13'3 Yoga 720 palm rejection dead zone

Q: 13'3 Yoga 720 palm rejection dead zone

I've noticed that a portion of the screen of my yoga 720 won't respond to my wacom stylus while my palm is resting on the screen. I've tried the "ignore touch" option in windows settings with no avail. Anyone else have this issue? Is this something I can fix on my end?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a yoga 720 and a bamboo ink stylus for it. i had recently sent the unit in to get the hinges replaced as they were warped. I recieved the laptop back and did the latest windows 10 update, however now when i rest my palm on the screen to write it glitches causing what i write to not appear. This was not an issue before sending it in. I am wondering if this is possibly something caused by sending the laptop in or a software issue. It works fine when i write without placing my palm on the screen.

The X1 Yoga rejects touch as if it were a palm way too easily. When using the X1 in tablet mode, my thumb often is at an angle where the entire thumb is used to scroll through pages, however, the X1 sees this as a palm, rejecting the touch.  Heres a video detailing what I'm talking about. As a note, this does not happen at all on a Surface Pro 4, which actaully knows that I'm using a thumb not a palm. I mean how can the touchscreen mistake my thumb for how big a palm is? Not very happy as I use my X1 in tablet mode to browse the web quite often.

Hi,My ideapad lenovo yoga 720(13 inches) had wifi problems and a "pen writing" dead zone when I used to write with my palm down. After talking with lenovo support, I ve decided to send it to repair.Days passed and I ve kept checking the repair board seeing messages as " looking for parts" then " repairing" and at the end "repair completed see notes" . But repair notes said " Verified orderly functioning. Taken functional tests for the device. "Now I am worried that they didn't repair my laptop. So I was asking myself "what did the message looking for parts meant"? Hope to hear somebody who had/ is in my same situation. Here's a video with the main problem. I received the PC. They didn't repair it because they marked it as "working unit". I am mad of this. Palm rejection is not working correctly or pheraps is the entire Display Digitizer. The funny thing is that I ve send it with a "tempered glass attached". I knew that if a repair centre has to deal with tempered glass "They will always peel it off" before starting to work on it. Well It is still there, that states the quality of the whole operation. Should had bought something else. Here I attach the video (italian "dubbing" sorry).https://youtu.be/-y47lqillhY

As a new owner of the C930, I'm very much enjoying the experience.  Last night I started to play around with the Pen and doing some sketches and drawings using some built-in Windows 10 apps.  The experience was fine especially after I adjusted some Pen settings in Windows 10.  But one thing I noticed was there were some blemishes outside of my main drawing where possibly my palm was on the screen.  Small blemishes which I could "erase" but just wondering if others have the same issue and how you solved it. Thanks in advanceAmar

I got my Yoga 260 around 10 days ago. I first updated my windows 10 to the new release (so I'm not sure if the problem was there from the begining). The pen is not working as it should be, the tip is not detected or detected by some offset (usually it goes into bottom of the screen besides taskbar). For example I start writing in onenote and suddenly instead of writing on the current line it is writing some wiggly things on the bottom of the page. This is not only happening in onenote or inking apps, even when I'm using the pen for selecting lines in a webpage, jumps happen.   Is this a pen problem? or display digitizer? Also I'm not sure if this is a driver problem or hardware problem. I tried to rollback to original installed windows 10 to test that, using factory resseting but I couldn't, windows keeps the upgrade. I checked the wacom driver it is recent 08/02/2016 even more recent than the one available on wacom's website (I tested both). I changed the pen and inking setting: made the handness to "right hand" and "Ignore touch input when I'm using my pen" to on, but nothing helped. It is really frustrating, because I mainly bought this notebook because of its stylus. So anyone else had the same problem? Any fixes for that?  Thanks

After upgrading to windows 10, palm rejection while using the stylus no longer works, causing there to be multiple glitchy inputs while the pen is active. It's set to right handed pen use and it's still messed up. The other thing is that crystal disk info says that there's no health setting for my SSD and most of it's stats are "unknown". Anyone know of any solutions to these issues?

