Adobe flash player plugin won't update

Q: Adobe flash player plugin won't update

In Firefox 4.0 beta 7, under my Plugins list, it says that I have Adobe Flash Player I tried looking for updates but it didn't detect any. So I tried manually installing the Flash Player, but that hasn't worked either.
For example, if I go to Amazon's Gold Box page, the listing doesn't show up. It's just blank. And for some advertisements, it says that Adobe Flash player has crashed.
Anything I could do to fix this?

Preferred Solution: Adobe flash player plugin won't update

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Adobe flash player plugin won't update

Uninstall Flash with the Adobe Flash Uninstaller.

Next, download the latest Adobe Flash Player (Non-IE).

Hi, I have spent several days searching for a reason that Adobe flash player will not instal & can't find any help. I'm running a desktop with WinXp, SP3. & using Firefox. I did a clean install of the operating sysytem & everything else has been loading without a hitch. It goes through the motions of installing & seems to be done. A check of it at the adobe site, indicates it's not installed. I have used adobe's uninstaller & tried several times to get it installed with no luck! It doesn't show in the Firefox plugins either. Has anyone had such an experience? Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Adobe flash player plugin

Visit this page: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows   What error message does it give? It may or may not be all that helpful.
Scroll through and read all the info in that link above.
Run the uninstaller again after closing all programs and browsers...anything that might use flash. Restart the computer.
Go back to the page in link above to check if Flash is uninstalled.
You can do a file search for Macromedia Flash Player, Adobe Flash Player and Flash Player....then delete them.
This time, download and save the installer for Flash. Exit all programs and Browsers.
Find and click on the installer for Flash.
There are issues with Flash 11.3 and Firefox. See info here and if they apply to you: Issues | Flash Player 11.3 | Mozilla Firefox

I'm having an issue with adobe flash player plugin in my IE7. It causes my IE7 to shut down when I go to sites like MySpace. I disabled it and that stopped it from shutting down, however there are videos I need to watch. I tried to reinstall it, but it gives me a runtime error. Any suggestions how to fix it? I have Windows XP Professional.

A:Problem With Adobe Flash Player Plugin

It looks like this may have more to do with IE7 than Flash. Maybe someone else can confirm this but uninstalling & reinstalling IE7 could be the answer.

I currently have Firefox 3.5.7 installed and am trying to access a site that requires the current version of Adobe Flash Player (10.0.42). When I download and install it, the website still doesn't recognize flash player being installed.

I go to Adobe.com, make sure I am downloading the one for WinXP/Firefox and install it, then it says that it is successfully installed. However, when I try to access the site, and it says that the current version of flash player is not installed, with a link to the adobe site to download the latest version (which I already did).

I have tried uninstalling the flash player, from both Windows and Adobe's uninstaller, and reinstalling with no success. I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, still nothing. For fun, I tried updating IE, and it works fine, but I REALLY don't like IE.

Another note: when I uninstall Flash Player, it doesn't remove it from my machine (add/remove program list), even when Windows asks, "Adobe ... is already uninstalled, would you like to remove it from the list?" Additionally, when I go to Adobe's Flash Player version tester site, it reports that IE is running version 10.0.42, but when I access it with FF, it shows a link to download the latest Adobe FP.

A:Best way to Update Adobe Flash Player

Each browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome) uses its own version of flash player.
For Chrome, it's embedded, the "PPAPI" version.
For Firefox, it's the "NPAPI" (Plug-In) version.
For IE under Win7, it's the "ActiveX" version.
The latter 2 must be installed separately.

First step will be to UNINSTALL the older versions, as they are a huge security risk.

To uninstall for eligible browsers, first download the uninstaller from this link, then CLOSE the browsers (important!), then run the uninstaller tool:

Uninstall Flash Player for Windows

For Flash Player for Firefox and similar browsers, you would need to separately download and install it from within Firefox from here:

Adobe Flash Player download

You can do the same by browsing to the same page using IE, to get the ActiveX version for IE.

OR, manual downloads of the different versions are here:

Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions

To test each browser to see if you have the current version, you would need to try this website separately for each browser:

Adobe - Flash Player

Adobe appears to have released a Flash player update. Here's the full version download link: Download Flash player you can download the helper version from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ The difference between the two is that with the latter, you'll only be downloading a helper file which when run, will perform the update over the Internet. The full version can be installed locally offline. If you didn't disable the auto-updater which is a new feature in version, you should have received the latest version automatically already. To check, hit CTRL+SHIFT+A in Firefox to get the "Add-ons" menu and then open the "Plugins" submenu. Or in IE, go to "Tools" | "Manage Add-ons" and set the left hand dropdown menu to "Run without permission". There doesn't appear to be a Adobe security bulletin for the latest version, so you might want to postpone updating until more details emerge.

Since last night, my laptop and my desktop PCs at home (both sharing the same internet connexion through a Linksys WRT54G router - the desktop operates on WinXP 32-bit, my laptop on Win7 64-bit, never had a problem with this set up until last night) do not seem to recognize a Flash Player being installed at all, when I go to website requesting Flash Player. Until last night, it was fine.

3 days ago, if I recall, I have updated both systems with the automatic pop-up Adobe Flash Player installer that comes on when your start your system to tell you that there is a new update available. At the end and for both computers, I got a message that told me that both installations had been a success. Shut down systems. Start them up again last night and there, no more Flash Player, in both systems. Or it seemed, because when I went into START/DEFAULT PROGRAMS/PROGRAMS AND FEATURES to see the list of programs in both computers, well the Adobe Flash Player 11.1 whatever was listed. So I told myself that maybe it had not downloaded right, and right in there, I uninstalled the application, for both systems.

Next step: I proceeded to go on Adobe.com and download the application once more. I started with my laptop first. Into their DOWNLOAD section I went and it automatically proposed to me to download the file for Windows 64-bit. Clicked on it, a window came up, RUN, and it downloaded the installer. Ok. Once it was done, I clicked to start the installer. The installer somehow allows t... Read more

Okay, so over the passed few months when I had time, I updated the out-of-date Adobe Flash Player on this computer, with no problems at all.
Today I updated to the next version and then Youtube videos won't play; it's nothing but a black screen.  So I tried updating another version higher and uninstalling the previous one; same problem with Youtube videos.
So I uninstalled that and went back and installed the version I was at that I had no problems with and I still can't see Youtube videos.
I've cleared the Youtube, Google, and Adbobe cookies with no success.  I've restarted twice with no success.  I've run Temp File Cleaner and still had no success.
I also tried emptying the Flash Player cahce (but did not restart).
That was all I did, no other hardware/software/or programs or updates.
What now?

We are encountering an issue on IE 11 where a recording functionality on our website (which relies on adobe flash player) does not work (results on session cookies being lost for requests after posting the recording to the server) if any of the following
updates have been installed on the computer:

KB4480979 (update-for-adobe-flash-player)KB4489907 (security-update-for-adobe-flash-player-march-12-2019)KB4493478 (security-update-for-adobe-flash-player-april-9-2019)
We notified the support team of this issue around a month ago and were told that the Microsoft team would look into fixing this bug. Could you please provide an update at your earliest convenience? Thanks!
