M91P will not connect to a Dell U2715H monitor via the Display Port

Q: M91P will not connect to a Dell U2715H monitor via the Display Port

My daughter has a M91P model 7052-A9G serial number S4VEK82 running Windows XP SP3 for compatibility with legacy software. Her existing monitor is connected via VGA and she now wishes to use a Dell U2715H for better definition. When she connects the new monitor to the display port on the M91P it is not recognised by the system and the video is still only active on the VGA port. She is 80 miles from me and I support her using Team Viewer which enabled me to switch the desktop display properties to digital but still no output on the Dell so I changed it back to VGA so that she could work. The new monitor and display port cable has been tested on a friend's computer where it worked OK. Has anybody met this before and how did you resolve it. Many thanks Firkle

Preferred Solution: M91P will not connect to a Dell U2715H monitor via the Display Port

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: M91P will not connect to a Dell U2715H monitor via the Display Port

When I Googled for your problem, I found this on the Dell forum. The built-in Intel graphics on M91p has DP 1.1:

RE: U2515H - "no signal coming from your computer"

This happened to me when I enabled DP 1.2 option in the menu.
If that is the case, you do not have a DP 1.2 compatible hardware and software/OS. (perhaps if you are using a linux machine)

When your monitor tells no signal... push a menu button for about 10 seconds. It will show you other input sources, keep pushing. Then it will bring a menu to disable DP 1.2. Disable it. Restart the computer.
Hope this helps

Dear Dell,The Dell U2715H in question presents the Blacklight Bleed very pronounced especially in the lower left and right of the screen, as seen in the photo attached even in light conditions above 150 lux.I hope you help me solve my problem because it is very annoying.

A:Excessive backlight bleed Dell monitor U2715H

The only solution is to have the monitor replaced, assuming it's under warranty.  If it was purchased from Dell, contact customer support and have it replaced.
If it was purchased from a third party, return it to the seller for a refund or replacement.

Hi Guys,I am using a m91p as home theatre PC because it's fast enough an silent. At first setup I tried to have display port working on a screen but never used before and then never had it working so I gave up and put the pc in the TV cabinet. That beeing said, using it more and more, I wanted to have audio pass-through to the audio/video amp. So I bought a 30$ USB DAC, but it does only stereo ... that's what I found out after some tries. I then decided to have a low profile graphic card to have hdmi output and then audio through it. I bought a MSI RS450.It is fanless, low profile, low power (given for 20w max), pcie 2.0 and has 1gb ddr, and looked the same as the sapphire something everybody was talking about some years ago. But here I am. The m91p doesn't boot when I put the new card in it. No video on any of the outputs, internal VGA, or added DVI or HDMI, or VGA ...  I then tried to remove it and see how to activate the displayport, with no luck. I can't see it anywhere on windows. So I'm stuck on VGA display. The bios is up to date, I have latest intel drivers installed, it is a Windows 10 setup. I've tried all video modes on the bios. I've disabled the POST message when new configuration is detected ...  I have seen a lot of post about adding new cards or how to activate the DP output, tested all but couldn't have something concrete.Sorry if that has been already addressed and solved. Thanks a lot for your help !!

I'm wondering if someone possibly help as I'm not sure where to go next.

I have a Dell U2311H monitor connected to a XFX Radeon 6850 via its DisplayPort and I'm having problems with random flickering where the monitor picture goes black for a few seconds.

I have another monitor, an old HP, connected via DVI and a 1080p Sony LCD TV connected via HDMI.

I have had the Dell and HP monitors connected via DVI for months without any problems but I wanted to extend my Win 7 desktop to all 3 displays and I believe you can't do that using DVI, DVI and HDMI, hence why I want to use the display port.

I have tried 2 different displayport cables, so I don't think it is that. I don't have another gfx card or monitor to try to eliminate from the process.

One thing I did notice is that if I change the resolution from 1080p to 720p it seems to fix the problem. I'm wondering if it could be something to do with the displays running at different resolutions? Although I did try both the TV and Dell running at 1080p but there was still a problem.