Hi, I'm having problems with the palm rejection on my X1 Yoga. When using the TB3 port for video output to external monitors, the palm rejection gets twitchy when I have my palm on the screen and the supplied pen jumps all over the screen while drawing. The same exact thing happens with my Wacom Bamboo. When I stop using the TB3 port (either unplugging or set display to PC only), the insane jitter goes away and the palm rejection works normally. Also, if I use the pens with my hand lifted off the screen, there is no jitter. I tried the same thing on the HDMI connection and the palm rejection seems to be working fine. Any suggestions? I'm on Windows 10 Build 17134 & BIOS Firmware N25ET39W (1.25) and have all the latest updates installed through Lenovo Vantage. Thanks!

Hi, I recently purchased 2 Yoga 920s from Lenovo. On one of them I am having serious issues with palm rejection and none of the solutions I can find on the various forums seem to resolve my issue. When writing (e.g. in One Note) and resting my palm on the screen, the cursor keeps "jumping" between my palm and the tip of the pen. This leads to any of the following behaviors:- Not writing at all (e.g. Hello turns into H    l  o)- "writing" where my palm is located- doing some freaky stuff and just creating random lines in the area of my palm and pen  How could I resolve this issue?

I bought the Lenovo Flex 5 with digitizer and active stylus hoping I would be able to use it for drawing and painting as well as writing notes/ journaling as it's advertised to be capable of but I'm really disappointed. First of all, if my palm is resting on the screen the pen acts really glitchy. Only about 10% of what I write/draw is registered at all and half of that is really delayed. Additionally the action isn't very accurate, if I use a ruler to draw a line it tuns out jagged and bumpy and everything I write/ draw looks really sloppy. I've used a Microsoft Surface Pro 4  and an iPad Pro with the pencil and none of these things were an issue, the outcome was as accurate as pen and paper.  I've tested out several applications/ programs, some are better than others but none of them are good enough for me to really want to use. I replaced the the active stylus with a Wacom Bamboo Ink stylus, the rubber tip feels better to use but the results are still the same. I also went to a store and tested both of my pens on the two Flex 5s they had on display and it was all the same. Is this a software issue that can be improved through updates? Or is anyone having a positive experience drawing on a Flex 5? It is advertized to have palm rejection, accuracy and pressure sensativity, there is digitizer technology that succesfully achieves all of those things for a plesant writing/ drawing experience so why doesn't this?

I could really use your help! I use OneNote on my Yoga 14 (Type 20FY) to take notes in veterinary school and I've had an issue for the past year or so. While in tablet mode, if I'm using the stylus pen, it will take anywhere from 2 to 15 seconds after removing the pen from the screen to allow input with a finger. Sometimes it takes even longer than that and I have to either unfold the screen or write with the pen again to finally get it to toggle palm rejection off again. Here's a link to a video I made a few minutes ago of the issue https://youtu.be/-RPDYB96GXk  I usually just keep the computer folded over my left arm while writing with my right so that I can unfold it quickly and refold it, but this slows my note-taking drastically and drives me crazy! Even when everything is running perfectly, my classes cover so much material that I can't keep up, so this is really an issue for me.  This problem NEVER occurs when the computer is in laptop mode - the palm rejection toggling happens instantly every single time while in laptop mode. This makes me believe it might be a setting somewhere in the tablet mode code. Any suggestions are welcome and I'd be completely fine with disabling tablet mode entirely if that's possible. Below is some info on the system, if you need more info, let me know!Yoga 14 (Type 20FY)64 bit Windows 10 HomeMicrosoft OneNote 2016 MSO (16.0.8528.2126) 32 bit

I have a home network with one wired desktop and two wireless laptops using a linksys

The basement (where the PS3 is is located) is part of new construction with cinderblock walls that have been sheetrocked. I brought a laptop to the basement and the ping goes from <1ms to "destination host unreachable". The house is 100+ years old and I can't run a cable from front to back and down two floors.

