Downloads Work Offline But Once Website Is Live they Dont Work

Q: Downloads Work Offline But Once Website Is Live they Dont Work

I have recently built a new website, i tried all links and they worked fine before making it live on Filezilla.

I was wondering if anyone knows the reason for it or even better the fix for the solution.

The files are DWG. which is a version of CAD. PDF's, Jpegs, ect. all work except DWG's.

Preferred Solution: Downloads Work Offline But Once Website Is Live they Dont Work

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have saved the website http://www.j-archive.com/listseasons.php onto my computer so I can view it offline (I do not have internet access except for when I am at the library). However, the webpage search engine (right next to the help bar on the top of the screen) does not work offline. Is there a way to save the webpage and have the in website search engine still work?

Thank you very much.

Just recently after updating firefox, my downloads dont work. For exmaple if I download something the download window will open and download the item, then we its complete I double click to execute the file but nothing comes up. I then right click the download and i notice that the open and open file location buttons are greyed out. I go the file location manually and the file is not there. I read something similar about this on google and they believe the download.rdf file could be corrupted and the way to fix it is to simlpy delete it and then next time you boot firefox it creates a new one automatically. Well I went into my app data and couldnt even find a download.rdf file! I tried uninstalling then reinstalling firefox but it hasnt fixed the problem. Please help.

A:Firefox Downloads Dont Work

The .rdf file is not in the application folder, and reinstalling Firefox will not fix the problem; for that matter, doing that will rarely fix any problems, as they are most often found in the Firefox profile, not in the FF application folder.

the computer is about slower than usual(logging on took a long time, start menu freezes up a bit, search doesn't work);
to me it seems like a number of files and folders where moved or deleted (like in program files or something).
could this be a virus, or just a buggy or incompatible software(I just installed Miro)?

I use internet explorer 11 and Windows Live Mail 2011.

In Windows Live Mail the program is continually stuck on "Work Offline".

When I press the Work off line globe the red cross remains and nothing happens .

I opened Internet explorer 11 to see if this program was working off line only to find that this feature is missing from the file menu .

I am therefore unable to receive or send emails

Please advise

Hey I'm new to this forum. I'm REALLY hoping I can get this issue worked out. I'll try to go into as much detail as I can, because two Comcast Live Chat's have been completely useless, as to solving my problem.

Over the past few months, I've completely lost the ability to download files from certain websites. It's common now, where I'll have one of my buddies refer me to a site to download something, but when I do, the download fails (more detail later). I just have to say: well, this is one of those websites that I can't download from. The sites work fine from other locations. (Not here at this computer, using this internet connection).

I've prepared a list of websites I can remember off the top of my head, that I cannot download anything from.
This problem occurs with Internet Explorer, FireFox, and Opera, which are the only three different web browsers I've tried.

I've tried completely disabling my firewall. I continue to get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". With FireFox, the file I download will either be completely empty, it'll send me to an empty parent directory, OR it'll tell me it cannot connect to the server.

A:Solved: Specific Website Downloads Do Not Work

Yes! Fixed my problem. It was the firewall that is built into windows that was somehow blocking these sites and throttling my downloads.

I have a network drive, which I set up to save a copy of a folder for offline use using the instructions here:
Working with network files when you are offline - Windows Help

I am not able to find any option for setting the drive to work online or work offline. I did manage to set it up to work offline yesterday, but forgot how. Now, I cannot find any work online or work offline button. Is it in a different place in 10?

A:work offline / work online button with network location

Reading the net, it appears that this is a pretty buggy implementation of working with network files offline. I was able to effectively use the offline files feature on another win10 machine. When I unplugged the ethernet cable, I could work with the offline files, and then when I plugged it back in, the computer went online and I synced the files. Back on the original machine, I turned off the 'enable offline files' option, rebooted, turned on the 'enable offline files' button, and rebooted. After this, the machine was still working offline. It said that the user had chosen to work offline (which was true at an earlier point). But there is no option anywhere to work online.