Any suggestions greatly received,

A:Display port flicker on Dell U2311H monitor

I happen to see this thread when searching for solution for the same problem. I am using 3 monitor display setup, using U2311H connected with displayport to HD 5770 graphic card and 2 samsung 940b monitor connected with DVI to the same HD 5770 graphic card.

U2311H flickers (screen become totally black) for 1 to 2 sec at random times and return to normal.

I did not try any other display port cable yet because I did not have time to buy another one.

Seems like adbarnes have the same problem, I am wondering if it is because we are using 3 display setup? or display port? Or maybe there is something wrong with U2311h?

I have been using U2311H for some time, this flicker problem happens recently.

adbarnes, have you discovered how to solve the flicker problem?

My dell U2311H is using 1920x1080 (recommended) resolution
My samsung 940B is using 1280x1024 (recommended) resolution
(all using the recommended resolutions)
using win 7

Here is my situation,
I own a Lattitude E7450, and needed to connected two displays to it. I went ahead and bought the Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0, since it has 2 DVI ports on the back. It shows it is compatible with my laptop.
I set up my dock, connected my laptop, as well as both external monitors. Only one monitor shows a duplicated desktop. When I go into the display settings, I cannot see any existence of another external display being connected.
All of my drivers are up to date, restarted laptop many times. Pretty bummed out.
Anyone have any solution/knowledge to this?

As mentioned in the title I have both pieces of hardware.  I also just purchased a third Dell U2414H LCD monitor.  I am trying to connect all 3 via display port.  However it seems that all I can do is 2 monitors?  When I try to daisychain them I got 2 monitors mirroring each other and one through HDMI off the laptop.

Is this a physical limitation of the replicator?  Is there a firmware update somewhere?

A:Dell Latitude E6520 & E-Port Plus 2 - Display port issue

The E6520 comes with Intel HD Graphics 3000.  The specs for that GPU are buried in the specs for the CPU itself, but if you go to ark.intel.com and look up your CPU, then scroll down to the graphics section and verify that it shows Intel HD Graphics 3000, you'll find that that GPU only supports 2 independent displays, which is why you see mirroring.  More recent Intel GPUs do indeed support 3 displays, but no Intel GPUs to my knowledge yet support 4.
If your E6520 has the NVIDIA discrete GPU, I can't find any information on NVIDIA's site about maximum number of supported displays, but based on your experience I would assume it's 2 unless indicated otherwise.

I have two U2715H monitors connected via one mDP->DP cable each to an E-Port Plus docking station (actually a EURO2 Advanced Port Replicator) in which is seated a Latitude E7450 laptop. All items are brand new. The E7450 is equipped with 16 GB RAM and two graphics cards: Intel HD Graphics 5500 and NVIDIA GeForce 840M; selection is automatic, which usually means the 5500 is in operation. It runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64 bit). The docking station apparently has DP 1.2a capabilities (for daisy chaining) but DP 1.2 is disabled in both monitors.
I have successfully set up the system to have the Windows desktop span both monitors at 2560x1440 resolution, even with the Latitude's internal screen as a third extension at its full resolution (1920x1080). The Main display may be set to either of the two (or three) and I can successfully move the sequence of the monitors around (left, middle, right).
So there is no doubt about the system's capability to support the intended configuration. However, when I dock the Latitude (mostly with the lid shut) and boot it, most of the time it cannot reestablish the configuration of the two external monitors. Some of the symptoms are: One or both monitors go black, indicating cable connected but no signal arriving from the docking station. If there is a picture on one of the monitors at startup, it may or may not contain the login screen. (I can still log in because I know what keystrokes to send.) If the login screen is visible, ... A:Latitude E7450, E-port 2, U2715H - dual monitors - unstable configuration

