Is There a Keyboard Shortcut to enable.......

Q: Is There a Keyboard Shortcut to enable.......

Is There a Keyboard Shortcut to enable going to the next page of a website so I don't have to use the mouse. I don't mean using the right-click forward & back menu.......

Thanks bunches...

Preferred Solution: Is There a Keyboard Shortcut to enable.......

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm using a dual monitor (you can see the configuration on the #1 attached image.)

I'm not always using the second (not main screen) screen and I wonder if there is a keyboard shortcut to disable (set mode as seen at #2 attached image) or re-enable (as seen at #1 attached image) the 2th screen.

If there is not built-in keyboard shortcut but it's possible to create it - I'd like to learn how to do so.

Thanks you very much :-)

p.s. As I try to improve my english .. Could you please tell me if the message was easy to understand or hard? thanks again

Currently I have a desktop shortcut to PuttyCyg (a modified version of PuTTY) which I have configured Ctrl+Alt+C as a keyboard shortcut to launch the program. Trouble is, once there is one instance of the program open, when I enter Ctrl+Alt+C again, instead of opening another instance of the program, it brings the window of the currently open instance to the front. This is strange, because when I actually click on the shortcut multiple times, the default behavior is to open multiple instances of the program. How can I change it so that hitting the keyboard shortcut forces new instances to open? Do I have to resort to things like writing a VBScript?

I recently had my operating system re-installed but the PC guy who did it has messed with the default settings and I don't see the little arrow on my shortcuts.

How do I re-enable?

P.S. I also don't hear the little intro tune you usually get when you log on to the desktop and it's missing when I shut down too. Wouldn't mind that back as well.

Use "TweakUI" to restore the shortcut arrows, that's safer than poking around in the registry and trying to do it manually: Tweak UI for Windows XP

Startup sound can be restored through Control Panel (Classic view)> Sounds & Audio Devices. Then click the "Sounds" tab.

Under "Sound Scheme", if blank, select a default scheme by clicking the drop-down arrow. Now, lower down, scroll down the event list and click "Start Windows".
Below that, in the "Sounds" selector. choose Windows XP Startup.wav
Now click 'OK' to save the changes.

is there a possibility to create shortcut (hotkey or another fast method) to disable and enable device (like in device manager)?
If not for all device, is it possible for built-in cam and/or microphone?
(preferred not by 3rd party aplications)

A:Shortcut to enable & disable device

There's not specifically an easy way without a bit of scripting on your part. I attempted to write you a quick VBScript that would use the WMI_SystemDriver class to enumerate all devices that contained the word "camera" in the description and then stop them.

The problem is, my Lenovo webcam doesn't allow that call; the driver exposes itself to the OS as 'unstoppable' in terms of user service control. I have a suspicion that a lot of webcams may work the same way. To get around this, you need to make a DLL call to tell the OS to disable the hardware device, which cannot be done in VBScript.

I could certainly write you such an applet, but then you'd have to simply trust me rather than being able to see what was inside - unless you have access to a C# compiler and just want the source code to compile yourself.

Another alternative that requires a lot of download time but then would allow you to use a simple DOS command to do the toggle is to grab the Windows 7 DDK from Microsoft. Part of the DDK is a utility called Devcon, which is a command-line version of WIndows device manager. A little bit of DOS wizardry with the FOR /F "usebackq..." command to parse a devcon status statement followed by another devcon enable or disable statement would allow you to toggle the hardware state and would get you where you want to be. But it's a huge download for a single stupid file, unless of course you already had use for the WinDDK.

Hi. I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite Click 2 Pro and at the top, two of the keys increase/decrease the screen brightness (much like two of the keys at the top of a Mac do the same). Well, I discovered that if I press the key to decrease the screen brightness too quickly and bring it down all the way to the lowest brightness and keep clicking, it turns off the keyboard! As in, none of the keyboard keys will work anymore.
The only way I know of to fix it is to restart the keyboard. I'm wondering if there's a way to 1) disable the fact that it does this, and 2) find a way to turn the keyboard back on without restarting the computer, since it is, quite frankly, annoying when I have three word documents and about 10 browser tabs open. I can't figure out how to disable/stop this one key by using the keyboard settings/ toggling the hotkeys/etc.
Honestly, I'm not even sure if this is a Windows 8 issue or Toshiba issue. Has anyone else had this problem?

