I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Everyone:

So I want to set my Yoga 2 Pro QHD+ (3200x1800) screen to 2560x1440 and am having some issues. windows will let me use for 16:9 3200x1800, 2048x1152, and 1080p. Trying to set a custom resolution in intel control panel gives me an exceeded bandwidth message with the HD 4400. I am using drivers 15.36.19.4170 and I have researched the issue but they always seem to point to using the hdmi out for a dual-link dvi display. One person on superuser had a similar question but I don't think it had a solution that worked I could follow. Can't create custom resolution using intel custom mode app in windows 8.1 - Super User

So does anyone know of a regedit to make this work or if my display can not support this resolution since the way the pixels are laid out or something. I think 3200 is to much for this gpu to handle well but love the real estate, and 2560x1440 is I think the sweet spot for 13 inch displays atm. My desktop res is also this resolution so I feel right at home.

Thanks again
Malcolm

My Thinkpad Yoga 15 has a problem, which may or may not be related to the BIOS update recently performed. When booting, the bootup screen only appears on an external monitor via the HDMI output. When performing the hardware tests in the BIOS, tests are done on the HDMI-connected display, the internal display does not seem to be recognized. I verified this using both Linux and Windows. It does not seem to be a hardware failure; I have been able to get the display on the internal LCD a few times, by powering down the laptop, holding the power button for about 20 seconds, then powering back on while pressing F1. The laptop will then function for a while, but loses its display after coming out of sleep. Needless to say, this is unworkable. Does anyone have any tips on how this could be fixed in a more permanent fashion or any indication to cause? BIOS does not allow me to turn off NVIDIA, or its opposite, to enable it exclusively. I also tried different drivers, from both Lenovo as well as NVIDIA and Intel, but to no avail. Any pointers appreciated.

One time I was recording a video of myself for an interview and the sound of the video was so low when i was listening to it that I barely heard myself even with 100% sound volume. Did somebody have the same problem?

While doing some minor unrelated repair on my Yoga 900 I noticed a few extra ports on the motherboard. On of them (JP7) has a connector soldered in (looks like those for cooling fans, five pins) but nothing connected to it and two others (JP10, JP15) without anything. I'm curious whether I can connect anything to them, who knows where could I find some specifications for the motherboard? Maybe some people working at Lenovo can shed some light on this? I'd really prefer to have some information before I start poking around with a multimeter or something. Thanks.  Photo of the ports (sorry I couldn't figure out )how to embed the image). (I know that anything like this voids your warranty. Besides, it's possible to destroy your motherboard and other expensive parts by doing any unauthorized alterations or repairs. Please do not consider anything in this topic as an advice of any kind, you're doing everything on your own risk.)

Hi,I'm not sure about your specific model, but I have a 500-14ISK which also has extra jumpers and unsoldered pins. Mine is probably because I have the device SKU without the dGPU chip, but my board still has all the spaces marked to accomodate this in the SKUs that have the dedicated nVidia card. Maybe yoursituation is similar?

This is not the first time this has happened, where having opened the laptop to tablet mode, a cable appears to have come loose. This means that the laptop no longer recognises that the laptop is back to laptop mode, so it doesn't reactivate the keyboard. Lenovo last time fixed this saying it was a fault with the assembly, but it has happened again, this time out of the 12 month warranty, and 3 months since it last happened. I really expected better quality of manufacture and the repair seems to have been very poor. This is my work laptop and the only computer I got, and any time spent without it is crippling to my work. I am currently using an external keyboard, which means working on the move is very inconvenient. I have a YOGA 51014ISK Is there a way for me to ask Lenovo to fix their repair mistake? I seem unable to find a proper way to contact/complain regarding this. I am not happy that I have to pay for repairs again for the exact same issue so quickly after the last "fix".  Otherwise, is there a repair guide I can follow to fix this myself? I didn't see one, and I'll need to reconnect the keyboard wire inside. Thanks for your time.

Your description sounds more like an operating system problem, not recognizing a sensor.  Obviously, I cannot see the machine so I cannot be sure.

Hello SMAGThanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal If you`re able to, try to download the Video and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.
See if this will make any difference.

So since I have a dedicated graphics card am I able to go up to go up another display? If you need more information let me know. Thanks!