No responses, so I will add my own, on the way towards a solution, which I believe requires driver enhancements. Are you listening, Dell?
Together with a colleague who knows better than me what to look for, we discovered:- The Intel HD graphics control panel -> Display port topology only discovers one, not two display ports. This could be a problem with the panel or with the graphics driver.- Both Intel and Nvidia have more recent driver releases for their respective hardware components in the Latitude E7450 than those available from Dell but they cannot be installed directly. (NVidia 353.06 vs 341.27; Intel vs - I suspect digits 5 and 6 reflect an OEM numbering scheme). Intel says their driver update includes critical fixes for display support.- When we attempted to install the latest Nvidia driver, the display flashed in what seemed to be a non-trivial manner (before the update was automatically aborted). This could be related to a conflict between the two drivers.
I also discovered that even when only one of the Dell U2715H monitors is connected, it frequently goes black when it shouldn't. So it is not a question of a dual monitor configuration as I originally thought. I have also swapped docking stations to eliminate random hardware error in this component. The Intel driver's handling of display port(s) seems to be the most likely culprit.
Guessing from seeing repeated patterns of monitor behavior, a more precise diagnosis could be t... Read more

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a U2715H 27-Inch monitor, unfortunately I happened to run in some issue that other users here ran into as well. My monitor would flicker for a few seconds presenting a black screen. On top of that it would sometimes go in Power Save Mode, or it would not detect the signal coming from my laptop right away (requiring me to turn it off for a minute, unplug it, replug it and turn it on again).
As you can imagine I immediately replaced it, especially since I noticed that other people had the exact same issue and did the same. Now here's the interesting part, the new monitor that I received seemed to be ok for a few hours but the it started presenting the exact same issues as the old one.
Keep in mind that I tried the following solutions: using a brand new HDMI cable (same issues), using a DP to HDMI adapter (same issues), plugging my laptop into another monitor or tv (no issues), and plugged in my laptop to the same exact monitor but 24" instead of 27" (no issues). So this led me to think that my laptop has no problem whatsoever.
I have a GeForce GTX 960M, which should be more than fine. Now I am not sure what to do, I think this is a great monitor but I am afraid that replacing it would just lead to another defective product. I am inclined to just return it and look for a completely different one.
What do you suggest ?

I have a Dell Precision 7510 (Intel HD Graphics 530 & NVIDIA Quadro M2000M). I want to drive 3 external displays (Dell U2715H) off of this machine. What are my options? I have the E-Series Port Replicator, is it doable with that?

A:Precision 7510 with 3x Dell U2715H displays

Yes, it will be doable. You might have to mix and match using both the dock and system (depending on the exact dock series), but it looks like if you use ports on the system you can technically get this setup as long as the switchable graphics are enabled (and it should be). Here is also a link discussing this. I got the info above from internal sources, but you also might see this on the sales/support site. Best regards,Brad

So just received a new dell u2715 monitor. When I connect it to my xps13 laptop using the supplied Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable no image is displayed on the monitor. Opening the dell monitor managements utility on laptop l get error msg, no dell monitors are attached. I assume the supplied Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable can be used to attach Mini DisplayPort end to laptop and the DisplayPort end to the monitor??
Anyhow l can't get it to work.
However if l use my own Mini DisplayPort to hdmi adaptor, and plug Mini DisplayPort end into laptop and hdmi end of cable to on back of monitor, it displays ok.
Any help must appreciated.

I recently bought a U2715H monitor with a AC511 soundbar. I have it hooked up as the instructions describe to my computer (via USB cable and HDMI cable) and my monitor (via HDMI cable). I get audio from the computer but when I switch the source from HDMI 1 (computer) to HDMI 2 (Direct TV) the audio from direct TV does not get passed though. I also tried using the 3.5mm audio out jack on the back of the monitor to the audio in on the side of the soundbar and still no audio. I also tried connecting my Ipad to to the 3.5mm audio in and also no sound. I am about to return both if this cannot be fixed as I bought the new monitor and sound card so I could both watch TV and use as a monitor.

Hi all,

I just ordered a new monitor, the Samsung U28E590D. My gfx card is an MSI GTX 780ti.

I read that without HDMI 2.0 I won't be able to get 4:4:4 chroma subsampling and only 4:2:0 with hdmi 1.4.

I don't really know what that means but from what I've read it can effect colours so now I'm worried about my purchase.

The monitor has a display port 1.2 and so does my graphics card. If I connect them this way with a display port cable included with the monitor will I get the 4:4:4 and not sacrifice any display quality? Or is the 4:4:4 only achievable with HDMI 2.0?

