Q: X16C April 2018 update (1803) broke color setting in Lenovo Vantage?

Just updated to Win10 ver 1803 aka April 2018 / Spring Creators update. Now the color setting in Lenovo Vantage no longer work. It doesn't change no matter which color profile I choose. Aside from this, night light in Win10 also stopped working. It is not grey out, but no effect regardless on or off. Can anyone that is on 1803 confirm this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

After upgrading Windows 10 to the April 2018 Update (Windows version 1803), Windows Hello is no longer available on my Lenovo X1 Carbon 5th Generation ultrabook, and drivers for the Synaptics WBD (SGX enabled) biometric fingerprint reader show as failing to load in Device Manager.  This is despite registry settings, group policies, and a PIN being set up to enable biometric scanning (the fingerprint scanner worked previously). Is anyone able to assist to enable the Windows Hello fingerprint scanner under Windows 10 version 1803? Thank you.

In this first screenshot of Lenovo Vantage running under Windows 10 (64) on my X1 Yoga (1st generation), please notice where it says that I need to install Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105.  However, in the second screenshot, please notice where the Installation History shows that Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 was successfully installed already. Everytime I boot up and run Lenovo Vantage to check for updates, it tells me that I need Sierra Wireless EM7455 Software - 10 (64), version 7.47.4743.0105 so I let it install it. Everytime I install it, the installation appears to be successful and my computer reboots, but then after rebooting, Lenovo Vantage again tells me that (1) I need it, (2) I already have it. This is crazy.  In the third screenshot (looking at Windows Device Manager) I see the Sierra Wireless EM7455 Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A. The fourth screenshot shows that it is disabled.  I will enable this and then retry to install the updated. I'll report back in a second posting on this thread whehter it works.  (I would leave this posting open and finish it later, but I'm afraid it woud all be lost when I reboot).   

A:ENDLESS LOOP: Lenovo Vantage Tells Me To Update a Driver That Vantage Says Is Already Up to Date.

After enabling the driver in Windows Device Manager, then again trying to update, the update was successful. After another reboot, Lenovo Vantage no longer show that this needs to be updated.  I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the Lenovo Vantage update program ought to be able to see whether a driver is disabled and to tell the user to enable it in order to allow successful of updating of the driver. My 2¢.

Greetings,As Microsoft has been forcing this out on several of our laptops in the field, we're seeing a consistent pattern of this breaking the touchpad. It works periodically but also stops working quite frequently.   Simply re-installing the drivers do not help as the ones in the support section are very old.  I tried the newer drivers for the Y720's (which we have been considering to buy to replace our older Y70/Y700's) to no avail. Does anyone have any tips or tricks?  The Synaptics site does not appear to have any downloads either and reversing the update is not successful on a few laptops which are now basically useless without plugging in an external mouse. Thank you!

Has anyone else run into an issue with the video drivers not working with the P50 after the Windows 10 version 1803, April Update? After the update, I've had issues with Windows 10 perpetually needing to use their Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead of the Quadro M2000M drivers.  I've tried updating the drivers from inside Device Manager:  However, while windows found and installed and updated driver, the same result happened when I rebooted. I've gone to the Nvidia website and found the most recent drivers, dated 3/27/2018:  The video drivers from the Lenovo website are dated 9/4/2017, and I've tried them nonetheless, and they did not resolve this Microsoft Basic Display Driver issue. Does anyone else have any insight on this, or are we now in wait mode for Lenovo to generate a working driver?

X1 Carbon 5th Generation - 20HR series, Windows 10 ProWindows version now 10.0.17134BIOS date 3/2/18 After the automatic Win 10 April 2018 (ver 1803) update, my fingerprint reader stopped working. Had no issues prior. I have tried all suggested fixes, but no luck. - Checked enabled in BIOS - ok - Deleted driver, searched for and added driver in Device Manager - didn't work - Deleted and re-installed fingerpirnt driver from Lenovo support website - didn't work - Ran driver update tool from Lenovo support site (Lenovo service bridge) Synaptics WBDI(SGX enabled) driver status still says - "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" Windows Hello used to work fine - now says "Windows Hello isn't available on this device.

