X220 missing Bluetooth

Q: X220 missing Bluetooth

I ordered my X220 with Bluetooth 3.0 and it is listed in the order sheet. I am now trying to use it for the first time to connect a Bluetooth mouse, but having no success. In fact, I can't find Bluetooth anywhere in the system. There is no Bluetooth in the Control Panel and I can't find it in the Device Manager. I tried installing the 6.4.0.1500 Bluetooth device drivers from the Lenovo website. Apparently it was already installed and it asked if I wanted to do a repair installation. I selected repair installation but at the end it reported "No Bluetooth device was detected. Please make sure that your Bluetooth device is plugged in properly in order to continue". Is it missing from my X220? Is there something to enable in the BIOS (I can't find anything)? Richard BTW, my system is type 4286-CTO according to ThinkVantage Tools and the sticker on the laptop. When I go to Download Drivers & Software on the Lenovo site and use Run Auto-Detect, it displays "ThinkPad X220i (4286-CTO)" (it should be X220 not X220i). If I manually select the system instead of using auto-detect, under X220 I can select 4286 but CTO is not listed.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Is your Bluetooth LED on? It's the second one from the left, next to the WLAN LED. You can activate Bluetooth by pressing Fn + F5.

Greetings folks,  I would like to seek your prompt support to resolve my technical issue as I upgraded the Operating System of my laptop Lenovo X220 from Windows 7 to 10. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the Bluetooth driver on my computer, so I communicated this issue to Microsoft. They just told me that Lenovo has apparently not yet released a Bluetooth Driver for Win 10. Please advise.!! Regards,

I noticed that the Intel Centrino N1000 in my X220 does not do Bluetooth so this means my rig has a separate solution. So I was wondering, once I get a witelist free BIOS, what options can I use to modernize my machine? The latest is Bluetooth 5 and there are not even any USB models on the street yet.

The x220 has blluetooth 3 which is obsolete, it was when the machine was delivered, so much for this year's tech so new wi-fi cards have bluetooth 4 or even 4 so if I disable the bluetooth in the BIOS it also disables the wi-fi card too, so any suggestions on how to get rid of the problem? I tried removing the daughter board, that did not work out well, this is one of many headaches I will be criticising lenovo for on my website

I have an x220, Windows 7 Premium. It does not have a Bluetooth radio function; it does however have Bluetooth in the Control Panel and as a File transfer utility in Windows accessories - I don't know what that means. Does it mean I can Bluetooth stream files from the X220 to another Bluetooth equipped machine? Thanks very much.

Hello,I own a stock x220 with an i7.I would like to use the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth mouse. Apparently that mouse uses bluetooth 4.0, which my laptop does not have (2.1 i believe but i am not sure and don't know how to check either). Will I be able to connect and use that mouse? Thank you

A:X220: connecting a bluetooth 4.0 mouse

Hello,
According to the X220's hardware maintenance manual, the ThinkPad X220 contains a Bluetooth Daughter Card BDC-2.1, with FRU# (part#) of 60Y3271 or 60Y3275.  Searching on those FRU numbers reveals this page on the independent ThinkWiki site which says those cards are Bluetooth 3.0.  It also mentions that the part is likely to be swappable with a new Bluetooth 4.0 BDC card.

From looking at the details [age for the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse, it mentions Bluetooth Smart/Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility and specifically says "Bluetooth 4. enabled devices" in the System Requirements.

It is still possible that the mouse will work with the older Bluetooth 3.0 card, but just consume more power.  Or, you may need to replace the Bluetooth Daughter Card inside the X220 or use an external Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter with it.  It would probably be best to check with Microsoft for an authoritative answer.

Anyone else encountered and solved this problem? I upgraded about 2.5 weeks ago and have looked everywhere for a solution. I finally got the wireless radio settings to apear when I press Fn+F5 but no bluetooth option exists. Today when I decided I had wasted enough time and tried to go back to Windows 7, it won't let me even though I still have Windows.old and it is whin the 30 day window. I feel stuck. I like Windows 10 but not having bluetooth makes me wish I would have left well enough alone and stayed with Windows 7. Anyone have a fix for either of these problems?

A few days ago I finally upgraded my X220 from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. However I've discovered to features have gone missing, which really bugs me. First the battery gauge is gone. Google and tried most of suggestion I've found but without any luck. Second the WiDi (Wireless Display) has also been removed. Both features are strongly missed as I use them more or less on a daily basis. Has anyone found a working solution to any or both of them? If so please advise

Ok here's what happened. My laptop has built in bluetooth on windows 10. It was working fine for awhile but then my mouse yesterday wouldn't move or click anything on my laptop. Its disappeared from the Action Center/Notification bar, and its not on the tab side of the settings under the settings "Devices - Printers Bluetooth Mouse".