I want to switch between 2 laptops onto a DELL E178FPc Monitor (which is VGA input only).  The Laptops are a DELL E6410 -VGA out only, running Win7    and  a DELL Inspiron 5000 series machine -HDMI output, running Win10.
I have tried to achieve this using a KVM switch (the ATEN CS22U, non-powered). It claims to be Win7 compliant.
When I connect it to the E6410's VGA port and then in to the Monitor it says 'no signal detected'. Subsequent research would suggest that even if I were to somehow get a display through the KVM switch it will be lost as soon as you switch to the other laptop (!).
I have come to believe through research on the web that the E6410 Laptop will only work with a VGA monitor being directly connected to its port, or an alternative (powered) KVM Switch with so called Active-DDC (whatever that is!) may also work.
Needless to say I have exhausted my tech knowledge on this one.
Can anyone offer further advice or recommend a solution?

Hi everyone,
I have a new hardware:

Dell XPS13 (9360) with Thunderbolt 3
Dell U3417W 34" monitor  (3440x1440 px)

I have prepared everything on my table because I had no idea that new Dell only has Thunderbolt 3 and no mini display port. I was kind of surprised (in a bad way) that I will need another reduction.
The problem is that I can only input display port, mini display port and HDMI into the new Dell U3417W monitor. I am not sure how much resolution I can squeeze from HDMI, so what is left are those display ports.
Should I buy USB-C -> Display port cable like for e.g. Startech USB Type-C to Displayport cable, 1m (CDP2DPMM1MB) which could possibly do the job? Or perhaps even some Thunderbolt 3 cable?
I need to have 3440x1440 px @ 60 Hz where some of those cables support only @30 Hz and they do not explicitly state that 3440x1440px resolution is supported.
I would rather avoid those bugged Dell docking stations where the whole internet (e.g. Amazon) is snowed by users complaints.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Display properties showed that cant detect the external display. the external monitor also goes to idle state. I need to turn off / restart laptop several times to get the external display on, sometimes for a whole day it did not come back at all.
I found a work around, when this happens go to display properties and change the "Extended desktop mode" to "Duplicate the display" mode and the apply, the other monitors get back to normal. you can reapply the Extended mode afterwards and it works fine.
I use kwmobile usb c hub.

So far computer is working fine with three monitors configured in windows as extended desktop.

This motherboard has just one PCIeX16 slot. It has 2 PCIeX1 and a PCI slot that are vacant.

I need to connect yet another DVI monitor. I took a HDMI<->DVI cable, connected it to the onboard HDMI port. the monitor was not detected.

I tried various combinations of monitors and bios settings in vain. Under no circumstances the HDMI port drove the DVI monitor.

The cable is working fine elsewhere.

What did I do wrong ? Is there something I need to buy/replace for this to work ?

Thanks !

A:How to connect additional DVI monitor to HDMI port

you 'need' to connect a 4th monitor? I recommend getting graphics card(s) to support your endeaver, but up to you.

Why don't you get a dvi to vga or maybe its a vga to dvi cord and connect the dvi monitor to the graphics card vga port?

Does it have to go into the HDMI port? HDMI carries sound as well as the video signal, dvi only carries video, and vga carries a lesser quality video

I have an HP ZR22w monitor with three inputs: VGA, DVI, and DisplayPort. I want to hook up a computer to the DisplayPort, but my video card id HDMI out. All the cables are sold as DisplayPort source out to HDmi monitor in. Are these cables reversible?
Can you recommend the right way to hook this up? Is there a cable that exists for this situation? Do I need a combination cable/adapter?

