I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hope this is the right place to put this thread..

Ok so let's start with the basics:

My laptop:
Windows Vista Business
ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 (32bit)

My problem is that the sound from my laptop works perfectly when plugged in but my video doesn't show instead just the blue screen. About 3 months ago I was able to use it fine but now for some reason my video doesn't want to work :/

off the top of my head
- Now I have searched for hours on help sites, etc with no real solution.
- I've invested in a RCA to RCA cable to attach to my adapter provided with the laptop when I bought it.
- When I plug it in nothing happens, even pressing Fn+F8 - it continues to say LCD whereas it used to come up with PC or TV or something
- The computer recognises that the tv is present when I set it to 'force tv detection'
- The TV remains blue screened after all of this

That's all I can think of for now. But does anyone have any idea why my video isn't showing up on the tv?

A:Unable to connect Laptop to TV

do you need to toggle through F4 at all to output the screen, you do for the VGA connection, not sure on your connection, I assume you are connecting via S-video

So I have a HP laptop with Windows 7 and just recently my computer hasn't been able to connect to my internet. I'm not sure if I got a virus, but I ran malwarebytes and it didn't find anything.
It was working fine a couple days ago and then the next time I turned it on it seemed fine but I noticed the date had changed and the year said 2009. I changed the date to the actual date but since then my laptop won't connect to the internet. I tried running it in safe mode w/networking and it still won't connect to the internet.
I tried doing the troubleshooting stuff and it ends up saying "There may be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection Adapter".
I know my wi-fi is on and the light on my keyboard is on but when I open HP connection manger it says that the wi-fi has been disabled by the Mobility Center.
I tried opening up Windows Mobility Center but I don't see anything where I can turn on the wi-fi.
I've also checked my Network Connections and my Wireless connection is diasbled and when I try to enable it, it says "enabling" but it never actually turns on and stays disabled.
I don't have an ethernet cable so I'm not sure if it's just the wi-fi or my computer in general.

Nevermind, I fixed the problem!

My laptop HP compaq presario c700 (Windows Vista) has problem connecting to the internet for almost 1 month. If i try to connect to the internet, it is giving the error "wireless association failed because windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access point". I found in this forum that one had almost the same issue and changed the channel and it worked. I wanted to try it but don't know how to change the channel. Infact, I don't know what a channel is ! Can anyone guide me what I am supposed to do in order to change the channel?

A:Unable to connect my laptop to the internet..

How far away is the router?

The channel can be changed in the router's settings after you log into the router. If you have other devices around that use that range (surveillance cams and other things), changing the channel might help. Does it work better if you are close to the router?

(The channel option might also have an "auto" option where it chooses a channel by itself that is not in use.)

I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 8 already installed and it's basically setup except I'm unable to switch my current Internet connection (normal modem, not wireless) to this new laptop as it keeps suggesting I setup a wireless network to use the Internet. Is this really mandatory or can I continue using my current connection, and if so, how? Or can I set up a wireless connection without buying a wireless router?

Any help is appreciated - I'm not great with technology.

Malware problems take priority on BC. This means if you have a malware problem, or even suspect one, that gets dealt with first. On that basis I am going to close this topic.
You will be most welcome to come back to the Win 8.1 section to start another topic if you are still having 'MyDrive' problems after the malware is cleaned up.

Hello I own a HP pavilion dv7 laptop and I'm having trouble connecting to my home connection. My laptop connects to other connections but my desktop PC and gaming console are connecting to the "broken" internet just fine so I'm assuming it's the laptop.
I've tried unplugging the modem/router for minutes, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adapter device ((It now keeps coming up as "unidentified network" instead of the original name for the connection; Should I be concerned??)), and even just stopped using the laptop for a few days to see if somehow that would fix it.
I've troubleshot it and it says theres a problem with my access point/router but I don't see how that's the problem if everything else is working fine. I've spent 3 hours looking into solutions to this problem and I've come accross that the router may not be giving the laptop an IP to connect too but I'm still not sure how to fix this issue or if it's another issue all together.

If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

All right I have been searching on this subject for a while and I am hoping I can find help here. So far I have baffled my instructors on this subject at school and I am hoping you can get me on the right track. My laptop does not connect to the internet at all, via Ethernet or wireless but can connect wirelessly through my local network and I can see my other computers and printer. I have tried reconfiguring the DNS and reconfiguring the IP address. I also took the suggestion of removing the gateway and that didn't help. So what else am I missing? I haven't wiped the computer yet to reinstall the OS as I had done that two months prior to the computer not connecting to the internet. I have all ready checked the switch on the front of the computer and it is set to on. All my other computers have no problem connecting to the modem. My computer: Windows XP version 2002
My brand new laptop: Windows 7 Premium Familial Edition

I have no clue what I am doing wrong, I changed the workgroup of my laptop to the same one as my computer and it's not working.

