Image Toolbar "print picture" option not working

Q: Image Toolbar "print picture" option not working

When I select print, in Internet Explorer, using the Image toolbar, nothing
happens. I get the same result if I right click an image and select "print
picture". Printing is fine using any other method. I can even highlight the
picture in the web page and then select Print > Selection and that prints
OK.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Preferred Solution: Image Toolbar "print picture" option not working

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all
Previously the  "Save Picture"  box would put a web generated title in the box and automatically selected JPEG.  Now the title box reads "untitled" and the only file options offered are "png" & "bmp"

Please note that a similar post has appeared, but the solution did not match the fault.  I'm seeking to restore the automatic response to save picture, that might have been upset by antivirus clean-up programme.

Thank youin advance for considering my problem

Hello,

I have tried to find an answer to this but cannot. Lately, I noticed my User Account Picture was not the picture I had selected. In addition, the Background Picture for my Windows 7 Home Premium edition log on screen was changed. This happened after running a program that is for exams at school which reboots your computer into a safe mode where the only program available is a rudimentary word processor.

I contacted the company that makes that software, Examsoft, and they told me how to get my default logon picture for my Windows Logon background back.

To address the User Account picture, I went into Control Panel > User Accounts and attempted to "change picture". This is not an option, however, for my administrator user account. It is an option for my guest account. I tried cloning my account without the bad .dat files, but that didn't work either as the new account I had created, also an administrator account, did not display a "change picture" option in control panel either.

I ran sfc /scannow, and it found no errors.

I am not sure what to do. Has anyone encountered this? Can you please help me?

Attached is a screen shot:

Thank You.

When I have Internet explorer opened in "kiosk mode" on one monitor and I open a hyperlink from the other monitor it will open the link in a new IE window (non-full screen) .    If I do the same test with IE not in "kiosk mode"
the hyper link will open in the open window/tab.

I have Internet Options -- Tab settings "Open links from other programs in"  set to "the current tab or window".

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I recently installed Examsoft on my computer (a program to take exams in law school). After I installed it and rebooted my computer, some weird things happened. When I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Del, the only option available was "Switch User" and all the other ones were gone (Lock this computer, Start task manager, etc.). I eventually downloaded the registry keys that were needed to get back all the other options. The options to restart, shut down, hibernate, and sleep were also missing whe I clicked on the arrow on the start menu. I also downloaded the registry key to get those back.

However, the problem that still remains is that when I open User Accounts in control panel, the option to change the user picture is gone and on the start menu the box that is supposed to contain the picture above my username is blank. Also under user accounts, the "Manage your file encryption certificates" option is also gone. Does anyone know how I can get these options back? Thanks.

Hi,

When our website users click on an html attachment embedded on a web-page in IE9, the download manager will not display the "Open" option. It will only display "Save" and "Cancel" which our users don't like, having to save the
html document in a folder to open it. Whereas, when downloading attachments like pdf, word etc. all three options are displayed.

Is there any setting to tweak , which will display all the 3 options for HTML attachments as well?

A:IE9 download manager will not display "Open" option (only "Save" and "Cancel" is displayed) for downloading HTML documents.

Hi,
As you know, the Open-Save-Cancel dialog box helps you prevent your computer from affecting by virus while downloading.
So I suggest you test to reset all zones to a lower level temporarily and then please attempt to download this html attachment again.

However, since you can normally download the other documents, I suspect there is some restriction in the website which you are trying to view. I recommend you to contact the administrator of that website if possible.
could you please send me the link of the website from where you are trying to download the html attachment?
Thanks!

Hi All,

I work at a small, crazy, non profit. On my old computer (windows 7 64 bit), I could select multiple word/pdf documents (up to 10) and then right click and select "print" to batch print the documents. On my new computer (also win7 64) the option is missing entirely, and I don't see how to add it.

Any ideas?

