Missing drivers on Dell notebook

Q: Missing drivers on Dell notebook

I recently upgraded my mother's inspiron 1545 to win 7 x64.
Now, I see there are certain drivers missing - it doesn't recognize its' monitor, the cdrom is not listed, some function keys not working and I suppose there are more.
Is there a single tool that can scan the hardware and see which drivers are missing or do I have to locate them manually?
Where can I find a list of the hardware that's not compatible with the new OS?

Preferred Solution: Missing drivers on Dell notebook

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi: For the smbus and usb3 controllers, download and install the AMD Chipset drivers and restart the PC. You want the first file listed on the webpage. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064 Ethernet: This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. File name: sp71268.exe In order to provide the driver for the unknown device (there can be a few devices that show up as unknown), please post the hardware ID for the unknown device. To find the hardware ID, click on the Unknown Device in the device manager. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the unknown device window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Hi all

Its been about 2 week since I installed Windows 7.
I love the new OS but I am still missing some drivers!!!
I tried to contact Dell, and this was their answer:
"You need to download the Windows 7 drivers"
Like I dont know...
But there are still no Windows 7 drivers on the Studio 1535 driver download page.
This is the information Windows gives me:

Name: A base system device
Developer: unknown
Location: PCI-bus 3, device 1, function 3

Name: Unknow device
Developer: unknowm
Location: on Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller - 2815

I read something about Ricoh drivers or something like that, but I cannot find any solution... One of the missing drivers listed above is for the remote control (i think)
Because it doesnt respond to any button I push on it :P
Could somebody please help me!!

(is it possible that Windows 7 has trouble starting up because of the missing drivers?)

A:Dell E6420 Win10 missing drivers

Dell does not have any windows 10 drivers for your model. You are stuck with generic win 10 drivers from MS or the old Dell drivers. Try right clicking on the hardware in Device Manager and updating drivers, search online. It would be best to return to your previous windows version. Check Dell Support to see the disclaimer--

Two weeks ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 3552 (Service Tag<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) with Ubuntu 14.04 SP1. It was a gift for my mother. She was not comfortable with using Ubuntu so I installed Windows 7 Professional (x64). The problems started immediately. Network controllers drivers were missing, universal serial bus (usb) controller were missing. I tried to install all drivers recommended by Dell Product Support but they there not right for me. For example: wireless card is DW 1801 Card 802.11gbn + BT 4.0, yet the Dell Support suggests drivers for 1707 which fails to install. I found the drivers for 1801 and was able to install them, but so far these things are not working on the laptop:
Universal serial bus (usb) controllerWebcamI suspect it is because I am still missing some drivers, probably motherboard or chipset. Could you provide me the links to them?

A:Dell Inspiron 15 3552 - missing drivers

Here is a link to the driver download page for the Inspiron 3552.  it defaulted to Windows 7 64-bit for me but make sure it does the same for you.   Here is a link to the Intel Chipset Driver that goes with the Inspiron 3552 and Windows.  I think that is the driver most likely causing the problems you're seeing.
Here is a link showing which drivers to install and in which order.  Check that article out and see if it helps. Not sure why the support pages / utilities are suggesting the wrong drivers but you may want to simply install them manually, in the order that article recommends.
For the Dell Webcam Central software, because it's licensed you actually have to log into your Dell.com account to access / download it.  Here is a support article on the Dell Webcam Central software application that explains the entire process.
Let me know if this helps.

So a few weeks ago I was running on Vista and everything crashed completely. After a lot of thinking about it, I decided it was time to change over to Windows 7 Home Premium. But a few days after a clean and easy install, my laptop switched itself off completely, I think because my fans aren't particularly on form atm. Switching it back on I received this message:

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE - M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM.
Operating System not found.

So I decided to see if I could reload Windows 7 with the disk, but after confirming my details and accepting the agreement I received an error message saying:

No drivers were found! Please browse to locate a driver!