My lovely wife has a Samsung Notebook, whilst online recently, as the cursor was being moved over the screen, somehow something was accidently clicked and lo and behold, a virus was into the notebook and causing havoc!
The virus would stop all sorts of activities on the notebook, we could not use system restore, we could not run our anti virus and could not access the internet.
We have had some help referring to sites as Malwarebytes which we downloaded and ran, this removed some infection then we ran SuperAntispyware which removed many more bugs from the system.
Having rid the laptop from the virus, however, we can't connect to the internet.
Please, is there anyone who may be able to help!

Open Internet Explorer. Then Go to TOOLs, then Internet Options, Select the connections tab. On the bottom you will see Lan Settings click on that. In the lower half of this screen you will see " Proxy servers" make sure both boxes are unchecked. Once your finished click OK, then OK and Close out of IE and bring it back up and you should have connectivity..

Since I've bought my laptop, I've tried unsuccessfully to share files between my two computers through my router, which both computers were connected to with an ethernet cable. About two days ago, I finally got all of the settings right and was able to access files from each computer on the other. However, afterward I took the laptop upstairs and piggybacked on my neighbors wireless internet. The next day when I went back downstairs and plugged in the ethernet cable I found that I was unable to connect to the internet through the cable anymore, either through the router or directly to the modem. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

I am on holiday in Spain attempting to connect to a residential wireless network on a router that was installed up by an engineer this morning.

When the engineer was here he connected an HP laptop using XP to the wireless router. At first there was an issue with the connection (seemingly the same error message I am getting now), he did something to the wireless settings on the laptop, which stupidly I didn't see, and it successfully connected.

When I attempted to connect my laptop to the same wireless router I got the same error message:
'Connection Unsuccessful'
I clicked Diagnose Problem and got this:
'This computer has got limited or no connectivity'

I first selected the 'Automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter' but this didn't solve the problem. I then viewed the Wireless Network Security Settings and as far as I can see they are identical to those on the HP laptop that has successfully connected:

Security Type: No Authentication (open)
Encryption Type: WEP
Network Security Key: **********
Key Index: 1

I then connected my laptop to the router using the ADSL cable and was able to connect to the internet, but I am still unable to get a wireless connection. When I view the wireless connections I am 'Connected With Limited Access'.

I have included information below about laptop/router types. I'm not sure if anything else is required. Please also bear in mind I am in... Read more

Have you got the correct password for WEP for the wireless setting
remove the wireless profiles and reconnect and re-enter the password - see below

whats the make and model of the router - i would log intothe router and remove the WEP setting and see if you can now connect

Wireless Profiles
- Vista/Windows7:
- delete the wireless profiles
Start> control Panel> classic view> network and sharing center> manage wireless networks

Delete the profiles
you will then have to enter the wireless security key for any networks you connect to - so make sure you know the correct password , and not using an incorrect password at all

Well I was uploading some videos on Youtube on my laptop when the wireless connection just went off on its own. It could still detect my home wireless network but when I try to connect to it from the list of available networks it just stops halfway while trying to connect and refreshes the list again. When I tried right-clicking and the connection icon on the taskbar and choose repair, I always end up with "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following could not be completed: Connecting to the wireless network"

I don't think it has anything to do with the settings in the laptop because I get the same thing when I restored my C-drive to how it was 3 months ago using a back-up.

The house computer that uses the local area connection can still connect to the internet but I'm not sure whether any settings were changed here that would affect my laptop. I can't really restore the stuff here too to before my problem coz there's s lot of my dad's stuff are in here.

So is my problem because of something to do with the settings or did something in my laptop got spoilt @[email protected]?

I assume you've already tried rebooting the laptop. Next step would be to shut down all computers; unplug the router; plug in the router; boot computers. If still a problem please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Hi there,
I have just recently bought a Dell Inspiron laptop and am unable to connect to the network I have already set up at home. The desktop connects fine, my old laptop did and my sister's laptop (or anyone else for that matter) is able to connect to the network.
My computer recognises that the network is there and records a stron signal however, when I click to connect it doesn't ask for the password (which I know) and automatically says it is unable to connect.
Which settings do I need to change? I am hesitant to change the home computer settings as mine is the only laptop that has problems connecting.
Thanking you

Why is it that I am able to connect my laptop to my home network, but my cousin is unable to connect his laptop to the same network? He and I have both been unsuccessful in trying to make a connection with his laptop. We were very careful to enter the correct information -- Security Type; Encryption Type; and Security key/passphrase -- so I cannot understand why his laptop won't connect, especially since entering the same info allowed my laptop to connect. Obviously, there is some other reason why we've failed thus far. Could it be that we're missing a vital step in the process? At one point I unplugged my router for 20 seconds and plugged it back in. Obviously, that didn't work.

I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to help. Thank you.

