DELL PRECISION T3620: enable dual display port?

Q: DELL PRECISION T3620: enable dual display port?

Hi, I have a Dell Precision T3620 with only the integrated Intel HD Graphics 530. The motherboard has 2 display ports and an HDMI. I have 2 monitors, both with DVI + VGA inputs. I bought 2 adapters (display port to VGA) but I'm not able to enable both the monitors. The second screen is not correctly identified and remains black. Is it possible to enable both the display ports? I read that Intel HD Graphics 530 has the multiple monitor capability. I've looked for a bios setting too, but I don't see nothing like "enable multiple monitor". Can someone help me? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The BIOS/UEFI  settings for Video - Primary Display - are not working.
My machine, shipped by Dell (not from a reseller) few days ago is equipped with the following components:CPU: Xeon E3-1245v6 with Intel HD 630 graphicsGPU: Nvidia Quadro P2000
The BIOS/UEFI firmware allows setting the Primary Display, in case more than one GPU is available. Within the "Video" section, "Primary Display" subsection the following options are available:- Auto- Intel HD Graphics- NVIDIA HD Graphics
Setting the primary graphics to Intel does not have any effect. Nvidia is still being used for graphics output during the boot process.
Am I correct when assuming a BIOS/UEFI fault here?
Edit: To clarify - Intel HD works properly once the Nvidia card is being removed from the system. I've been also replacing the Nvidia card with a much older (PCIe 2.0) AMD Radeon card. Same result here - only the AMD card is being used, in spite of Intel HD being selected as the primary display.

Here is my situation,
I own a Lattitude E7450, and needed to connected two displays to it. I went ahead and bought the Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0, since it has 2 DVI ports on the back. It shows it is compatible with my laptop.
I set up my dock, connected my laptop, as well as both external monitors. Only one monitor shows a duplicated desktop. When I go into the display settings, I cannot see any existence of another external display being connected.
All of my drivers are up to date, restarted laptop many times. Pretty bummed out.
Anyone have any solution/knowledge to this?

1. The screen goes BLACK while the user is working but the system is still running for one user.
2.  Another user screen goes white while she is working and the system is still running.
Have installed the latest Video drivers from the Dell site and still the problem persist.  Can anyone provide any tech advice to resolve these issues.

Hi all,
I'm not new to the precision range having had several Precision laptops however it was now time to change for a desktop as it never leaves the desk.
I've bought a T3620 and want to do some due dillegence in checking everything is setup correctly before doing a final clean install.  The first question is regarding memory.
The system has 32GB memory (2x16gb).  The board as 4 slots - Dimm 1 to Dimm 4 in order of
Dimm 3, Dimm 1, Dimm 4 and Dimm 2
And finally the two 16GB modules are in Dimm 1 and Dimm 4
Colours are: 3 and 4 are black slots, 1 and 2 are white and so in this case, I have 1 module in a black slot and the other in a white.
My understanding is they should be under the colour pair or is that wrong?
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
So my second query is regarding the SATA ports on the board.
Currently I have a 250gb Samsung SSD and a HGST 1TB 7200rpm drive with no optical.  The two drives are connected via SATA 3 and SATA 4 ports.
SATA 1 and SATA 2 ports are empty.
First question is, is this correct or should the drives be connected via SATA 1 and 2?
My aim is to add a third 512GB SSD essentially wanting:
256: OS boot drive + documents512: Junk drive (downloads/temp etc)1TB: Either remove it or keep it and hold backups of the above + drive image
With the 4th SATA port, most likely a future optical drive such as bluray writer.
So it's just making the config correct for the above - like the memory thread, it's purely knowing what the numbers indicate - ie: logic dictates you start at 1 and finish at 4 but hardware logic I'm sure differs :)

