Unique identifying numbers?callID numbers.

Q: Unique identifying numbers?callID numbers.

I have been given four transcripts of telephone calls recorded at a call centre. All at different times on the same day. Two have the same callID number. The sequence of the numbers attributed to each call are odd. The first call has a higher number than later calls and the last two are also out of order. I am not sure if this is the right forum but i am desperate for some help. The transcripts are VERY important and I cannot be sure that they are the real deal because of the callID numbers. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Need to create unique 2 digit random numbers that will be used in a check digit slot verification system for Voice Order Selection in a warehouse environment. Unique in that there are no duplicate numbers adjacent to each other. The numbers will be part of a 2000 slot address file. I have used Excel Rand, and Randbetween. I also looked at a VBA code, tried it, but could not decipher the code to fix it for sets of two numbers. Thanks.

A:Solved: Unique Numbers 2

Not totally clear on what you need. Are you trying to use Excel to generate a column of random two digit numbers (00 through 99) that is 2000 rows (numbers) tall? Each number is to be different from the number directly above it and the number directly under it?

Here is one possible way to do the above.

Assuming the column of numbers is in column A.

Format all of the cells in the column to show all numbers as two digit integers

Put this formula in cell A1:
That will create a random integer number from 0 through 99.

Put this formula in cell A2:
This will take the number from the cell above the current cell, add a random number from 1 through 99 to it, subtract 100 if the new number is over 100, and truncate it to a whole number.

Copy the formula in cell A2 to all cells from A3 through A2000. Excel should automatically change the cell references.

You are done if you need the column of numbers to always change when the sheet is updated.

If you want to generate a one time fixed list with 2000 number in it, then copy the contents of column A and then use "Paste Special" to only past the values into another column.

Hey, I'm having a slight issue in a program i'm working on. I'm trying to make an array of user defined size and fill with random numbers (the max of which is also user defined).
That part i have no issue with.
The issue is where I need no numbers to be duplicates.

{ Numbers[current spot] = rand() % NumMax +1 //Plus one to avoid a zero being produced.

here is the code i have written so far

int NumPicks;/*to save how many numbers to generate */

while( valid == 0 ) {

A:Solved: Guarantee Unique Numbers

Read other 16 answers

I need a really fast way to get N unique random numbers. (N will be fairly small - something like 50 avg 100 max)
Obviously something like rand() N times is not going to guarantee they are unique.(I know rand() from cstdlib isn't that fast - I'll replace it at some point.)
I was thinking something like this (psudocode version)

vector<int> numbers
for ( 1-N ) numbers.push_back(rand())

if(numbers.size() != N) add more numbers

?? sort(numbers) and if numbers[i] == numbers[i-1] delete one of the pair?
?? binary search for each element and delete duplicates?
while (numbers.size() != N)

What do you guys think? I'm sure I'm not the first person ever to need a set of unique random numbers so I thought I'd see what the general opinion is.

Issues I'm considering are:

List or vector? May need some deletes from inside (list?) but binary search might be fast enough to make up for the occasional duplicates in the random numbers.

Should I use a Set<int>? I've never come across them but the unique property has just struck me as what I might need.

Any other STL algorithms that can help out?

A:Solved: unique random numbers. Implementation in C++

I know the fastest sorting algorithm that you may use for this would have a O complexity (quick sort for instance). And you'd have to run it everytime a new number is added to your vector or list, so it'd be a O(n ^ 2) overall complexity. The good thing about a list is that it has a built-in sorting algorithm.

If I had to do something like this, I'd just generate the random number, then I'll run a for loop to see if that number is already in the vector, or list. If it wasn't, then the number would be added to the list. This method would also have a O(n ^ 2) complexity

I am working on an Access (2010) Database for our School Auction. I have set up a table with a list of Categories for the donations (Dining, Kids Activities, Sports etc). I then set up an Auction Donations table to enter all of the information related to each donation and included a Category field that pulls from the Category table. In years past each Category had its own series of 100 numbers (i.e. Dining 100, Kids Activities 200, Sports 300, etc).

My Questions:

Is there a way to set up the ID# field to look at the category and then give a unique ID# starting with 100, 200, 300 depending on the category?

Do I set this up in the Category Table or the Auction Donation Table?

If this is possible, will it continue to add sequential numbers based on categories as I continue adding items?

If this isn't possible, do I need to set up separate tables for each category and then start each one as 100, 200, 300 etc?

I'm new to Access so any help would be appreciated.

A:Unique ID numbers related to Categories in Access 2010

scstreit, welcome to the Forum.
I have a couple of question back to you?
Why bother?
Why not just let Access create unique keyID numbers and use those, as they should be transparent to the the users anyway?