I have a computer that is dual booted with windows 7 and windows 10. My windows 7 operating system is very slow and malfunctioning. But I have an old system image backup when my windows was healthy and fast. So I want to restore Windows 7 from this image. But I don't want to format and damage Windows 10 that I installed recently. So here is my question: I saw an option to exclude disks for not restoring or formatting specific disks from restoring. So will this option work for bootable disks so that my windows 10 drive remains unchanged? Can anyone answer me if anyoneknow or has done this restore before? Thank you.

After browsing through many of the threads here I have decided to post my own as I am unable to come to any conclusions.

MSI, Pentium 4 1.9GHz, 2x60 GB HD (Maxtor ???), 2x256MD DDR-266

It wonīt boot at all - none of the F8 boot options work, which I have tried several times after recieving the following error:

Dialog Box Heading: WINLOGON.EXE - Bad Image
Message (not exactly): c:\windows\WnSxS\xxxxxxxxxWindows.Common.Controlsxxxxxxxxxxxx - bad image

I have used the Recovery Console to browse around a bit to see if I can trace what happened, find suspisious files, looking at *.log files etc. Nothing.

All attempts to boot (all boot options) result in the same situation: the regular WinXP load screen appears, then it turns black, mouse appears and there I sit waiting for the login screen. I am still able to move mouse, but no other actions have any effect.

I have had the machine for 2 years and never had any serious issues and I have kept drivers and Xp updated (except I havenīt installed SP2 yet).

Thanks for anything that might help.

PS! Reinstall is not an option (yet)

Hello Harold, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Double check to make sure that you have the native screen resolution set for your monitor. Next double check to make sure that you still have the display DPI settings set to the default 96 DPI. The larger the %, the larger everything will appear in Windows 7 that would leave windows cut off like that.

Hope this helps,

Hi guys, thanks ahead of time first off. This is odd, just tonight I got on Google Image Search and noticed that after showing all the thumbnails, once a thumbnail is clicked upon, it takes me right to the page without ever showing that 1 inch deep tab at the top it usually would stating "View Image in Full Size" and image my be copyrighted etc.... I have never seen this before. I rebooted the comp and it still does the same thing. I used system restore to a week ago and that solved the problem bringing the bar back LoL....but I had to undo it as the resotre caused a problem with my McAfee Antivirus! Arghhh....
Is this a simple settings thing I can fix? I am curious if it's a Google thing or an Internet Explorer 7 thing... I have Windows XP and its a Dell computer. On our other older computer it comes up normal with the bar as it always would on this one. I am not terrible computer literate but try my best. You guys always help out, so I appreciate this very much.

Thanks a ton again,

Well I spoke too soon....I apologize, I was going to delete this post but figured I would add what fixed it. I went to Yahoo and did an image search, and found that it gives you the "Full Size" option just like Google does. Then I shut the browser and fired up Google to mess with it more and Low and Behold it worked fine....what the heck LoL! Oh well it's fixed!

Hi MrMogwai,

Welcome to the community.

There is a possibility that recovery partition might have gone corrupt on the system. You could try clean installing windows be following the link below:

Hi there. Recently I've been wanting to do a video game gameplay/commentary video similar to JonTron or AVGN. Yesterday I spent a bunch of time getting everything set up. I use the official PS3 wireless USB headset with a microphone.
What I did yesterday was to set my laptop's speakers as the default device and plug headphones in to activate the sound card, since Windows makes the USB from my headset be the sound card when it is plugged in.
I sent my microphone to the speakers, and the speakers to the Stereo Mix, and checked "Listen to this device" so I could listen to the game in my headphones while I played. It worked great yesterday, but today it won't.
I get a signal talking into my mic, but no matter what I do I cannot get "Listen to this device" to do anything for my microphone. Yesterday if I did that I would hear my voice in my headset (for testing). Once I set my speakers as the default playback device (as I did yesterday) I lose audio in my headset and can't get it back unless I set it as the default.
Is this a driver issue? I didn't change anything from yesterday when it worked. Sorry for the long explanation!

The "Idle-time Full System Scan" in Norton 360 v4 is bogging down my computer constantly, and there is no option to turn it off in "Automatic Tasks".