I followed the instructions to reinitialize the offline files cache as described here: How To Reinitialize The Offline Cache in Windows 7 . I found it elsewhere, and the general instructions are repeated on the internet in various places. This enabled the laptop to use the cached files online again. However, I still cannot manually get into and out of the 'work offline' mode. If anybody has any ideas, I would be grateful. If there is a registry value that would put things into and out of the 'work offline' mode, I could at least write a batch file to do this.

My real problem is that I have offline files enabled.
When I connect to the office with high bandwith VPN, I can sync all files, but when I connect through slower (HSPDA/UMTS) mobile connection, I just cannot make to sync files, thus I cannot see non-sync folders in my domain.
In many artcles like this:
I can read that there has to be a Work Online button somewhere in the Explorer in Windows 7:
"Now, with Microsoft’s Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, there is a button right in the Explorer tool bar called “Work Offline ” that automatically forces the transition to offline mode.When you click
that button again, it changes from “Work Offline ” to “Work Online ” so that you can force the transition back."
Q1: Where is that? I just cannot see it anywhere.
Q2: Is there a good way to enable sync on slower mobile connection, too?
Q3: XP used to be set up to ask if I want to sync files if VPN was connected. How can I do the same with Win 7 (Ultimate)?
PS. our server is Win 2008 R2.
Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't like turning the computer on and off all the time. On the other hand, it makes me very nervous to leave it just sitting there running because some nefarious person could be using my resources to do something evil. When I try to log on to the internet (I am using Internet Explorer 5.0) a pop-up screen comes up requiring me to click one of two buttons: "Work Offline" and "Try Again". When I click the "Try Again" button the browser then goes online and brings up the designated web page per the browser setting.

I started getting this pop-up screen after I deleted the cookies from my cookie file, I believe.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this annoying pop-up so that my browser brings up the usual web site without this intermediary step?

Hi bap0620

You might first want to run some malware scans in both normal & Safe Mode, since the value for "Work Offline" is supposed to stay at whatever you last set it to. If you uncheck it, it's supposed to stay that way.

Try a little cleanup in IE as well -- in the "Advanced" tab of the Control Panel's "Internet Options", go to the "Security" section, and place a check next to "Empty Temporary Internet Files when browser is closed". Then, from the "General" tab, clean up thing manually: click on "Empty Temporary Internet Files", and clear the History as well. If you find your browser going to strange search sites that you haven't asked for, you may have been hijacked & will need to do the 5-step removal http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=15968 -- but that's getting a bit ahead of your current issue.

On the desktop computer, can we assume you have the firewall, antivirus, & antispyware programs installed & running? And the Security Patches from Windows Update are set to download automatically? [Try visiting Windows Update, just in case you recently grabbed a buggy patch - sometimes Microsoft will have another update to "patch the patch"] .

You can also try this utility ---

You could probably start with Windows Update & cleaning out your IE temp files -- and if that doesn't do it -- then try the IEfix han... Read more

You can use a software to download whole site to your hard disk like this : http://www.httrack.com/Please note that doing this increases data transfer load on the web server of that site and this is why some sites do not allow this.

Here i am again, complaining about my system..
As my previous topics, this one i think is more serious as i cant boot nor open up advance boot options(f8 dont work). As soon the manufacturers logo show off, an error: "Disk read error. Press ctr+alt+del to resatrt." It remains unless i press shutdown. Power on and it still shows the same.
I havent finished the download of the iso(to be used as a recovery method) thats why i opt for another way which is to recover a backup copy of my registry(which iv done by manually exporting it).  However, i have encrypted it before with my administrative user account. Now, im not able to decrypt it via cipher or keys as if i run: "cipher /c thatfilename.reg" it informs me that only the user(my account) and certificate thumbprint can decrypt it. No found backup certificate or keys. Bad for me i dont know how to recover it via the certificate thumprint....
My last option that i try is use EaseUs Data Recovery Wizard, which i have googled about tools that can decrypt files...
Glad it runs even im only using the recovery console. I installed it on my memory card(as my pc can still detect it). Im new to this tool and still dont know what should i click on for a spedific purpose. But i have tried the partition recovery, since im thinking that maybe it could still detect missing/lost files on the drive by which windows is installed..  It search then rebuild directories for more than 4 hours. remaining time is already at 00:... Since the drive still works you might want to give SpinRite a try.  This isn't free and will probably run for days before it fixes your problems.  I do not see you getting your data back any other way since it is encrypted.  Encryption is great for keeping information private, but I've see a whole lot of data lost due to encryption.  In the end only you can say how much your data is worth.

