think if it was memory, both sticks would have to be faulty.
I have tried installing and re-installing windows to the SSD multiple times. The furthest I have gotten was setting up my Windows account. After the following reboot I ALWAYS start getting error 1, and sometimes get error 2 before the Windows load screen. I have tried downloading different copies of Windows online just to make sure I didn't have a bad copy. I figured I could update my license ... Read more

So I have recently bought a new GPU for my pc build, (AMD R9 290), fitted it and installed all the newest drivers since having fitted it the PC keeps on powering down and rebooting. Three times in one night etc. It's not under and load or at any specific point, can do it at idle it just seems to be completely random. Event log says this every time;
"A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Component: AMD Northbridge
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error
Processor ID: 0"

As the GPU was new and a big step up from previous I thought it could possibly be the PSU, so since bought a Corsair 850W psu (over specced) but wanted to make sure it would be okay.
Error is still happening obviously.
I have updated to the latest BIOS from the asus website. I have done a memory check using memtest 86 all fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the GPU but still the same problem.
Processor is AMD FX-4170 not over clocked, I just dont know what the problem could be.
I was hoping if any of you guys could shed any light on it.
Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
(hope it all makes sense I have typed this quickly in fear of it rebooting haha!)
Can upload the mini dumps if that will help.
Thanks guys!

Check your voltage that your cpu is getting. This problem occurs between the AMD Northbridge and the cpu. Find out a) What the voltage that the cpu is supposed to be receiving, b) what the actual voltage the cpu is receiving via the BIOS, and c) if the voltage is off either set it to the recommended specs and if that isn't the case edge up the voltage in the BIOS and see if that brings stability.

I am running this query from enterprise manager and i currently only have the Evaluation version which is being run off of Windows XP Professional.

Hi, izzy. I have a feeling this would be better in the networking forum. What do you think? Shall I move it? Generally, us software people don't get involved in this stuff.

Hello,I hope someone can help. My computer was running really slow recently, so I upgraded Avast Antivirus and spybot. I downloaded CCleaner and Comodo Internet Security and now everything works great except now my wife can't log on to her community college website (www.ccp.edu). She goes to www.ccp.edu and clicks on myccp, enters her username and password and it automatically says 'Session Timeout'. Every other website and login is fine. Any help????? Thank you in advance.Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Session Timeout Error when logging into website

Hi lpac1,Comodo Internet Security is a security suite, meaning it has both a firewall and an antivirus program in it. If you are running both Comodo Internet Security and Avast, you have two antivirus programs running, and you need to uninstall one of them. The problem with your wife's connection is likely a firewall program. She will need to talk to the IT department at the community college and ask them for instructions. But first, try uninstalling Comodo and see if you still have the same problem. Comodo has a standalone firewall which is very good here: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/dow...d_firewall.htmlLet me know if this helps.Zllio

Hey all,
I recently tried to play kingdoms after a long period of not playing and got the following error msg. Unable to authenticate original disc within time limit. Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=timeout for further, more detailed information.I tried uninstalling the whole game(game and expansion) then reinstalling it. I had no problem reinstalling the original game but kingdoms keep failing. So i thought the CD was corrupt and bought a new one. still didnt workI managed to install one of the four expansion games and the upgrades for the original game (dont know how) but mostly kept getting the same error msg when installing or installation freezes.
The people at securom are no help. They told me to run /secuexp through my command line on the CD but that just opens up the setup on the CD (this is how i got part of the game installed)
Does anyone know why this is happening? How can i resolve the issue?Ive attached my dxdiag fileThanks
