Q: refreshing problems, sry if im posting in the wrong place

ive been here before, and i asked about this. My screen starts to get laggy, and i cant do anything after i refresh a page a couple of times. I have to end up closing all opened internet explorers and opening it again.
The last time someone made me run hijack this, and fixed some stuff but it didnt help.
I did notice that ie started using more memory when i looked in task manager.
I scanned with hijackthis and i dont see anything wrong-

Preferred Solution: refreshing problems, sry if im posting in the wrong place

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am moving this over to the IE forum, as the log is clean and this really doesn't sound like an infection problem.

I have a built in webcam on my HP laptop, and because of situations with my parents I'm not allowed to use my cam. I tried disabling it, but for some reason it still shows on MSN that I have a webcam. I tried uninstalling it, but it'd make me restart and when I restarted it it'd reinstall. Disabling my webcam worked on my old Acer laptop, so I don't understand why it's doing this on this laptop.. but I didn't worry too much about it because I know I can hide my cam on MSN. So I pressed the button to hide my cam.. but people can still see that I have a webcam and still keep requesting to view.

I've checked everything I know to check, everything seems to be in place.. but it's still showing.

Screen shots:
SS showing I have it unchecked: http://i43.tinypic.com/711q91.jpg
SS taken from my computer, I'm obviously the bottom: http://i42.tinypic.com/20r8zo1.jpg

SS from device manager showing I disabled my webcam: http://i41.tinypic.com/15dtiti.jpg

Have you tried searching through Programs And Features in control panel to see if HP has any additional software that may be conflicting with you disabling it?

Hello all, im after some help/answers.

I have a creative 5.1 soundblaster sound card in my desk top, and a X-540 5.1 chanel logitech sound system.

My problem is, i have to have the audio on movies (i use nero showtime to play movies) when i have it set to 5.1 (as shown)

and the computer sound settings in controll pannell set to 5.1

but when i actually play the movies, i get all the.... ambiance and background sounds, but no speech, when the actors talk there lips move but no sound/very faint all exept for the ambiance.

if u can understand what im saying, again sorry if im posting in the wrong area, if you can help or explain to me whats going on/what im doing wrong, itd be much help.

agaiin thankyou

Im using windows xp pro
if u need anymore info please ask

A:Hey all, not sure if im posting this in the right place

That's pretty typical when the center channel isn't working correctly, are you sure you are playing a 5.1 movie audio stream? I assume that its simulated Nero surround? I've never found a good simulated surround sound (unlike Dolby Headphone) in a small home theatre system so I wonder about that. Have you tried the Dolby Logic instead and is that same, better, worse?

There's probably a diagnostic speaker level check utility there somewhere. Have you run that and determined the hookup is correct?

Its hard to tell for sure, you may just have some setting or hookup that isn't quite right or you may be working cross purpose to what the audio stream you're working with is designed and capable of doing.

Hi guys, I think I have some malware on my pc. I am getting random screenshots of my screen (ingame or not) and its posting them in AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsFeedback_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\{5572e16e-c8e9-48ed-bfa5-d57f27c38141}.
I recently made the jump to Windows 10 and constantly its been acting odd. I am probably paranoid but I dont remember taking screenshots and I am pretty sure id remember putting them in such a niche folder. Another thing is I logged onto my PC this morning and my wifi was turned off mysteriously. Id be appreciative of any help.

A:My computer is taking random screenshots and posting them in an odd place

Hi sharkI'm suspecting a hardware issue. Can you hook uo another keyboard and see if that solves it. We can still also scan.

So I had about 2-3 bluescreens the other week but never got round to figuring out what happened. In one instance the computer made a loud whirring noise, like wow, I thought the hardware was failing, but it did it's check and I restarted. And went back to what I was doing.

Then the screen started randomly reloading and I couldn't do anything or load anything because it was doing that and would shut any open explorer windows, basically explorer refreshing?

So I tried a linux booted from USB and it loaded without issue.

Reinstalled Windows. Seemed fine, then started up again. This time the process in task manager was 'cortana background task host' whereas last time before the restart it was something else. Both times it would hog up CPU at 100%

I ended it, and can now use most of the computer, I have this browser window open but I can't open explorer.exe without the problem coming back. The only way I can open an explorer window to browse files is by right clicking on a process in task manager and choosing open file location. Then I can browse.