What I require is a calculation of the number of unique numbers in a range.

For example, I may have some numbers like 8350, and 4950 etc that are repeated multiple times, but in my count,

So if I had a column

my formula would return a count of 5 and not 6

Help! I have to show a group of school kids how to do this but I haven't used Access in years so don't know how to do it myself :s

For an Access project I need to be able to generate a unique student ID, which combines letters from the students name with a sequential number that is always one more than the highest currently in use. I have a forename field so I plan on using the first two letters of the forename plus a unique number. Is it possible to auto ID this?

Any advice would be appreciated.

A:Access - Create unique ID combining letters and numbers

Off the top of my head I can't think of one. My suggestion would be to create a field that concatenates the first two letters from the forename field with an autonumber field. The autonumber field will give you your sequential numbers and the concatenate field will give your unique identifiers.

Hello, I have a pair of XPS 14z (L412z) laptops and I need help identifying part numbers/where to buy two motherboard components.
The first is the FV2 fuse that I removed and jumped on one motherboard. It's about 3mm in length and marked with a K. I was having trouble with a replacement LCD for one of the laptops where the backlight wasn't turning on and this was close enough to the inverter/LCD cables that I thought it was the problem. From what I could find, backlight fuses are often 32V and 3A, but I can't find any like that which are marked K. I think it may be 1.5A or 2A from similar K-marked littelfuse products, but I have no idea and need some help as I would rather not keep it jumped.
(The LCD problem has since been resolved as some weird act of God where both the original and replacement LCDs failed to work while the one from the second laptop does in fact work with this motherboard.)
The second part I need help with finding is the ZIF retaining flap for the HDD connection. I have no idea how I lost it, but I can't find it anywhere. The original is a little over 17mm long and fits 12 pins(?). I would really appreciate a suitable replacement part that I could order online, but I would also settle for anything one step a... Hey everybody.

I don't know if the title is a good one for this problem, but here goes.

I have a column that has numbers in this format: 54321-1234

Now, I want to take off the last 4 numbers, and the dash, from all the numbers in the column, using a formula. So that the output would be: 54321.

I want it so the first 5 numbers stay the same, but the dash and last 4 are gone. Is this possible?

This was asked before by KlausdB:

"I have 4 x HDDs on SATA AHCI (Intel Controller) in Native Mode and 1 x ESATA on Win 7 Pro X64.
I noted that looking in Admin. Tools\Computer Management\Storage (as an example) the 1st HDD (Port 0 in the AHCI BIOS) is showing as "Disk 2" instead of my expectation of

"Disk 1".
Selecting the Drive's Properties correctly shows the "Location 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0)".
I also note that the Disk Number allocation in Windows will change randomly after some reboots/startups - going anywhere from "Disk 1" to "Disk 4".  I can force/replicate this

behaviour by removing the ESATA drive.
Is this expected behaviour?
It doesn't appear to create any operating issues at this stage, however, is there a way I can force the Drive to always map to (eg) Device 0 --> Disk 1, Device 1 --> Disk 2,

 This was answered by Nicholas Li:

I have three SATA hard drives :
Main system/boot drive , WD Caviar Black 1 TB, connected to the SATA 0 port
A backup drive, identical WD Caviar Black 1 TB, connected to the SATA 1 port
Another dirve, Hitachi 1 TB, connected to the SATA 2 port
When I installed Win 7, only the main drive was connected... and it remains the only drive with active/system/boot partitions.

All three drives reporr correctly in the BIOS, and in the right order, but why is it that only one of the drive (the one on SATA port 1) has a "SATA:" prefix and the others have a "HDD:" prefix ?

Why is it that the assignment of Disk #0, 1, 2 ( as seen in Disk Maanger or DiskPart) does not seem to have nay rhyme or reason?

I would have expected:

- the hardrive connected to SATA port O, to be assigned as Disk 0
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 1, to be assigned as Disk 1
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 2, to be assigned as Disk 2

but instead, I have:

- the hardrive connected to SATA port 2, is assigned as Disk 0
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 0, is assigned as Disk 1
- the hardrive connected to SATA port 1, is assigned as Disk 2

Just curious why that is.

I am assuming there is no way to chagne this. Its not something I would dream of reinstalling Windows 7 to correct ( even if it did correct it).

A:SATA port numbers vs assignemnt of Disk numbers/

Best advice, leave it alone. It may bother your (and others) sense of order but it won't affect how anything works, and no re-installing Windows won't change it.

I have some reference books I use and in all of them I have this problem:

Is there any way to fix this by changing the pdf numbering or is there any workaround?
