I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,I'm now using Ideapad Z510. After upgraded to Windows 8.1. I'd went to the Lenovo website searching for new driver update. But, after i install the "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7023", the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is not running(audio sound not playing through). And, the "Dolby Digital Plus" is running instead of "Dolby Home Theater V4".Then, when I try to reinstall the older version "Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.6954" from Lenovo website, the "Dolby Home Theater V4" is running again.Truly, the "Dolby Digital Plus"'s sound is crisper and louder than "Dolby Home Theater V4". But the sound of "Dolby Home Theater V4" has more bass and more function (like Graphic Equalizer, more Intelligent Equalizer etc.).Is this an update or what? What should I choose? The newer driver (for Windows 8.1) or older driver (for Dolby Home Theater V4)?  Thanks. (confused now) @@

A:Dolby Home Theater V4 changed to Dolby Digital Plus after Realtek Audio Driver update Windows 8.1

I only installed audio driver ver. 6.0.1.6798 which includes Dolby Home Theater V4. Since no issues are encountered I have not updated to the latest version for my unit (ver. 6.0.1.7027). Does this Dolby Digital Plus mentioned by you better than V4 in some aspect aside from the ones that you already stated?

Hello,
since a few days I've been getting this msg pictured below whenever I start up my laptop. I don't know why. I've tried to find the older driver somewhere as a download or something, but apparently it's not that easy. Also the audio works fine, just maybe a little worse than before but I might just be imagine that. Anyone know a solution for this? Do I need a solution for this?

Your current version of the Dolby Audio Driver is 7.2.8000.17. The software needs the version 7.2.7000.7. Please install a compatible version of driver and software.

Hi there ..... Realtek Audio Driver ... I believe is the cause of this ...... Have you updated that Driver? .... You should only get updates for your Drivers from your Manufactures web site ..... But if all is working well i would tend to leave things alone .... You should be able to turn the Notification off .... By clicking on the task bar and Customize .... Scroll down to Dolby Profile Sector and select Hide

Hi there,

I just upgraded to Wndows 10 Home from Windows 8.1; everything went smoothly except for the fact that Dolby Home Theater v4 does not work. I had to reinstall it using the .msi file found in the Realtek Audi folders. I chose v4 over any of the other versions because I like how I can tune the equalizer to my liking and different uses. Anyways, the regular audio works and Dolby is turned on but there is no activity appearing on the equalizer and my music does not change once adjusted. Had this problem when doing an optional audio driver update in the past when I was running 8.1. I do not have the option to rollback the driver after upgrading to Windows 10. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or know what the correct Realtek driver is to make Dolby work? This is one of my favorite features of my laptop and I really want it up and running again!

Thank you in advance!

A:Z580 - Dolby Home Theater v4 not working after upgrading to Windows 10

For those of you still struggling to find the solution to get your Dolby Home Theater v4 equalizer back on Windows 10, you are in luck. Warning: I highly reccomend cresting a backup before starting this process in case anything goes wrong. There are multiple ways to do that and I usually create a restore point and a system image.Step 1: Install Dolby Home TheaterIf you know that it is installed already skip to Step 2. Look under the control panel to see if it is listed there, if it is go to Step 2, if not go to C>Drivers>Realtek Audio Driver>PCEE4>DolbyHomeTheater.msi and double click and install the software. Restart your computer!Step 2: Uninstall Realtek High Definition Audio speaker driverGo to the device manager and expand Audio inputs and outputs. Right click and hit uninstall where it says: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio). Hit scan for hardware changes. If it still shows the speakers listed, right click and uninstall again. Hit scan for hardware changes and it should be gone. Do not restart your computer!Step 3: Install the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver that is compatible with Dolby Home Theater v4Go to D>Drivers>Audio>Setup.exe and double click and follow the process. If it asks for a restart after uninstalling the driver go ahead and do so. Then it will install the compatible driver and ask for a restart again to finish, do it.Step 4: Install DolbyGo to this website:http://www.thewindowsplanet.com/3765/dolby-home-theater-missing-a... I have been upgrading some Lenovo laptops recently to Windows 10. Mainly Thinkpad E531 and E545. Each time I upgrade one, it reboots saying: Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver. Please restart the computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists." Restarting the laptop does NOT solve the problem. Reinstalling the driver does NOT solve the problem. Unstalling the Conexant 20671 and drivers via Device Manager does NOT solve the problem. Uninstalling the Dolby drivers does not work, either through Settings>System>Apps and Features or through Control Panel. Nor does reinstalling the driver after that. (Although, to be honest I am not sure i am installing the correct driver as I cannot find one for Windows 10 on the Lenovo site.) I tried searching for Dolby is the C: drive search bar for a Dolby.msi (as per this posting https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-11e-Windows-E-and-Edge/Dolby-advanced-problem-with-E531/td-p/1... ) but couldn't find one in the search results. Whilst it is easy to click OK on the error box, it is annoying when it is day after day after day after day etc etc etc. Can someone please help? This is ridiculous.

