Drivers not up to date windows 10 Pavilion 15 notebook

Q: Drivers not up to date windows 10 Pavilion 15 notebook

Hi I've been running Windows 10 on my Pavilion 15 notebook for a while (at least a year) but I'm now getting error messages from a couple of applications (Now TV and Roblox) telling me my graphics drivers are not up to date. I can see newer drivers for Intel HD graphics on the intel site but it won't install them because it says bespoke HP versions of graphics drivers are already installed. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello I was wondering about the compatibility for the Product name: HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC (Product number: QC368PA#ABG) with windows 8. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ad/windows-8/instructions.html says that my model has not has drivers made for it yet, although i bought it after the required date. I am worried about system incompatibility or certain hardware not functioning properly as I had this problem when i first bought my laptop. Are there any drivers which can be supplied or provided for this computer. The hardware on the machine is: Processer: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2930QM CPU Graphics:AMD Radeon 6770M These are the only components which I am worried about compatibility although I have also heard of people having problems with the Beats Audio drivers.

Hey Evoicefire,  I really wish I had better news for you but (like you mentioned) this computer doesn't have any Windows 8 drivers made available through HP for it. Only Windows 7 drivers are listed for it on the Driver Page. In many cases Windows 7 drivers will suffice although there may be slight glitches. Third parties do offer drivers that may work too. I found this forum thread where users confirm that this driver version works for the 6770M. There's a lot of good information on that forum thread.  That processor should be OK with Windows 8. I'm not seeing any issues online regarding that processor and Windows 8. If you have any other questions, let me know

HP obviously don't support Win8 on your machine, hence no drivers, you can check on the HP website by entering your model number. In that case you will have to identify the components from the published specs and search the manufacturers for Win8 drivers.

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion DV8000 (EU008UA#ABA) off ebay. It has an Intel Core Duo 2600T and ATI Radeon Xpress 200M graphics card running Windows XP. The system is in great shape and has a lot of life left in it but I'm having an extremely difficult time finding drivers. I've searched everywhere but I can't find the chipset or the display drivers and was hoping someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction since HP removed the software for this laptop when they recently retired it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Brad

Hi. Ive had a problem for a little while with my girlfriends laptop.  HP Pavilion Notebook - 15z-p100 CTO (ENERGY STAR) AMD/AMD-Radeon graphics HD 8610g/r7 M260-Windows 8.1 64bit (previously Win10 64bit)  The laptop isnt working for buisness or pleasure because none of the graphics drivers from Hp (and Ive tried them all) are working properly. We upgraded the laptop to windows 10 a while back and we learned that apparently doing that makes it so the recovery harddrive that came with it wont work. I tried factory resetting but that didnt work at all, leaving me no choice but to reinstall windows 8.1 fresh. Obviously thats not how it was shipped to me as I assume its missing crutial HP installs and such to make the switchable graphics work. Ive ordered the media to revert back to factory settings but my question is, is that even going to work? It seems like after windows 10 came out the drivers for my specific laptop, and other people that ive read about just wont work for switchable graphics.  AMD and Microsoft both say to talk to HP. So that being said, here I am. What is someone to do with a crippled computer that was still fairly recently purchased when all of the video drivers wont work? Ive gone through HP assistant, ive gone through the hp website and downloaded everything individually but still with no luck. I look forward to hearing from someone.

2 suggestions: 1. Get a good headset with microphone. The microphone built into the chassis of the laptop is not ideal. For example, Skype discourages trying to use it for video calling.  2. You do not have recovery disks but you can make a system backup that could be used to put your exact software setup, apps, documents, etc. back on the machine in the event of a hard drive failure. You can never rely on any hard drive as the sole copy of any information that is important to you.  Please provide the model number so we can be more detailed in giving advice about your hardware.

Recently I formatted my hard drive and re-installed Windows XP. Because the original re-installation disk was almost 6 years old I had to download SP2 & SP3 service packs. I also discovered that a number of drivers were out of date, after downloading driver-scan software, I purchased a 30day licence for the driver update/repair element of this software, I have "updated" my drivers, although I am not sure, as I found the use of this application a bit confusing. Needless to I say, I find the original problems persisting and my PC is now operating far slower than after re-installation. The original problems were no sound and dvd's unable to play. There may be other issues I am not yet aware.

If I purchased the latest version of Windows XP, will this solve my driver problems.

I would appreciate any advice on curing these problems, are should I just get a new PC.

Regards,
Mark McL

First of all . . most of those "Driver fixer" programs are worthless at best . . totally unnecessary. The first thing I would do in uninstall it.

You can download all the newest drivers from the manufacturers support site for free.

When I upgraded to Win 8.1 from Vista everything went great and worked ok with a couple of minor driver issues.  after about 4 or 5 months I noticed on the file manager that the DVD player didn't show up anymore and when I went to backup Quicken.  I have looked for and tried a couple of updated drivers and I received a couple of trojans for my trouble so I haven't tried in a while.  Now I have a program on a disk I found that I would like to install.  If I put the disk in the DVD player and it recognizes it and runs till it times out so I don't think It's the player.  It does the same thing with the Win 8.1 disk.  The DVD R/W does not show up in the Root dir or the device manager file either. I've even pulled the DVD and started up, shut down and put it back in and re-started with no luck I hate to buy a new one if it doesn't need it. Thanks any suggestion would be appreciated.

Dear helpful Friends.   I bought this laptop and every time it would ask me to activate windows. After one month I returned it back to the shop where I bought it. Kindly they received it and sent it back to Hp branch and told me that, they would call me when it is ready. After three hours they called and told me to come for my laptop that it was ready. I went and picked it. Thanks it is working without asking to activate windows. Before then, it had a recovery partition which was there from the day I bought the laptop, and which was there before the windows was activated. Now, my question is, in case I use the recovery partition to return the laptop to the way it was from the factory, will the windows be active, and if not, will I have to take it back to Hp branch again to activate for me or what should I do.?

