I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone! I have some questions, I hope someone can help me. I found a Dell T3500 at a good price, it has the Xeon W3580, 12GB of RAM and 1TB HDD, that seems pretty good to add to my GTX 950 and play some games I cant right now due to my good old Core 2 Quad I have right, it cant keep up with some more demanding games. I already checked some videos on Youtube and it does handle the latest game with easy with a GPU.The problem I saw is that I see this Dell only has Sata 2.0. Is that correct? Does it means the HDD is slower? How much? My current computer has Sata 3.0, it also uses a Micron C400 SSD, which makes it lighting fast. Could I use my SSD on the Dell? Or will there be any issues? I really want to use my SSD for some games and the O.S, the HDD will be for much bigger games and the rest of programs and data.Hope somebody can share me some light on this issue. Thanks everyone!

A:Dell T3500: Gaming and SSD question.

Buy something else -- a desktop system of more recent vintage with a more current chipset/mainboard/CPU.
These Precisions are loaded with proprietary components and the Xeon CPUs are now obsolete - you should easily be able to find an Ivy Bridge or newer i7 system for equivalent money.

Which of these CPUs would be best for gaming?  Or is there any real difference?
Xeon W3670 (3.2GHz 6C/12T)
Xeon X5687 (3.6GHz 4C/8T)

One has more cores, the other has faster clock speed.  I have 24GB 1066MHz ECC RAM now, but would be willing to change to 1333MHz if I got the quad core.

Hello.
I have problem while playing games, i get bsod "WHEA_UNCORECTABLE_ERROR", bluescreen viewer blames hal.dll and ntoskrnl.exe. I have tired many solutions, did clean install of windows 8.1 and upgraded to 10, reseted bios, changed voltage on processor, changed PSU. Error is still there.
GPU temp is 40 - 60C, CPU temp is 35 - 60C
My PC specs are: AMD athlon 64 x2 5000+, nvidia GT 610, 2 GB DDR2, ASUS AliveSata2-glan MB and Codegen 450W PSU, i know that PC is old, but mainly it is used for movies and browsing net, and games that can run.
I had this error before from time to time but solution was reseting BIOS, but now it happens 10 - 15 minutes in gaming.
I have stressed CPU with Prime95 and got no errors, was checking RAM with memtest86, got errors, got out defective ram, putted in other one and got no errors but bsod happened again.
Thanks in advance

Hi emirm990,

It appears you have KMSpico.
This program is used for cracking Office and Windows.
As you don't have Office installed it is clear you have a counterfeit (illegal) copy of Windows.
Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
For this reason, many if not all analysts won't attempt it.

Please backup your files, purchase and clean install Windows.

Hy  New to the forum, so a beginners question. I have as above mentioned laptop and from what i gathered my laptop is on BIOS version F.09 Rev.A and its working just great, till i put nvme samsung 961 m.2 disk. I would supposed to read/write=3500MB/s/1500MB/s. When i tested it the speeds woudnt go all the way, so i thought ok, its a motherboard issue something to do with the layers of nvme plugin. When the new bios came F.26 Rev.A and it said under Fix and enhancements:- Provides improved SSD performance.I was thriled and over the roof. When i tested it it was going all the way with the speeds and lets say it seemed the computer is faster because of the disk full read capacity. But my fan was always on and laptop became quite loud, just reading something in pdf or reading something online the fan always on and blowing alot of air. In bios I disabled the function FAN ALWAYS ON, but still no luck. So now i am back on the old bios version  F.09 Rev.A because no fan is better then "fast nvme ssd disk". So my question is is there possible to have a new bios version with fast disk capability and no fan option that works. I check my temps and on old bios  F.09 Rev.A the temp of CPU is average about 42C, new bios  F.26 Rev.A fan always on about 35C. I know lower the C better for CPU, but still. Doing the same thing like reading pdf or reading something like HP forum online. Thank you

A:Avast IS 2016 / Panda IS 2016 / Bitdefender IS 2016

What kind of system do you have?
Panda and Avast are the lightest while Bitdefender can be heavy.

All 3 offer excellent protection (Avast requires tweaking; Bitdefender and Panda works out of the box), while Bitdefender is mainly known for its detection rate (signatures).

Try the 3 of them (trial versions, not the 6 months) and see which one you prefer.

In terms of UI, all 3 are user friendly.

A:F-Secure Internet Security 2016 vs Panda Free Antivirus 2016

If a security soft ranks amongst the top performing AVs, it won't matter much if it does function correctly or causes problems on your specific system.

From lab test results F-Secure has an edge over Panda during testing the past few years in terms of detection (although higher false positives).

