Q: windows explorer problems, audio/video problems, vbalsgrid6.ocx problems...etc.

Hi, about 2 days ago I turned on my pc and many weird things started happening...
first it took a lot of time for the explorer.exe to load, so the desktop or taskbar didn't appear until after maybe 10-15 minutes. Then, the taskbar looked really weird, it seemed like it had been cut horizontally, so you couldn't get to see the whole lower part of the taskbar (and it wasn't the screen size config... since I tried changing that and it didn't work). I thought it might be some kind of virus, so I opened Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and I got the following message:

Run-time error '372':

Failed to load control 'vbalGrid' from vbalsgrid6.ocx. Your version of vbalsgrid6.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

Then also I noticed I can't paste anything anywhere... or drag things, so I can't copy paste things or cut-paste things... then since yesterday I no longer have a taskbar... and I also can't use the search function (not even when I go into My PC and click on the search icon... a frame appears on the left, just as it should, but it just stays blue)
Also, when I go into taskmanager, and go to processes the Username under all processes is blank (except for one: Inactive process... under SYSTEM) when normally many of them were under Administrator and others.
And finally, I can't open windows media player... and when I open iTunes i get the following message:

iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly.

and it also doesn't detect mi iPod when I connect it to the computer.

here's the hijackthis log:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I know I'm too late coz' I just recently upgraded to windows 7 from XP
But I'm having problems with my audio and video after installing winodws 7
I already installed latest drivers for both but my audio has some kind of static noise. It is lessen when I set it to minimum bit and hertz but i still hear a bit. As for the video, I know I only have a very poor internal video card but games really lags even Warcraft 3. I can't even change the brightness in Warcraft. I'm really curious because I don't experience both of these problems in XP PS: I now have dual boot XP with my 7 so I actually compare them....hope someone can help me. Thanks

Hey I've been having major problems with my Laptop.
Every ten or so minutes when my McAfee 2010 security suite disables real-time scanning it'll re-enable itself causing a lot of alarming pop-up boxes which is slowing my computer. Not sure whats causing it but it seems like malware.
Next theres this process which starts at windows start-up (DivxUpdate.exe), I don't think this is actually a part of divx. I've read somewhere that it is a form of autorun malware, it consumes 99% of my cpu majorly slowing down my computer, I think I may have similar malware on here that are problematic.
Also my firefox frequently say that there's an unresponsive script which temporarily freezes my whole computer and when I finally manage to get to task manager I have to end the process which seems to be using a regular amount of cpu and memory.
I made a topic exactly 1 month ago but nobody answered so I thought I'd make a new one seeing as the problems are progressing and building up.

Thanks for any help I'm provided with.

Im getting a strange audio and video problem after about 30 minutes running all video gets choppy and games run poorly, a sound distortion shows up in conjunction with the chop. I.E when whatever game or program is running and starts getting laggy the sound crackles at every pause in the graphics. I replaced my old soundcard(was a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1) and the trouble went away for about a day then reappeared. This trouble began after my last total Format and reinstall, I have checked all my drivers for all my hardware and it is up to date, updating my chipset drivers also cleared the trouble for about a day before it reoccured. Anyone had this problem and been able to solve it?

Hi folks
I have a Presario C502A Notebook and it runs ok except 1 problem that has been ongoing for most of the year. I have absolutley no audio at all and trouble watching video as well.

In the past I have simply used my system restore point to get things going again but all of a sudden my system restore points have vanished so there's no way of turning back the clock this time. I have looked through lots of forums, reinstalled drivers, installed the codec packs and apparently my audio and video devices are operating normally(according to the control panel)...well they're not.

Streaming videos (youtube etc.) just gives me a stuttered like picture. It's almost a strobe effect like Im watching the video in a nightclub. Even if I wait for the video to fully download it will not playback smoothly, still skips like almost watching a slide show. And of course there's absolutely no audio. I dont even get the 'welcome to windows vista' tingle when i boot-up.

If Im watching a video (through WMP) I've saved to the hard drive it will play for 4 seconds or so and then freeze. The cursor will contine to move along but the video will not. Again, no audio.

Would love to hear from anyone with an idea on this most frustrating problem.

Thanks guys!

Hi, Have new computer with vista. When listening online audio and video breaks up. Did have problem with old computer.

A:Audio And Video Problems

What type of connection do you have?

