Internet explorer 11 - Site and custom Level Tabs are greyed out under security Tab.

Q: Internet explorer 11 - Site and custom Level Tabs are greyed out under security Tab.

We have Windows 10 Professional Edition 64 bit and IE11. Once the computer is connected to a Domain Account, the internet Explorer Enables Protected Mode and Site and custom Level Tabs are grayed out under security Tab. We are not able to add the intranet
trusted sites.
We have checked on the Domain Controller Group Policy and no policy has been set for internet explorer.
If we login to a local user, all the above greyed out tabs are enabled and Protected mode is disabled.
I have tried several ways and nothing is successful. Which setting is to be done for enabling this setting while connected to Domain account?

Preferred Solution: Internet explorer 11 - Site and custom Level Tabs are greyed out under security Tab.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am using Internet Explorer 11 from Program Files folder which supposedly launches 64 bit applications. This Internet Explorer 11 settings from Tools Options of Custom Level and Advanced tabs Security features were if selected; Internet Explorer
11 64 bit simply refuses to load websites with host of other truly funny messages like US DOD official website found 'Not Secure' or Microsoft's own msftconnect.com 'This website is not secure' etc., with other websites like default Internet Explorer 11 webpage
doesn't loads fast enough even though all options favours fast loading with Advanced security features; WHY? this ultimately stops after all settings are set to default without single modification in Custom Settings or Advance Security features.
This coupled with Microsoft Edge's unpredictable website loading with frequent Network's internet connection disconnecting to the brink of unusability; nothing; even Microsoft Edge Reset won't resolve these scenarios.
And now Microsoft Edge DEV; with all above said problems and beta version errings uses 1.5 GB of 4G ISP full speed memory to send computer information to Microsoft within half day of 12 hrs. day, rest of day goes with crawling speed of ISP setted 64 Kbps
in short without internet connection; this happening on all days Microsoft Edge DEV use; now a days I use only Internet Explorer 11 64 bit strictly with Default Level & Advance Security features Resetted instead of selecting app... Read more

I hope someone can help me work this out, it's driving me crazy!
I'll try to explain it in as few words as possible!
There is a website we need to access on which we're having trouble getting some of the buttons to display.  In short it works when the internet zone is set to "Medium" but not when it's "Medium-High" (I have added it to trusted sites
but in properties it shows as "Unknown Zone (Mixed)" so seems to use the "Internet Zone" settings.)
I am trying to track down which security setting is causing the issue.  To do this my plan was to make a note of all the settings that differ between Medium and Medium-High.  However if I set it to medium-high and manually change all the settings
to be identical to medium it still doesn't work... yet if I use the "Reset to: Medium" option at the bottom it does work!  This doesn't make any sense to me.
Are there other hidden stetting affected by the "Reset to" option that I can't change manually.
Any help would really be appreciated!  Thanks!

I tried to log into one of my email accounts, and when I did, the inbox page wouldn't load, and after waiting awhile, it said 'Action Cancelled'. Then when I clicked the Inbox button, a box came up that asked 'Allow sub-frames to navigate across different domains?'...I have no idea what that means, so I just clicked on the 'x'. I assume this has something to do with Internet Options, but I haven't changed the custom settings for a few weeks. I've been able to access my mail since then...tonight is the the first time it's happened.

The only thing I can think of that I've done lately that may have changed my computer was delete a file named 'AutoRun:C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Userinit.exe' with Adware Away...I think maybe I shouldn't have deleted that one, but I dunno if it has anything to do with the email problem I'm having.

I just checked my Internet Options, but I don't see 'allow sub-frames to navigate across different domains', only 'Navigate sub-frames across different domains' (I have 'prompt') and 'Access data sources across domains' (I have 'disable').
Is there anything I need to fix or be suspicous about?

A:Internet Options...custom level

Now when I check my email, I don't get the message, 'Allow sub-frames to navigate across different domains?'. I haven't changed any settings since the last time I got the message. Why is that it never asked before, asked two or three times in one night, and never asked again?

As of this morning, when going to many websites, including Microsoft, I get the annoying "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for more options..." yellow bar in Internet Explorer 8.

I haven't done anything special since yesterday, nor installed anything! If I click and accept the download, it downloads automatically to a temp folder but also a Microsoft FrontPage window opens at the same time, with gibberish.

When running IE8 without the Add-ons, I don't have the message. I've narrowed it down to the Adobe Flash Player. I had version so I uninstalled it and installed version Beta 2, the latest. No change!

HERE's an example.

Any of you having this problem today?
By the way, I have emptied IE8's cache.

Tried a System Restore to yesterday.

Ran malware scans.

Checked IE8 settings (they were untouched).

Disabled SpywareBlaster.

I'm puzzled!

Thank you

For an unknown reason, everything is back to normal!!!!!!! I haven't done ANYTHING!

One thing I hadn't thought of. I'm using Google Public DNS. Could they have been experiencing any trouble?

I'm not marking the thread as solved yet, just in case...