From users, it seems more prefer Panda - which is one of Neil Rubenking's (PCMag) favs (that don't mean much - but that is just my opinion).

I'd say, in terms of overall protection, Panda has a slight edge; it might protect your system in a few instances that F-Secure will not.

According to all sources that I could find on-line, it appears that rules are part of pst file.

However, this does not happening in my case.

I use outlook 2016 (part of MS office 2016) and have several accounts linked with this ? From my ISP (POP), Hotmail, yahoo, Gmail. I have rules only for account from my ISP.

Recently I deleted my Hotmail account, removed it from my outlook, deleted associated ost file. Then I had second thought and re-activated this hotmal account the following day. Added this to my outlook. To my surprise all rules vanished. Not a single rule remained. I did NOT have any rules setup for Hotmail account. Even column details for message folders (part of setting) got changed.

I decided to check further. Copied my pst files to another computer which had same version of outlook installed and has exactly the same setup.

Now I added some rules on my 1st computer. Checked the 2nd computer. The same rule appeared there. That means pst file does not contain rules.

So, Where are they?

Hope someone can help me. I am lost!!
Thanks

I ordered About 10 sticks of Dell SNPP9RN2C/8G For my T3500s , These are 8gb PC3-10600 sticks. Here is a link. ( it is the 1st Type of Ram offered) http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/PfydFeaturedCategoryResults.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&mfgpid=201440&chassisid=8560&stype=2&Tab=After putting these sticks in a t3500 I was receiving "non optimal ram config" error (the bios see's the 8gb stick). I could not get rid of this so I tried to only put the 8gb stick in. This caused the pc to not boot at all. After looking up some stuff I found the tech manual for the t3500. Reading this I found out the t3500 only supports up to a 4gb stick per slot. Then I thought why would dell make this the 1st option when you go to purchase upgrades for a t3500. Also, On the web page for the the RAM, The 1st table does not show the t3500 listed for compatibility. However, The list lower on the page does. Now after all this I Find BIOS update A11 says this under "fixed & enhancements" "Enhanced the memory map algorithm for 128GB configuration" . After installing the latest BIOS update (A17) and trying the ram again, Only putting the 8gb stick in , I still dont boot.(http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=J7N1X&fileId=2964784371 )Does A17 not contain this memory change? Why would dell offer this ram for the t3500? Or am I just missing something?

Have you tried installing a pair of those 8-GB sticks together in slots 1 and 2?
Are you sure you know which one is slot 1, etc? Slot 1 may or may not be the first physical slot and it may or may not be the slot closest to the CPU. Unfortunately, the manual doesn't show which one is slot 1.
I'll see if I can get a Dell tech to review your post and respond here...

Hello; I have a T3500 motherboard that I am putting into a custom built computer. I have read the compatibility list for the hardware that is going into it; but I have hit 2 speed bumps. The first is that I am try to get my heat sink onto my computer and it came with clips so I do not know what type of screws are needed to secure.
The second is that my front panel on my computer has two USB ports, Audio, and the LED light, to include the power button; and I was looking for the board to get for the front panel to make it work but as I was looking at the board there doesn't look like a place for the power switch to plug into. So is the power switch connected to the motherboard separately or where does it hook up to on the Board?
I have just tried talking to customer service and with out the service id they can't even recommend any parts that are compatible for the motherboard.

Dell website says it wasn't tested and no win10 drivers will be developed. Is it safe to set up a dual boot and try win10 that way?

A:Will Precision T3500 Run Win 10?

No that will not work. Windows 10 is a free upgrade for win 7 & 8.1 users and you must replace your current operating system or buy win 10 for $150-200. As a windows 10 tester and user, I recommend you stick with your current OS especially if you have windows 7. Windows 8.1 users who have Dell approved models might want to upgrade later on in the year. You have until July 29th 2016 to get the free upgrade.
Since Dell does not provide drivers for that model you would have to depend on win 10 for the right drivers. Wait until you replace the computer to get windows 10.