You can try this:

1- Edit the following key value...
2- Change the LoadLCE and the LoadSens values from "yes" to "auto"
3- The computer must be rebooted for the changes to take effect. If these values get changed back by themselves after a reboot, then check the Run key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run If you find an entry called "loadwc", delete it and reboot again.

Maybe I don't understand fully, but perhaps the reason that you can't access some webpages is because you are offline? When you say work offline, it means that it just stores pages that you have visited in the temp files, and accesses those files when you're offline.

Open IE, click on File and see if you have a check mark beside Work Offline. If you do, click Work Offline to remove the check mark.

Hello, not sure if this question belongs here but I think its browser related.

I have an IP camera where in I can view the live video via browser but it is setup with Java.

I noticed that if my internet is down, I can't view the video feed even if its on my local network... But when my internet is working it loads up right away..

Is there a way to make Java applets work even if the internet is down?

Here is a sample html source code from the IP camera browser page -

<applet name="cvcs" codeBase="https://camerasIPaddress" archive="aplug.jar" code="aplug.class" width=640 height=480>
<param name="Timeout" value=5000>
<param name="RotateAngle" value=0>
<param name="PreviewFrameRate" value=2>
<param name="Algorithm" value="1">

I have DSL supplied by my ISP--BellSouth. From time to time I have been getting a dialog box telling me that I am not connected (in so many words) and do I want to work offline or retry to connect to DSL. I click on Retry and I am immediately connected again. This has been happening for about a month now and it has begun to get annoying. As you know, DSL is supposedly always connected.
A friend has been seeing the same message and he is on cable. Anyone know what is going on with ISP's? Are they trying to cut down on idle computers to save bandwidth or what? If so, how can I, we, prevent it's happening? Thinking I may get some feedback from this board, it will help in confronting my ISP with the proper questions. As always, TIA.

A:Work Offline OR Retry

It does suggest that you may have some micro-outages on the DSL service.

It happens here about once every couple of months as well, probably due to service issues at the DSLAM equipment level.

DSL can only travel a finite distance from the exchange before the level gets unreliable, so its also possible that you are in a fringe area.

Also you may have some connected equipment that is interfering from time to time with the phone line depending on how the DSL installation was performed.

About a month ago I had a virus hit my computer, I have managed to get rid of it. I've run my anti-virus software several times and it says there isn't a virus now. My computer is hooked up via wireless router to my wife's computer which is hooked up directly to DSL.

While online I keep getting a Work Offline Box which pops up on the screenfrom time to time, and I have to reconnect with DSL. Before the virus, I never had any problems staying online with DSL and having to reconnect.

I was hoping that someone here on the forum might know a little something about this sort of thing and help me get rid of the Work Offline Box.

Thanks for your help!

Last night, there was a thunderstorm, so my dad unplugged the internet. I didnt know he did it, so when I tried to go online, an error popped up asking if I wanted to work offline. I clicked yes. The next day, I apparently am still working offline, I guess. I use firefox, and can connect to the net just fine, but MSN Messenger won't connect because it says I am working offline. Also, I cant find Internet Explorer on my computer. I think it was uninstalled when we got firefox. Can anyone help? Thanks.

A:Turn off work offline

IE did not get uninstalled, since Microsoft has made it very difficult to do that. :) Look in Start, Programs, Accessories, and you should find an icon there.

If you run IE, on the File menu, there's a Work Offline entry, try toggleing that.

I recently had a problem with Norton blocking my access to explorer and after some good advice was able to turn off the block. After getting back on to the net via explorer I started receiving messages intermittenly that I cannot connect beause I am working offline and then finding out that the workoff line option in tools is checked. It will usually take a few attempts at removing the check before I am able to get back on line then a few minutes later I am back at it again. Any suggestions to stop this from happening? I don't even know what "work offline" means so I don't need the option.

A:Work Offline Message

Hi brandgz ,Working Off-Line means you are disconnected from the internet.When you uncheck an option, verify the change by clicking Okay.
