Great Program for Recording Sounds

Q: Great Program for Recording Sounds

Hey guys, just thought I'd share this with ya!

I found a great program called MP3myMP3 (CNET Review here: MP3 My MP3 Recorder - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com) that records sounds that your PC makes.
In other words, the sound that YOU hear from it.
E.G. If you wanted to record an error sound that Windows Makes (I know that they're in C: Somewhere this is just an example) you'd just press record and then play the sound and press stop. Simple.

Just thought I'd share as it came in handy for me.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all; I have a weird problem. My Dell Dimension 3000 Running XP bla-bla....had no drivers installed when I got it back. Had to download Ethernet driver on another computer to a flash drive. And get it up and running. The writable CD-Rom sounds fine {it has a different driver than the player only] I double checked the driver twice and it is the exact one. I even tried a different cd-rom device and it had the audio quality problem. It just sort of sounds like it's clipping.I don't know where to go next........HELP!

The downward-facing camera is great for recording craft-oriented videos.  I used the Camera app on Windows 10.  Here is my first video - recorded and uploaded to YouTube at 720p. 2016-04-03 changed mistyping - I am using the Camera app to do this, not the Photos app.

Hello there! I've been looking all over the net and asked my friends and tried out various things, but nothing seems to work and I'm quite clueless as to what to do now to solve this problem.

Before I start, here is the complete list of my computer's specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...67&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&product=3462903&lang=en

My computer is identical to what is listed there, except that I have a legit version of Windows XP installed on it instead of Vista. The Vista that came with the computer caused way too many problems and I couldn't do what I wanted with my computer so I decided to use XP till Vista gets some of its stuff fixed. I've installed all the necessary XP versions of the drivers on my computer and everything is working fine and dandy, except for one thing. For some reason, when I record sound using my headset, it also records the sounds heard on the headset at the time of the recording. My speakers aren't on and there's no way the mic could pick the sound up from my headphones, the sound isn't *that* loud. This happens with normal Windows sound recording, Ventrilo, Skype... Everything. If I speak on Ventrilo while listening to music, the music gets transmitted as well even though it's playing from my headphones. The recording used to be fine on Vista and on my old computer where I've always had XP installed. Not really sure what I should try to do now or where to start solving t... Read more

I need to record my mic/ and also system sounds like if i have someone on skype and i am screen recording, i need to be able to record there audio, my audio, while i am wearing headphones (dont want to disturb people at work), is there some kind of virtual mic that will do this, so i can shoose this "virtual mic" with my screen recorder program and pick up sounds to record from that. Sorry if that is super confusing lol. I could not find a solution to this on google.

Try this one ( Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Pro | H.264 Encoding | VC-1 Codec | Streaming Silverlight Video | IIS Smooth Streaming | Real Time Encoder | Microsoft® Expression® ). The free version does, however, have a 10 minute recording limit. If you need more time for the recordings, you'll need to buy the Pro edition ($199). But I would first try it out and check whether it does what you need.

I recently purchased a Lenovo G580 from Curry's. My main intention of use is to write and record music on some music recording software. This software hasn't arrived yet, so I was playing around with the Sound Recorder. When playing back the recording I get a weird noise, which I can only describe as sounding like it's being played underwater. It's like a wobbly, distorted noise.

I have tried using a third party sound recorder and have also used a different audio player and yet the problem persisits. Can anyone help me out with this?

Hi Renegade, welcome to Eight Forums!

When you're doing so, are you using the built in microphone? (I'm presuming it's a laptop, correct me if I'm wrong). If you are, it may very well be the microphone recording quality itself, try a new one maybe? That applies for headsets, microphones on their own and external recording devices.

Also, try in a VERY quiet room, play some music while recording (from an iPod or something) and see if the playback still has that sound overlay. If it does, then it's the microphone.

I recently recorded some songs on video at a concert on both an iPod nano and regular camera, and although the video came out fine, since we were standing so close, the mic must have been overloaded on both devices, and when they are played, they are just so muffled and distorted because the music there was SO LOUD. Is there any way, hopefully easy, to reduce the sound, and possibly recover some of the music so it at least partially listen to-able? Thanks!