When you're listening to Audio and watching Video online its mostly streamed content. Like on youtube. if your connection is slow you won't be able to watch the whole video without any pauses unless you have a fast internet connection. Same with Audio on myspace and things a like.

Any time I'm watching a video of any kind, online or offline, the audio will randomly cut out for a long period of time. When the audio comes back the video will freeze until the audio catches up to where the video froze then both will play correctly until the audio freezes again. I don't know a whole lot about computers so if your suggestions could be broken down into steps and described in layman's terms it would be much appreciated.

I am having both audio and video problems. When I first sign-on there is a lot of static coming from the speakers. Later as I watch videos sometimes the video will breakup and sometimes look pixelated (if that is a word). At the same time I usually get audio that sounds like it came from the washing machine. I replaced the speakers to no avail. I am not smart enough to go into the machine and do anything that would be like checking the audio. Also, does any of the above information tell you whether I can add another video monitor or not? Thank you in advance.

A:Audio video problems

I can only help with your monitor question.

The Radeon HD 5450 graphics card has three output ports, so it can run up to three monitors.
However, each of the three output ports are different types:

1. VGA (the common type of monitor port)
2. DisplayPort
3. DVI

Your second monitor, therefore, must be compatible with one of the currently unused ports on the graphics card.
For example, if you are currently using the graphics card's VGA port for your existing monitor, your second monitor must have either a DVI input or a DisplayPort input.

However, either the audio or the video, always lags and is out of time... which is very frustrating. There is sometimes static sounds coming from the speakers. This static noise and very poor quality audio is sometimes temporarily resolved when i change the "sample rate and bit depth". However, this issuse occurs everytime i click on a new vidoe. Also, the video can sometimes become j'erky' every 5 seconds.  I have tried a whole host of things (reinstall realtek audio speakers, change speaker software..etc) to no avail. Can anyone please help/advise on my situation if you can make sense of it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Regards, Scott Esq.

Hi. I have recently been having problems playing back any type of video file. The file will start playing for a few seconds then the playback will stop. If I double click on the progress bar the file will sometimes restart playback for a few seconds then stop again. Also, I have no audio playback on my PC.

I thought the problem might be codec related so I ran a toll called sherlock.exe which told me that the driver for Intel Indeo? Video R3.2 could not be located.

Any help in overcoming this annoying little problem would be much appreciated.

Hi there
So about a week ago me and my dad both upgraded our computers to windows 7. His being a laptop and mine being a desktop computer. My desktop computer works perfectly fine with nothing really wrong except there is an occasional freeze/delay when typing or clicking on something. Although, thats not why I'm writing (but if anyone has a solution please feel free to give me tips)

My dad has a Sony Vaio with model #: VGN-SZ483N
With a inbuilt microphone and webcam, furthermore the graphics card is a Nvidia go 7400
The problems that consist on my dads laptop after formatting to windows 7 is the following:
1. When trying to play games we get a error message saying that hardware acceleration is turned off or not supported by my video card and to update drivers. However, I have checked the HW Accelerator and it is turned on, furthermore I went to download the latest driver from the NVIDIA website and when I run the installation it says something on the lines of there being no drivers on the computer so it cannot continue. I also went to the Sony website for the particular model number and could not find a suitable driver for my problem.
2. Now the microphone does not work and makes a buzzing noise, after installing windows 7 we tried using skype to contact family, and they could not hear us. So I went into control panel and turned up the volume and boost etc and fiddled around with the settings but nothing helped. Also, when clicked on "listen to microphone"... Read more

I've been having similar problems. I have defragged with Auslogic Disk Defrag, not just the one the computer comes with, I scanned with McAfee Security Center, and I have even installed an Advanced System Optimizer by Systweak. This problem has just recently started as well, and it makes my sound choppy as well as any video and mouse movements. My windows task manager shows the cpu usage jumping all over the place. Anywhere from around 3% up to 100%, but not usually going that high. When it spikes up its around 60-80%, which still makes my computer choppy.
here is the first screen of the sysspec program i d/l in the other threads i saw. i wanna provide as much info as i can before i start complaining.

and lastly, i guess ill throw in a picture of the processes or programs or whatever running based on the task manager. i arranged them based on the most memory being used, so someone smarter than me can tell me if i'm running too many programs...