Thanks in advance

It came with a 500 GB SATA drive. After getting all drivers up to date, I used Acronis to clone over to the 256 GB Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD.Shut down, unplugged the 500 GB SATA drive, and booted right up onto the NVMe. No problems at all. Installed Windows updates, various software; all without a glitch. However, later on, I reconnected a SATA drive, which will be used for backups. But whenever a SATA drive is connected, the NVMe drive does not show up in the list of boot devices and the system will only attempt (and fail) to boot off the blank SATA drive.Things I have attempted:Tried all the SATA portsTried different SATA drivesChecked for a firmware update for the NVMe (none)Flashed the BIOS to the current (just released 2 days ago)Actually had Dell come out and replace the motherboard (!)This is starting to feel like a possible BIOS bug or an incompatibility with the Samsung NVMe drive.Has anyone else experienced this problem?IT Guy; San Rafael, CA

A:Samsung 950 Pro NVMe not showing up in BIOS on Precision T3620

I have a T7600 which I believe is an older model, and I want to by a 950 Pro + an addin card to use in one of the PCIe slots (or an Intel PCIe SSD) .. But I'm not sure if it's supprted by that MB. .. Reading a little into the issue, I found out that there are 2 options for the bios, Legacy OR  UEFI, the latter being needed for the NVMe support in boot.. So you might as well check that out..
I'm still not sure though if these SSDs are supported in my case..

I have search for many hours for answers to questions on new Graphics Cards which require 8pin and 6 pin or 8pin and 8pin power connections aside from the motherboard supplied power and what the appropriate method was to connect the GPU cards to the 8 pin pcie power connections. This is complicated by the fact that the Precisions seem to only have 6pin cables installed with the towers regardless of the power supply that is installed.   Yes. Everyone understands hopefully that if you have, for example, a 450 watt power supply ( forget the efficiency aspect of the actual power supply) as I am interested in the mechanics of the  design.
The power supply connects to a PC board, which appears to be called "Power Supply extended card"
Now, looking at the connectors on this extended card, there is a "POWER_VGA1" 8pin connection on this extended card (bottom left black socket).  To this 8pin connector, on my T5600 and seemingly on all the others that have made similar inquiries, we all have a 8pin male connector that fit into the extended card. My 8pin connector has two sets of wires leaving the connector and becoming two 6 pin connectors, one of which 6pin connectors is plugged into my stock Quadro 5000 video card.
OK. So, now most people are wanting to change out the 6pin Quadro card with either an 8pin or 8 pin plus 6pin or 8pin and 8pin graphics card such as a GTX 980TI or GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 or AMDs similar card.

Hello so my laptop (Precision 1350 Workstation) with windows 7 which i bought in September 2016 stopped charging after I used it with my docking station . It worked for a week or two prior to this and then I started getting a notification every time I put the laptop on the docking station that said "ac power adapter not recognized , use adapter of 65 watts or above" but the adapter was 130 watts. Even when the laptop was taken off the docking station and the ac adapter was just plugged into the wall it still won't charge at all. I made sure the bios was updated 1.11.4 and even checked for driver to update and ran the online diagnostics there was no problems but it still won't charge. A tech came out last Wednesday and replaced the motherboard and this fixed the problem for about a day but then when I put it back on the docking station the same problem occurred and it still won't charge. I even tried it on a different docking station but the same make and model as mine and the problem persists. Does anyone know what is wrong? The phone tecnicians and the technicians don't seem to know what to do

Kind of a multi part question here.
I have a Precision 7510 and a TB16 Dock. I have the quadro m2000 graphics card. When I have my dock connected I connect a display port cable from my dock' s display port out to my dell 4k monitor. The max resolution is either FHD at 60 hrz or 3840x2160 at 30hrz. The 30hrz option is not acceptable for me. I end up trying it with a mini display port to the dock with a display port to the monitor adapter cable that came with the monitor. That gives me the full 3840x2160 resolution.
Two questions here.
1 why am I not getting proper output from the full size display port on my dock and is there something that can be done to correct it as I think I should be able to connect another 4k monitor and was thinking about getting another of the dell ones but don't want to unless I know it will work.
2 I see a lot of info on the different revisions of both display port and hdmi. I think the latest display port revision is 1.4 or something and  hdmi is 2.1. What version is my machine able to support? In looking for help online with question 1 I found info that makes me believe it could be related to what version of display port is supported by my machine. That is why I am looking for that info.
Thank you