Hi all,today i installed the windows Spring update on my X1Y3. First thing i noticed is that HDR works (horray!). Still being puzzled about the adrertised dolby HDR, while showing 8bit panel only, but nevermind.The problem i got is that the colors defaulted to 'Native' mode and even if i change it to ' Standard' the colors don't budge. Anyone else experiencing this after the update and any solution found? Thanks!

I would like to use the automatical Update-Service from Lenovo. But always when I start to search for new Updates it stopps at 15% and says that there are no new Updates available.I tried to uninstall Vantage and use the old System Update Software... The same there.Also in the logs there are some Errors which are not providing any helpful information.Tried to reinstall "lenovo system interface foundation", "Lenovo vantage", "Lenovo System Update", "Lenovo Service Bridge",.... So maybe there is an easier solution? Using a Lenovo Thinkpad P50 20EN0006GE with Windows 10 64-Bit

Hello,I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W540 which is out of warranty.  While using the Lenovo System Update utility to update the BIOS, the BIOS update failed, and now my W540 will no longer boot.  Is there a way to restore the BIOS without replacing the system board? Is there a place where can I download the BIOS file (not only the upgrade utility)? Thank you!

I purchased this used X250 (Product Number 20CMOOE5US) last week with Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit Edition. I downloaded and installed Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store which is built-in in the Windows 10. The Lenovo System Update utility updated several components but failed with a BIOS update. The current BIOS version listed at the bottom of the Lenovo Vantage window is N10ET21W 0.21. I tried the stand-alone BIOS update version 1.27 downloaded from https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds102288, which also failed in the same way: the error message reads "OEM check failed from BIOS service. The utility process has not completed." I also noticed this weired label in the System Information for the processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5### CPU @ 2.2GHz 2.19GHz. I guess a BIOS update would correct the processor info. But then how do I get BIOS updated? Please advise.

My keyboard backlight doesn't go on and off automatically anymore depending on how light or how dark it is.  I have discovered this happens since i "upgraded" Lenove Settings to Lenove Vantage. I never gave it much thought because it worked always. Now that it is somehow gone i am experiencing how highly inconvenient this is in my work flow.  There isn't even an option anymore in Lenovo Vantage to enable automatic backlight... Why? I have never heard of 'upgrades' that actually demote an important every day function, and add an inconvenient annoyance.   Please tell me i am missing something, otherwise there is no excuse for this horrible 'upgrade'. Hi, I was wondering if anyone have any experience with the Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Graphics Dock and if it works with the X1 Gen6 Carbon?  I did see it's been optimized for the IdeaPad 720S 13-inch 8th Gen Intel processor but would like to know if it works with other models too. It would be a weird limitation to lock it down to only one computer.. Thanks!

The vantage app is suggesting the above noted update and cautions that if Intel Active Management technology, Intel Small Business Technology, or Intel Standard Manageability are being used they should be unprovisioned.  I actually cannot recall if I fed these beasts or not. ie I do not know how to determine whether these worthy technologies/programs are being used! The provided link to the unprovisioning tool is not helpfull.  I am fully aware that I understand enough about the workings of a PC to get in huge trouble. Any suggestions as to how to determine whether I need to unprovision. (an actually frightening word) or whether I need this update?

Hello, I am trying to update toe Windows version 1803, and have encountered inumerable errors, no matter what I seem to do. Speaking with a Microsoft tech. via the live chat, he said that Lenovo has not released the drivers necessary to run version 1803, there I continue to get errors. I feel this is not the case, because I am pretty sure others have updated to 1803 that also have the Yoga 720. Any advice? Thank you.

Just been informed of new April updates. I ignored the one that is about Win 10 (664), and chose to down load the April Security one and the Malicious software tool one. The software tool one worked but I can't get the April Security one. I have rebooted and tried again and it will not download. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks,

Just used Thinkvantage Update and Drivers tool to install the update referenced above. When I restarted after installation, Windows gave an error message (not a "blue-screen" stop) that the USERINFO.DLL file could no longer be found.  This message appeared twice during each startup.I have therefore restored my system to its last backup state -- from about two weeks ago -- and the message from the operating system no longer appears.For the present, I have disabled/hidden this update (even though it is listed as "critical"). If someone at Lenovo could respond to this message, I would like to know how to install this "critical" update without disrupting my (Win 7 64-bit) operating system. Thanks.