OLD monitor Dell 29 inch Ultra U2913WM
NEW monitor Dell 27 inch 4K P2715Q
tripplite KVM model B004-DP2UA2-K (2 port displayport 1.2 4k kvm switch)
desktop video card  XFX Radeon R9 - 270x
laptop video built in intel
I was already using the kvm to swap the input from a laptop and a dell desktop to a Dell U2913WM monitor without issue.
The desktop PC is having this issue since I swapped the monitor to the P2715Q  4K monitor; the desktop icons all regroup to the upper left corner of the screen when I change the input on the KVM switch. This has also happened with a dell 4K S2817Q but this has never happened on the U2913WM. Everything else works fine on the P2715Q. The laptop is having no issues all icons remain in the same location on the screen.
The desktop is using a Radeon 9 270x and as stated it works fine with the U2913WM at 2850 x 1080 x 60
the desktop is using the 4k monitor at 3840 x 2160 x 60 and the laptop is setup the same but it is running the built in Intel graphics.
the newest drivers are installed on the desktop and the laptop.
I am seeking solution to the icon issue on the desktop PC, I cannot use the entire video desktop to setup icons every time I swap inputs to the monitor ands then swap back to the PC the icons are in the upper left corner.

Greetings! I'm experiencing a problem on what appears to be HP Prodesk 600 G2 computers exclusively.  Intermittently, when the computer wakes from sleep or standby, the computer loses its monitor drivers. When the computer wakes the monitor is now in 640x480 resolution and if you look in the Screen Resolution window it shows the current driver is the "Generic Non-PnP Monitor".  These computers are hooked up with dual HP displays of like model and when it happens the fix seems to be to simply restart the computer. While this is easy enough it is extremely disruptive to the work of our users and so I've been tasked with finding a real fix to this problem. To that end I have updated the computer with the latest BIOS from HP as well as the latest Intel graphics drivers from HP's website (Intel Graphics 530 chipset) but to no avail. We have also tried using different monitors and it continues to occur intermittently. Also, we have many HP Prodesk G1's in the building and none of these have this problem. This leads me to suspect that this is a problem exclusive to the Prodesk G2's and not with Windows or the monitors we are using. It should also be noted that both monitors are connected using the on-board display ports. My hunch is that it is the Intel Graphics 530 (onboard) graphics chipset that that's the problem but I don't think we should have to buy a seperate graphics card to get two displays to work on these computers especially when it's so clear th... The Think Center M58 tower has an on-board display port noted as "Display Port 1.1a."The graphics adapter is listed as Intel integrated graphics 4500, ATI-Radeon HD3470, 9500GT 512MB, 128 bits ATX. The maximum resolution for the Display Port of the M58 6239 was quoted as 2560x1600.This refurbished M58 is running Windows 10. Will the newer Lenovo L24q-20 monitor, 2560x1440, with display port  version 1.2, be compatible with the display port of  that M58 Think Center?.

Does the HD 3470 have DP?  Is dual-link DVI an option (do both HD 3470 and monitor have it)?

We have a large monitor (Dell 3007wfpt) connected to a Dell Precision M4800 laptop. The large monitor only works with DVI-Dual Link so we have a Display Port to DVI-D adapter (Accell UltraAV DP to DVI-D). The user of this machine was working in Outlook on this external monitor right after a fresh boot and noticed the mouse cursor was moving very slowly. Eventually the external monitor froze completely and the laptop monitor showed a BSOD whilethe external monitor showed the same frozen static windows/outlook image. I checked the crash files and noticed two dumps (although he only noticed one crash). Both dump files seem to point to a USB device. This Accell adapter uses displayport and usb (for power). Could someone check and confirm if this is the case through the dump files?

The only other USB devices is a Logitech wireless receiver and a USB hub/card reader that is built onto the Dell monitor. This usb hub on the monitor does not have anything plugged into it.

Thoughts? Could it be the monitor usb hub/card reader? Or the displayport adapter? If it's the adapter, then would an external powered usb hub be a fix for that? Thanks!

A:BSOD usb related, monitor hub or display port adapter?

Hi Rogue75.

First of all, Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs. Otherwise, stop 9x9F cannot be successfully prevented.
Click on the Start button
Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the “Startup” tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus and the touchpad "Apoint".
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Next come to the BSOD. Do you use the webcam?
(c:\program files (x86)\dell webcam\dell webcam central\webcamdell2.exe)

Better you disable the webcam in device manager. See how it goes. Observe if there is any more BSOD after freeing up the startup items and disabling the webcam.

But, the webcam might be necessary for you. Search for any possible updates in Support | Dell US for your Dell Precision M4800. If any update to the webcam is there, apply it.

Report us for any further BSOD.