Should I buy a Belkin wirelessN+ router or a Belkin Gigabit Powerline Adapter to get this PS3 online? Any other options?

My Yoga 14 makes very distractig creaking noises under normal hand weight (right hand) when typing. Is this a common issue or can I expect a device without that issue if I return it for a new one?

A:Yoga 14: Creaking noise under right palm

Hi

I don't have that creaking noise on my TPY 14 on the right palm with normal hand weight, but I noticed that this model has some creaking/squeaking noise on the plastic if you make some preasure on the right just over the power button. I also notice some creaking noise on the top left just on the SDCard slot if you make some preasure there.  I'm thinking that those two creaking noises are part of the design of the machine.

So, I thought I had this fixed when I managed to find a tweak for Windows 8 to disable the sticky corners. You set MouseClippingLength from 6 to 0. Seemed to the job. But it turns out, that didn't solve my problem completely. Along the right edge of the screen, there is an area that your cursor can fall into that is outside your full screen windows. It does not span the entire length of the right side, just the top 2/3, and it's 1-3 pixels in width. (I think 2.)

I've been googling all over the place and editing a lot of registry values to see if I can guess at it, but no luck. This ticks me off a great deal because I'm used to swinging my cursor all the way to the right to grab a hold of a scroll bar or close a window. I want it gone.

If anyone knows how to disable it, please let me know.
Edit: As it turns out, my second monitor (an HDTV that's turned off) wasn't working correctly, and I didn't even realize Windows 8 was trying to automatically use both monitors. My bad.

I just got an X380Y and I noticed that the screen does not sit flush when closed and it seems to be that the base cover and palm rest are severely warped and bend at the corners. I have tried replacing the base cover numerous times but always have the exact same problem. I have contacted onsite warranty services but have been told it may fall under user damage and not be covered, even though I received the laptop in this way. Does anyone else have this issue?

I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad L380 Yoga in August 2018. It has been used very carefully without any drops or other accidents. Today, I discovered a hairline crack on the palm rest just next to the bottom-left corner of the touchpad.  I contacted Lenovo support regarding this matter, and after seeing the photos that  I sent them (the same photos are attached here), they have concluded that it is a customer induced damage (CID) and will not be covered under warranty. The only justification for their conclusion was that there is no such issue reported in other laptops. This justification was made over the phone when I requested them an email regarding their justification. It is only the hand that is kept around this region of the palm rest. If it cannot bear the weight of the hand, I suppose the build quality and material is pretty cheap although the price was about 1800 NZD.  Have you also come across similar issues with the same L380 Yoga? What are the situations/scenarios for such a crack to happen when the device has been properly used and maintained in accordance with the product information guide? Cheers!!

I have a dell xps 13 9360. My trackpad is fine except for one issue. When i try to move the cursor a few pixels, ie trying to click a button or any precision work really, the mouse either doesn't move at all or does move then comes to a complete stop even if my finger keeps going. This only happens when i move the cursor at lower speeds. If i swipe fast, it is really responsive and precise.
I've tried to set the trackpad speed to the highest, enable precision thingy and remove or shorten delay. That is not the issue.
I've seen others have the same issues:
I assume the "delay" you're experiencing isn't really a delay but actually it requires you to move a significant amount on the trackpad before it notices you're moving the cursor. This is the exact same problem my old XPS 13 9350 had (all three of them). There is no "fix" to this as far as I know, because this is a windows driver based trackpad and for some retarded reason, windows thought its a good idea to do this. There are alternatives to this, by using 3rd party drivers from synaptics that "fix" the cursor problem, but then you lose other features like multi finger gestures i.e scrolling, pinch to zoom etc
Here's a video of the issues: https://youtu.be/ALRLFjVuJ-M
Is there a good fix for this.