I'm not aware of any aftermarket heatsink that can be mounted due to the special heatsink mounting bracket that Dell uses on the Dell T3500/T5500/T7500 series.  You can buy a special heatsink on ebay that is a Dell original heatsink with a special fan mounted on it.  You might be able to mod your own heatsink.  Go to ebay and do a search for: T3500 Super Heatsink

So after responding to a user's post and having trouble scouring the internet for advice/answers. I wanted to make a FAQ for users looking at Dell T3500 models. Moderators, if this is in the wrong section feel free to move it. I think pinning it for members would be a good idea but others may think otherwise. Enjoy:)
Originally this was written on another forum but I decided to transfer it here as this is the home of Dells.
First and foremost...
Is the T3500 worth it?
It really depends on what you plan to use it for. My T3500 is a gaming rig, and runs games like Space Engineers, GTA V,Rust, CS:GO(and more) with very good frames. This also depends on the GPU you pick, but CPU wise, the cheap X5650 will get you around most games. I also use the T3500 for video editing, and rendering does need a pretty decent CPU. I wanna say the X5650 holds up well. No custom system will come close to the price of it. I payed about $30 for my x5650, and $120 for the system its self. pair that with a GTX 1050Ti(it does have a 6 pin GPU cable:thumb:) and you'll be on your way. You could probably get a T3500 with 6Gbs of ram for around $80, just scout around eBay till you find something good.
CPUs
I haven't heard of a LGA 1366 CPU that hasn't worked in the T3500, I am pretty sure most if not all work. I am happily running the famous Xeon X5650 2.66ghz in my build. My next upgrade would be a X5690 which should work.
Be sure to do the following if you have issues:

A:Dell T3500 Upgrading FAQ

Motherboard Upgrading
This has not been tested as far as I know, you're on your own here
I have found that Dell reused many parts in the T5500 series which made me wonder if a board swap is possible.
I've put together a comparison of the T5500 series and T3500 series. Notice that the only difference in the CPU riser in the unoccupied area of your T3500. In theory it should be possible, I will possibly try it in the future.

The T5500 motherboard seems to have everything the T3500 motherboard has.
T7500 motherboard?
The T7500 has a different layout(case wise) it would seem from the T3500/T5500 series however the motherboard seems to be very similar and should fit/work with the other parts inside your T3500. I can't guarantee this so you're on your own if you plan to do this. The requirements go for the T7500 as well.
The T7500 motherboard doesn't have much advantage over a T5500, you'll get a few extra SATA ports but nothing a SATA card can't do for you. The T7500 motherboards are a bit pricier too which is hard to justify over the T5500 but if you can find a cheap one, go for it.
Whats the point of upgrading my motherboard?
Upgrading to a T5500 motherboard would enable you to use a CPU riser which means a second CPU. You would be able to run ,for example, Dual X5650s together(which would show a 12 cores and 24 threads in Windows)
This could give you better performance in certain things. I only bring this up because T5500 dual Xeon versions can be a... Read more

Hello,
A while back I was given a used Dell T3500 and it's been serving me well, and now recently ... someone also gave me a used GTX 580  (I have generous friends)... I immediately looked into the power requirements and found that the stock PSU was not going to cut it, so I went out and grabbed an "EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B 80 Plus".
Upon assembly i immediately found that even though the CPU cable starts as an 8 pin, it terminates in 2 x 4 pin ATX plugs while the mother board's CPU socket is 8 pin "EPS". I didn't do enough homework.
: S
There are adapters available from 4 pin ATX to 8 pin EPS, but is there a way I can be sure I don't destroy my motherboard or PSU by using one?

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

A:New PSU for Dell T3500 ... 4 pin cpu cable, 8 pin socket

I actually went and looked at the stock PSU and read the specs and it started to make more sense. I was focused on the power of the 12v rails and didn't pay any attention to the 5 and 3.3 ones.  Didn't realize I was in a "reality distortion" field.
It's frustrating because things used to be way easier when matching these things up, and I don't have the cash to buy another new one right now... so this machine will stand inert until after I return this PSU and get enough for an appropriate one. I don't want to trash all the components just to make it run underpowered for a month or so.
Anyway thanks and no thanks. I actually read some of your other posts and thought "hey maybe if I post here maybe this guy will help me out". You have done so, but you have also reminded of the no one gives a [Admin NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU] how they make people feel on the web.

Hello,
I have a T3500 and I want to put an install of Windows 7 on it. Unfortunately, it has XP even though there is a Windows 7 COA on top of the box. I figure it should be easy, right?
I booted off the CD and hit "Install", when after a few moments I got "“A required CD\DVD drive device driver is missing” error when installing Microsoft Windows 7". Where do I get these device drivers?
I have tried many things: I went to the drivers section at www.dell.com/.../drivers, extracted the .inf files, put them in a folder on a USB drive, and told Windows to browse there. It found a driver but it hung forever. I went to Intel's site and grabbed some drivers; since the PC has a Bloomfield processor I grabbed 14.0.0.0.1143 at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25091/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-?product=55005 . No joy- it tells me that it can't find a compatible drivers (maybe because it provides functionality for Intel Series 9, 8, and 7 Chipsets...? And the T3500 has an ICH10 family... which would be series 10 Chipset...? )
I have gone to the BIOS and changed the RAID controller to be AHCI/auto-raid, and tried to install but that didn't help either.
What magical incantation am I missing? Thanks.