hi zwrtronpxict,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try Reinstalling Audio / Dolby Components in this order

Open Device manager and Uninstall the Audio Driver. (make sure to place a check on delete driver software prompt to rid of the driver completely from your system).

Then Open Control Panel / Uninstall a program and Uninstall all Dolby Component
then delete the Driver Backup under C: / Driver  / conexant folder.

Now Download the WIndows  Audio Driver and Install it
for your System, Here it is  Conexant Audio Driver
After Extraction and Installtion completes.
this will Creata a new back up under C: Driver folder.
Open that and find the DolbyGUI folder Open that and you'll find the Dolby Install that matches your Audio Driver

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Just upgraded to Windows 10 on my Ideapad N585. On startup get a message Dolby audio driver didn't load. I seem to remember this issue upgrading from Win 8 to 8.1, but don't remember the fix. Do we have to wait for an updated driver? I have sound, but not sure what driver it's using. (haven't even found drivers yet) Another issue I discovered is that I couldn't turn off the touch pad using Fn+F6. The Elan driver settings do have a box to disable the touch pad when using an external pointing device, though, so that's not a major issue.

G'day From Australia I'm basically trying to help people with Dolby Home Theater 4 if they have Realtek Audio Software installed.

Okay so if you're getting an error message saying the driver is wrong when you install Dolby - you'll have to go to Control Panel then Programs then uninstall programs and uninstall Dolby.

Once it's uninstalled use you're file browser (the yellow folder near the start Button) and click on C drive. Click on Programs and Find the "Realtek" folder. Click on "Realtek" then click on "Audio" click on the file "PCEE4" then click on "Dolby Home Theater" this will install the right version for Windows 7 - simply follow the promps, and you good to go - remembering you need to click on the short cut of Dolby on your desktop and click the on button to activate Dolby.

Hi, I purchased my computer (specs below) about two years ago. After an update approximately a week ago I had two problems with my audio:

1) My Dolby Home Theater cannot automatically open. If I try to open Dolby Home Theater or troubleshoot it it will automatically shut down. As soon as I log into my computer I get an error that reads more or less that "Dolby Audio cannot open; please restart or reinstall the driver if the problem persists." Alternatively, if I reinstall my Realtek Driver from what's on the Acer website for my computer, I receive a prompt that PCEE4 needs to be installed, which completely halts the installation process.

2) I think the Dolby issue is probably causing trouble with my media players. Windows Media Player, will give me an error message (error C00D11B1, to be exact) if I try to play music or video. When I troubleshoot, it just says that the media library is corrupted. It will only detect, not apply a fix. I've attempted to un and reinstall via Windows Features to no success. I'm also having issues with Media Center and Quicktime (the former will not play at all, the latter it will play but without audio). Music will play fine on all other applications, including Firefox, Chrome, Windows Movie Maker, and Skype.

I've

1) attempted system restore- earliest I can go back is two days after the update
2) attempted re installation of Realtek- could not finish; states PCEE4 must be installed
3) turned Media Player and Media Center off and on ... Read more

I nave a inspiron 7720 with dell audio installed. However after recent creators update i have access to dolby for headphones .  i was wondering whether combination of both softwares would damage laptop or earphone speakers?

A:Is it safe to use dolby access windows 10 feature with dell audio drivers? will it affect speakers ?

For best results, I would try to use only one or the other at a time, i.e. disable as much of the Dell Audio processing as possible when using Dolby Access and vice versa.  But even if you didn't do that, it wouldn't be "unsafe" to have both. The main use case for Dolby Access seems to be in order to transmit Atmos audio, though. That can only be sent as a bitstream audio signal on HDMI to an AV receiver that is capable of decoding Atmos, and Dell Audio's processing wouldn't affect a bitstream signal at all.

Hi, There isn't an audio driver listed for your notebook under Windows 10 - have you tried using the Windows 8.1 IDT driver on the following link? http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59802.exe Regards, DP-K