What can I do and what might be wrong with the computer?

i guess i'm newer than i thought i was......a friend gave me a new monitor that is larger than my old one....so i have a lot of black screen ......wish i could fix this...if someone could help or redirect me, i would appreciate it....thank you

A:may be in the wrong place

The monitor you have now, as the old monitor you had, should have some buttons or knobs on the front of it. These are used to resize the image, adjust it's position etc. Try them out looking for the obvious such as a knob with an image that looks like it will stretch it etc. Also, you might want to adjust your settings to a different resolution. For example: 800X600, 1024X768 etc. To do that, just right click on an empty space on your desktop, select PROPERTIES, then left click on SETTINGS, then move the slider under SCREEN AREA. Hope this helps, T.

if the mods would kindly move this post into the correct forum, as i'm unable to post there myself!!

up until today my pc has been working fine, but i have had a few virii detected by AVG that it said it had healed. now i cant browse any web pages to do with virii or anything remotely linked to it as my web browser closes down totally, this is if i use IE, firefox or opera, for instance i cant open the hijack this log forum as my window just shuts down!!

if i try open AVG it gets as far as the grisoft opening page then shuts down before i can do anything, same with system restore, if i click that it tells me it has been switched off through group policy and to contact administrator, for which i have administrator rights on this pc.

i can open every window from control panel, except administrative tools, if i try it just shuts the window down totally, this even happens if i boot up into safe mode, nothing that i know of will help, but then i'm not a pc whizz-kid!!

please help me, i have posted a hijack this log, hopefully someone can stop me throwing my pc out the window in frustration!!

Could anyone tell me the best utility for fixing the registry/broken links/shortcuts etc in XP Home. My computer has become quite slow and I think I may have a lot of rubbish cluttering up the system.I do tend to trial a lot of progs and then uninstall them.

A:This question may be in the wrong place

Personally I would not 'fix' anything in the Registry. Yes there may be a few broken links but they will be taking up minimal space and will probably not cause your system to slow down that you would notice.. Better to defrag your hard disc and run something like Cleanup! to clear out your temp files etc.

A friend has just created a new subdomain of his existing site. If I go to http://www.newsubdomain.existingsite.com, I see the host's generic "new site will be available soon" message. BUT if I go to http://newsubdomain.existingsite.com (that is, the same address, but without the leading "www."), I wind up on the site for some perfectly innocent-looking automotive specialty parts distribution company. (It looks like they mostly sell to retailers, not the public, so it makes no sense at all for them to be complicit in this apparent hijacking, although someone could have put something malicious on their site, I guess.)My computer is a laptop running WinXP Pro. AVG, spybot and Ad-aware scans find nothing amiss. The machine has no other symptoms of any kind of infection, afaict. The problem shows up regardless of whether I use Firefox or IE, but another machine on my home-network does NOT have this problem, so I know it's not a case of my ISP's DNS cache having been poisoned. I did run ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt; that didn't fix it.Could this just be some simple corrupted record somewhere, or must we conclude a malware infection?TIA!!!

Hi, has anyone ever experienced this, in Win XP?

I'll try to explain the best I can... my father (on his computer), was playing around with his taskbar putting it on the sides to see if he'd like there, I guess...

Now he's got repeats of his icons from the desktop sitting on his taskbar, fullsize. We tried to delete them, but if we did, they would also delete the twin that's on the desktop. I found this too be so weird, his taskbar is now about an inch and a quarter high, and we could not reduce it.

Has anyone ever seen such a glitch?

I don't think a restore would do anything, it being icons...

Or when the washing machine switches from wash to spin. (The fan only does it switching from "hi" to "medium," not from med to slow.

I have WINDOWS XP, and can't figure out what other topic this question might belong in...

I don't know when or how it happened, but two file folders MY SHARED DOCUMENTS and CARRIE'S DOCUMENTS are now in MY COMPUTER.

MY COMPUTER, where it shows the drives. I am pretty sure it never had yellow folders in it before.

I think they should be in C DRIVE? There is a MY DOCUMENTS in C Drive, but it has nothing in it. I'm the only one who uses this computer, but apparenty everything saved goes into CARRIE'S DOCUMENTS. SHARED DOCUMENTS has various folders in it that I suppose would be shared by all, if others used the computer, too.

I've tried dragging them there (or anywhere) but only shortcuts appear in the new area. The folders still say in MY COMPUTER. They won't copy and paste.

When I open something, like in WORD, etc. I can still find them, just they are under MY COMPUTER.

So, they still work, it just seems strange, like they shouldn't be in MY COMPUTER. Unless I have totally missed this for the past year, I don't remember ever seeing them in there before. I take pictures off my memory card with a removable drive, which shows up as F drive, so I look in MY COMPUTER to click on this, all the time.

What happened and how can I fix it? Actually, since it seems to work this way, the only reason to fix it seems to be it looks odd this way.

I got broadband last week and we're only allowed 2GB monthly usage limit (hehe, well it is cheap). I was wondering if streaming videos counts towards this, like does it take up disk space? And is there any chance of viruses? Thanks, pretty random, but I'd like to know.