i don't know what other information i could provide you with yet, other than it is a laptop. a dell inspiron 9400 that i have had no troubles with up until this point. i do have a lot of music files on it, but ive always had a lot and its ran fine. i dont really play games on it, but i do have quite a few apps, including windows blinds, weather channel desktop, aim, i... oh yeah and sorry i forgot one more thing. i dont know if this is directly related to this problem but my screen saver seems to have a mind of its own. no matter what time i set it to (1 min, 10 mins, etc). it seems to only go on some times and sometimes it doesn't. i wouldn't usually mind but the whole point of the screensaver going on is so when you come back from idle it makes you put in a password. if i go away from my laptop, i want to be sure that it will go on and prompt for a password after rather than log off or switch users. its a hassel and plus the screen saver is really cool to watch. it seems as if all these problems just arrived at once and i dont know if its because my laptop has just been taking a constant beating with too many applications or what. if one of the TSF guys could help it would be a miracle, as microsoft does not help at all unless you ditch them out money, and talking to dell could end up being a full day affair, and i just dont have the time for that at this moment.

thank you so much

I just recently got my computer back from the shop with a brand new hard drive and Windows XP installed. Now for some reason, however, I can't play audio and/or video files. Whenever I try, I get the following message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program, or it may not be functioning properly."

0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file

When I check my device manager, the following is listed under "Sound, video and game controllers:"

- Audio Codecs
- Legacy Audio Drivers
- Legacy Video Capture Devices
- Media Control Devices
- Video Codecs

When I go to "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties" it claims that there is no audio device.

I've already tried the Microsoft Windows Update to see if there was something I was missing, but no such luck. My question is, are there drivers I can download somewhere that are compatible with my machine/system?

Thanks in advance.

The audio/video pauses, starts up and runs for awhile and starts and stops again and so on through the video. I woke up this morning and found my computer in power save mode, nothing unusual so I turned it back on and let it boot normally, however after logging in I found that my audio was gone (Speakers are working fine, plugged in and turned on) but the drivers are good and it is picking up on my driver and so on... But my video's are now choppy as well, I don't really understand the problem here and I have only recently got this computer so I am not really sure of its build and for the past 2 weeks it hasn't had any problems at all so I don't know what caused this problem.

Any information on this matter would be a huge help.

You appear to have a Dell Inspiron 3252 desktop.
What's the exact "service tag" number and "express service code" number on yours?

It appears to have Realtek ALC3600-CG 5.1 channel high definition audio.
HERE is the Windows 10 64-bit driver for it.

You should consider getting rid of the IObit-related apps that are installed in that desktop.

Hi, I'm having a problem. I've tried everything I know of or could find in a couple days of searching.

Since installing a new power supply & video card, my PC is having frequent slowdowns. The mouse will freeze for a few seconds and then teleport across the screen, typing text (like this post) will have occasional freezes and then catch up, etc. In online gaming (City of Heroes) the video will stutter. Also, the sound stutters, both in the game and when playing system sounds and MP3s. Ingame, the sound and video both stutter at the same time.

My first thought was heat, so I installed a program called RivaTuner to let me see the video card temperature. It hovers around 36-37 degrees celsius when web browsing, and has risen as high as 44 degrees while gaming. I haven't gamed for more than two consecutive hours yet, so it may go even higher. That said, the fans seem to be doing a good job of removing the heat, and the problems are about the same regardless of temperature. According to what I've read, for a video card anything under 60 degrees is good.

I opened the device manager and uninstalled the old video card driver. There were no hardware conflicts and DMA was not disabled. DirectX is updated to 9.0.

Drivers: the new video card came with a CD that installed nv4_disp.dll, which Windows XP says is unsigned. On the off chance the card didn't come with the latest driver, I downloaded the most recent one I could find from the MSI website, but it... Read more

Hi all,

About two weeks ago, i tried playing a song on itunes, and it acted like normal... not hanging or anything. The pause button came up when i clicked it, and when i clicked it again the play button came up. But, the song didn't move. I rebooted the computer, and it was working again.

Then i noticed it was doing the same thing with video. If I try to watch a video on youtube, or a mpg i have stored locally, window's media player does the same thing. If I reboot, it's fine, but after a while audio and video just won't work. Then I noticed that if I still go back and try to play audio or video, it sometimes will play through the file, but at a high speed, and with no audio. Itunes looks like its playing a song really quickly, youtube plays video fast, but no sound.

