I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everybody, I purchased a some time ago a Thinkpad T460s laptop, which had a fried motherboard. "No problem" I thought and sent the machine to a non-Lenovo-authorized repair service. Few days ago I got the laptop back with a new working motherboard. However, not all was such smooth sailing. I installed Windows 8.1 to the laptop and noticed these issues: The BIOS would give me error codes 2200 and 2201, regarding a lack of serial number, machine type and UUIDSecure Boot doesn't activate Windows I think I can resolve the activation issue by just getting a new key and injecting it to the BIOS. However, I'd like to remove the BIOS errors as well. Is there anything I can do to fix these issues on my own? The machine doesn't have any warranty left, so I guess that bringing the machine to a Lenovo-approved service facility would cost a ton of money (which I don't currrently have).  I have tried running AMIDEWIN utility (only got an SMBIOS error from it), the UEFI version of it threw me an incompatibility error If needed, I can pay a little to the chap who can help me out Cheers-S

I'm here to request Lenovo to update the bios to enable the M.2 2242 42mm for SSDs? This is really bad since our office PCs have been upgraded from T450s but it seems we are downgrading as we cannot use our originally bought M.2 2242 for the old T450s. Can you please update the bios to enable this the 2242 for SSDs? We need more diskspace to do some graphics and photo make ups on the road. The single 2280 is not enough since when we got the machines, only 512GB was available.

I don't believe that the PCI-e circuitry is still present for the WWAN card slot on the T460s so it's not as simple as a BIOS change to enable the previous functionality which was present in the T450s. There is a 1TB option for the T460s which is the PM961 SSD which could be installed in place of your 512gb SSD, but that may not be an option in your case.

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me, I want to upgrade the BIOS of the L560 from 1.18 to 1.43. Each time I try this, it boots into the bios system, I select bios update and follow the steps until the screen says that it will reboot, but it never does. (see screenshot) Frozen at this screenAfter hours of waiting, trying to long press (20 sec) the power button shuts down the computer. Afterwards the computer boots but displays "Secure Flash Authentication failed!"After forced rebootAfter that I have to long press (20 sec) the power button again to restart the computer and it boots back into the 1.18 (I have also tried to update to version 1.22 or 1.17 (downgrade), with the same results)And also tried to "upgrade" to the same version 1.18 as well, which doesn't work because the system says that there is no new version. Do you have any tips how to upgrade the BIOS on the L560? Kind RegardsOlaf

I have searched all forums including this one and have been unable to find a resolution to my issue.I have had my laptop (Thinkpad T460s) for just over a year now and use it for work daily. I was using it with no issue at lunch, but when I opened the lid around 3 hours later - the screen was black and the laptop seemed to be stuck in sleep mode. I tried a hard reset and now I can not even get the Lenovo post menu to show.If I press the power button, the keyboard momentarily turns on the backlighting and the power button stays illuminated, after about a minute the power button turns off. This entire time the laptop screen is completely black, I don't see the Lenovo post menu and therefore have no acces to the BIOS or OS.I have tried using the hardware reset button on the bottom of the laptop, removing the 2 discreet batteries, removing the CMOS battery, removing all batteries and resetting the RAM. None of this has gotten me any headway on resolving this issue. I am going to try contacting technical support but am hoping someone may help me find a quick and simple resolution to this issue.

You cannot do it reliably.  If you can get something flat under it, you can pop it off, but often one of the little plastic pieces breaks off so you cannot put it back.

Hey folks,

New user here. Just updated my laptop, a Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon, to 1.26/1.19 bioses, from the Lenovo website. After the BIOS updated, my PC rebooted and immediately BSODed with 0x0000009C (0x0000000000000006, 0xFFFFF880009EEB30, 0x00000000FE000000, 0x0000000000801136).

I am unable to do anything- system repair, safe mode, etc. I also do not have a CD drive on this machine so no OEM repair either! I am typing this from my phone.. Also got a new job where I need this baby and majorly worried now. If anyone can please help, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks in advance.

Has anyone experience fan running at full speed after updating BIOS to newest version 1.30? According to changelog a fan issues should be fixed but from my experience they got worse - much worse. Previously full-speed-fan issue was happening once a month, now after each suspend it spins at full speed. Also suspending/resuming doesn't help like it used to. This is a bit clowny. Using loudy laptop is not very convinient. I'm using Linux btw, if that makes any difference. I've seen reports of similar problem on X270 too (on appropriate  sub-forum).

