I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey rvb,

Do you mean only one HDMI works at a time? When you have a monitor plugged in one port then the other does not work or the other port does not work at all?

hey how you doin?

So lets say you have a Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H and a Gigabyte 9800GT. You have two HDMI ports. Is it possible to plug lets say a ps3 to the 9800GT thru HDMI and HDMI from the Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H port to your Mitsubishi 60inch DLP HDTV? Possibly using some software to record the video as well? That would be super. Thanks.

If I was to guess tho both ports on my pc are output only.

I am currently doing research to figure out what my Laptop can do to support 120Hz at 1080p on an Asus VG248QE 24-Inch LED-Lit Monitor monitor. After doing some research, I've found that HDMI 1.4b, along with Display Port and DVI-D can all support 120Hz at 1080p, and with a DVI-D to HDMI 1.4b adapter, I should be able to get this.

I don't know however, what kind of HDMI port my PC has (or if they're all the same)? How can I find out whether or not the HDMI port on my laptop will support HDMI 1.4b to get the 120Hz I desire? I am currently using a customized Toshiba Qosmio X70-A.

Over the past few years I've had most all of my  M4600  or other M series HDMI port refuse to put out a signal.  I've had several company visitors bring their Dell laptops in and if they are M series laptops will not communicate with our overhead projectors via HDMI. The projector simply says NO SIGNAL.  Yet on the same projector when I connect my E5450 it will project just fine.  This happens when using a TV using HDMI as well.
In all cases it SEES the projector or TV screen as a second monitor.  I've popped open the PROJECT app and told it to MIRROR the screens.  I can see the monitor add itself to DEVICE MANAGER when plugging in the HDMI cable and see it leave when unplugging it. This happens with Windows 7 and Windows 10.
I had a an old M4600's connected it to my TV.  It worked for months on Windows 10 then suddenly would no longer put out a signal over HDMI.  Again, I can see the TV by correct name in Device Manager when it's plugged in, I tell it to MIRROR or even EXTEND the desktop and nothing happens but NO SIGNAL on the TV. I pulled out an even older M4600 one that had been offline for about a year and it worked until MS did updates.  I went through the Dell updates and Windows updates and will no longer work - NO SIGNAL.
I put a brand new fresh Windows 10 image on the first laptop (that I had been using for months) and it no longer works - with a brand new image from MS.  I tried updat... Read more

We can only troubleshoot the ones with Windows 7. Are you using Fn + F8 to switch to the TV/projector? Also, Nvidia Optimus must be Enabled.

A:Is there any possibility of using two hdmi ports from my pc

Using an addon card will almost always disable the onboard gpu. You could simply purchase a video card that has two HDMI ports. Or you could simply use the DVI port. The only difference between the HDMI port and the DVI port is that the HDMI port also supports audio. The video signal (quality) is the same as they are both a digital signal.

I recently downgraded my HP Pavilion 17-e119wm Notebook from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7. The main final issue is I can't connect to an external display. It appears the VGA and HDMI ports are not working. It may be an issue of missing drivers, but I am not sure. Can you provide assistance? Thanks.

A:VGA and HDMI Ports Not Working

Assuming the built in dispaly is working OK, then it does not make sense for a driver issue.  By stating "It appears the VGA and HDMI ports are not working" just what is happening when an external monitor or display is connected?  Are you looking in the right place to enable the second screen?Right click on a empty spot on the desktop and then pick "Screen resolution"  It should show the normal display as #1.  Click on "Detect", it should then show the extra display.  Click on the "new" display to set it up.

My 750-247c has THREE (3) HDMI ports.   I've included a picture.  It has one in line with the DVI and Displayport (which I've label 1 and have a cable plugged in already), and two lower on the chasis, which came with removable, black plastic plugs in them.   (Labeled 2 and 3.) In all the documentation for the machine, including that on HP's website, it says it has only two HDMI ports, but gives no indication what the difference might be.   I would be grateful if someone could tell me for sure what each of these three HDMI ports are for and whether the capabiliy differs among them.  Is one connected to the graphics card and the others not, or vice-versa?   See picture.   Thanks!  Michael

I see the two HDMI ports that you are talking about, and they have  the black plugs in them. Here is what I think is going on: The Intel processor has a video graphic card built-in, and these two HDMI is what you will use if  no video card is installed. But, since there is a video card installed with HDMI, DVI and PD ports, HP decided to plug those little black plastic thing there. I am sure if you pull the video card out of the computer, and plug your HDMI cable on any of those two ports, you will see video.  By doing so,  I think the limitations are clearly understandable.

I want to set up dual monitors on my computer. I have two HDMI ports; one that is on my graphics card and one on my motherboard.

The GPU port works just fine. The motherboard HDMI port does not. I did some research and learned that I need to enable that in BIOS. When I tried to do this, I found out that my USB keyboard does not work for BIOS. I did further research on this and found that I can change the settings on my Universal Serial Bus controllers to enable my USB keyboard by unchecking the "use automatic settings" box, but that box is completely grayed out.

My video card has only one hdmi port, and the other 3 are just DisplayPorts not hdmi. The screen and cable work fine as when I plug it into this it works. The problem is I need another port to plug my other display into.Is their any reason why these 2 extra hdmi ports are not working? The has a little plastic protector cap plugged into them. Are they just optional extensions that I'd have to get installed, Or am I missing some drivers? Thanks for any help,Alex

I bought a second hand gaming PC (i7 4770 RX480 win10) recently, the only way I can get any display to show on my monitor is through the HDMI port, it has three other display ports on the GPU, and HDMI/VGA/dvi on the motherboard.

