*Mod/Admin plz move if this is the wrng thread,i just dont know where to post this prob cause i dont know what it is ,,, also, i saw a post about this, yet the solutions did not fix my problem

Hey guys well i need some tech help. I just built my comp and i have ran across some HDD or MOBO or connection problems. Here is what is in my box
HD 250G|ST 7K 16M SATA2 ST3250410AS

Intel Mobo Media Series DG33TL

So..... i conected all my hardware made sure all connections and power was good then turned the comp on and inserted Windows XP disk. The screen fired up, saw my INtel logo, went into bios all good, and then the DVD drive started to spin and read my disk. The blue Xp screen cam up were is loads all the drivers and says press F6 to load 3rd party driver'/raid driver and then started to load all the other drivers, as it was ABOUT to install, the blue screen pops up with this error code "0x0000007B (OxF8968640, 0xC0000034, 0X00000000, 0x00000000)" see picture .......

Restarted my comp and same thing happened, restarted again and went into my bios and looked under my SATA detection and both my HDD and DVD driver were detected. I also tried changing the power cords and the SATA cords to different spots on the mobo and same error message.................I am lost plz help ..................thanks ))))))))))))))

Preferred Solution: Need Tech Help, New Comp - HDD/MOBO prob, maybe?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey all,

I'm using L7VMM3 with an on board CPU. (yer i was tricked 2 years ago

as topic states, my PC simply won't turn on.

I push the buttons, I see fans spinning... and nothing... I looked into forums and tried these things:
- checked if the ram is located correctly
- switched ram
- cleaned dust
- unscrewed the mobo and isolated it from the box
- cleared the CMOS
- took the battery out, and back in (maybe back in upside down? )
- took all slots out including the GF4 and now trying to work on the onboard vga
- called 911 ( ok no...)
- changed the PSU - (oh i forgot to say that my PSU died and then I tried 2 different PSU's! that didnt work)

how can I check psu details maybe that's the reason (tho i doubt it, the other psu's work on other PCs at my home)

I've dealt with this. The problem is the phone connection. The Operating System can do anything, it's getting the data on the phone line in order to send it to the recipient. Is your computer connected to a phone line? If not, there are online, internet to phone/FAX services available.

I used AVG Free until a few days ago when I purchased AVG 7.5, so that I could use its firewall rather than have to continue having another program (ZoneAlarm) taking up room on my computer. (FYI, yes, I am planning to update to Windows XP, which I understand to have its own firewall soon----currently I have Windows 98SE.)
My problem is that something keeps turning the AVG 7.5 firewall off. It seems to be the same thing each time, denoted as a Filter Device going Out, with a local Address as to Remote Address, according to the AVG Firewall Log. (sometimes the last numbers in each sequence is 138, but most times it is 137.)
I have scanned my computer with Spybot S & D and AVG 7.5, removing several tracking cookies and Downloader.exe's that hadn't been removed before with either of them.
I have downloaded HiJackThis and include the resulting file from scanning my system. Perhaps someone can clue me in to what might be stopping my AVG Firewall?
If you need more info, just ask.....thanks so much for your help.

BTW, I noticed in another posting here that someone was told that AVG 7.5 is only for Windows 2000 and XP; however, it notes here http://www3.grisoft.com/doc/products...g/us/tpl/tpl01 that it is also for 98, as well as ME and NT. Just a 'heads up' there that I wanted to add, before someone got back to me. Thanks!

K here is my prob just had a computer melt down (bought new just under 2yrs old) took it in to local computer shop and they said mother board, proc, ram were all bad (due to power surge of some kind). so i bought all new parts and droped them off. Next day they told me my hard drive was bad aswell and they tested the power supply and tested fine but thought that could have spiked and caused all the prob so advised me to replace aswell. So then bought new hard drive and power supp and gave to them. Next they call me up and say they grounded the power supply when putting it in and it burned out the new hard drive but will replace it for free and tested everything else (including the new power supp and said it tested fine). Now my question is them doing this... could it cause me a prob down the road even though all the new parts tested fine now? I'm not a comp tech type guy and just worried bout my investment (parts alone have run me 1500$ and hate to lose it) Looking for any advice I can get. Thanks

Does it do this during any other games, or just Half-life? Obviously Half-life being the modded game for these ones

if it's only doing it in Half life, check your video mode in Half life to make sure you're using OpenGL, it defaults to software or hardware acceleration, and that's no fun for anyone.