It's tough to troubleshoot this problem, because every time i restart the computer, the problem temporarily goes away. I've tried downloading lots of different video codecs, windows updates, restoring the system to before I had the problem, updating itunes, updating windows media player, running norton anti-virus, norton disk doctor, norton windoctor, etc.

I don't know for sure, but it seemed like this started happening after I ran a windows update, which had an update for Window's Media Player. So I tried uninstalling that update, reinstalling, nothing's working. Any suggestions or is anyone having this problem lately?

I do a lot of audio production on my computer, as well as play games, and so this is really screwing with me. I one day just had audio and video problems.

sound blaster audigy 1
geforce 9500 gt
amd phenom 9850

I first noticed it when recording in Ableton Live. Suddenly, everything turned to garbage sounding. Digital glitch-ey. So I turned the ASIO drivers up in delay. This helped. Then it happened again. Again, I turned it up. It happened again, rather soon... so this time I turned it all the way down to 2ms... and it ran fine!... Until it happened again. It is therefore not the load I am putting on the computer (and I know by experience how far I can push it, and it was nowhere near).

Then I tried to play a game - the graphics are stuttering. Bad. Maybe 2fps. The computer usually melts COD4 and yet I couldnt play at all- even the main menu was stuttering at 2fps.

So what's the deal? The whole computer seems SOMEWHAT slower, but when I use audio or video, its majorly screwed up.

I have fully updated malwarebytes and Nod32, and full scans on both have shown nothing whatsoever.

I am asking both questions here, since they started happening around the same time so...

First - I started to play Borderlands for the PC recently and once in awhile (not all the time mind you) the game will lock up for a few moments because my Realtek HD Audio Manager is trying to notify me via balloon message in the systray that "A new device has been plugged into an audio jack" - even though nothing has been added or removed.

Secondly, Windows Media Player 11 (Win XP - SP3):

My problem is that video files take roughly 5 seconds to start and WMP freezes for about 5 seconds when I try to shut the video down.

Now, I know I have had this 2nd problem once before in the past - but for the life of me I can't remember what I did to remedy it.

Tried googling around to find some answers - the first problem always talks about shutting down the jack sensing options (but my manager and that they show in the screenshots are very different looking and as far as I know I have the latest version so..) and the 2nd problem just leads me to tons of xp startup / shutdown issues and not WMP issues lol.

Neither is of critical importance, but it annoys me when there are little issues like these on my system and it's not running the way I know it should be.

Thanks in advance,

For the last month or so I have been having problems off and on with watching videos online. Videos from vimeo will load but won't play. videos from youtube will load and play about two seconds, then stop. If I move the time, it will play another 1-2 seconds, then stop. Videos from hulu will load and play but without any audio. I am at college, and don't have the most reliable connection, but it usually is 100+kb/s. It can change from working to not working within the day, and is very annoying when I go to watch a video and it won't play.

Hi, I'm having some software issues with my HP Spectre 13-4120ca. I have updated all the drivers using the HP Support Assistant, and Windows 10 is fully up to date. 1) Audio: After I sign into the computer, audio doesn't work (e.g. iTunes, others). I've discovered I can make it work by opening YouTube in a browser and playing a vid for a second or two. The sound works on the vid, then after that when I re-open iTunes and other audio applications, all works. Somehow YouTube is fixing my computer. This is a 100% reliable workaround, but annoying, as it happens frequently. This has been the case ever since I got the PC six months ago or so. 2) Video: Lately, when I plug in an external monitor to the HDMI port, nothing happens, either at home or at work. In Display Settings, a small icon representing display 2 appears, but when I click on it I get a message in red saying 'Didn't detect another display'. I can work around this by rebooting with the monitor connected, but this is obviously irritating.  Any help much appreciated

Also noticed more recently when working in MS Word 03 every once in a while it won't let me save files. Now I am noticing that when I have Internet Explorer open for a while, IE tries to pop open a new window, to which the IP address is blocked by K9 web protection is the IP. After googling this IP address, I found a few posts leading me to think there might be a trojan kicking around on my pc. I have run MBAM and Hijackthis in an attempt to find the culprit, but MBAM comes up clean, and I can't find it on Hijackthis. Any help woould be appreciated.

Hi there, recently I had messed with some codecs and stuff to try and watch a certain DVD that was being difficult. I messed up some codecs and such in the process and I couldnt see any streaming video and if I played any streaming audio, the sound would just be a scratch sound, that regardless of how high or low I turned the player's volume, would remain at the same level of "loudness".