A:Solved: To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downl

Well, I'm marking this one solved. Everything seems back to normal.

I fail to see how disabling Flash was fixing it.

Most of the sites I was visiting didn't even have files to download! So, the warning seemed irrelevant.

Would have liked to have a "logical" explanation but I'll settle on blaming it on Google Public DNS...

Apparently, others have been experiencing a similar problem today:

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The problem just suddenly appeared. I'm running a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Win XP Home, Service Pack 3 installed, 1 gb ram and a 40 gb HDD. Had McAffee Internet Security Suite preinstalled but removed it via REVO Uninstaller and have only Windows firewall enabled and NO anti-virus. I did try downloading with Windows firewall disbaled and still no success. I can navigate to a site like Google Chrome download page but then when I click on the download button, the error message appears. Also can't download Microsoft or Windows updates from either site, although, again, I can get through the "checking" phase. I've run Malwarebytes, A-Squared, and IObit 360 and removed about 13 traces of malware ranging from low risk to high risk, defragged and cleaned the reg, all to no avail. I originally had IE7 installed, read about rolling back to IE6 and doing the typical repair sequences, again to no avail. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. It loaded and installed and shows up as IE8 but still had the same problems. Then did a system restore back to before the IE8 install, rolled back to IE6 again... Read more

in Windows 7 IE 11, the Favourites Bar greyed out.

I suspect maybe related to following GPOs that I applied, because it affected all domain users:

1. Set IE Home Page: GPO->User Configuration -> Policies -> Administrative Templates -> WindowsComponents -> Internet Explorer->Disable changing home page settings->Enable

2. Add favourite URL: GPO->User Configuration -> Preferences->Windows Settings->Shortcuts

However, I can't see anything wrong with those 2 GPO. But how come all of sudden favourites bar is disabled?

My Troubleshoot attempts

1. First of all, reinstall IE, reinstall windows or recreate profiles.

They are not feasible options, not for all domain users/computers.

2. On Server. for the above 2 GPO, update, unlink, delete, no effect.

3. On test PC, configured local group policy to override to allow favourite bar, no effect

4. On test PC, registry:  HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MINIE\LinksBandEnabled=1, No Effect

5.  On test PC, reset IE, no effect

Any suggestions ?

I'd like to enable the slider that allows to quickly higher or lower security for the Internet zone in IE7. Unfortunately it seems that acting on the registry value? HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3\Flags or the same value under the HKCU hive does not achieve anything. Can anyone help? Is there some Local Security Policy to act upon maybe?

A:Enabling "security level" slider in IE7 security tab for the Internet zone

Well, if you can edit the registry, then I assume that you have admin rights on that box...

I don't know of anything in the LSP, but if this is a domain member machine, there might very well be a GPO that has removed this. Unfortunately my Win2K3 server VM is broken and am recreating it, so I can't look and see right this second. If you have AD admin rights, you might have a look at the IE Security options there...

Sorry I can't be of more help :(

Hi Jennifer,

When you have Internet Explorer open, on the toolbar there shoud be something that says help. Click on that and on the menu that drops down click on "About Internet Explorer". That will tell you what version of IE you have. Since you had tabs before you must have had IE7 and since you no longer have tabs it sounds like it might have rolled back to IE6

If I had it with me, I'd remove Spyware Doctor and Norton fully
I'd even run the Norton Removal Tool (even after it's supposedly removed)

Then install a Free Antivirus like Avast or Avira

Then run a full scan, and have a chuckle at all the Viruses that Norton (pay for product) had missed, using a free product (that runs better!)

My IE7 keeps being redircted to advertisement tabs. It just started a few days ago. I ran McAffe scans and Microsoft malicious tool removal. No virus or malicious software detected?

Hi foxmontny

Make sure you have your IE7 Pop-Up Blocker turned on. From the IE7 toolbar, click on the down-arrow beside Tools, and select Turn on Pop-Up Blocker. To fine-tune the Blocker settings, select Pop-Up Blocker Settings.

Should that not help, run an online scan to double-check your local scanner (such as TrendMicro's HouseCall, etc), and make sure to scan for rootkits that might be hiding malware from regular scanning. Microsoft/SysInternals "Rootkit Revealer" is fairly good - and it's free --- http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897445.aspx --- do make sure to read the instructions to avoid false positives.

Should you find a malware presence, or should the problem persist, try the 5-Step Security Checklist here in our Tech Support Forum - Security forums --- http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html

Best of luck

a lot of my settings are reverting back shortly after i apply them. its been like this for a couple months me being too lazy to do anything about it and before all this happened my system was working perfectly fine. then one day everything changed. i'm pretty sure its not a virus or a worm but i think something is wrong with my registry.

If I select the D partition, all the advance options are available, but obviously I don't want to install to the D drive.

Several of my regsvr32 attempts failed, not being able to locate entry point DLLRegisterServer. Two of them succeeeded however, being URLMON.DLL and SHELL32.DLL

I would hate to reintall IE, as I hear it is a hassle. I do have chrome and firefox, but I want to use IE.