    Hi there!

I am trying to record internet radio as it is streaming online (Itunes radio). I am using recording software: Audacity on my laptop, which is a Lenovo U450 ideapad. However each time I record, I am picking up the sound of the laptop microphone as well, i.e. I canít just record the sound of the streaming music; I record all the other sounds in the room as well! The same thing happens with the 'Sound Recorder' software on the laptop. I have tried changing some settings on audacity ie trying to use different microphone inputs. It gives me the option to use:

MME Microsoft Sound Mapper Ė Input
    MME Realtek High Definition
Windows Direct Sound Primary Capture Driver
Windows Direct Sound microphone (Realtek High Definition)

However all these currently pick up the laptop microphone ie my speaking as well as the music. I tried using an older version of Audacity but that didnít work. Do you have any ideas around it please? Maybe you can you tell me how to disable the main laptop microphone so it just picks up whatís playing? I used to be able to do this perfectly on my pc. Thank you very much for trying!

It's been around for a while, but if any of you haven't caught the most recent version which came out about 5 months ago, you'll be amazed. The program is Trillian, and while similar to other instant messenger programs, Trillian combines them. It has connections for IRC, AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo IM. Not to mention it has a clean interface, hogs little system memory, and has built in file transfer. It can also be set to slighlty transparent so that it doesn't get in the way of other programs and work. Excellant program, I highly reccomend. http://www.ceruleanstudios.com

Hi all. I am looking for antivirus software. I would really like a all-in-one program. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

A:Looking for a great antivirus program

    Hello,

All in one program doesn't exist, likewise there is no 100% protection. Best thing to do is to combine multiple programs.

As antivirus protection my personal recommendation is ESET. You can choose ESET Smart Security as total protection (firewall + banking protection) or ESET NOD32 antivirus that is also very good protection but without some additional components like firewall/parental control/banking protecton. It also offers a great protection. Choice is up to you.

    ESET Smart Security

If you are a bit paranoid and want a control of everything executable that can be downloaded to your computer, then I recommend Zemana AntiMalware with Pandora technology activated to work with ESET.

Zemana AntiMalware Premium - Block online threats before the infections take place.

In addition to this I would add MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit although I think ESET has this integrated, but two tools are better then one.

    Anti-Exploit Premium - Premium Zero-Day Exploit Protection

    Adblock

A:Oh Great, "program Cannot Be Unistalled" Message

The most common "fix" for this is to install the program again. Note any error messages that may crop up, then try uninstalling it. If that doesn't work, then you're in for a session of disk diving to weed out the stuff from the system.

I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7 Ultimate and it have proven to me over many tests that it can hold its own against all the rest. I'm not saying it is better or worse but I have felt more confident each day I use it.

Trust me when I say I have tested it to the maximum in trying to comprimise my HD by downloading the really bad stuff. Each time it has stopped whatever came from outside dead in its tracks. Told me in easy to understand terms what MSE was doing and what I had to do to help. Many times I had to reboot because the virus was in memory and or hiding on my HD and couldn't be deleted while Win7 was running.

I'm sure many of you will burn me at the stake for saying that I like MSE. Let it go. I'm not telling you to change. I'm just making a statement that I believe is true.

I'd like to hear from folks that have more knowledge than I about how MSE works differently and uses less overhead to do it.

We are taking 90 schoolkids on a trip to Catalina Island for three days and we want to upload photos every night for the families back home. Last year the person in charge did it with iphoto but the two of us doing it this year are PC people.

We need to be able to simply as possible load a folder of images (probably between 60-100 each night), batch resize them down so as to avoid a horribly long upload (the connection speed is a little slow on the island, we know from experience), and put them on a page. It doesn't have to be a web page per se; just a page where we can put a title, as in "Friday afternoon fun!" etc.