After upgrading the BIOS, I am having an issue with my battery. I finally got around to troubleshooting an outstanding issue with my RAM (It was maxing out at 10 of my 20gb of RAM), I found that updating my BIOS resolved the issue. I purchased the laptop in May 2016, and this was the first time I had updated my BIOS. I used Lenovo Solution Center / Vantage to run the updates. I updated my BIOS to N1CET68W (6/20/18). While troubleshooting I ran battery report, and I don't think it is a coincidence that the date I updated the BIOS on is also the date at which one of my batteries stopped working - Attached with a line drawn for when I updated the BIOS. My battery now caps out at 62%. Battery 1: 68% and charging. Battery 2: 0%. Battery 2 will not charge any more. Battery 1: 00HW022, Sanyo. Design Capacity: 23510 mWh, full charge capacity: 17840mWh (Acceptable degradation for 2 year old battery)Battery 2: 01AV406, SMP. Design Capacity: 26060 mWh, full charge capacity: 1770mWh (Significant drop-off once BIOS updated). I have already performed laptop surgery and made sure both batteries are connected. Unplugged both of them, and hard reset my laptop (holding power button for ~2 minutes with batteries out). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, and then updating them. Windows 10 x64.

So my wife's laptop got wet (water bottle leaked in her laptop bag) and I tried to dry it out as best possible, but after a few days of airing it out it would not turn on. Through online searching I discovered the remove batteries and ram, hold power button for 60 seconds, put ram back and plug in power cable etc and it worked! But now it seems if we shutdown the laptop and let it sit for an unknown amount of hours it will not turn on again and I have to repeat the above process again but it again will startup. I had her leave it in sleep mode while she wasn't using it which seemed to work but it appears that it may have shutoff on its own after being asleep for an extended period of time (not 100% sure if she accidentally shut it down on or put it into sleep mode.) Does anyone happen to know if there is something I can do beyond the above steps to possibly bring it back to normal? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've been trying to contact Taiwan Lenovo's warranty registration team that sometime in the second week of June, someone suddenly placed a "Loaner Machine" warranty upgrade on my Thinkpad T460s (Upgrade type P2L) without my authorization. The description of the P2L upgrade is"This product is entitled to loaner machine support for up to 1 year in which actual support duration follows machine's base warranty. Loaner machine is available for customer with repair service exceed 3 business days turnaround time. This service is limited to in-warranty service claim and exclude out of warranty, customer induced damage or machine DOA. Any damage to the loaner machine will be charged to the customer." The laptop was purchased in March, so I was not happy about this mysterious upgrade that suddenly appears 2.5 months later. In fact, I can isolate its sudden appearance to be between 6/3 to 6/9.Additionally, this upgrade has been preventing my ability to purchase a warranty extension on Taiwan Lenovo's website.I contacted Lenovo Taiwan about this, and they said that this is a special favor for all Lenovo Taiwan customers starting from the beginning of the year. However, a friend of mine has a Thinkpad purchased from Lenovo Taiwan in February, and it doesn't have this mysterious upgrade that appears out of no where. In any case, Taiwan Lenovo refuses to remove this upgrade, saying that I could call them if I want to purchase warranty extensions. Problem:After updating to the latest BIOS firmware (1.26), I found that my T460s would hang at the red Lenovo splash screen when starting up whilst placed in my ThinkPad Pro 90W Dock (the dock was on the latest firmware (2.33)).  The spinning circle of dots would never appear. If I took the laptop off the dock and started it, there was no problem. If I removed the single USB cable from the back of the dock (which fed the USB ports on my Dell monitor), there was no problem. If the laptop was just asleep (rather than completely off), and I woke it up on the dock, there was no problem. The problem only arose when the laptop was on the dock, with the USB cable plugged in, being started from a complete shutdown. Notes:I have had this laptop going on a year now using the exact setup with no issueI also have a T440 work laptop that I use on the exact same setup and it has no issues (BIOS version 2.41)Just in case, I completely wiped my hard drive and installed a fresh version of Windows 10 (on the T460s).  The problem persisted.Steps taken to dianose the issue:I rolled back the BIOS, first to v1.22 (which I believe is the earliest version I could role back to). This was challenging.  For those interested, I had to extract the BIOS image from the Lenovo ISO using ISOBuster, then create a bootable USB to flash the image using Rufus USB tool.  Lenovo didn't make it easy! All the above problems disappeared.I then tried both v1.24 and 1.25 - both of these had the same ...