I contacted Norton and (after several attempts to find someone at Norton who could understand what I just said above and getting "hung-up" on over Norton chat. Inexcusable!!!) I was able to get a hold of a technician who told me that Norton intentionally removed this option "for security reasons, because they didn't want people turning it off".

The problem is, people will then be forced to turn it off by turning off ALL scheduled tasks (under "Settings/Scheduling/Schedule:Manual Schedule") and that is an even worse security problem than the relatively small one that would be created by turning off idle-time full system scanning.

Once the system has completed a full system scan, all files are on-access scanned anyway, so running a full system scan every 3-4 days is rather silly and extremely annoying--especially, because it will continue to try to run every time the system is idle if you cancel it.

A warning urging the user to not turn off idle-time full system scans without fully understanding the risks, and after explaining the risks, would be VERY preferable. Or at least the option to run the full system scans when the system is idle on a certain day of the month/week! The schedule for idle-time full system scans really needs to be separate from other tasks. In fact, t... Read more

Is anyone else seeing this? I've spent a day or so trying to QUERY and SET HKLM\Software\Key FLAGS using REG.EXE on Windows7. All it does is endlessly repeat the REG.EXE FLAGS /? help display. The
exception is if the parameters are entered incorrectly, it then displays a syntax error.

I'm running as Administrator on an up-to-date brand new Windows 7 installation. I try the same commands on a Vista system and they work just fine. I don't see anyone else having this problem so I suspect there must be something I'm doing wrong.
I've examined the properties of REG.EXE on both versions:
The Vista version is: 6.0.6000.16386 1/18/2008 59k
The Windows7 version is: 6.1.7600.16385 7/13/2009 61k
I read many articles on UAC and even one on attempting to manipulate FLAGS via API:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.06.uac.aspx
http://www.computersplace.com/in-vista-how-does-the-flags-switch-of-regexe-work/virtualization
On a Vista laptop:

reg flags hklm\software query

Worked fine. Then I went ahead and used RegEdit to add a hklm\software\test key, and set its flags with:

reg flags hklm\software\test set dont_virtualize recurse_flag

And it worked fine as well.

A:Windows 7 "reg.exe flags" option not working at all?

Rob,
I did the test on my windows 7 system and i could perform the command without any problem (i have the same version of your executable). So most likely you have a 3rd party application that messes with reg.exe.

Try to perform the command with your antivirus disabled.
Try the command in safemode and if those not work try a clean boot.(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796/en-us).

I am running Windows 10 Professional 64 bit. Whenever I set the option "Turn off the display" to "Never", it reverts back to the default "15 minutes". This is under the "High Performance" profile. I have never, since Windows 3.11, ever had a setting change itself back. I have tried to change it and restart. It will either revert upon restart or shortly after. It will revert back even if I do not restart.

A:Power Option for "Turning off display" remains at "15 minutes"

That sounds like my problem - I leave the computer for an hour and it is shut down (I think sleep mode). I just need to hit the power button and it comes on to where it was when I left - but 2 of my USB devices are lost so I have to restart the computer anyway.

I changed all the power settings to NEVER. But his doesn't seem to make any difference......

Hey everyone,
I am trying to get the REST queries to work with the sharepoint end points instead of graph end points. I first created an app with relevant permissions and have given it the admin consent. Then I am hitting the https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/token?Content-Type=application/x-www-form-urlencoded end
point with https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com as resource. I am then using the access token retrieved to give the rest call to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/v2.0/drives/b!3indYSbqZ0-hVSPnCgIZy-2xDMh7jH9AuQnEzJMc6TEfQoSJvJT-R6tT0lFBQiPr/root/delta
but it is failing with "error":{"code":"generalException","message":"General exception while processing"}}. The REST response code is 401 Unauthorized. I have filed a Microsoft support ticket but they
have asked me to post on these forms. Can someone please help me with this? I am not able to move forward because the error is pretty generic and doesn't give any additional details.
Thanks,

XP Home (installed SP2 recently, which MIGHT have something to do with this?).