And I hear continual Beeps... And NO monitor signal...

I looked it up, and Suposably it is a ram problem...

I have 2 512mb sticks of Mushkin DDR Ram...

So I simply took one stick out, and fired up again... Now, No BEEPING and still, no signal... What is the problem? How can I eliminate possibilities, and find a solution?

Also said failed post and to contact dell. (not under warranty)I tried a different harddrive and it got as far as the progress bar before loading xp,but then froze, and after a few went back to "hit ctrl alt, del" to restart etc.Could this be a problem with the BIOS? and is that replaceable in a dell? or more serious than that?mobo maybe?(ive never replaced BIOS before,so forgive my ignorance)

>>>> The prob started after i had to unplug the Xbox from the Router - now we can no longer connect all 3 items at the same time, not even just 2 of them. It has to be one at a time or none at all.

Does any one know what might be causing the problem? Does the 2 comps and the xbox all need be on a different ip addresses? Please HELP me for Xbox Support nor Linksys Support seems to know what might be going on. Verizon (my DSL server) did mention that it seemed as though the Xbox
"might be" stealing all the bandwith - not for sure!!!!!

I await any and all HELP..... my family needs its 3 way connection back - it is killing mom - lol.

A:Networking Game/Comp Prob!

Yes, all three devices need to have unique IP addresses. Is DHCP turned on in the router?

You could always connect each device to the router and check their IP addresses. I'm not sure how to check the IP address of an Xbox but it can't be that hard.

You could alway download this to one of your PCs and install it. Do a scan of the IP range that the Linksys is ginving out (when each device is connected to the router).

It's possible that the Xbox is set to BOOTP or something else and has aquired an IP address and doesn't want to release it. If it's keeping an IP address and the router doesn't know about it the router will try to give out the same IP address which would cause problems for you.

This might come in handy as well.

I have had DSL for about 5 months now and all was working fine on my home networking until about 4 weeks ago - When we had to unplug the Xbox connection to the Router in order to rearrange the living room to put up our Christmas tree.
Now we cannot be on Xbox live and the Internet without the Comp losing connection to the online game site we are on. I have called Verizon and they say that all is well on the DSL/Phone line.
Our home networking consist of 2 Comp (both online) and one Xbox Live..... we use to be able to use all 3 at the same time, with little to no probs other than a small bit of lag from time to time.

Please HELP!!!!! I need my online GAMES as much as my son wants his Halo2.

I recently purchased an 8500 GT (EVGA, nvidia) and already had an ECS Mobo (PT890T-A) with a PCI-e slot. After installing the card, I have to boot twice to see any picture. If I don't reboot, the monitor appears to not be recieving a signal. I know it isn't a monitor problem because I have tried several kinds including CRT. So after I reboot, the card is fine and works flawlessly. I have tried two cards, both of the same type (8500 GT). They were both brand new, and I dont think the problem is with them.
I have installed all of the drivers needed, and the card is seated firmly. I am thinking that it is a compatability issue between the mobo and the card??
So, if the problem was with my PCI-e card, why would it work upon reboot?
So far I have: installed the drivers, seated the card several times, changed the BIOS primary graphics card to "PCI-e", and tried several cards.
Thank you for any help anyone can offer.
Oh, and if I cant figure this out, is it safe for the system if I simply press the restart button when the computer first starts to boot (BIOS loads, etc.) before windows loads?

Hi there.

My laptop screen keeps going blank recently. At first it seemed to be randomly going blank but it's now going blank less than a minute after loading Windows. When the screen goes blank, the laptop would not respond to any input at all (both from the keyboard and mouse). Even an attempt to eject the DVD ROM tray gives no response.

I don't think this is due to a problem with my Windows as sometimes, the laptop couldn't even do a POST test, due to the screen blank problem. The power LED is on, and hence, I don't think there's any problem with my power supply. I've tried booting into Ubuntu (Live CD), but still encounter the same problem.

One of my colleague says it's the VGA/graphic chipset problem perhaps. Anyone can help me with this? What's the actual problem with my laptop?