On my old Xp, using a cheapy microphone (plugged into sound card), I successfully overdubbed one guitar part onto another with no perceived loss in quality. I had a SB card and used "record what u hear" which I assumed took it directly from the card BEFORE it hit the speaker (i.e. it's recording the amalgam of any sound from the PC that hits that sound card at that instant).

On my W7 PC (integral soundcard), I have tried BOTH a webcam and a 3.5mm soundcard direct microphone.

So, I record 5 seconds of guitarplaying using either Sound Recorder OR my Logitech Webcam software (muting the video).

I then play that 5-seconds using WINDOWS EXPLORER preview and then record that again (adding NO other part). Using either webcam or the 3.5mm microphone, the second recording comes out horribly phase shifted (you almost can't tell its a guitar).

Any suggestions? I've tried all the combos I can think of. I have BOTH speakers and recording set to 192000-bit (i.e. they match).

Additionally, on my sound RECORDING tab, what is SPDIF? Is that akin to "what u hear"?

    A:Overdubbing - 2nd recording sounds "phase shifted"

My guess there's a signifcant latency in the sound card hardware, most likely because it's onboard audio and not a dedicated sound card.

Second, S/PDIF is a data link layer protocol and a set of physical layer specifications for carrying digital audio signals between devices and components over either optical or electrical cable. The name stands for Sony/Philips Digital Interconnect Format

Okay, so I use Recordpad version 4.18 for some recording work I do with my cousin, we chose the program because it writes the sound file as it's recording (We tried Audacity before which doesn't do that, it was a pain to work with), and it also has a setting that stops the current recording and makes a new one after a set time (2 hours in our case).

Now the only problem is there's about a 1.8 second delay between the recording stopping and the new one starting up, so if we're saying something at that point it'll get partially cut off. I don't know if this is because of recordpad or because of the computer, so I thought I'd ask.

Do any versions of recordpad have a more acceptable delay between recordings, or no delay. Or would anyone be able to recommend me a sound recorder that has the same feature with a better delay?

A:Need a sound recording program suggestion

I don't use that software (I have a recording studio using Sonar X3) but I would suspect the delay is the time between the program finalizing the first recording and initializing for the next recording period.

From what I see of the program it is probably the best for your situation, since you don't like Audacity. Other recording studio programs, such as my Sonar or any other will work the same as Audacity.

I have the ion usb turntable, but cannot hear the LP with my computer speakers. Instructions say I can record with audacity, but am unable to upload file into program.
    help!

A:not recording LP to computer w/ audacity program

It's very important to follow the audacity instructions from page 4 to page 8 thoroughly. Skip a procedure or do it out of sequence and you will have problems.

Here is the Audacity forum for some good info.

I'm trying to hook up my PS3 to my PC so I can record the gameplay. I also want to hook up my VCR so I can record some of my my tapes to the computer for safe keeping.

My comptuer came with S-video and Composite inputs, but it doesn't have a program to record off of them.

What's a good program for this?

There's a lot of good capture software out there, some of them free. I think the free version of Roxio has capture software. Check out http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/M...o_Capture.html

We want to start recording a short program that will go out over shortwave radio. We aren't sure what would be the best software to do this. We will need to be able to record and edit 2 different tracks. Then we will put the program onto a cd that will be sent to the station to then be put on the air. We only have the basic sound card that came with our Dell computer and realize we may need to upgrade it. If anyone can offer us advise on this we would really appreciate it.

I need a voice recording program that meets the following requirements:
    I want 16-bit voice recording
It must be capable of voice-activated recording.
It must be configurable so that if the computer is rebooted, it will open and run the voice recording program and start recording without user attendance.
I have one here called SoundForge; but, I can't configure it to start recording without user participation if the computer reboots. At least, if there is a way, I can't see it.

A:Need recommendations on voice recording program

Sound Forge might be able to do it with a script. I would go over to this website Sound Forge forum and see what they have to say: http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/forums

You need to supply more info... IE: Camera make and model, Operating system, Software you have... blah blah blah
