can't install Power Manager

Q: can't install Power Manager

Hi, I'm running a T61P, Win7 Ent/SP1. System Update repeatedly showed Power Manager 6.67.5 as available after repeated successful updates. I DLd the update and tried to run it manually, but it kept telling me there was an earlier version of PM installed, and did I want to remove it. I said yes, and it seemed to uninstall (and reboot), but trying to run the PM update kept showing the "previous version installed" prompt. I used Add/Remove to uninstall both PM and the PM driver, then searched the registry and removed all references to PM from there, then sarched the hard drive and removed all PM files I could find. I still can't install PM. It's still telling me that there's an earlier version installed. I tried downloading and installing previous versions of PM back to v3, but I still get that frustrating "previous version" prompt and can't get beyond that. Please does anybody have a way to get past this prompt? GaryK

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

After spending $99 on a paid Lenovo tech-support instance that required days of fighting to get through to an ultimately clueless level-2 tech (he tried to use RevoUnistallPro to uninstall a directory containing a downloaded-but-uninstalled version of Power Manager), I solved this on my own and am here posting the solution in case anyone else runs into a similar problem--inability to install Power Manager upgrades with the error message that a previous install exists: Search in the registry for and delete all found occurrences of PWRMGR and PWRMGRV. Once there were gone I was able to install the current Power Manager instance for Win7 (6688 as of this posting). GaryK

Hello. I'm having issues with my t450S not being able to go in to sleep mode. Everything I've read says that these two programs have major issues with Windows 10 and could be the source of my problem. I go to uninstall and it says that the program can't run on this version of Windows. Ok, so I have tried many of the solutions offered in this forum and nothing has worked thus far: * c:\swtools\readyapps\pwrmgrv\setup.exe -l0x9 -AddRemove* change compatibility mode of programs and try then* straight up add/remove button Please let me know what I can do to get these off my system (without reverting back to Windows 7).  Thank you!

Okay-I'm confused. And,I've been wondering about this since I bought this pc about 2 years ago ! I have a Compaq Presario (HP) CQ57-229WM Notebook PC that I bought from Wal-Mart a couple of years ago and this machine seems to have TWO "power plans" on it ! Why ???

It has the HP Power Manager & the regular Win 7 Power Options settings Can anyone give me some advice about which one of these I should go with ? Can I remove the HP Pwr. Mgr. ? SHOULD I remove the HP Power Mgr. ? WHY are there TWO power plans on ONE pc ??? I don't get it. Someone PLEASE enlighten me ! Did HP put this on my pc just to confuse me ????? Helllllllllllllllppppppppppp !!!!!!!!!

Ruh,roh...I just found a post regarding the exact same issue on this site by Googling.Sorry guys. But,still feel free to comment if you'd like.

A:Win 7 Power Options or HP Power Manager ??

HP Factory Install is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have, larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities which interfere with better versions built into Win7. That's why most tech enthusiasts won't even run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Everything needed is in the blue link to get and keep a perfect install just like a million others have done without a single complaint.

If you'd rather first try to clean it up you can try these steps to Clean Up Factory Bloatware
but HP is the worst of all brands for its bloatware so if you ever want to experience native perfect Win7 performance on that machine I'd do the reinstall.

Hello All:

I have a HP DV6275US, Pavillion DV6000 with Vista Home Premium on it and I am trying to go to XP. Dual booting is too much of a ruckus and I do not like it anyways, so I bought a Scorpio to install it on.

When I installed the Scorpio, it initially would not detect the drive, so I disabled SATA Auto. in the BIOS, and it then recognized it.

So, I start to install XP, formatted fine, copied sys. files fine, but when I got to the actual GUI install it asked me if I wanted to install a driver for my battery, which could possibly disrupt installation, so I choose yes and anyways and it proceeded fine for about a minute, then power failure. Tried again, and again, and same thing.

I put my Vista HDD back in, a Seagate 160GB, and things worked fine.

I have read something about having to manually load the drivers for the nVidia RAID chipset, as the ones XP Install loads do not suffice. I could not find any problems about the battery, so please, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

I am trying to install the basic drivers for my OfficeJet printer/scanner on my Windows 7 64bit computer. The driver downloads and unpacks fine, but instead of opening the hp installer it opens the ATI Catalyst Installer.
I have run CCleaner to scrub the registry and temp folders. I have also restarted in safe mode and emptied the temp folders in windows and in my user\myaccount\appdata folders. I do not have any malware or virus problems. I have tried uninstalling the ATI software from my computer but still, to no avail, the printer driver software only opens the ATI installer. I have tried this driver on 7 other machines, they all work fine, some of them even have ATI video cards.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

My battery had recently died and I haven't had the time or money to buy a new one. My Dell laptop, which I only bought not even a full year ago, still works as long as it's plugged into a power source. The problem is, and it's the biggest nuisance ever, is that the Dell Power Manager Lite notifies me all the time that my battery isn't working or something along the lines of it. It's extremely annoying because it pops up every few minutes or seconds even and interrupts important things. I've done everything I can to try to turn off the notifications, as there is no real option to turn them off. I can't uninstall this program as it's nowhere in my files. Control panel has no way to uninstall it either. I am stuck with the most annoying popup notification. My question is, how can I turn off power manager lite notifications or uninstall the program completely when there are no straight options?