I just received a computer today that was complained about for having numerous blue screens. After i had plugged it in i noticed no power lights at all, so i tried replacing the cord, etc. I ended up trying a different PSU, it turned on, the cpu fan spun up and a red light came on, on the mobo, however no video. I tried putting in an agp video card but still no video, no post beeps no nothing. After reading similar posts within your forum all I can reason is that the PSU went up and took the mobo with it. If you think this is the case I also heard that the motherboard in the t2200 was discontinued so im wondering what would be a good replacement. I have a legitimate copy of Windows XP home (not OEM) and a key so it doesn't need to be the exact same board. Any ideas?:approve: Thanks

Hi, I have been having a problem with my PC, I have built it myself and everything was properly installed. However I am having issues with blue screen restarts and hardware failure. So far I have lost 1 motherboard 1 of the sticks of ram went bad and all were replaced. Also 1 sata harddrive and 1 sata SSD have failed. I have since replaced all those parts and am still getting blue screens that restart my computer. These blue screens happen at random times and I am unsure what to do. my specifications are as follows.
windows 7 home premium 64bit
16 gigs kingston hyper X DDR 3
AMD FX 6100 6 core at 3.3 ghz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 SE

Well, I probably look at your power supply since you have not replaced that. It could be providing dirty power causing the other components to fail.

I consider myself very tech savvy but this issue has me stumped. I had an MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard, Phenom black edition processor, 630 watt power supply. One day, it decided to die on me. It shut down and never came back up. If I unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in the fan would give a short sign of life then nothing.
The moboard light (green) would come on but other than that there was no sign of power. I was not sure if the issue was motherboard or power supply so I went to Frys and bought a new mobo and PSU. Came home, got everything hooked up, installed Windows 7, and everything seemed fine. Power was on, comp was booting. I started installing my previous software with no issue. Then, as I was reading something online the comp shut down. No power, same sign of life as before minus the green light since there isn't one on the MSI K9A2 CF board I bought. The fan give a quick partial spin then nothing. Both PSU and board are brand new. I have tried removing my video cards, ram, drives, etc just to see if one of them was the issue. No luck. Now I'm sitting here with a very expensive paper weight not knowing why it won't power up.
I hope someone out there has an answer.
Peace to you all.

hey i recently given a new mobo (a7v 133 -c) froma friend he also gave me a themal take 7 and a new psu, ok i stalled all of it into my case and changed everything etc. When bios first boots it tells me only one hdd is connected rrrrrr i recconect ide cables/power etc. get both drives working YAY! then when i power on it goes staight into bios and tell me there was something wrong with the cpu or sdram timings/settings i mess around with that change sum stuff (sorry i can be more specific ) Then i boots into windows and it gives me a blue screeen error telling me to remove the newly installed hard drive or scsi drive . Then i put in cd rw. It still says something wrong with the cpu or sdram timings/settings i mess around again ,make it display cpu fna speed and other options related to cpu i also underclcok it to 1110 mhz or sumthing arounf that field which was one of the selectable options. Ok now for the big kahuna when i boot it turns on all fans/hardware etc working beeps then turns off the greeen led is still working though. I have gf2 300 wat psu amd xp 1700 512 meg sd ram errr liteon 48x12x48 cdrw seagate barracude 4 60 gig quatum fireball 2 gig. Thanks for the help in advance.

Ohh i took out all the ram and it kept running and made that continual beep code so i tried some other ram sticks (3) and still same old trun off stuff. Shoudl i try and change the dip switches or sumthing. Thanks in advance.

Some things to check out, if this is your board......

It looks like it won't handle your XP 1700 without an updated bios. I would check your bios version to be sure.

i have 3 processors!i am a bit stuck on which processor would be my best bet to build a good gaming computer with, they might be old but i reckon i could use one of them as i need to watch my pennys!il start with the newest to the oldest.i have no mobo's and need some advice on a good mobo and some good hardware,as i have 2 40gb hard drives and an old phillips cd/dvd burner!should i buy local in ireland or does it matter?does anyone know of some really good websites that sell comp parts.

1. intel Pentium 4 531 SL8HZ MALAY 3.00GHZ/1M/800/04A
2.Intel Pentium 4 2.80 GHZ/1M/800/04A SL7PR MALAY
3.Intel Pentium 4 2001,2.66ghz/512/533,sl6pe china

I think its between 1 and 2 and i think 1 would be the strongest and fastest but i need some advice!thanks alot!