About 48 hours ago, I spilled coffee (w/ cream and sugar) on my keyboard while the power was on. I immediately turned off the laptop, wiped it dow with napkins, and turned to laptop upside down to enable draining. This model laptop has an internal battery for those unfamiliar, so I unfortunately could not remove that.  I left the laptop in a position for where air could flow through it (aided be a fan), and left it in such a way for ~40 hours.  This morning, I finally gained access to laptop tools, so that I could disassemble the the laptop and clean what I could with 91% isopropyl alcohol (not the ideal 99% I see recommended, but I don't think this is a major issue). There was residue visible on the metal beneath the keyboard, as well as a small amount on the battery. All of which was cleaned off with cotton ear swabs dipped in a bit of that rubbing alcohol. I reassembled the laptop, gave it a couple hours to let the small amount of rubbing alcohol to dry off, and tried booting up. Fans spin loudly for ~30 seconds, screen remains blank, no beeps or whatever emit from the laptop, and the power light remains on w/out blinking. The fans and laptop itself turned off after that 30 second period. I then tried hitting the "Novo Button" or "One Key Rescue", and this resulted in a blue menu popping up allowing me to start laptop in one of 4 modes. I tried clicking up or down to scroll through options, however those keys didn't work. Clicked "Enter" ... Read more

My internal display just stopped working for no reason with Windows 10. The external monitor still works fine though.I checked the Device manager, the internal display had disappeared from the Monitors section, only my external monitor was listed there. It had happened twice. I brought the display back the 1st time after I uninstall the monitor driver and re-installed the latest driver from Lenovo website, but this time it's already with the latest driver and the same trick did not work.Luckily I still have a clone image of the system with Windows 8.1. Once I switched back to Windows 8.1 the internal display worked fine so I think it has to be a driver issue. The display adpater is Intel HD 4600. The internal monitor is the original HD display that came with the laptop. Please help.

I have a Toshiba satellite a500.

The display stopped working about a week ago, and had not shown any previous signs of failing before then. I simply shut it down, and the next time it turned it on the screen had no display.

It can't detect it's LCD screen in any display options, and all brightness options have disappeared, as if it doesn't exist at all. There's no display on the screen, but other than that it still runs normally. For now, the laptop is only detecting the external monitor I have connected, which it designates as the primary display, rather than a secondary one.

However, I'm positive that it's not a hardware failure (for a weird reason I won't go into..), any advice on how to fix this, assuming that the problem is that the laptop isn't detecting the internal display? ( and not that it's a loose cable or a faulty screen..)

Thanks.

Hey guys, so i'm running B10074 on my laptop , and I connected my external display to it as well as my external keyboard and mouse at my desk so I could sit there and do the setup etc without moving all of that out of the way. I had the laptop lid shut and off to the side while I was doing this. Then, I shut the laptop down, unplugged all the external peripherals, and turned it on again. It went through the windows boot sequence with the spinning circles, then black screen. After 20 minutes of frustration, I realised that the laptop would show a login prompt only when I plug in the external monitor BEFORE i start it, and only if the laptop is closed while it is booting (when the lid is closed during boot, the Dell logo and spinning circles come up on the external display)

I further figured out that in Control Panel, it only displays the external display, its like the computer doesn't even recognise the internal display anymore. I dont know why that would be since when I first booted it up and installed drivers, I was using the internal display and everything was working fine.
Any help appreciated as well as pointers on not running into this again

Hi community, we are using several Thinkpads for years mostly without issues. But for a while now we have to experience issues with our T540p's in combination with pro and ultimate docks. And lately we also run into the same issue with a T570.Here our configuration, there are two external displays connected to the docking and one of them is the primary screen. And this is the issue: When we undock the T540p, the internal display should switch to be the primary and only display, but it doesn't. It seems to be that the T540p is still thinking to have external displays connected. The internal display is all black but I can move the mouse pointer from the right into the screen and can also move it out of the screen by pulling it downwards. All windows are opened on the virtual screen, which means I cannot see any configuration windows to change display behavior. Pressing Fn+F7 and up or down arrow blind does not change anything. It does not matter if I undock the T540p while it is running, or if I shutdown the system before undocking. When this error occurs it also does not matter if I connect an external display to the T540p directly, I still cannot see anything. To set the internal display to be the main display before undocking does not change the behavior anyway. If I put the T540p into the docking again, mostly everything is fine. The two external displays are running as before. If it was a desktop PC that would be fine but it is a notebook and we need to carry it with us an... Read more

Hi, My Thinkpad Twist does not display anything when turned on except on external monitors. The Device manager shows a greyed out internal display icon, says it is not connected. 1. Could this be the power connect ribbon cable p/n DC002C003W00 have a fractured wire(s)? I have tested for open circuit between PWR1 and PWR2 connectors and there are 4 sequential pins which are open circuit. Is this normal? 2. The touch screen works 3. There appears to be absolutely no LED backlighting working 4. Is there a possible fix for this and if so is it the power cables or some physical problem with the ribbon cables OR is it definitely a new display that is needed using existing cables? Thanks in advance Andrew

A:Thinkpad Twist s230U no internal display, works on...