So I decided to reformat and just reinstall the drivers from the original discs. I did that, and now I am still having the same problem.

I am using SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio drivers and an ASUS P5NSLI Motherboard.
I can post my system specs if you would like, I just dont know where to go from this point, I was sure a reformat would fix the problem.

Thanks in advance.

I have recently built a new system for family use and am having some odd behavior. Graphicsare fine and system runs goodfor normal use but when running Sims2 there is graphic corruption in the form of blue blocks replacing game elemnts, also the monitor sometimes resets as if going in and out of power saving mode. When originaly built this system had a Radeon 7000 that used to run Sims2 fine under Win98, tried a Radeon 7200 I had and same thing. Replaced with a new Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro 256 and still have same problem. Have tried all the obvious driver issues, including bios and chipset drivers. My guess is power supply not sufficient but I do not get any error messages. PS is stock unit in cheaper case rated 400 watts. Other strange issue is with TV Wonder, when watching anything with scrolling along bottom of screen, such as CNN or Fox News, the volume level fluctuates eratically.Latest MMC and drivers installed. Could these issues both be power supply? Possibly lame MB?

A:odd video and audio problems, power supply?

As you have guessed, it could be a number of things. Have you checked if you are simply overheating?

Try opening up your case and blowing a house fan directly on the guts of your case, then running a graphics intensive game. If this fixes you up, you are simply overheating.

The fact that you have the SAME problem on 3 graphics cards (did I understand you right?) is fishy though....

I'd start with the PSU first, personally. Unless you have another PSU lying around to use as a test, the only way to check is to buy a new one (unless you are an electrician and have a volt meter lying around). If you go that route, be sure to check this thread before buying:

This seems like a basic quality issue. I find it hard that the manufacturers don't check for something this simple.

In the case of Pinnacle, I had cut and pasted numerous video clips together(probably 50) and they were all out of order with respect to the original video. Total video was probably 75 Minutes. Video didn't sync up with audio, so I thought it was all the clipping together. So, instead of making a DVD, I had it output to an MPEG2 File. It created one continuous MPEG2 file(2.5G) and audio and video were perfectly synchronized. I loaded this file back into Pinnacle. Broke it up into 9 chapters. Then burned the DVD and A/V was not synchronized.

I have seen similar stuff with Sonic MyDVD where I had a 2 hour Video and just broke it up into 8 or 9 chapters and by the time the 6th or 7th chapter came about, Audio and Video were not synchronized. Has anyone else seen this issue? Any suggestions on programs that would work ?

A:DVD Authoring with Audio/Video Sync Problems

I am not familiar with the apps you are using, but I think your problem may be how you are burning your DVDs.

Editing softwares are good at editing, not burning; so if you are asking Pinnacle to do both, try avoiding it.

Burning softwares are good at burning, not rendering in DVD compatible formats (you will often have sync issues); so use the burning software to only burn, not render then burn.

Look at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ and it will give you some ideas as to how best to approach this, what format to render your file for maximum DVD compatibility, sync, etc.

Good luck,

Hello, since I started my computer yesterday, I experience the following problems:
in Chrome and Firefox, videos stop playing, lose sound or reset at random times (could be after a few seconds or several minutes). It happens with both Flash and Html5 videos, and on all sites (Youtube, IGN, Gamespot, etc.). I have to close and reopen the browser tab to be able to play the video again... then the same problems occur again.
In Spotify, music stops playing randomly as well. Changing track doesn't fix the problem, I have to restart Spotify.

Here's what I have tried:restart the computer many times
Uninstall / reinstall Flash
Disable Flash in Chrome plugins
Disable hardware acceleration in Flash
Uninstall Camstudio, the only software I installed recently
Run CCleaner and clear caches
Try on Firefox (which is clean, I never use it), same problem
Reinstall Chrome
Reinstall Spotify

This is my work computer, running Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise SP1 and it has the latest Windows updates.
Thanks in advance

Problem solved by installing the Realtek HD audio driver. For some reason, only the default Microsoft audio driver was installed on this PC. Cheers.