A:Keyboard shortcut locks up keyboard (Toshiba Satellite)

If under warranty, return this to the store ASAP for replacement/repair. There's not much we can recommend you do, hardware-wise, that you can do and not void the warranty.
I suspect the keyboard may be sticking,,, you can try another USB KB for troubleshooting though. Plug in the USB KB and see if that behavior is duplicated using that KB.

I've googled on how to quickly and easily enable/disable single Windows Firewall rule without having to open the firewall, going into advanced options, and eventually manually finding my rule there.
Best I've found was two commands when searching for 'shortcut':

run, netsh advfirewall firewall set rule name="NameOfFirewallRule" new enable=yes

run, netsh advfirewall firewall set rule name="NameOfFirewallRule" new enable=no

Firstly, I don't know how to use them (how do I create shortcut containing the above lines) or if they work at all.
Then, perhaps there is an easier way to quickly disable/enable single rule in Windows 7 firewall?

I did search the Tutorials section here, but only found how to make shortcut for whole Windows Firewall, which is not what I'm after

A:How to create shortcut for Windows Firewall rule (enable/disable)?

I use a program called Windows Firewall Control, which is not a standalone program, rather it gives the Windows 7 platform an easy to use advanced GUI to control rules and edit them as you see fit. Here is the link : Windows Firewall Control

Bless as I do not even know if this is possible but any help would be apreciated:

I noticed that my PS3 plays games allot better online when my PC's wireless adapter is disabled and it cannot connect to the network.

However my PC is always on and it a task to do this every time I want to play online and then re enable once I'm done playing to resume my PC's downloads.

If I can create a desktop short cut to disable/enable wireless adapter, and link it to a hotkey on my keyboard my life would be almost hassle free.

any form of command line (i think) or .exe or shortcut or anything would help.

Much thanks

If it doesn't say that, drag the shortcut to the desktop.

hey just a little curisoity...is it possible to create a 4 key keyboard shortcut?

the reason...i want to use my keyboard to shutdown my computer and dont accidentaly want to hit it....

BTW i already have a short cut on my desktop(gonna move that somewhere DEEP...
EDIT is there any way to make a two letter one like say i want to use ctrl + W + Z is there any way to do that?

A:4 key keyboard shortcut

There's a 3 key shortcut already. Note: do not keep each key pressed when you press the next one. Press one, release it..press the next, release it..etc..Windows Logo Key > U > UIf you notice when you hit the Windows Logo Key (and the Start Menu comes up), the u in "Turn off computer" is underlined. Pressing U does the action that has U underlined (like hitting Alt + some letter in any application). Hit U again, the u in "Turn off" is also underlined, so it performs that action (shutdown). Pressing R here instead of U would do a Restart.Note: The letters you have to hit to do this vary by version of Windows....the way you access "Power Button Actions" for Vista and Windows 7 are slightly different.

I'd like to assign a keystroke to one of my mouse buttons that will launch Windows Explorer.

The Windows key + E launches computer in Windows Explorer which would be fine. However, Logitech SetPoint Settings wont let me map the Windows key.

Another option was to create a shortcut of "computer" on the desktop and then right click>properties and make a custom keystroke assignment for that shortcut. Problem with that is, the shortcut has to be actually on the desktop for it to work. I don't want that either.

So, any suggestions would be awesome. I know I'm probably missing something simple. Thanks in advance.

Click this imgur image above to understand what I am talking about

I made some shortcuts to things like web sites and files.