In November 2015 I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (64 bit). My Bluetooth devices were working properly. Last week I did a complete hard disk reformat and reinstallation of Windows 10.  Now I cannot connect any of my Bluetooth devices. In Device Manager, it says the two Bluetooth devices (Generic Bluetooth Adapter and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator) are working properly. The drivers are both dated 21 June 2006, version 10.0.10586.420 (Microsoft). When I try to connect, it shows "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices.", but none of my devices (Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and several Apple iDevices) show up. I have of course enabled discovery on the devices. Is there a driver I need? I know this can work, since everything was OK after I upgraded to Windows 10, before the full reinstallation. Also, I followed the same procedures on my HP Pavilion destop (HPE-590t) and Buetooth works fine there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello I have a
HP Pavilion dv6-3049tx Entertainment Notebook PC
with windows 7 which I am using from quite sometime, recently I decided to dual boot my system with windows 8.

But after taking an origional windows 8.1 from msdn official site when i tried to dual boot I had some issue of "dynamic disk" which I came to know that I cant install a new OS if my hard disk is of "dynamic type". Now after reading from many blogs I downloaded one utility and converted my hard disk from "dynamic type" to "basic type" with that utility without formatting the hard disk, but just by using that utility which went fine.

Now after installing the origional windows 8.1 from the bootable pen drive yesterday I was using fine until now.

I have a Pavilion g7 Notebook PC that currently has Windows 8.  This morning I received a pop up box stating windows 10 would be installed on Sunday.  I decided to not wait and selected install now.  the screen went fast and I could not get all the information other than something about download and reboot.  I dont think it dowloaded anything given that took about  1 minute.  I called Microsoft this morning and they told me hooked up to my computer and told me the laptop can be upgrade to Windows 10; however I needed to contact HP for current drivers.  I have been all over Hp site trying to find this information and can't seem to find it.  Can you help?  I do have a serial number and product # but I dont know the series.

sheilabroderick I read your post about needing Win10 drivers and wanted to help -- but need more information. If you can, please follow the directions in this link to find the detailed product number of your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0001If that is not possible, then look for a sticker on the PC that includes the product number and post that here.  If the battery is removable, the sticker is likely to be in the battery compartment. We can proceed once you provide the information. Thanks

I would like to explain the Recovery went well, but I thought I would do a telling of how I reached that point. I do have a few questions afterwards.
My Niece came to me the other day and asked me if I could take a look at her machine. It was acting very slow with a lot of features unavailable, so I said sure.

Product Page for niece's machine:
HP Pavilion dv4-2145dx Entertainment Notebook

I figured out why she was having problems after I ran 5 different anti-virus/malware programs on it. Lets see if I remember correctly.

There were:
350 adware/spyware cookies on it.
18 viruses.
9 Trojans.
3 rootkits.
2 worms.
2 keyloggers.
Even Windows Defender found 1 backdoor loader. Good 'ol Defender, eh?
It got to a point that every time I removed whatever those five programs found, the machine would exhibit even worse behaviour.

When I noticed there were several duplications of computer locations listed in the left pane of Explorer; Favorites, Desktop, Library, Computer, Network, Homegroup, I had enough and decided to cut my losses and do what HP calls a Recovery.

Because the Start menu Folder for Recovery was (empty) along with Administrative Tools, and the other HP Bloatware (BW) Folders, I tried using HP's method of getting into Recovery, but that didn't work either.
I had to see if Recovery was still in Explorer and it was. I clicked on the Recovery.exe file, and success!
It started, ran, and now I am at a point where I am just about finished with Windows Updates.

As far as Steam goes, I, and no one I know that uses it, has had a problem with it, but as far as I know, we all have it set to not run at start up and only use it when actually playing something. The only program similar to Steam that I can think of is Origin and that is only for EA games. Both will eat up some resources if left running all the time, so show her how to exit out of steam from the notification area and set steam to not run at startup (can be done within Steam's settings). If you have any particular issues/concerns with using Steam, don't be afraid to ask.

I don't know what to tell you about Bonjour, other than get a different phone/mp3 player.

The list of programs was not changed in the registry for some reason. You can use CCleaner to check for references to Java in the registry and remove Java from the list of installed programs.

I'd go with $20 or more an hour.

Hi,I wanted to ask how the Windows (C : ) and DATA (D : )  disks work.I'd like to move some of the datas from the first disk to the second one, since the DATA disk has 1 TB aviable and the Windows disk is run out of memory.Yesterday i've tried to move some programs to that disk, but apparently my PC was not able to find them anymore (it was like i've uninstalled them). So, exactly how does it work?

Hi, Moving programs from C: to D: won't work. You MAY BE able to do a fresh install some programs on D: You can move data/files (videos, musics, documents ...) from C: to D: and some programs may give errors but they can fix themselves. Regards.

SCK1 Sorry to hear your HP DV6 has crashed.  I have one myself and they are really good laptops. There is nowhere you can download a Win7 image that will work on your laptop because it uses an HP OEM version of Windows, and that can not be downloaded.  Instead, you have to order it from HP, and it is included in something known as HP Recovery Media. HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.Unfortunately, HP no longer stocks recovery media for a lot of the DV6, so they might not carry the media you need. If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/ Please NOTE that the HP Recovery Function erases the ENTIRE content of the hard drive, so if there are any files or folders you want to retain, you need to copy those off to USB stick or external drive before you run the Recovery function.Good Luck