A:Which processor and mobo for gaming comp?

Its likely the first one, as has the highest clock speed. However, none of them are really going to be very useful for gaming on all the very oldest of games.

Some more information is required on the sorts of games you wish to play before even spending some money, as what your hoping for might not be possible for the budget you have in mind.

Buying in Ireland, or online is fine.

Well my computer doesn't turn on anymore. It was working fine and then the power cord of the surge got unplugged from the outlet. Needless to say the comp wont turn on anymore. I was wondering if its the psu or the mobo that has messed up. When I plug in the comp the steady power light turns on, on the mobo which i assume it means it receiving some type of power. But when I press the power button the led lights of comp flash on and then turn back off. So does anybody know if its the psu or the mobo that is damaged?

A:Comp Wont Turn ON is it the PSU or the Mobo

Probably Power Supply (hard to say really)

Just for a quick option:

Remove the power cord
Hold the On button in for 30 secs (releasing all internal voltage)
Put the power cord back in (securely)
Turn on (I hope)

hi, new user, i came here with the direst need. for months my new system worked like a dream, but suddenly it stopped working. at first it was giving me a beep code that meant the ram was bad-or not present- but i put it in another board and it worked fine. then i discovered my board has some problems with certain brands of ram operating at 800mhz, so i clocked it back to 667 and it worked fine for a few days. now, it boots up to windows, gets a few minutes in, and then freezes or restarts (it just restarts, i can hear the drives spinning up, but i get no display). the temp is high, but well within limits (around 40 at boot, rising to 50 at windows), ive done everything i know to do. i suspected at first it was the mobo, but now im suspicious of the power supply. please help! im at wits end here !!

A:Help! comp stopped working, suspect its mobo

Post your system specs. Some brands of motherboards just wont work with certain brands of RAM.

After apparently one of my motherboards decided to stop working I decided to upgrade my computer, and finally learn how to build one myself.

A bit of backstory on this:
Since I have warranty on the old motherboard, they took it in order to test it but they have not managed to test it yet. Basically over the course of the week before it died I kept having more and more hangs and missed POSTs, and eventually it stopped POSTing every time. Either way once we opened it up we found one of the little fans (probably the southbridge cooler, I'm not sure) stopped working. The keyboard also was not receiving power, but the motherboard LED would power on. (OTT the motherboard was an A8N-SLI)

Now, I bought a e8400, 2X1gigs of 667mhz patriot ram, and a P5KPL-CM motherboard. I specifically wanted a microATX board since I probably will buy a LANbox later on.

Now this is the first time I'm putting something together, but I've done a LOT of reading up on this subject and used the utmost care when putting it together.

While I was putting it together I realized that one of the screwholes on the motherboard did not have a corresponding spacer hole under it. I decided to leave it without a screw, thinking it is unimportant.

The LG775 cooler was kind of hard to push in though, I was worried I might crack the board pressing it down!

Now once everything was put together I plugged it in, pressed the power button, and heard a small chirp. Oh dear.

A:Upgraded comp will not start. Mobo LED lights up.

IF the cpu heatsink is not properly attached boot failure is likely (actually, it is the Intel CPU thermal protection shutdown action that is happening).

You Asus manual shows the precise holes to use for the stand-offs.

My sons comp quit on him last week and i have no idea what is wrong. it will show his vid card info and his mobo info and that is it. I tried re-installing the win 7 os, but nothing happens. i think maybe the cd rom is bad, but shouldnt it boot up anyway? i dont know if or how to boot from a usb drive. Could that be a way around the problem, or does it sound like maybe the hdd is bad? Any help will be appreciated. thanx

A:Comp shows vid card and mobo info then nothing

Hi watcher 6342,

You say you tried to reinstall Windows, did the machine boot that far? or did it just go as far as the first Motherboard and Graphic card screen?

If the latter, then the machine is failing the POST (Power On Self Test) this means that you have some faulty hardware somewhere.

First and foremost, you have already identified the CD drive as possibly bad. If it is causing a problem then the machine may well refuse to POST because the SATA controller cannot initialise properly. It seems to me, (and I admit I don't have a massive amount of knowledge in this area, beyond what I have just said) that the first course of action would be to try unplugging the CD drive from the SATA port.