A:Precision 7720 mini display port disabled

To my knowledge there's no way to disable the Mini DisplayPort output by design, so if it's not working, I don't think it could be a configuration issue.  If you haven't already tried toggling the "Graphics special mode" option, you may get different results by changing that setting, but the output is supposed to work either way, so that would just be some experimentation.  Otherwise, if you've already tried things like changing the cable and/or display (or you've validated that display and cable elsewhere), my guess is that this is a hardware issue that will require a motherboard replacement to resolve.

I have a question. One of my friends has a XP SP3 with Dell Precision M6500 laptop with Dual Monitors....one being the laptop and the other being a Dell standard monitor. Here is our problem. It doesn't matter if we use the nvidia driver settings or windows display settings to extend the desktop, it will seem to work in general but whenever you reboot the computer or do a undocking of the laptop and then redock it, it will sometimes lose the settings that you put into it and "forget" which monitor is which...etc.

You can always correct it again but you would have to keep doing this over and over again. My friend is a standard user in windows XP and when I try logging in as an admin, it seems to work for me but whenever we log in as his standard user, everything is forgotten again whenever he undocks or does a cold boot in most cases.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Wrong drivers or wrong settings?...should we be managing this via the nvidia driver controls or via XP display settings display tab?....bad monitor?....etc....the laptop monitor should always be primary but it will forget that and swap them or lose settings.....again we can fix it everytime manually but we are wondering if it's a driver problem, settings problem or admin-limited user rights problem or something else...please help! Thanks

I recently purchased a T3620, and I tried to replace the original one (NVidia Quadro K2200) with  low end one - NVidia nvs 295. I found I cannot get video output after power on. I put the K2200 back and it works again. I tried other old cards and none work. The cards are confirmed to be working themselves on other machines.

So  the question is: It now seems that T3620 can only use the cards in the configuration list. But why T3620 cannot use other cards fitting the same spec -- PCIE 2.0 x16, no extra power supply?  If I recall the old Dell workstations, they can use all kind of video cards, as long as interface is compatible. Is there white list in the BIOS to prevent other type of video card to start?

As mentioned in the title I have both pieces of hardware.  I also just purchased a third Dell U2414H LCD monitor.  I am trying to connect all 3 via display port.  However it seems that all I can do is 2 monitors?  When I try to daisychain them I got 2 monitors mirroring each other and one through HDMI off the laptop.

Is this a physical limitation of the replicator?  Is there a firmware update somewhere?

A:Dell Latitude E6520 & E-Port Plus 2 - Display port issue

The E6520 comes with Intel HD Graphics 3000.  The specs for that GPU are buried in the specs for the CPU itself, but if you go to ark.intel.com and look up your CPU, then scroll down to the graphics section and verify that it shows Intel HD Graphics 3000, you'll find that that GPU only supports 2 independent displays, which is why you see mirroring.  More recent Intel GPUs do indeed support 3 displays, but no Intel GPUs to my knowledge yet support 4.
If your E6520 has the NVIDIA discrete GPU, I can't find any information on NVIDIA's site about maximum number of supported displays, but based on your experience I would assume it's 2 unless indicated otherwise.

Hi guys.
I have a Precision 5510 work station laptop, where I have struggeled with getting my two 4k monitors running on 4k / 60 Hz. The HDMI port does only support 4k / 30 Hz, which is unbearable.
I now have a Plugable thunderbolt 3 hub, which gives me one DP port so I can run 4k / 60 Hz.