Just saved two word docs and a bmp file, all separately. All three times I saw that a new location has been added to the Save As drop-down menu. It didn't open to My Documents folder but was in the general folder list of the whole computer. The location was called "FTP File Locations." It's never appeared on the Save As menu before. This made me think of the file/print sharing control, which is now located in the Windows Firewall, but I don't use that Firewall, I turned it off to use Norton. What was FTP Locations? And is there any way to disable file/print sharing without using the Windows Firewall? (These may be the same thing, I don't know.) Also, in Network Connections, I thought I'd find file/print sharing control there, but now XP wants me to run a whole Network Wizard thing..I'm afraid I'll somehow set up a network instead! or enable all kinds of things..I don't want to create a disaster here.

(My son installed an FTP program months ago for work he was doing, but the program was removed. I just searched for it, it's definitely gone.)

This is a stand-alone, non-networked home computer.

P.S. I saved another Word doc and now it's back to opening to My Documents folder as usual..now I can't find the FTP Locations anywhere.

Howdy everybody!
When I hit the Windows & Print Screen keys, it is supposed to generate a picture of my Desktop into a Folder, within Pictures, labelled “Screenshots.”
But there is no such "ScreenShots" folder there!
What should I do? If I simply create a new folder, and label it “Screenshots,” will do that do the trick?  Or is there a more complicated fix?
Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Recently my computer is giving error messages for .exe tasks. I counted over twenty upon start ups and after. Bump.

I see on the HijackThis log, line 020 is the line that I'm getting on the error messages regarding bad image. So now, my husband uninstalled the Google download he did before and also uninstalled the folders with Google in them. For many years, I've used the Generic / Text Only virtual printer driver to convert Web pages and other files to plain text with minimal formatting, but the last time I used it, the resulting file was peppered with unnecessary spaces, making it close to indecipherable when viewed in a text editor. Has some recent update changed the way this driver works (or, in my case, doesn't work)?

I've attached two files to illustrate the problem: filler.html contains a few paragraphs of boilerplate text, and filler.prn is the result I get from loading filler.html into Firefox and printing it to the Text Only "printer". (Both files were renamed to filler.*.txt to conform to this forum's limitations for uploaded files.) Note that the output file is more than ten times the size of the input file; if you examine it with a hex editor, you'll see that the increased size of the output is due to many sequences of a carriage return (without a linefeed) and several spaces being unnecessarily inserted in the output stream every few characters. I imagine if this were sent to a 1970s-era printer, the defects in the output would be invisible on the page, but since the whole point of the Text Only driver is to bypass any physical printer, I don't understand this change in behavior. Is there any way to prevent this and get back to the output I'm used to?

A:"Text Only" print driver no longer working?

Are you trying to print from a command window, or from Notepad/wordpad. It helps to know what mfg & model of printer you have.

A:No "ScreenShots" Folder in Pictures To Hold " Print Screen" Images!

Is it just saving the screenshots somewhere else or is it just not taking screenshots at all? Don't know about your specific system, but on my Win 10 lappy, the screen blinks (dims) when the screenshot is taken.
Did you look in all the subfolders in Pictures to see if Screenshots folder is buried in one of them?
Win 10 also has a Snipping Tool which will allow you to put a box around the part of the screen you want to capture and then you can save it wherever you want. Maybe that's easier, and you can pin the Snipping Tool to the Start menu so it's easy to find.

Hello - Am using Windows XP and a Brother printer HL-1230

Following a change of printer cartridge I was unable to print.

Printers and faxes via Control Panel is empty. Attempt to add printer - get message "Print spooler not working". Follow MS Support and go to Admin Tools / Services / Printer spooler service. Service type already on Automatic, click Start button for immediate start and status now shows "Started" rather than the previous "Stopped".