INTEL RST is VERY OLD on the T3500  You cant use 11.7 let alone 14.xxx  Newer and newer versions DROP support for ICH7 ICH8 ICH9 ICH10  this is NOT 10 series.
Intel Intel Rapid Storage Technology, v.9.6.0.1014
may be the oldest version you can use.
Larger than 2TB Drives requires a host bus adapter and or INTEL RST 10.1.0.1008 or higher.
The problem is that newer and newer versions of RST DO NOT SUPPORT OLDER AND OLDER versions of INTEL ICH aka ICH 4 5 6 7 8 9 10.  The higher you go the lower versions drop support.
Version 9.6 may be max for your motherboard.
I am sure that by the time you get to INTEL RST version 11.7 that your ICH aka Sata controller is NOT supported.
Trying to install when the system is in ATA mode instead of AHCI OR if the version of ICH is not supported will error with not supported hardware.
The INTEL RST 9.6  F6 Drivers can be put on a USB Flash drive and when AHCI is enabled for Sata operation it will load the drivers and see the disk.  If you do not load RST 9.6 or higher it will not "see the drive" and will not install.  Advanced format 4k drives started arriving in 2011.  At this point ALL NEW Drives are advanced format.  If you have an ancient 120 gig , 80 gig drive it won't need the drivers.   Most 160 Gig, 320 gig , 500 gig etc are 4k Advanced format Drives.  You have to extract the contents of the .zip file to a floppy or USB flash drive.  You cannot Point to a .zip file.... I have a quick question about the heatsink installed in my Precision T3500. There seems to be 2 different heatsink's that may be installed depending on the CPU's TDP.
There is this one

And there is the performance heatsink that seems to be for CPU's with a higher TPD

Now in my T3500 I have the smaller heatsink with no heatpipe's but since the CPU installed in it is the Intel Xeon W3550 (130W TDP) should it not have the bigger heatsink with the heatpipe's?
I am very interested in knowing the answer to this as while I am writing this post my CPU is basically idling but it is almost reaching 50 Celsius.

I have an old T3500 with a Xeon W3670 that I would like to move into a modern retail case.  But as we are aware, Dell uses proprietary front panel wiring harnesses.  Is there any practical way to put the Precision motherboard in a retail case and still be able to connect the various front panel wiring to the headers on the Dell board?  Adapters?
I'm willing to leave the IO Shield out of the new case since there is no way to move the old one to the new case.  Thanks.

Hi, i have problem with my Precision T3500. The issue is this, when i trying boot that machine, i got error 3 & 4 and fans goes at full speed. Here is my video with my problem:

I think is the motherboard problem. If anyone has a solution or answer for this I would be very grateful.

Hi lucky512,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
Request you to please remove the memory modules from the system, try one memory module at a time in each slot and then test the system. It could be the memory module or the memory slot on the motherboard causing the problem. You can also try these memory modules on another system to test. Memory error has occurred please refer to this link http://dell.to/1gOqfpM.
Please reply if you have any further questions.

I have seven T3500 workstations and need to replace the motherboard on one of them. After pouring through the forums I've found there were three revisions of the motherboards.
DELL P/N:
9KPNV
K095G
XPDFK
Below are the motherboard P/N and manufactured dates of the five T3500 workstations I've looked at so far.

P/N
MFG DATE:
K095G
15-JUN-09
K095G
24-JUN-09
XPDFK
11-DEC-09
9KPNV
02-SEP-10
9KPNV
25-FEB-11

I'd greatly appreciate it If someone could help me figure out which motherboard P/N is the latest revision.

A:Precision T3500 Motherboard Revisions

Looks like 9KPNV.  That said:
These older Precisions are prone to bad capacitors, and with the newest of these being six or more years old, if you can find a board where the seller can guarantee the capacitors have been replaced, even if it's an older revision - you're better off.
You're likely to find that just about any of these on which the electrolytic caps haven't been replaced is very likely to suffer capacitor failure in the near future.

We have 4 T3500's all with the W3503 Intel Xeon 2.4GHz Dual Core Processor. They all have the copper heatsinks. After a lot of research I found that they can be upgraded to any of the W35XX processors (just a question of what we want to pay). When I checked out the W3520, I found out that it was identical to the i7 920 processor.
Has anyone upgraded a T3500 with an i7 processor?