Do any of you have any tips on which Thunderbolt 3 hub that can pull off 2 x 4k / 60 Hz monitors?
My colleague is looking on the 5520 laptop, but if it can run what we mean is the future standard (2x4k 60Hz monitors), we might go for another brand.
I would prefer a hub, so we only need to unplug the carger and TB3 cable.
I have found this adapter, which may be plugged in the TB3 port of a TB3 hub, but that will be pretty messy.

Any other tips?

Need Help Getting Machine to Boot to Windows XP Pro Normally
Currently running 2GB (pair of 1GB) in slots 1 & 2.  This is an upgrade from the last time the machine ran properly when one of the two 512mb, original Memory Modules failed and was sending the 1 - 3 – 2 beep code
When the new memory was installed after the Beep code.  The Beep code went away but the machine would not boot into XP and stopped with a BSOD 7B error.   Some of the suggested trouble shooting was to run Chkdsk.   I was not able to do this from the 670 tower so I loaded the drive into a dell 320 Optiplex  running XP.  I was able to run chkdsk with the /R function to fix and also Fixmbr or fixboot from a Windows XP Pro disc in the 320.  I was then able to boot from this Hard drive on the 320 Optiplex.
When I put the Drive back into the 670 I started getting the BSOD 7b error again so I disabled the Raid Controller and got as far as the 7E error.
I will really show my lack of understanding here
I am now wondering if it was a mistake to disable the Raid (could the drive still be partitioned in a way that there is insufficient storage to boot? Is there a way to re-configure the drive in Raid and restore the missing or corrupt boot sector that I think the 7B error suggest?
BSOD 7E error suggest confirming adequate HD Space.  This machine has a 80GB  western digital hard drive and had about 39 gb in use which has since been reduced to 36 gb. ... Read more

Anybody know if TK025 - "designed" for PWS T7400 will work in PWS 690 ?
Looking at the photos - TK025 for PWS T7400 and XH821 for PWS 690 - they are identical ...
And why PWS T7400 would need it - if there are already two PCI-e 16x slots on the motherboard ?

A:TK025 Dual Graphics Riser for T7400 in Dell Precision 690 ?

The reason the 690 needs the riser is because the 690 MOBO does not have the integrated Nvidia SLI chip necessary to run 2 cards in an SLI configuration.  I assume this was also omitted in the T7400, thus requiring the riser to run SLI.  As for being compatible, I don't know for sure, but they might be.  The T7400 supports PCIe 16x Gen 2 video cards, and I believe the precision 690 is not.  When PCIe 2.0 was introduced it retained backwards compatibility with most earlier PCIe 16x motherboards, but this is a dell proprietary design, so they may have made the decision not to maintain backwards compatibility.  That, or, as with all of their business class machines that undergo are highly engineered and undergo rigorous testing prior to release, they may simply have not bothered to spend the money on testing the new board on 'last year's model'.  The t7400 listed the riser as a 'time of purchase only' option, so they may not have people like us do what we're doing.
I say we, because I'm in the process of taking my 690 from a single Quadro FX 4500 into a dual card SLI configuration.  In addition to the riser, you also need some additional parts because the 'stock' pan will not support the riser install.  You're going to need a Dell Precision 690 Riser Card Assembly Kit (TH757 D8794), which includes a different card fan (the slots that support full length cards are different), a different rear pan ... As the title suggests, after having this laptop for a week now,i noticed this super annoying red tint on the 4K display, especially on darker backgrounds. After doing a bit of research i found other people complaining about this issue as well.To me this is plain crazy after spending 3K euro for a laptop of this class and with these "outstanding display reviews".
Does anyone else here experienced it?Before noticing never paid attention but now knowing it bugs me a lot.I don't really get it how Dell can produce something like that and this is not a 500eu laptop-it is supposed to be a premium workstation with a great display.Sorry for the rant but whoever experience such a thing for their money will understand. And the worst part is that i am not even in the country where i bought it-can't even return it right now.