With no options of making a new one and no evidence of my C or E drive, I got fed up I took the disk out and gave it another switch on (in hope) and voila! It worked again! Only to switch off and take me back to square one, receiving the same errors as before.
Though now, when I try to boot from the CD, I reach the loading stage of Windows 7 I occasionally also receive a blue screen which informs me of a fatal error and forces me to restart the entire thing again.

The laptop itself is about 3 years old and hasn't had many problems (other than the overheating) until now. I'm not fussed about saving work/pictures/etc, I have them all on ... Read more

I would suggest you to first restore the system BIOS to factory defaults and after that try running Hardware Diagnostics on your computer. In order to run Dell Diagnostics from Hard Drive, follow the below mentioned steps:Restart your computer.
When the DELL? logo appears, tap <F12> immediately.
In the boot device list, highlight Boot to Utility Partition and press <Enter>.
Under Dell Diagnostics Main Menu (see Dell Diagnostics Main Menu), select the extended test. If you get any error code, make a note of the error code.
If Dell Diagnostics passes, then again try reinstalling Windows 7 and please make sure to check that there are no scratches on the OS disc.

The first place to look for drivers for your Dell is at the Dell support website located here: http://support.dell.com/support/down...=us&l=en&s=gen The Base Devices are the Ricoh card reader drivers.

I have an Inspiron 5759 running Windows 10, 1709 update.
For some time, I have had problems with Event 1035 - Windows Installer has reconfigured ... for almost all applications on my system when I enable all Dell support services.  I have documented this in a separate post and I hope to be able to safely re-enable all the services eventually.  For now, I leave some of the Dell services disabled.
In any event, when I DO enable ALL Dell services, Dell Update tells me my system is uptodate yet SupportAssist tells me that I am missing 4 updates: Video, BIOS, Chipset, and Network.  The support site for my service tag indeed reflects 4 updates which I do not have.  If I tell SupportAssist to install the updates, it marks them queued but does nothing.
I find Dell's attempts to fully automate all installation support laudable but the complexity and fragility of the underlying PC Doctor software may be an impediment which confuses things.
I wish I could reduce all my Dell installations to periodic invocations of SupportAssist by itself with ideally no more than one support service.  Alternately, it would be good if the Dell Command | Update would support the Inspiron models as well as the business models e.g. Latitude.
In the meantime, any insights for rectifying the automated installations would be appreciated.  My inclination is to resort to manual installations with periodic manual checks for updates on the support site.

After updating my wife's old Dell E4300 with the new Windows 10 creators update, two drivers are shown as missing in the Device Manager. There are:

Device description: Broadcom USHDevice instance path: USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5800&MI_00\6&66DE6C9&0&0000
No search for the drivers gave any result. The laptop is working though. With the above information I am unable to find matching drivers, even via the Dell support site (using the Service Tag: BNXXB4J). There is no clear way of mapping the reported missing drivers with anything on the Dell support site, or at least I was unable to do so.

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

S"hould you", that is up to you, but the Intel drivers are the best for your computer. If you decide to change your drivers, start with a system restore point.

Hello to all,   I recently did a clean reinstall of Windows XP (Home) on my Dell Dimension 2350. All went fine. Now I need to install the correct drivers. I have the Dell Resource disc and this is where the problem starts.    As noted elsewhere, after the reinstall the screen display of the Resource disc is as it would be in "Safe Mode". I was aware of this. As such, the Resource disc Search Criteria screen was a bit larger than the monitor screen. I was able to size it to fit the screen but this is really not the problem it is the following: The Search Criteria options I have from the drop down menus (on screen) are as follows:System Model:   All, Dimension C521, DXC061, Dimension DXP0G1, Dimension E521, DM061, XPS710    (Which, if any, do I pick?)Operating System: (I think I got this one)   All, Windows XPTopic:   (Maybe this one too)   All, Applications, Dell Diagnostics, Diagnostics, Drivers, Utilities   For the life of me I cannot figure out the exact drivers I am to install*. Windows XP only appears in the Operating System menu. I pretty much know the install order but as I said, I'm a bit confused about selecting the correct drivers from the disc. Other searches have confused me further and have provided no specific answer to this problem.&nbs... Read more

