[Resolved] Internet Explorer Error When I Close Window (Flash, Shockwave)

Q: [Resolved] Internet Explorer Error When I Close Window (Flash, Shockwave)

Hello, I have a brand new dell. Less then 2 days old. Computer is running great, super fast. But i already am running into a small problem. When i close internet explorer after visiting a simple website like yahoo or google it closes fine. But when i close a site that contains a flash game or shockwave game an error message pops up. With the windows report box. It dosn't give any info about the error, just that it should be reported. Any Glue? It's so hard to uninstall IE in XP, and re-install won't work either. Thanks in advance! ~Jordan~

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

There is a problem in which Flash Player stops once during the operation of the business portal currently operating based on Flash Player, so please contact us.

As a result of the verification, it is confirmed that it is not related to Adobe's Flash Player and is related to the function of Shockwave Flash Object installed in Windows 10 Internet Explorer 11.

Therefore, I would like to know whether it is possible to delete and reinstall the Shockwave Flash Object function.
And I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade or downgrade only the version of the Shockwave Flash Object (or any other related function) while leaving the version of Internet Explorer.

Thank you.

One of today's Microsoft updates supposedly deals with the repeated problems users experience when they try to install the Macromedia Shockwave / Flash Players in Internet Explorer.

All this time I've seen numerous attestations from users (including me, in multiple pc's and os-ie configurations) regarding problems (or, more accurately, utter failure) when it came to installing those Macromedia Players.

So, I suggest all frustrated users to visit the Internet Explorer ActiveX update page and follow MS' advice to download and install what you have to.

Bear in mind, though, that if you have the Player(s) installed or unsuccessfully tried to install them, you'll need first to take some additional steps. You'll find useful information in other relevant TSF threads and in Adobe's website.

A:Macromedia Shockwave / Flash Player problems solved in Internet Explorer?

I just wanted to know why you said Macromedia Shockwave/Flash Player. Because aren't they Adobe now as mentioned in your post Adob's website. I sometimes get confused whay people still call them Macromedia if they are adobe now. What happend to Macromedia anyway whenever I try to go to their website it ends up takeing me to adobe. Did adobe take over them or was Macromedia a branch of adobe I don't really pay attention to these things so I just ask.

I am basically computer illiterate. My darling Hubby removed some downloaded internet stuff from our computer. ever since I cannot respond to e-mails or games that require me to open a window in a window. I think I'm saying that right. I have called all the support systems I can find and shy of paying a bundle or having the puter wiped clean and reloaded I am drained. When you opena program (for example) Pogo.com (my favorite spot)and you log in pick a game you reach a place that says choose a room. If you click on a room you get a large frame and it does nothing. I'm sure this has something to do with the Java but what I don't know. Help !!! I am a little (well not quite) old(very) lady(?) and I really miss my pogo games.

Error mesage: IE has encountered an error with this site and must close. send error report appears, do send or not, IE closes and restarts, Reports tab is recovered and then goes round the loop again and again.

Friend instructed following:
Options/ browser history- SetDiskspace used to 50 (was 1024)!
open Advanced tab/click restore advanced settings. close.
Open tools/Manage add ons, disable or remove all unwanted add ons.
Restart IE
This worked ok so repeated on 2nd PC.
This worked,
Went to 1st PC and the problem reappeared after a few minutes
Same on 2nd PC.
Did complete AVG virus scan and spybot scan on both with no problems.

IE8 still not working

See the picture below for the screen shot of the error that I'm getting. I get this on a variety of pages, and it's quite aggregating. Just, out of the blue it comes up with this error (usually when I first try to open a page). I've gone as far as installing the latest version of flash player, and upgraded from v1.x to v2 of FireFox, and I still get this error message. I believe that I get it in IE, but I never use IE at home so I honestly don't remember if I get that error or not....ACK!!!!!!!!!!! I just tried IE to see if I could get that error, so I looked up Newzjunkie and clicked on the google result that should've brought me to the newzjunkie website...but it brought me elsewhere.....can you say "hijacked"? It brought me to www.ad.com instead.....grrrr... Any chance that the shockwave error and the hijacking are caused by the same thing? Although, I don't get hijacked in FireFox.... Here's the screen shot...I'm going to run some scans to see if I can't fix what's hijacked me

I am having strange problems with IE7.

On my PC with XP:HE with SP2 and all other updates, I have 2 users. On one user, IE works perfectly. On the other user I have a number of strange problems.

1) Firstly, IE always wants to go to "http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx" and there is a blank blue screen. I attempted to follow the solutions in the other thread (http://www.techsupportforum.com/f56/...ed-153102.html) but none work for the following reasons:

-gpedit.msc cannot be found (i think this is because i have home edition not pro edition xp)
-In the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main registry key there is no string called "RunOnceHasShown" so i can't change this to 1. I tried adding it in as a string but it didn't work.
-the trusted zone work around did not work either.

2) The second error i have is that on most pages there is a warning triangle in the bottom left of the page next to "done" or it says "error on this page". If I try to click on the triangle to find out about the error i get a blank Script error box with yes or no boxes at the bottom. I can click both but they dont do anything and the error message remains. I also get the error message if i press "ctrl+f" to open the search box. I will upload a screenshot of this error message after i've posted.