I went into device manager and under the Bluetooth section I right clicked and hit update driver software. It said a new driver was found and installed it and restarted my computer. It is now nowhere to be found.

The only thing that may be different in device manager (I don't know if it was like this before or not I don't remember) but under Universal Serial Bus controllers, I have an "Unknown USB Device (Device descriptor request failed)" That could have been there before or it could have happened after I'm not sure. I'm just giving extra info if its helpful.

Also I found the section for drivers on the Acer website but there was 5 or 6 different bluetooth drivers and I didnt know which one to download. My laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-722-81MJ. Thanks for helping!

I do see that under GENERAL there is a note stating ?Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)
I have seen on a previous forum and seen references to BLUETOOTH/BROADCOM but this does not mention Win.10. Is it safe to uninstall Realtech 4.0 and replace it with BLUETOOTH/BROADCOM to resolve this problem.

A:G510 Missing bluetooth

This sounds like a hardware driver issue, and will require the original driver from Windows 7 that worked to be installed under Windows 10, using compatiblity setting adjustment.

Download the driver from Lenovo for your BT radio, save it to disk.  Open Windows File Explorer, navigate to the downloaded file, right click on it and choose properties.  Once there, look for the compatibilty tab, there is a drop down on it to choose target operating system, and also a box to check for "install as system administrator" or similar.

Once you have completed these steps install the driver by double clicking on the modified file.

After the installation finishes, open up device manager and "refresh" or scan for new hardware.  Look for any "unknown devices" or devices listed with yellow or red markings on them.

If unknown are present, right click on them and copy the "Hardware ID's" from them in your response - chances are that is your BT radio.

Hi All,

I have an Acer AOD-257 netbook running Windows 7 Starter. I went to the Support site and downloaded two Atheros and one Broadcom Bluetooth (BT) drivers from the list of available drivers for this model. I installed each at a time and then uninstalled/reboot before installing the next one to find which BT card I have.

Broadcom announced "no BT adapter." OK, so probably not a Broadcom BT device.
I installed v6 for Atheros and after install the BT-suite does nothing when clicked.
I installed v7 for Atheros and after install the BT-suite does nothing when clicked.

After each of the Atheros installs I checked the Windows 7 Device Manager and it showed the BT device was working but I could not get BT headphones to connect or even find a BT signal.

So, I am left wondering if I really have a working BT device. Is there any software that I can use that will show the BT device and drivers are available and configured correctly?

Thanks

A:Bluetooth gone missing Acer AOD-257

look in Device Manager and see what it shows for bluetooth (if anything at all). It's the best place to look to get an overview of what devices are detected and which have problems as denoted by an error symbol.

According to Acer's website, not all AOD257's have a bluetooth device. It depends on the full model number, AOD-257 is only part of the model number, the full model number contains a hyphen and a further six or seven digits, for example AOD257-N57DQbb

Hello,
Problem: Can't install/configure BlueTooth Devices
Hardawre: Samsung R70 Laptop with built-in BT support.
OS: Windows XP SP2
(and I installed SP3 to see if this would solve my problem but it didn't)

My problem is not drivers, nor conflict between windows and proprietary
software/drivers for my BT device, instead the problem is that
the BT devices control mechanisms in Windows are absent.
In the Device manager all is well, BT drivers are present and BT hardware is working properly.

The problem is I cannot configure any BT devices, according to ordinary
instructions on many sites including Microsoft.com.
-There is NO BT icon in the System Tray.
-There is NO BT applet in the control Panel.
-Under: Right-click My Computer>Manage>Services and Applications>
Double click Services> There is NO Bluetooth Support Services
-In: Start>Run type: bthprops.cpi it is there, but nothing happens
when I run it.

I have tried installing and uninstalling the BT drivers from the Samsung website and this provides the same result: Happy hardware, no BT services or applet.
I have used many XP machines that have the above BT tools. It's part of the OS. How on earth is a part of the OS simply missing? And where can I get it and install it?
I have all my updates from Windows Update.

A:Bluetooth is totally missing from the OS

Did anyone ever find an answer to this issue, besides rebuild or use another OS?

I have an Envy 15t-3200 CTO laptopI've recently installed new Windows 7 on my laptop and almost everything is doing well, but although I've installed all drivers listed in this website, still I can't use my bluetooth. My bluetooth is missing from all other devices and there is no "share via bluetooth" option on any file. Just like the driver was not correct. I've read many troubleshooting ways on the Internet, but no one was hrlpful.please guide me

A:Bluetooth Service missing

What is the complete product name of your notebook?   CTO means configure to order and does not give us the configuration. Envy 15t-3200 is the notebook model series.