A:Installing drivers after Windows XP reinstall on Dell Dimension 2350 using Dell Resource disc

You need, in installation order:

Chipset driver
Video driver (depends on which video card)
Audio driver
Network driver (depends on which you have)
Modem driver, if you use a dialup modem

Go to the Support page and put in your Service Tag. It should give you the drivers you need. You can download them on any PC and copy onto a USB stick for installation on the 2350.
You only need the applications, if you actually use them (eg, Roxio, Jasc Paintshop, etc).
Then install your antiviral software and get online to the Microsoft Update site for all the patches and updates.
Keep in mind that XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and they stopped releasing security fixes for XP and IE9, more than 1 year ago. So they're both full of security holes and put your personal data at risk.

I have an Acer Aspire 5720. It is not listed on Acer's website as compatible with Win 7, however many other models with the same specs are. I have been able to find drivers for most of the hardware. The only ones I cannot locate are a Windows 7 x64 driver for both the Alps Touchpad and the Bison Crystal Eye webcam. I am an adventurous one, and have a solid backup, so I am going to try it anyway. I was just looking for any assistance in locating those two drivers.

I cant find the specific laptop's model so i can download the exact drivers and install them pls help :/ ther eis no number at the back or at the back of the battery)

A:Help with Notebook Drivers

I would give this one a try,

Atheros Wireless LAN Driver - HP Pavilion g6-2210us Notebook PC | HP? Support

I had a quick look at a few of the different G6 models,

HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC series

and they all used the Atheros driver. If that one works I would then go here,

Automatically Find HP Updates | HP Support

and use HP's auto updater to get the rest.

A:Dell Precision M6400 Win7 64 bit Dell Webcam Central Software Missing

Hi hdpartman,
If the webcam is not working, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam drivers.
To uninstall the Dell webcam central software, perform the following steps:

Click Start.
Click Control Panel.
Using the drop-down menu next to View by: in the upper-right corner, select Large Icons.
Click Programs and Features.
Click Dell Webcam Central.
Click Uninstall.
Confirm the uninstall process by clicking OK.
Once uninstalled restart the computer.

I have provided a link below to reinstall the webcam drivers.
Awaiting your response!

I am constantly having this problem with my laptop. As I plug in and unplug my headphones throughout the day, I've noticed that after a couple times the bass gets really quiet and almost completely drops out. Since I have some pretty decent audiophile headphones with really great bass, it is super annoying and noticeable.
One workaround I have discovered is to go to the audio settings (either in Windows or the Dell Audio app), and switch the Default Format (the thing with 24-bit, 48000Hz in it)  to something else, play some audio, then switch it back.
A little word on my setup: I have the latest drivers from the Dell download page installed. I am running Windows 10 64-bit with all the updates. I have Waves Maxx audio "enhancements" disabled. My Default Format is usually set to 24-bit 48000Hz, but the problem eventually happens no matter what I set it to. The "headphone size" option is set to "Medium", but as far as I can tell this option does nothing if I do not have Waves Maxx enabled. Switching it also does not fix the problem.
If I play audio using WASAPI (this basically means that the music player takes over the sound card completely, and bypasses whatever audio processing Windows and the driver has) the problem does not happen.
How do I fix this problem? It's incredibly annoying, and most likely has something to do with the audio driver, since this does not happen in Linux, and it did not happen when I was runn... Read more

Hello to everybody:

I have this notebook (LG P310 Tarsia), and I?ve installed W7 Ultimate x64. Everything works perfectly, but there are some drivers that Windows Update doesn?t recognize and doesn?t install, so I have to use Vista drivers or look for them in web pages. These are the drivers:

Turbo Intel Memory
Nvidia GForce 9600m GT
Intel Chipset
Realtek HD

1) Is this normal?
2) I?ve found Nvidia and Turbo Memory at their web pages, but not the others. Anybody knows where can I found them?

Thank you in advance and best regards,