I use Chrome, and for a while now Shockwave Flash has been crashing on me when I try to watch videos. If I restart my computer it will sometimes fix the issue temporarily, but eventually it will crash again. I've dug around for some solutions and found that in some cases people were able to fix their crashes by disabling the IDT audio codec, which didn't help in my case. What scares me about my error, which I've screenshotted below, are the strange Asian characters lining the error message. It makes me think that I should suspect something more malicious than just a simple Shockwave error. Malware Bytes and SuperAnti-Spyware scans come up clean, though.

Just a few other bits of information:
Videos from IGN are especially affected.
Also, sometimes the browser will lock up and become unresponsive when loading pages with lots of advertisements. It's as if the browser loads the site fine, but then stalls when it has to load "ad.doubleclick" or something similar... I assume just advertisements?

Anyway, should I just keep looking for a solution involving the IDT audio (or do you guys have one?), which is known to cause problems, or is this strange Asian character error message I've been getting a sign of undetected malware that I should be worried about?

Any help would be much appreciated!

We have IE 6. Say a user goes to MSN.com. The ad on the right is a Flash object. Some of our users will see that object flickering when scrolling up or down on the page or when hovering their mouse over it. It's quite annoying. Almost all users are running Adobe Flash Player 9, but I think I've seen this happen on systems with Macromedia Flash Player 8 as well. Other systems don't have the problem. I've seen this happen on one system and not another while both seemed to have the same Flash objects installed.

Uninstalling all Flash players using Adobe's prescribed Flash Player uninstall tool seems to work at first, but users later complain again. Note that they just about always end up installing Flash Player 9 again, because sites ask for it. I don't believe I've seen this on any XP systems at all, including my own, but most of our users have Win2K.

Does anybody know why this happens or how to permanently fix it?

SWF files (at least the one at www.stormwerks.com/linked/stuf/AYB2.swf) work without a problem when using Adobe Flash Player 9.

If I don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed, the Win2K machines prompt me to install them for almost any site that uses Flash (I guess most recent Flash objects cannot be viewed with the older Macromedia Flash Players).

Any suggestions?

Most of the time when I visit sites with Flash my Internet Explorer crashes and re-starts. The error log shows that Flash.ocx is what is causing the problems. When I unistall the flash player the problem goes away but I am unable to display rich content from the web sites. I have tried re-installing the flash player with new installations of both Version 6 and Version 7 with same results. I am virus and spyware free and this machine is completely clean and pest-free since it's a clean install of OS and all anti-virus, firewall, and other software. OS is Windows 2000 SP4 running on AMD Athlon XP 2200 with 1 GB RAM. Anyone had a similar experience or know of a fix?

Hi All!

When I close out Internet Explorer and i return to my desktop I get a program called "Purity Scan" saying that it is closing and then states that it can't close. I don't know what "purity scan" is but I then have to manual say "end now"

Any recommendations to fix this problem? I have Windows XP loaded on the desktop.

A:prgoram won't close when I close Internet Explorer

See if its in your Add / Remove Programs. If so use this feature to get rid of it.

Here are posts regarding same on another forum -

Not sure but Spybot Search & Destroy may help to completely delete all traces of this Purity Scan. Get Spybot from here :

Once you have it - Run - click Online - Check for Updates - once you have them - close IE and in Spybot click Check for Problems and have it Fix all checked.

If it still persists please post back here.

I recently bought a new Dell PC with Windows 10 and have an issue when starting the PC. The PC starts normally but upon operational the PC freezes for a moment. Then I am unable to load pages in my browser (main browser is Chrome but the same happens with Edge) and after several minutes some pages load very (extremely) slowly. However, I noticed that videos (e.g., youtube ), still do not load. Pinned programs to my task bar change from unresponsive to possible to open and back. Within Chrome I also get a “Page unresponsive” message after few minutes for open pages and that “A plugin (Shockwave Flash) isn’t responding”. For instance I can use this forum without any issues but at the same time I cannot load the dell page at all. I am also unable to play an AVI file already on my PC. After restarting several times and waiting some time (>30 min) it suddenly works again without any issues. What could it be and how can I fix it? All help appreciated!

Hello. You might have better luck by posting on one of the operating system boards, or the internet board.

everytime i exit from my documents and my computer i this error mesage, have tried to scan several times fro spywares and adwares no result.I have symantec antivirus ,supersantispyware.advance window care, wise registry cleaner ,ccleaner spyware blaster installed on my laptop:

A:window explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close

Well the first thing to note is, we do not condone the use of registry cleaners. They do not always work as intended and have a tendency to cause more problems than they fix.

The first thing I would do if I were in your position would be to run the system file checker.
Go to the Run box on the Start Menu and type in:

sfc /scannow ( sfc if not reconized) (Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)

This command will immediately initiate the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replacing any files with which it finds a problem.
In all likelihood you will be prompted to insert the Windows XP CD.

There is no 64-bit Shockwave player, only 32-bit, you need to use IE 32-bit.

I've checked all of those choices at different times but nothing changes. I still keep getting that pop up "error report". How can I stop it? I don't know of anything that I did to cause it.