The last 4 pins on the connector are unused I have determined so it is not the power ribbon cable connector. I found two wires fractured in the LCD ribbon cable right at the point where it feeds through the twist mount. I expect this could be a common problem after use. After repairing these two wires it did not fix the screen problem. I have ordered a replacement LDVS ribbon cable and will report back once I have replaced that.

I have 3 4K Monitors connected to a TB-16 docking station.  One monitor blinks erratically and has been an issue since my first purchase in May of this year.  I am on my 3rd replacement laptop and since it arrived 6 weeks ago, it has the same issue and DELL PREMIUM support says they are working on it but I have not heard back from them for now 6 weeks.
I've seen many posts on this similar issue.  Is this just a defect that cannot be resolved.  If so, issue a refund and this will be returned.
And Yes, I've updated every driver in the order that was recommended by the DELL technician and they also did the same.  It has gotten more erratic and ridiculous that I have to pay this much money for a laptop that is unstable.  Help me escalate this to Mr. Dell and get this working or refund me.

I have a 9360 with the 3200x1800 touch screen and 16 GB of RAM.
When I connect an external 4K monitor and also use the internal laptop monitor, the external monitor flickers on and off every few seconds whenever the laptop is doing something graphically intensive (just zooming in and out of google maps is sufficient to trigger it, but lots of other things can too).
So far, I have tried two different 4K monitors, two different 9360 laptops, two different docks, connected directly to the laptop w/o the dock, a bunch of cables, and different intel graphics driver versions.  Currently running the Dell driver (21.20.16.4664) but they all have the same problem.
I can avoid the flickering if I disable the internal laptop screen when using the external screen - but that's not exactly optimal -  I'd love to be able to run both simultaneously.  I can also avoid it if I use a lower resolution monitor, but, according to the specifications, this laptop should be able to run 2 4K external monitors at 60 Hz simultaneously, and here it is choking on one + the internal display which isn't even 4K!
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

To my knowledge, it was never damaged; I turned it on one morning and although the machine starts up (the keyboard lights up) the screen remains completely dead. It's not the screen itself as I'm also unable to get any display when connected to a different monitor via HDMI. I checked on the connections myself and also took it into a repair shop, but was told that there was nothing they could do as it seems to be an issue with the motherboard (this was after a pretty quick look-over, though.) I've gone through some of the similar issues posted here in the past, but they all seem to have been solved by replacing the LCD, but they weren't having the same issue connected via HDMI. What are my options here? Is there any possible culprits I'm overlooking? I'd hate to just be down a $600 laptop. I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer! Mel

Since I cant see i have no real way of knowing.Safe mode cant be used i assume for the same reason. The graphic adapter works with external display and the builtin tactile screen works as touch pad.i cant seem to find any drivers for the builtin monitor. Is it the screen, the adpator or the cables ? How do i go about diagnosing this?i opened it up and disconnected screen and battery (as per one link) and revised all other connections. thanksIt appears that there are no authorized service providers here.

A:Yoga 2 Pro Help with Display Diagnostic

Hi PanmEric ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Essentially everything works as expected on an external display.
The way that you have described it seem that the LCD panel/ cable / assembly is having the issue.

It is expected not to see the BIOS and safe mode in the external monitor since it is using advance graphics and the pc relies on the built in display as machine level display . The systemboard is working ok and same goes with the graphic chipset and drivers ( able to show advance graphic features such as external project display) but it is just the built in LCD itself not displaying.

Grab a pen light if there is a shade of display on the black screen to isolate LCD lighting issue.

Since you have already tried reseating the cable, you may need to consider LCD replacement or testing as a fix (I usually try with a spare cable first) . You can get the part number from the parts look up site and here is the hardware manual .

Use this tool for service center location in your region or check locally for repair centers.

Hope this help answer your query.
Update us how it goes best for you.

Regards

Specially if the same black line appears even in the BIOS, you can initially contact Best Buy for options on return with the  store's return policy for a faster return/replacement. If that option is not available then call technical support for in-warranty repair option.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Im hoping someone can tell me what I need to do to make my Yoga 910 connect to a TV or Monitor wirelessly. Do I have to buy anything else for the laptop, a dongle for the screen, some kind of extra software (miracast?), or does the TV screen just need to have wifi? Thanks for the education.

I purchase my Yoga 2 Pro 3 years ago.  Since i first unpacked this lap top I have had a consistent problem with display randomly, will begin flickering and at time going to black.  Once the display begins to flicker and or go to black there is no way to stop it without restarting the computer. I have updated drivers, and returned the coputer for warranty service and the problem continues.  I can not believe I am the only person with this problem.  Any suggestions other then not buying Lenovo?WG