A:Dell Precision 5510 4K display red tint

Color perception is an individual thing - no two people will necessarily perceive the same color the same way.
Even more than the return issue, if you've moved out of the country of purchase, you may find you have no warranty - you will want to investigate upgrading to an international warranty, should you have an issue in the future.

I faced bugs in 1.14.4 BIOS firmware for Precision 7510.
1. Switchable graphics enabled.
Laptop always behave same way. It boot normally, but there is no image on 4K laptop's display (black screen, no backlight) while firmware booting. HDMI functions only if the laptop cover is closed.
Laptop's 4k display switches on after linux kernel started loading. So it works normally with 4k resolution in Linux OS. It always work in linux.

2. Switchable graphics disabled.
Laptop's display functions occasionally since the start of the BIOS firmware loading. So sometimes i can go to BIOS settings / operate boot sequence and so on. If screen does not functions immediately after the laptop turned on, then there is no image in Linux and there is no image via hdmi (coolers are operate, keyboard is highlighted).
If screen operates it operates normally in 4k resolution in Linux. If screen operates it usally does not funtions after reboot.
I guess that this behavior is caused by incorrect handling of second mode from panel's EDID by BIOS firmware.

I searched the forums and the only posts involved the AMD card and I have an Nvidia card.  I couldn't find any information on the K4000M so I called tech support and they told me it was 2560x1600.  But then I found another forum where they said even the K1000M can do 4k.
I hooked up my 4k TV to the HDMI and used the Nvidia custom resolution to set up 3840x2160 at 30 hz and the display works.  The graphics look great, but the text is super fuzzy.  The TV supports 4K at 60Hz, but I'm not sure if the HDMI port on the back of my M6700 supports 60Hz.
Does the HDMI support 60Hz at 4k?  What about the display port?  Any idea why my text is super fuzzy while the graphics are razor sharp?

A:Precision M6700 Nvidia Quadro K4000M max resolution 4K monitor display port hdmi refresh rate

First, I'm going to refer you to this article from Nvidia discussing Ultra 4k Resolution.  The important statement is this:

The current HDMI 1.4 standard only has bandwidth for 4K at 30hz. HDMI 2.0 will add support for 4K at 60Hz. Details should become clearer in late 2013. There are a few TVs on sale today that support 4K @ 30Hz through HDMI.

Now, according to this review and article about the K4000m card specifications, it states that the card has HDMI 1.4 connections, which means it won't, theoretically, handle Ultra 4k resolution at the 60Hz bandwidth.
I also found this on documentation online about the Precision 6700.

The Precision™ M4700 & M6700 incorporates HDMI version 1.4. Features

So, unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that card will support the higher refresh rate needed.
As for Display port

DisplayPort cables are much simpler to define: There’s just one type! The current version, DisplayPort 1.2, delivers enough bandwidth to carry video resolutions of up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz

So Display Port would be a much better option for you, if available.
I hope this answers your questions.

I have a Dell M6500 precision laptop that has 1 DELL monitor hooked up to it so that it is in a dual monitor configuration with the laptop.

Everytime I undock or reboot or power down the laptop or take the laptop out of the docking station, the laptop would always forget it's dual monitor settings and clone my other monitor rather than keep the "extend the desktop" settings. After I check I can confirm that the laptop always unchecks the Extend my monitor unto this laptop checkbox automatically.

The laptop also seems to reverse and move my icons around the screen and I would have to manually move them all back again. This is frustrating to have to keep doing this and moving my icons back to their original location as well as redo the dual monitor settings again every morning.

I read that a lot of people think it can be a drive problem but I did download the latest drivers from DELL's site and tried both the ISV and the latest driver version to no avail for the nvidia driver.

I also tried reinstalling the drivers but that did not help. Does anyone know how I can make the dual monitor settings stick permanently? Again, I am using a Dell Precision M6500 laptop with docking station and 1 standard DELL flat screen monitor in a dual monitor configuration. Does someone have a more recent driver perhaps or is there some setting that can fix this?