Hi there, I have 2 x 4GB Crucial CT51264BA160BJ Module and they have been happy working in DIMM slots 1 and 2 for a long while.
Today my system rebooted and reporting DIMM 2 is faulty. I swapped the DIMMS around and got the same message.
I have 3rd  DIMM (exact same as above) so i tried that and still reported DIMM2 as faulty.
The Modules I'm using are listed here and I believe they are compatible.

I've been thinking of upgrading to a used Precision T3500. I've looked on wikipedia and pdf's and saw that it comes with either a Xeon 3500, 5500 or 5600 series. Which series is the best one? I'm assuming the 5600 series is the best one. And if so, anyone know which cpu in this series is the best one offered for this particular system?
 Thanks

Hi. So I'm working on a friends Precision T3500 and when its plugged in the green 1,2,3 and 4 lights stay solid green on the front panel. When I push the test button on the back of the power supply the fans come on but as soon as I let go of the button they shut off. There are also know beeps during any of this. I have tried another new power supply and get the same results. I think everything is fried as their house got hit with a lightning surge and some other electronics died as well. Any thought? Thanks.

"When I push the test button on the back of the power supply the fans come on but as soon as I let go of the button they shut off." thats how the BIST button works.
Sounds like Fried ram, cpu, motherboard.

"Patch Tuesday" broke our install of Outlook 365. It was working fine on Monday and on Tuesday it was hanging on "Processing." So I restored back to the last restore point before the update and it worked great after that. Yesterday it re-installed the updates, and again Outlook didn't load. Restoring again today "fixed" it. Now it wants to update again, so I will disable updates until the problem is fixed. I don't know which particular "patch" is causing the problem; there were about 22 of them that installed.

I have a Dell Precision T3500 workstation. I want to install a PCIe SSD in this workstation. Please advise is it possible?

A:PCIe SSD installation on Dell Precision T3500

It's likely to work as a storage device -- but it won't work if your intention is to use it as your boot drive.
This system is far too old to support booting from a PCIe/NVMe SSD.

A:Graphics card upgrade for T3500 Workstation.

Hi PPW3,
Here is the spec sheet for the T3500. You'll see which cards are certified for use.
This is not a consumer machine so consumer video cards are not certified by Dell.

Hi to all on Dell's Forum:
I am new on this forum and its first time to ask a question on any forum.
My first question: What are enhancement in dell t3500 new bios update for the whole hardware in dell t3500?
i.e "A17"
My second question: Does Dell t3500 can support pc3 12800 NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 like Corsair Vengeance or kingston hyperX. Does A17 Bios can run pc3 12800 at 1600 MHz, because dell bios are not too flexible, I have googling too much and I mostly found that dell t3500 only support 1066 and 1333 MHz. Some particular  processors are only support 1333Mhz like xeon W3580 etc, rest of all processors operate with 1066 Mhz.
But I have little doubt when I have opened these links:

I have mostly used this pc for home tasks like gaming, internet, office works, music etc. As a gaming rig I want to upgrade more memory for gaming with non ecc pc3 12800 at 1600 module.
Please help me in that issue. All your kind comments, assistance and suggestions are highly appreciated.

A:Dell Precision T3500 Memory Configuration

ESANELAHI,
BIOS: I'm not certain of the enhancements, but I'm quite certain updating to the latest BIOS is recommended.Much has happened since the T3500 was made- operating systems, commonality of SSD's and etc.
Memory:  The T3500 may use up to 24GB ECC or non DDR3 ECC RAM at speeds up to 1333.:
www.dell.com/.../q2wk6_dell_precision_t3500_spec_sheet.pdf
As far as I know, DDR3 1600 speed memory if used may be recognized, but would run at 1333 as the Xeon 5600-series support 1066 and 1333 speeds.   In my experience, the best way to ensure successful memory upgrades is to concult the specifications- see above, and then remove a RAM module and record the exact information on the RAM used in the system. You will see if it's single or dual ranked, that's the "1R X8 or "2R x8", ECC or non-ECC, and if it's ECC, if registered or unbuffered. If it's ECC and used with the X58 chipset which uses triple-channel RAM,  I have a vague memory that you need to use "registered" memory which was more common in servers.  I've never used non-ECC RAM,  but I believe that ECC and non-ECC use different slots, and you would have to use whichever type the slots mounted on the motherboard require.
If the RAM is ECC, the best specification might be something like: "1Rx8 PC3-10600R"- single rank DDR3 1333 registered ECC.  Single rank is a bit faster as the signal is passing through fewer chips. That is n... Read more