Have you tried the system file checker?
Press the Windows + R keys and type this in the Run command box

sfc /scannow (Note the space between sfc and /)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem. You will need your O.S. disc.

I am running a Toshiba Equium L40 running Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium. My internet access comes through a Belkin G+ Mimo wireless router at home. I am using Windows Defender, Spyware Blaster & Norton 360 to try and protect my computer.

When I access the internet, I get a new tab opening up with some kind of advert in it. This happens about every 10 minutes, however the intervals between tabs are unpredictable. I have enclosed my extra.txt log as produced by Deckard's System Scanner and a few examples of screenshots of the wepages that open up.

I have also encluded below my main.txt log as produced by DSS. Any help that you can offer will be very greatfully recieved.

I use the following Powershell code to configure the IE Home Pages:

## Set Internet Explorer Home Pages in registry
Write-Verbose "Setting Internet Explorer Home Pages"
$HPKey = "HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\main"
$URL1 = "http://www.williamblair.com"
$URL2 = "http://www.wbremote.com"

Start-Process iexplore.exe
Stop-Process -ProcessName iexplore

Set-ItemProperty -Path $HPKey -Name "Start Page" -Value $URL1
Set-ItemProperty -Path $HPKey -Name "Secondary Start Pages" -Value $URL2
Everything gets set correctly, but when i first start IE, I get extra tabs that open up with strange Chinese characters in them in addition to the home pages I select.
Anyone have any ideas why this happens?

A:Extra Tabs opening in Internet Explorer

how extra tabs are being added.
Do you have in Options General tab  Start with tabs from last session  set?   If so, and if there has been no "last session" yet perhaps there is a bug for that case?   Tip:  toggle that setting anyway.  Toggling
it seems to have some kind of limited repair inherent in that procedure.  (YMMV.)

Good luck

Good Day,
I have a problem with Internet Explorer 11 and (Windows 8.1) where every time that I try to open a new website, click on a link in a website or anything of that sort IE opens up a new tab and sometimes a new window that has ads like "How to become a millionaire and work from home" from adcash.com and things like "Upgrade to Windows 8.1 for free." This makes it nearly impossible to do research for school, online shopping and even posting to this forum. I have tried resetting to factory settings and even running AVG Antivirus software to see if anything pops up but I have had no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much!

lick on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on ONE of the Two Blue Download Now buttons That have a blue arrow beside them and save it to your desktop. Do not click on any links in the top Advert.

See the screenshot where the proper download buttons are highlighted
NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done, you will get a message saying "PENDING" , Ignore that & click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.
Please note: the newer versions of Adwcleaner have a pretty colour display on some versions of windows and slightly different icons. The screenshots are from the older version but are basically the same

I was hoping you could help me with an issue i am having on IE9 on Vista 32 service pack 2.
Recently, and without the change of any setting, when i open a normal link on yahoo search engine, the link opens in a new tab instead of the browser simply redirect me there and this is very annoying. I double checked the tabs settings on internet options , which are
" When a pop-up is encountered: Let IE decide how pop-ups should open" and
"Open links from other programs : The current tab or window"
but it keeps happening. The problem occurs only in yahoo while in google it works normaly (opens links in the the same original tab in the same window).

This wasn't happening a few days ago and i seriously need help with this because its driving me insane!

Thanks for reading, excuse my bad english and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two students, one using XP and the Win98 that claim the windows tabs that should be showing on the taskbar are not. They insist that the tabs are not stacked or grouped. To see what windows are currently open they go through the File menu. They would like to know how to make the tabs show up in their taskbar. One of them does say that they have a single tab in the taskbar always pointing to their ISP? Any ideas?

I have a fairly new, fresh (I have installed several pieces of software already however) PC with Windows 7 Professional (32-bit).
Hardware specs: Core 2 Duo 2.94 GHz, 4GB RAM.

My problem is that when in Internet Explorer, I right-click on a link and choose 'Open in new Tab', it opens the new tab, but never shows a web page - it's just a blank white page, with the word 'connecting...' as the tab name. I actually have almost the same problem when choosing 'Open in new window' - it just never opens a new window though.

I've tried disabling all my Add-Ons, but this doesn't change the behavior. I don't have any 3rd party toolbars that I've installed. I did have the Winamp toolbar, but I already uninstalled that thinking that that was the culprit.

I found the following web page that described my symptoms exactly - http://webtrickz.com/how-to-fix-open...roblem-in-ie8/ , tried to follow the instructions, but got error messages while trying to register some of the dlls. The only 2 that succeeded were urlmon.dll and vbscript.dll. The failed register attempts are in my compiled screenshot attached to this post.

I also tried downloading and running the script found on this site at http://www.techsupportforum.com/1445007-post7.html but got several errors too. I think they were the same errors that can be found in my attached screenshots.

This is really driving me nuts, and was hoping someone could help.