FOr the last few weeks... I get an error message every time I plug my charger in.  Now I cannot charge my battery.  sometime it works and other times not.  May be related to what ever else is plugged into the house outlets at home... iPad, iPhone, Mac computers, HP printer, etc.

Very annoying and now cannot leave my puter unplugged.

I think it is a software issue as the charger and cord all work fine to keep the puter alive when plugged in.

Hi,
(this thread follows this one)
I installed "Dell Command | Power Manager" (v 2.2.0).
In "Thermal Management" when switching between the 4 presets (Optimized, Cool, Quiet and Ultra Performance) it seems that only the first change is working.
For example :
If I boot with Ultra Performance and decide after to go to Quiet to get rid of fan noise, it works, almost instantly. I monitor what happens with my ears  and with HWiNFO64 and BurnIn Test :
In Ultra Performance all Core Clock are not maxed, reached 3792 MHz (that's the Turbo Speed for Intel Core i7-7560U @ 2.40GHz) and Fan at 6100 RPM
In Quiet each Core Clock seems maxed at ~1696 MHz (although in some of my tests I have seen it at ~2395Mhz, perhaps it's Optimized preset and not Quiet) and CPU Fan at 0 RPM
After that If I choose Ultra Performance mode nothings happens. CPU sticks to the maxed Core Clock until I reboot.
Very annoying to have to reboot to switch back to another thermal mode.

This setting was set to allow, but when it went off and I then connected a USB flash drive into one, it would not come back on to detect that USB drive, so I then unchecked the allow option boxes on all USB hubs listed in the Windows 7 device manager.

A:USB power management in device manager, allow to turn off or not ?

So my question is should I not enable the "allow windows to turn off this device to save power" option box in the device manager under power management for my USB hub and front desktop ports, and the back USB root hub ports too ? Click to expand...

That box should remain UNchecked in all entries in
Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Keyboards
Mice And Other Pointing Devices
Network Adapters
in the Device Manager.

On T430 updated to Win 10 Anniversary.Opened Windows settings energy options and found it showed dead links to "@c:\program files (86)\thinkpad\utilities\pwmui.exe".Found no reference to Power Manager in settings/program files.Found "Lenovo PM Device" in Device Manager -> Uninstalled it and checked "Delete the driver software for this device.".Reboot.Downloaded n1mku20w.exe and installed it with no errors showing (1.67.12.14 confirmed).Reboot.Same result -> pwmui.exe missing. My guess is that windows compatibility telemetry silently deletes pwmui.exe.Not sure what to look for in logs...

Hi,
I have a Latitude e7450 that has a problem whereby the threshold values set to enable/disable charging are ignored (Power Manager , Custome Setting , start charge 50% , stop charge 90%). This has only occured following a fresh install of Windows 10. That part was working before under a previous build of Win 10 (just other issues meant a fresh install).
The BIOS settings reflect the 50/90 % values but regardless of the battery % level everytime the charger is plugged in it starts charging.
Am I missing some additional software ?
John

The latest driver and dependency software DOES NOT WORK correctly.   I can manage battery 1 or the internal battery, but I cannot manage battery 2. Once I get the driver installed.   I change the following in the registry.ChargeStartControl                            35 (decimal)ChargeStartPercentage                     35 (decimal)ChargeStopControl                           100 (decimal)ChargeStopPercentage                    100 (decimal) The changes made here ONLY EFFECT battery 1, battery 2 will not charge above 85%. Now after intalling the Lenovo Settings tile and looking in the power area,  it shows that battery 1 is set correctly.  Battery 2 is set to start changing at 101% and stop charging at 150%!!!!   I cannot find these numbers in the registry. Better question is why doesnt lenovo settings have a hook to make adjustments to battery management!!! Frustrated!!!    This works find in windows 7, windows 8 Lenovo drop the ball.

A:x240 power manager 1.67.09.03 and Lenovo Dependenc...

Tried Power Manager 1.67.04.04 as well.  Same problem, battery 2 will not charge over 85%.   I have also tried removing the Microsoft ACPI drivers.    What I would like to know is what is controlling the second battery.  Where is it reading those settings from.

The battery gauge on my power manager greyed out with dashes and doesn't show when I'm plugged in. Nor can I move the performance-battery life bar when I open the power manager.