Hi guys and gals, I have a small problem and I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it:

I have an old "ecostar" Playstation driving wheel that used to work fine on the console.

However, I bought a "game" adapter some years ago to plug it into the PC but, for some reason, the dead zone is huge! It makes playing racing games a chore. It's hardly playable, really.

So, I tried different drivers and utilities but I still got the same problem.

Can someone say if it's possible to somehow reduce the deadzone?

Thank you and happy holidays

Please follow this:
"Control Panel> Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers. Right click your device and click on game controller settings than click on properties."

And you might have a Calibrate button there

Hey guys, new to the forums.

I recently purchased an XPS 9360 touch model, and I have been having some issues which only seem to point to a hardware fault. I thought I noticed some touch screen ghosting in a vertical line down the left-ish side of my screen. It goes through random periods less than a second where the entire line is filled with ghost touches. I did the diagnostic test on the touchscreen, and found that that same area doesn't work (touching it would not fill in the boxes) I will post screenshots in a little bit.
I recently got an intel replacement wifi card from dell support and installed it myself, but it is probably irrelevant since I was having the issue before. While I was replacing the wireless card I checked all connections and they all looked fine to me. I have not been able to find any trigger for the ghost touches yet. They seem to be random.
Anyone had any issues before with ghost touches? If so, were they hardware related?

Hello,
I recently purchased an XPS 15 9560, Windows 10 and am having the trackpad dead zone issue (the pointer does not move until I move my finger about 1/4"at which point it has perfect response / tracking / precision). Each time I start to move the pointer using the trackpad I must go through the dead zone prior to the pointer responding normally. The dead zone appears to be a circle around the spot that I touch the trackpad.
When I disable the HID trackpad device in device manager, this dead zone problem is eliminated. Is there a way to access the trackpad driver registry settings to see if there is something I can change that will eliminate the dead zone?
Alternatively, is there a way to find out which trackpad brand I have that will allow me to try a different driver? I tried the Synaptics fix but I was not happy with the two finger scroll performance even after changing the registry settings.
Thank you,
Joe

Last night I left my Yoga 3 to shut down with "Windows 10 update and shutdown". This morning when I press the power button, it briefly lights the keyboard (a couple of seconds) then the keyboard goes dark again. Nothing appears on the display. The power button remains lit until I force shutdown by holding for 10seconds. Exactly the same as above is true if I attempt to access the boot menu by powering-up using the recessed "Novo" button. No boot menu appears, and the keyboard backlight goes out after  a couple of seconds. One last "odd" behaviour - when shut down, plugging in the power adaptor causes the Yoga to turn on (in the same state as if I'd pressed the power button). When "on" in all the above cases, the power button led is on (but seems dimmer than usual) and the battery led is on. Also, a USB power monitor shows 5.0V is available from the USB ports. Caps Lock does not toggle its led. Any suggestions?

Hi, I've had my Lenovo Yoga 710 11.6" for almost a month now and today I've ran into a serious problem. While using the laptop, the computer froze and the display became corrupted. I held the power button to re-start the machine and it turned off. Now when I try to turn it back on all I get is the power light on the side. This stays on but the computer doesn't boot up and the screen stays blank. I've tried to resolve the issue by holding the power button down for 20 plus seconds, but it goes off after about 7. I've tried resetting using the NOVO button but again, the power light comes on but the screen shows nothing. Aside from the power light (and the charging light when the AC adaptor is plugged in) there is no sign of any activity. What should I do? Is this laptop basically dead or can it be rescued? Any help much appreciated. Thanks,

Just got my X1 yoga with OLED screen and after less than a week with around three hours total use - no pen or touching - when I turned it on today it had a bright blue single pixel.  I tried everything I could find on-line but there it is, unchanged and glowing as strong as ever.  Any ideas.  Or is this a situation where I just focus on getting a replacement.

** Sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker ** I own a Lenovo yoga 3 14" (exact model: Lenovo Yoga 3 14 80JH00FLUS) in the last 2.5 years. I'd like to mention that my computer was fixed half year ago in a private lab, since the offical lenovo laboratory in my country refuse to fix it since I bought the laptop overseas. This time things went very bad and now my computer is completely dead. The past   Half year ago there was a problem in my laptop that was fixed in a private lab:The computer wouldn't load up  (although keyboard light would appear and then computer would shut down). Maybe in 1 out of 100 tries of powering up, it would succeed, but then the computer would shut down in few moments. As I said before, the computer was fixed in a private lab and they said that there was some problem in the motherboard (maybe some malfunction chip but I don't remember for sure what they said exactly) The present  My computer is completely dead, doesn't respond to any attempt of powering up (soft & hard resets), doesn't respond to any power button (regular or special button which used to load the bios menu, recovery menu, etc). problem appeared after another event of which I'll explain in the next paragraph: Sometimes, when my computer was in sleep mode for a long time, it would not respond to wake up when I would press the power button. So in those cases I had to do hard resets. ** I almost certainly sure it would only happen in sleep ... Read more

I have a Yoga 910 that will not boot, aparently due to a dead battery.  The battery has not been charging well for some time.  I thought it was the power adapter, so I replaced that and all was well for a couple of weeks.  But today the battery drained all the way and it will not boot.  When plugged in, the amber LED flashes.  When I press the power button, the LED on the power button comes on, keyboard light sup and the Lenovo logo screen comes up briefly, but then the system shuts down.  Based on another thread I tried unplugging it and holding down the power button for 60 seconds.  That did not have any effect - it is still behaving the same.  If I try to power it on without the power adapter connected, nothing happens - no LEDs on the power button or anything. Even if the battery is totally dead, shouldn't the laptop run with the power adapter plugged in?  I am using a standard Lenovo 45W USB-C power adapter.  I tried using a different (non-Lenovo) adapter, with the same results.  Would it run off AC power if I had a higher wattage adapter? I need to get it to boot for at least a few minutes so I can retrieve my daughter's homework off it.  After that I can take my time and get a replacement battery or whatever.  But I am amazed I can't get it to boot at all.  I used to operate ThinkPads with the battery totally removed and they ran fine.  Would it work if I remove the battery completely?... I've got a 2 plus year old yoga 12 inch CD20 type, I think they were called S1 back then. It has waicom pen and 1900 screen. I am in France now with horrible service support (unfortunately, my still good warranty is for US depot only, so not international), so I'm hoping I can sort my problem out myself before chasing down a repairman 200 miles away. here's what happened. yesterday I rebooted after a windows upgrade and the black thinkpad startup screen came on, then on windos start up it spun its wheel at light green/blue screen phase for 15 minutes (thinking maybe it was upgrading again). It wouldn't fully boot into windows, just spun its wheel. So I rebooted several times. Same issue. It was late, so I rebooted and left it to work itself through, maybe finally healing itself through its loop phase. Woke up this morning and laptop seems dead. No response when I hit turn on button. No red light above thinkpad coming on. And even when I plug in power cord, the red light doesn't come on. Of course I am hoping the power cable somehow died, but I can't test that locally. Would leaving it on cause the powerboard to fail? Is there a reset sequence I'm missing. If I could get it to fire up I would do system reset. Any ideas on what's going on, help?

I have a  Lenovo Yoga 710 (IdeaPad), a few weeks ago I was working on it, and suddenly (and with NO reason) it died, so I sent it to the Repair center 3 weeks ago because its NEW, and still in warranty. I've reviewed the repair status several times, but the last update was on July 31st, and it seems that the part needed to repair my machine is unavailable. I use my PC on a daily basis and it is really affecting my work/studies (I'm a PhD student)! Moreover I'm finishing my Fellowship in the US en returning back to Argentina by September 15th, so I really, REALLY, need your help! I've phoned several times to the Lenovo service center, but nobody gave me a helpful answer. What can I do to get my PC back before my flight date?