A:ok this is probably the wrong place, but...youtube

Yes that will count towards your 2GB monthly allowance...everything you get from the internet will count (emails, webpages, videos, music etc).

It does take up disk space but once you clear your temporary internet files, that will solve the problem.

As with the risks of internet use, there is a chance of picking up spyware/viruses by downloading content....but the chances are far less with reputable sites.

Hope that helps :)

My computer was running fine when the problem struck ( as always.) I started a video game, specifically Gary's mod, nothing too straining for my system and the screen FROZE UP. Purple Everywhere, and little black lines near my mouse.

I tried to restart, thinking it was just a fluke but it kept happening, even when i wasn't playing now, making it impossible to use as the screen would freeze and glitch up.

I went into safe mode and downloaded the latest drivers and it still keeps happening.

I did a system restore and it keeps happening, but now it won't even show the Windows Log-in screen out of safe-mode, only a black screen with the pointer.

And yet it works perfectly fine in safe-mode!

I don't know what to do, I need this fixed ASAP, much thanks in advance for any help given, and I'm running an 8800 GT graphics card with about 2 Gigs of ram and have never had graphical problems up until now.

I'm trying to get a DXDiag file, but it doesn't seem to want to do it, in safe mode anyway.

A:Heeelp! Something seriously wrong. (Posting from Safe-mode)

I opened up my computer and dusted it, looked around at stuff and wires and generally did nothing. It consisted of me going "What the is this, work you "
The smiley face being a censor for my non-family friendly words. But... now it seems to work oddly enough?

Perhaps the power of the mind is enough?

Perhaps the computer was afraid of me tearing out its insides and replacing it.

For some time now I have had no sound. I think I might have plugged the sound connector into the wrong hole. On the back of my Dell Dimension #2350 PC are 3 holes (one pink, one light blue and one real dark blue). I currently have it plugged into the pink hole & was wondering if I should try one of the other two.

Have I got it connected in the right hole now or would I hurt anything by moving it to one of the other two holes?

I am a beginner and would really appreciate any suggestions and/or help as I really miss the sound, especially on e-mail cards I receive.

A:Have I Got Sound Connected In Wrong Place?

It would not hurt the computer or your speakers to plug it into the other holes.

Make sure your speakers are plugged into the wall (if they are that type of speaker), make sure they are turned on! And turned up! Put in some music, play it, and then plug the speakers into the different ports and see if they work.

If they still don't, let us know and one of us can walk you through it!

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP Pro. I have just changed my email host to lunarpages.com, and configured a new (IMAP) account in my email client Outlook Express per lunarpages instructions. I am able to send and receive emails, but the sent mails are being saved in the ‘Sent Items’ folder in Local Folders rather than in the IMAP account. Anybody know how to make them appear in a ‘sent items’ folder in the IMAP account? I’d ask tech support at lunarpages, but they’re gone until Tuesday.

I'm trying to use robocopy for mirroring my most important files between two computers. Except for one issue, it works as expected.

I'm trying to copy the complete "Documents" directory. Previously, this was called "My documents" and contained for example "My pictures". Now it doesn't, and I like that, but robocopy don't. Somehow it still searches for these directories, and of course can't find them. Seems robocopy needs a fix, or am I missing out on something here?

A:Robocopy looking for my directories in the wrong place

When I use robocopy, I use it in a text based batch file. So, as long as your paths are correct in the batch file it should go exactly where you tell it to. I haven't noticed any issues doing it this way with Windows 7.

I Just updated my bios from R1-B4 to R1-C0 and i havnt seen any differnce, bios options are the same, pc still has buggy boots before getting to Operating system select,
so what would a bios update do exsacly?

A:BIOS Updated But.... (Sorry If In Wrong Place)

I can't say without seeing the release notes on the bios update, Generally they will only fix one problem at a time. Often it's compatibility for hardware that you may not even have. Meaning you will be unaffected by the update at all.

I've installed a windows to go on my USB driver. It works well, but only doesn't work on my own home computer.
The symptom is that it will boot from my hard drive(I've already set the BIOS to boot from USB drive).
I've checked the BCD file in my USB drive, it's normal when booting from other computers. But on my home computer, it will be replaced by another file, which contents are exactly same as BCD file on my hard drive. I don't know why.
So it there anyone who knows about the boot process of windows to go? And how could i solve this problem?

Yesterday on my W10 PC, when I click the FILE EXPLORER button in my task bar I got random results. Same today. Sometimes it would start normally and show me all the computer, folders, etc.
Other times it would show me this - see below. Then take 5 mins to open.
Also in a directory full of photos it would show thumbnails of the first 50% and the rest would be missing.
Never seen this before. Any suggestions?