I just replaced my old board, processor, and memory in my backup comp with an MSI K8T Neo-V board, AMD Athlon 3800, and 1gb memory. I got it all set up, and powered it on, but the fans kicked for a sec, and the power LED flashed on, but went off almost instantly. I re-seated everything, and unplugged all unnecessary devices (HDD's, etc), and it still did the same thing. I'm thinking it might be power supply, but it worked immediately before the upgrade. Any thoughts?

Please Help!

I just built a AMD 64 X2 5600 with an Asus m2n-e mobo and 2 gigs patriot ram and a Geforce 8600gt vid card with a 320 gig maxtor hard drive. The computer started upfine the first time and I was able to use it without a problem. A few days later when I turned it on I noticed a slightly wierd noise that was like a ticking sound but not very loud. I thought a fan was catching a wire but when I took it apart I found nothing. So I let it continue to run and after playing a game for 4 hours it just died. The comp completly shut off as if the power had gone out. I turned the power on again and it started up fine so I continued to play for awhile. The next day it randomly died again after playing COD4 for maybe 30 minutes and then it would not turn back on. The mobo green light is on signaling power but nothing will turn on. I have 120mm fan running to the mobo and it will not start nor the CPU fan. However, the 80mm fan I ran straight to the power supply and that still turns on, so I don't think the power supply is bad.

Any suggestion or comments would be greatly appreciated!

note: I did buy the Asus m2ne as a refurbished mobo so I am thinking that maybe it is a bad one and I should just return it but I wanted to see what you guys think first.

Sorry so long Im new to working on computers/adding components ect.

specs of original comp

AsRock 4S55FX mobo 478
512 mb ddr ram
128mb ati 9800 vid card

Purchased computer roughly one year ago, custom made

These are the symptoms I was having before in order of occurrence.

1: Loud cackling/beeping noises would come from my speakers, even if I turned them off, during the noise my computer would lag a bit, mouse would move slowly ect for the 3-5 seconds of noise, it would go away and things would be fine.

2:Computer started having problems shutting down and rebooting, I thought it was the moinitor but tried 2 others to find that the system wasnt rebooting properly. Would take 2-3 resets to boot up, sometimes Windows would freeze at the XP screen. Rarely though. I left my computer on for spans of 2 days to get around the booting problem.

3:Started to encounter freezes while playing an online game, rarely, which then started occuring more often just while browsing the internet. Started taking more resets to eventually boot. No Beeps at all while booting, ran a virus scan ect. Saw in device manager that a RAID controller device had a ? next to it and i remember seeing that a couplemonths ago and ignoring it, well i got the drivers off the mobo disk and installed them for the RAID and still booting issue was same.

Talked to some friends online and all said it was probly the mobo, due to freezes and no beeps at boot.

I recently tried to install a wireless network at work due to tech guys playing games after being hired. SO i install on PC, it locks up and crashes, causing me 2 days of headaches tracking down and installing/repairing windows. I get it going and the tech guys come and install the wireless cards around office.
Then they get to this PC, and does same thing did with me locks up but doesnt crash for them. Its a custom built PC by the way, they play with it a good hour and a half,
then say that I have to deal with it and suggested I first reinstall windows with the PCI reciever thing in, and then try and track down drivers for the mobo.

Anyone ever had an issue like this?its running XP Pro,

A:Drivers wont install, tech guy says MOBO drivers bad

Can you get it going any way at all - preferably in Safe Mode? If it fires up, hit Fuinction 8 and select the option to disable automatic restart on system failure. That should leave a blue screen error message on for long enough to read it. If you can go all the way to Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking, see what the Event Viewer has to say in Control Panel>Administrative Tools.

I am a Laptop Technician in Canada, and well to e honest I am really tired of junking so many motherboards because something has gone wrong on them. So I have decided to learn how to track down what on the board is blown, and replace it.

Can anyone you point me to where I can get board schematics and tech manuals for various laptops? And possible some sites with nicely documented details on the process of tracing down the short or whatnot?

Thank you,

A:Laptop Tech needing Tech Manuals

You should be able to get the manuals online at the manufacturers site.