I hit the window key and microsoft onenote and files come up. I really want files to show up on top because that is where my cursor (not the right word?) starts. This forces me to have to scroll down to files and click on the right shortcut which almost defeats the purpose of having a shortcut that can be accessed rapidly with a shortcut

Let's say my shortcut is "electronics youtube channel"
Unfortunatley if the words electronics youtube channel are somewhere in oneote, onenote will appear on top like in the picture. Now I must scroll down or move my cursor to Files whereas if Files was on top, then the name of the shortcut "electronics youtube channel" woudl have been on the top, I could have just pushed enter

If electronics youtube channel words don't show up in onenote, there is no Microsoft Onenote in the picture so Files appears first on top and the shortcut is usually the first thing that I am on. Then I can simply push the enter button and go to the shortcut.

Basically here is the summary of the entire post:
- I want to just go to a website or a document without having to move my mouse or click on things on the desktop. I want to hit the windows button, type the name of the shortcut to that website or document, have it appear on the top of the start menu because I remember what I called the shorcut and I ... Is there any way in Windows 7 that I could set up a keyboard shortcut that would paste a short predefined text field at the point of the cursor?

A:How can I set up a keyboard shortcut.

Welcome LeeInMo. It's actually quite easy with AutoHotkey. You can write a simple script to paste a line of text when you press a key combo, such as Ctrl+D, etc. (just don't use keys that windows uses like Ctrl+c, tec. )

AutoHotkey Tutorial: Macro and Hotkey Creation

for instance, you can use a letter not used by windows that starts your sentence

Send I want to put this text here (Just an example, the bold area would be the text string you desire)

Send Leave the door open when you leave (Just an example, the bold area would be the text string you desire)

You can string several together if you have several lines of text you use often, you just have to remember what the hotkey combo is

Send Install the font
Send Life is a beach
Send Ship to customer
Send Modify as needed
Send Golfballs have dimples
Send Request more information
Send Always talk to your manager first
Send Useless information
Send Technicians must be present
Send Diagnose problems
Send Night time is dark
Send Black is slimming
Send Quietly slink away
Send Knead the dough
Send Just about anything
You get the idea The return creates a return for a space.

I want a keyboard shortcut to a screensaver. I made a shortcut to the screensaver and saved it to my desktop. I then created a keyboard shortcut to this shortcut as I found these directions online. The issue is that this only works for me if the shortcut is left on my desktop, and I do not want it there. If I create it anywhere else or move it then it will not function unless it is double clicked and the keyboard shortcut part of it will not work. Any ideas? It would make more sense to me if you could create a keyboard shortcut to the original screensaver file but that is apparently not an option. I do not want to use windows key-L.

A:keyboard shortcut issue

Windows key-L is the logical choice, but as you don't want to use that let's check your methodology. Try checking out the order that you do these things (and how and from where you are creating the shortcuts). If you create the keyboard shortcut while the shortcut is on the destop, then when you move that file, they keyboard shortcut will no longer work because it does not change when you move the file. How do you expect the shortcut to work if not by double-clicking it wherever it is located (except perhaps quick launch or if you've programmed the mouse for single click activation)? And if it isn't going to be on the desktop and you have a keyboard shortcut for it, why would you ever need or want to use the shortcut icon itself?

Try the following in the order listed and see if that works any better for you (compliments of Ronnie Vernon, MVP):

All of the screen savers are located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. They have the .scr file extension. Go there in Windows Explorer and double click any of these files to start that screen saver and see which one you want to use. (So it is possible using the original file.)

When you find it, right click that file and save as a shortcut to the desktop. You can then place this shortcut wherever you wish, and then once it is where you want to save it, right click the shortcut and give it a unique keyboard shortcut (you can probably even use the one you originally selected as long as you delete the original keyboard shortcut and t... I have started using keyboard shortcuts (when I can remember them) while I do specific things in 8.1. My question is this "Is there a shortcut that will go to the next page within a web page?" To clarify what I mean let's say I am searching within an auction site and it gives me multiple pages of results. I have to scroll all the way to the bottom and hit the ">" to get to the next page of results. This same thing applies when I do a web search and have to scroll to the bottom.

I have found ways to go forward in specific web pages but I want a shortcut key that will simulate hitting the ">" button in all pages. This may be way too much to ask for. I get really tired of having to scroll all the way to the bottom each time.