Hi everyone
I bought a Dell XPS13 9343 two years ago. I've never had any significant problems. The only thing that bugged me was that sometimes videos behaved a bit difficult - they would move in slow-mo and without sound if i clicked fast forward or backward (way) too often.
Now I have serious problems with audio and video. It started a few days ago. Whenever I pause a video and do something else (even just for a few seconds), i can't restart the video i.e. press play again. The video then does the slow-mo and no-sound thing. I can only solve this by reloading the video, which is really annoying.
The other problem I have is the sound. Whenever a sound comes on for the first time, it's incredibly loud, even though it's not supposed to be. This happens with or without headphones, sound muted or not. An example is when I start a video - bam, really loud. If I click the volume I already set, it goes down to that volume.
I've already downloaded new drivers and the newest Windows 10 update is installed as well. The problems happen on web-based videos and .mp4-files saved on hard drive or flash drives. Flash player is integrated and activated in Edge.
Has anybody experienced the same problems? Any solutions, please? I'm kind of desperate, because I can't work like this.
Thank you so much.

Lat time it happened later in the DVD. Is there any way that I can check the audio to see if it is going to play? Music plays in the video wizzard, windows media player and also in the movie file created.

Some said update windows and check what codecs im using. I upgraded the driver for the graphics card and checked my windows updates. Im not sure if this is odd or normal but every security update since 2010 both important and optional say the same thing,

A security issue has been identified that could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to compromise your system and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from microsoft. After you intstall this update, you may have to restart you system.

Is this normal, again would appreciate the help

Can anyone help out on the problems I am having with my audio when I download my video from my camcorder?
I get the sound from the video source, but I also get the background sound from someone talking in the background.
What I am doing wrong?????

Thanks for any kind of help !!

A:Audio Problems Downloading Video From Camcorder

In your video software, there should be a setting for Audio Source. This would be under Record settings or Mixer settings, or maybe just Options. In WIndows Movie Maker, the setting is found when you select Record, then click Change Device, under Audio Device. The Line setting here controls the audio source. Make sure this is not set to Microphone.

If you can't find this setting, you should be able to resolve the problem by just unplugging your microphone from the PC sound card.

Hope this helps; I haven't transferred any video to PC myself, but it seems clear that there must be a live mic hooked up to the PC in some fashion.

I played half-life years ago and it worked fine on my computer.
I recently installed it and downloaded all the latest updates for counter-strike and half-life to play again. However, when I select openGL for my video option to play, the game starts and then exits. I can only play in software mode.

I have an ati rage 128 video card and installed the latest drivers.
There was an overflow problem with ati years ago, but I installed the patch from sierra long time ago.
Not only does video not work, but there is no audio when I play the game.

I have an onboard soundcard on my motherboard (abit, VL6) and have installed the latest drivers for it. Do I need pci soundcard to play or is it alright to play with an onboard one?

Hello, I have been having problems with Windows 7 explorer constantly crashing and restarting whenever I right-click on or open any files and folders, search in the Start Menu search box, opening My Computer, Control Panel, etc. In essence, it is limiting most of the interface. I was able to pinpoint the problem using Safe Mode and msconfig to the 'Power' service (C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe ?k DcomLaunch). And once I disabled the 'Power' service, everything seems to be fixed.

However, disabling the 'Power' service will disable audio service for the system. To fix the audio service, I tried changing the Power management, reverting back to previous restore points, updating the audio device drivers, trying to enable the Windows services in services.msc for 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC)', 'Plug and Play', 'Multimedia Class Scheduler', 'Windows Audio Endpoint Builder' and 'Windows Audio' to activate sound again, but 'Window Audio' depends on 'Windows Audio Endpoint Builder', but 'Windows Audio Endpoint Builder' seems to depends on the 'Power' service. And I can?t activate the ?Power? service again without crashing Windows explorer. How do I go about fixing this issue? Can I replace the ?Power? service files? Or update them? And help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

This came up, a Quicktime error, Error-36 an I/O error occurred.
I've installed programs, shuffled files, done many every day operations in the past few weeks and days including downloading stuff I think I'm allowed to.
Not recalling any other specific issues other than a general slowdown. If I have one, my malicious scumbag sense is tingling.

Hi all,

I'm trying to burn a VHS tape directly to a DVD using Sonic MyDVD 7. I've used Sonic many times in the past to capture video and then edit it in Sonic or in another program, but now it's just not seeing any video or audio. Pinnacle Studio is working fine - it sees and captures audio & video - but I'd rather use Sonic because it offers you better options. Any idea why Sonic is not cooperating??

I use a Dazzle DVC170 capture device.