So I am to receive a precision 5510 in the next couple days. I've already bought monitors and a wd15 dell dock. I am a bit confused as to how to hook up dual monitors given that there aren't two of the same port on the WD15 like there was on the E-dock I am currently using for my precision m4700.

At any rate my monitors have HDMI (2), and VGA (1) inputs. The WD 15 has one HDMI, One mini display port, and one VGA.

To run dual monitors I  am assuming I need to run one from the dock's HDMI port to one monitor's HDMI and one either from the dock's Mini display port (with an adapter to HDMI) tot he HDMI port on the other monitor? I supposed I could go VGA to VGA as well, but prefer HDMI.
IS this correct?

I have recently received a Dell Precision 5520 with the UHD display which is a fantastic machine and will be serving me well for the foreseeable future. However I have one rather large niggle which I cannot seem to rectify.
The display seems to be constantly over saturated. The reds and blues are very unnatural and make using the screen rather painful for me.

I have tried to change icc colour profiles using the ubuntu colour config tool to no avail. I have even use the colourmgr cli tool to also change the profile which also didn't work.
Strangely if I use a profile that should switch reds and green around, nothing happens which leads me to believe the icc colour profiles are not being honoured by the system.
Has anybody had the same problem and/or know of a solution.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, since yesterday I have one vertical line on my screen. I am sure it is hardware problem. I red some topics in the web about similar problems and decided to take off the bottom aluminum part of the case and to make sure  the display cable is on its place and is not lose. Everything looks OK. After that procedure the problem still exists.
So my question is : is there way to repair it without need to change of the whole screen assembly ? Can I change only the LED display cable, as I found some spare of them on Ebay ?
Does anyone of you experienced such a fault in this model display ?

I recently bought a Dell Precision M4800 mobile workstation with a Nvidia Quadro K2100 GPU.
I am having issues on video playback - flickering and other lined artefacts towards the top of the display. This occurs during panned shots, rapidly changing images, etc. but this is supposed to be a super graphics card so there should be no problems.
I have tried playout on other monitors/projectors, all with same result. I thought at first there was an issue with the rendering of the video files I had produced from Avid Media Composer but I see the same artefacts on DVD playout and on video from Vimeo/Youtube.
Response from Dell ProSupport has been a little slow (they tell my I "only have basic support") so I'm posting the issue here in case anyone has had similar issues or knows a solution.
My guess is that the GPU is faulty, or perhaps the drivers (though I have checked if these are up to date, and they are).

Ok. I experimented with different resolutions, particularly the native resolution for the laptop monitor of 3200x1800 (I had it a t 1920x1080 so that I am able to read text - Windows hasn't resolved the scaling issue for these new hi res monitors)... Still the same artefacts during playback, although DVD playback on the Laptop monitor was improved.

I have an up-to-date computer built to run games very well. I want to use two monitors. They're both TVs that support being used as a monitor. The first one is the one I've been using since I bought the computer, connected via HDMI converted to DVI(i believe. not VGA, but still gets fastened by one screw on each side). The other, new TV that I bought, I am trying to connect via HDMI converted to DisplayPort, and nothing is registering or being found/detected

I tried to install the newly released Dell Precision Optimizer v3.5.5 (A00) August 18, 2016 on my Precision 5510, running Windows 7 64bit.

Sounds like a tough one. Your support site has articles & threads about it.

Computer Does Not Turn On Or Go Into Windows
=== Quote ====
No Video
If the power indications are normal but there is never any video seen on the computer's display during the startup process, this probably indicates a No Video issue.
If you have a desktop computer and the monitor has its own power supply, make sure the monitor has a power indicator showing that it is turned on.
To troubleshoot a No Video issue, click on the links below:

For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. ePSA will test video with a series of patterns. If they look fine but you want to test more, you can respond to the video test with "N" and ePSA will then launch the LCD BIST test. If you have a no video issue, you can either run the Fn+Power to enter ePSA or D+Power to run the LCD BIST.