Shortly afterwards get MS error message that "Spooler Subsystem App needs to close"
Go back to Services and find that the print spooler status has reverted to "Stopped" I try this process again and end up again with a "Stopped" spooler
I see that Microsoft acknowledges there are problems in this area.
Any ideas as to how I can return to and keep "Started" status would be much appreciated.

Hi,
We have a problem with Windows 7 (Professional) running on a Lenovo X250 laptop.  The "Back up now" feature does not work , but the "Create a system image'  feature does work.   "Back up now" feature had been working
before in the past, but now clicking on the icon does nothing.  No response.  We backup this laptop to an external USB drive that has plenty of diskspace left.  I also tried backing up to a new drive but no response, so I don't think it's the
drive.
There are no error messages in the event viewer and no error message ever appears onscreen.   Clicking on "Back up now"  has no affect.
I'm thinking maybe a patch or recent update is somehow interfering with the backup software.
I have searched Google and found people with a similar problem due to the fact they installed Acronis backup software, but we never used  Acronis.
I briefly looked in the Registry but didn't see anything obviously wrong.
Has anyone had this problem before?  Or can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can see a pattern between the software that works and doesn't work on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop.

In the past month (Jan-Feb 2011) a lot of the software I use to edit or display images and graphics will no longer run (crashes). System: Windows 7 64 bit SP1. 3 GB RAM, 500 GB HD Acer 6492 laptop with mobile intel 965 express graphics card. Windows Update reports it is up to date.

I don't get BSOD, just that when I start one of the affected programs, it fails to run and shuts down.Windows continues to run fine. I either get "___ has encountered a problem and needs to close" or "___ has stopped working, Windows is searching for a solutio to the problem".

Programs that won't run:
Google Earth neither Directx nor GL
PhotoPlus X4
Paintshop Pro X3
Xara Designer Pro 6

Programs that run fine
Picasa
PanoramaPlus
PanoramaStudio
SmartDraw
World Wind

I wonder what is the pattern or common denominator.

Symptom started roughly when I installed a new 500 GB drive (Seagate Momentus XT with 4GB RAM buffer 7200 RPM) in place of the 500 GB non-hybrid 5400 RPM drive. This is the 4th drive I've had in this laptop 160GB -> 320 GB -> 500 GB -> 500 GB with 4 GB buffer. Each time I had a Norton Ghost image of the C: drive, installed the new drive and restored the image to the C: drive. Windows fires up without a hitch. On some software I had to re-activate the licence as I guess the software noticed a change in ... Read more

Seems you did everything you could, however, have you run (full scan) of your anti-virus and malware software. Not sure if it would help, but it cannot hurt. Also you might attempt reinstalling the last HDD to see if there isn't a problem there. If not then it would be wise to attempt to reformat the 500 to see if that is the problem. Good Luck.

Hello sattyaji, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It may still be showing if the system image was created as part of a Windows backup. Using the tutorial below to reset Windows Backup should clear it for you, but you will need to set up your backup again afterwards.

A:"Return computer to factory condition" or "Use A System Image Crea..."

Hello M4TE and welcome to Seven Forums. Sorry for the delay in responding but I just came across your question.

Most newer manufactured computers have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive. The manufacturer provides specific instructions on how to access that partition in case you want to restore your machine to the exact condition it was in when it left the factory. That means you'd have to go through the time consuming process of cleaning out factory bloatware (like free trials of programs you'll never need), installing programs you do need, updating everything, creating your personal settings, etc. Here is a general idea of how to access the hidden recovery partition.

HP Recovery From Partition

Let's say it took you a day or two to set up your machine to your liking using the hidden recovery partition. A System Image is like a snapshot of your entire hard drive. It will include everything from the operating system to all your programs, files, photos, music, all updates ... everything. Most folks keep it on a separate external hard drive. Let's say a week later you get a virus or your machine crashes for some reason. You can use that System Image to return your machine to the exact condition it was in when you made the image. Usually takes about 30 minutes or so and you're back in business. It's a lot faster and more convenient to only worry about a week of updates compared to probably months with the hidden recovery partition. The newer a System Image is the... Read more