Hi @Sid3296, I have read about your HP 15-ac122tu Notebook and Bluetooth not connecting to your phone. Here is a link that might help.  I would check to make sure Bluetooth is on. It shows you how to do that under Connecting Bluetooth. A device such as computer might need to have the Discovery setting turned on. To turn on Discovery in Windows 8, from the Start screen, type Change Bluetooth to open the Search charm, and then select Change Bluetooth settings from the search results.  Please let me know how this goes. This is a great question other customers may also be wondering about; please click the Accept as Solution if you feel this post has helped you, or could help others. Hey guys i'm having similar troubles here. friends laptop is unable to connect to a network through wifi. it will connect to internet but only through cable hookup. i can locate my network but when i hit connect (type in correct password) it tries for say 1-2 seconds then says "Windows was unable to connect to *my network*" i know its not my router (i have several things that can connect to my network without problems.) only this laptop seems to have a problem. she has a ralink wifi adapter which is said to be notorious for going bad, but i can neither conform or denai that. i'll list what specs i know how to find and hopefully that will help. any help from you all would be great. also if you need me to post some data could you explain how to find it and the like. thanks.

Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1, HP pavilion g6 notebook, AMD A4-3300M APU with radeon hd graphics 1.90 GHz, 4 GB (3.48 GB usuable) RAM, 64-bit operating system.

Network Adapter:
Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter
Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter

I have a laptop from work that I use at home and I have able to access the internet at home using my secured wireless network. The techs at work had to remove all information on the laptop recently and reload it.

Since the laptop information was relaoded I have been unable to access my secured wireless network using the password, but I can access my neighbors wireless unsecured network. My daughter also uses my wireless network and has had no problems accessing the network.

Can you help me?

I have a dell latitude d610 laptop...until last night, I had no problems connecting my laptop to the wireless router...then..I'm not sure what happened, but I can't connect anymore. My daughter has the same kind of laptop and has absolutely no problems with connecting...so, it has to be something with mine. It's like it doesn't know that there is a wireless connection available. I'm not very computer literate, so it most likely is something that I did...just don't know how to correct the problem.

often laptops have a wireless on/off switch with dell i think its FN and one of the F keys 10 i think
- are you sure the wireless is ON
can we see and ipconfig /all and an xirrus screen shot

ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

For the fastest repair option, you could do a repair install.

Repair Install

You do not need to upgrade your OS to fix the issue.

When did this start happening?

Install any hardware or software recently?

Hello jakayw, Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience! I understand the computer is experiencing issues with the Windows Store and Kindle App. These issues are probably caused by the same unfortunate turn of events, but I will do what I can to assist you! Please try the following to resolve the issue: a) In the Start Screen, type ?wsreset? and hit Enter. This deletes any store caches.b) Try to launch the App Store and install an app. If this doesn't work, try these steps next: a) Go into the App Store and go to the Settings Charm.b) Click App Updates, then Sync Licenses button.c) Restart the computer and try installing apps again. These steps should resolve the issue. Either way, please provide your results. Thanks for bringing this issue to the HP Forums. Have a great day!Mario

I have a samsung laptop and 4 days ago the internet access stopped working. I normally use it via wireless and I have tried it hardwired - no luck. I have restored the internet settings. The response I get when trying to connect to google is 'waiting for google.com' and it just hangs.

Please do not get too technical when providing me with a response I don't understand all the jargon.

so ive been trying to get my new dell laptop to connect to my d-link dir-601 router via a arris tm402p/110 modem and i have been having one hell of a hard time. i have connected the d-link router to the modem via an ethernet cable and also the modem is connected to a desktop pc with a usb cable.
the pc works fine with the internet, but when i try to connect my laptop its telling me to setup the router for the first time. so i proceed to do so in the "wireless setting" section of the router page and i click the "add wireless device with wps". Thats when it ask me to enter the pin or use the "push" method to add my laptop to the wireless device but it stay loading on that page forever and the internet icon says "no internet access".

Heya, i've downloaded and tried to play the following online games: Allods,Shaiya,Runes of Magic,Lotro.

Everytime I downloaded each game and tried to connect to any of their servers it would always come up with a connection or client timeout error of some sort.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my internet connection because recently I downloaded and played the beta for SWTOR online on my old crap vista laptop, which is about 5 years old. Apart from very very low fps (due to a terrible video card) my swtor connection was perfect. I also downloaded the swtor beta on my new laptop and after finishing the massive game download it came up with a data error , though I can't remember what it was...perhaps it is also related to my current problem?

My current IP is WIC (New Zealand) and doesn't have ethernet ports on modem.

Laptop specs:
WIndows 7 32-bit Home premium: Service pack 1
Processor: Intel Core i5-2401 CPU 2.30GHz 2.30GHz
Ram: 4GB

Thats the basic information. If you need anything else please let me know!