I need to convert to dual monitors on a HP 6200 Pro MT PC with Display Port and VGA ports.  The computer displays propertly with a single monitor connected to the VGA port.  Both monitors go black when I plug in a second monitor via the Display Port. In reading Internet documentation it is not clear if dual monitors will function from the system Display Port and VGA ports.  Forum articles address dual monitors with addition of a discrete video card (Big_Dave 2/4/2012). Will dual monitors work from the system Display Port and VGA ports?  If yes, what procedures are required to make such configuration work?  Any ideas on why the monitors go black?  Is a discrete video card required? Any assistance would be much apprecited as I ususally prepare income taxes and do not deal with bytes and bits.

My Dell precision 5510's display driver stops responding and getting recovered if I run any graphic intense programs in it. It happens only when I run it without the charger connected, it works fine if charger is connected.
It says display driver stopped responding and recovered by itself, but I am not able to resume whatever I was doing. It makes me rerun the program, after a while, some 2 minutes, the loop repeats(display driver stops working and getting recovered again). This makes me not able to use my laptop at all without charger connected.
I dont see any issue with less graphic intense programs like browsing etc., This happens only during games for me, I hope it will be the case with other graphic intense programs also.

Thanks in advance,
Any help wiil be much appreciated,

A:Dell precision 5510 display driver issue while laptop runs without mains (battery powered)

The system is functioning as designed - it shifts to the integrated GPU when on battery power to allow the system to run longer than it would with the discrete GPU.  While you can change that setting, which may help with the issue you see, you'll likely find the system won't run very long on a charge if you do.
If you want full power out of the CPU and GPU for games, play with the adapter connected.

Morning, Trying to figure out something here, this is, for all intents and purposes, something new for me, as I've been mostly a "Mom n Pop" Tech vs "Business Tech" so, anyway. I'm working with M900, and M910Q with Intel 530 Integrated for video. I'm trying to trouble the following issues to verify if I missed anything, before punting said minipcs to Lenovo for RMA. Anywho, issues: 1. A M910Q, only the DP port with the metal bracket will work. When the Primary is plugged in, any secondary plugged into the other ports will show up under that port when looking at it in the Intel GFX Display view. I figured this out when I changed the resolution on the 2nd monitor, primary changes. Primary is the live monitor. 2. We have a number of M910s and M900's where when trying to use dual monitors, thru DP -> VGA or DP -> DVI. Monitors would flicker like strobe lights. This can sometimes be bandaided by swapping cables and adapters, but not completely remove the issue. I will point out that we do not have any actual DP Capable monitors on site. Not yet anyway, and those that will be, are going to ThinkCentres with Discrete Cards in them... Ideas? Am I miss anything? I don't see anything in the BIOS to help me, and updating the drivers doesn't seem to provide resolution either. Most are running old drivers, but a few are running the latest for the machine.

So i'm using a Folio 9470m at work on a 2013 Ultraslim Docking station with 2 Display Port connectors, but if i attach two screens to those it only displays them as one device and mirrors the image on both screens. Furthermore if i go into the screen and resolution settings, both identify as screen 1, but i can set 3840x1080 instead of 1920x1080 and at that moment the picture will span over both screens as one. The downside to this is that the login screen, windows i open for the first time, they're all gonne appear in the middle where the bezels are, it handles them as one bigger screen and not as 2 screens that extend each other. I need them to be detected as 2 seperate screens, and so far i have had no success. Has anyone experienced this or knows a solution? I really don't want to connect the second screen via VGA. Can the folio handle 2 display port connections on a dock? Is this maybe the cause?

As far as I know the  Folio 9470m doesnt support more then one external display.  I think you can verify this by having a look at the quickspec document for the model.