Hi,I have an issue with my Lenovo Yoga500 laptop. Until evening of 29.07 it was working fine... turned off the computer at the evening. But when I turned on the computer on morning 31.07 - its keyboard, nor its track pad was working anymore. I was able to log into the computer and check if anything was updated on 29.07 and the only thing which has actually changed between morning 29.07 and morning of 31.07 was Lenovo Settings application which was automatically downloaded and isntalled via Windows update - its current version is 3.169.0.0. The keyboard seems to be in some kind of a hanged state currently - no keys are working on it. The Windows system periodically displays an information "Do You want to turn into tablet mode?" despite the fact that the computer is in its normal opened position. I can turn on and off the keyboard highlight via the Lenovo settings.. but it does not help with non working keys. The last windows update was installed on 12.07 and laptop was working fine until auto-update of the Lenovo Settings. How can I fix this issue?

I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created

Hey all ... here is a screenshot of the current state of affairs: Note: this is the Win 10 Pro 64-bit OS, Version 1803 ... Windows Update is ' ... up to date'. I have tried various Lenovo Vantage Critical / Recommended / Optional update selections (in their respective groups and / or alone) and re-booted every time following failed system updates ... I cannot seem to break whatever log jam is occurring here. I thought perhaps trying the IME 11.6 Firmware - 10 [64] - V.11.8.55.3510 update alone, or, the ThinkPad BIOS Update - 10 [64] - V.2.26.1.18 update alone (they are both 'Reboot Required' updates) might get me past this issue, however, so far, no joy.  There is a 'Fully charged (100%)' battery installed in the system. Thanks for any insights offered, FFF P.S.  I would also be interested to find a Lenovo drivers list of older Synaptics Pointing Device (ThinkPad UltraNav / Touchpad) drivers for my P70 machine ... does such a historical driver resource exist?  The reason being, the more recent touchpad drivers are unsuitable for me ... too sensitive / 'sticky' (adjustment of various touchpad settings doesn't cure the usability issues) ... I much preferred the behaviours of the earlier drivers but can now only Roll Back to Driver Version: 19.3.4.202 (16-Jan-18) ... I'd much rather use the July 2017 driver version, whatever the version number was (possibly 19.3.4.112).

It works when you reset the Windows but after Windows Update the ability to use custom color settings is gone. I would like to see some fix for this also as I would like to try the DCI-P3 color space.

Hi,  I have an X1 yoga gen 2 since a bit more than a year, I like this laptop but to be honest there are a few annoying quirks. Pen not working properly since day one, keys marking the screen, disappointing battery, but that not why I am posting today, since the last 6 months, when then pushed the vantage software the battery threshold setting are not really saved, it works for a day or two and then revert back to off, charging the battery to 100%. I read it happen for other people after reaching 0% battery but that is never my case as I rarely go under 20%  Any help would be appreciated. I am now out of warranty, so I would like to keep the battery healthy?

Hello.
I am using a Canon i9100 printer. Just reinstalled printer in a new Thinkpad laptop with updated drivers from Canon website. This printer worked great (color representation) in my old thinkpad. When I print in standard print quality mode, and set to plain paper the print colors are very good. When I print in High quality mode, and set to glossy or photo paper the color is way off. I checked driver color management and it is set to the same setting in both laptops. I haven't played with the "color profile". Any suggestions, I really would like to get a good glossy print.

so are you saying it worked ok on the old thinkpad with both types of paper, and now on the new one the photo paper is "off".

Are you using the MFG Paper and Ink? Best bet is to probably email via their online support...if the issue is between the new/old laptop XP > Vista...then it would probably have something to do with the driver (Canon) wrote for Vista. They might be able to provide the proper tweaks.