I've checked using multiple monitors and two brand new cables and the only port that seems to send any signal is the HDMI in the graphics card.

Is this a drivers or config issue?

I have an HP Pavilion 550-154na desktop connected to my Dell monitor by HDMI cable from the graphics card, it works fine. But I'd like to connect a second monitor (or projector). The graphics card only has one HDMI port, but the back of the machine has two HDMI ports (covered with black caps), which presumably come off the motherboard. I tried plugging my monitor into one of these ports but the screen stayed blank. What are my options? Is it possible to get output from these ports or do I need to use a splitter or something?

A:Should my motherboard HDMI output ports work?

Hi: When your model has a discrete (add-on) video card, the onboard graphics is automatically disabled. Look under the Integrated Graphics specs. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-550-100-Desktop-PC-series/8499648/model/9242957/docu... You can get output from those ports if you remove the graphics card. If you leave the graphics card in, you can either hook up a DVI cable from the DVI out port on the graphics card to the DVI input of your monitor.  I would think most monitors have multiple inputs. If your other monitor only has a HDMI input, get a DVI to HDMI cable. You will not get audio from a DVI port.

I have a win7 x64 computer with a geforce 260, dual dvi output. i got one hooked up to my computer monitor using dvi. and the secondary using dvi- to hdmi adaper and the hdmi cable hooked into my samsung 46" (model: LE46B530 with software version: 2009/10/07_002004). oh and i have tried with 2 different hdmi cables btw.

my samsung lcd tv shows 1920x1080p as does my computer monitor. I haven't screwed with any display settings in windows and DPI is default, as is the resolution the same on both. using dvi to vga adapter and hooked up to my tv vga port it displays everything perfectly. I have the latest nvidia drivers.

Should i just buy a new GFX hard with hdmi ports or is this mess fixable? I'm rather dissapointed since i poured in a pretty penny into this little debocle.

i added 2 pictures one of tv and the other of my computer, view settings are cloned so it shows the same on both, the tv has kind-of a "ghost picture", you see the weird white glow the letters have?

A:Buy a new GFX hard with hdmi ports or is this mess fixable?

Confused. As you saying it works one way and not the other?

If so, (and assuming that the HDMI is the one having the issue) have you verified the resolution showing when using the HDMI and have you figured out if the DVI adapter you bought is actually the correct one for the video card (IOW _ are you using a 3rd party DVI to HDMI or the one that came with the card)?

Hi,

I have a 6 month old Z30-A Portege i7 laptop (PT243A-0HW02X) running Windows 7 64bit, and the 13.3" 1920x1080 internal display screen is not working - nothing is displayed on the screen.

However I can connect an external monitor via the RGB cable port or to the HDMI port and still use the laptop that way.

I have tried various Function F5 Output toggles choosing Clone, External, Extend, Switch Display, but nothing works to get output back again to the laptop display screen.

On the External option I see a laptop icon in grey colour with a X on the screen, and a '1' on the other display icon, and a window appears for 'Toshiba Flash Cards' with red x error message " Failed to initialize Output Configuration dialog!".

There is no further help available to tell me what the problem is.
When I choose the Function F5 Output Configuration option, the 'Internal' line is greyed out, so I can't select it.

Has anyone else had this issue?
Could a BIOS update help to tell me if there is a hardware issue?
There is nothing about the display error in the Windows event viewer.

Thanks.

A:No display on Portege Z30-A screen but HDMI / RGB ports work

I have a similar problem.

When I boot up, I see the Windows 7 logo, but then everything goes black after that.

I can start the computer in safe mode and the laptop screen works no problem. In Safe Mode I can even switch to 1920x1080 resolution. So the video hardware + drivers are working, just not in normal Windows mode.

Tried reinstalling video drivers but no luck.

I also wiped the computer and reinstalled Windows 7 + video drivers and still no luck...

It started happening literally out of the blue... after six months, like yourself.

I have a Z30t-A-123.

Does anybody from Toshiba respond here or are we left to our own devices?

A:Inspiron 15 7569 loses sound when USB and HDMI ports are used

The HDMI ports are a sound output device.  If you have something plugged in which can produce sound you should hear it there.
Try opening the Playback devices window from the speaker icon on the taskbar.  You should see the HDMI listed and showing sound levels if actual sound is playing.  If you don't, look for any other device which may be showing changes in sound levels.  You may have to disable one type if it is getting your sound.

So, fun problem. I'm suspect I could solve it with a reboot but I'm morbidly curious about why the heck Windows 7 is retarded sometimes (aside from the obvious, of course).

So...here's the rundown.

I leave my computer on. While I was at work, a storm rolled through. I got home and my computer had rebooted...so power flickered here and it restarted. Huzzah.

No damage to anything but...my mouse no longer works while plugged into either of the USB ports conveniently located on top of my desktop. If I plug in to the back, voila. Works perfect. If I put OTHER USB devices into the ports on top, they work fine.

If I watch the optical light on my mouse as I plug it in to the ineffective port...it flickers for a millisecond and then stays dark. When I plug in to the back, flickers...then stays on. So there's gotta be something special about it where my comp recognizes a mouse in those ports and says "Not today buddy."

I've tinkered a bit with the device manager..trying to detect new hardware and what not...no dice.

Again..NOT critical. But out of curiosity and an intense desire to apply way to much effort into mundane issues...anyone got any ideas on how I can see what the heck is going (or not going) on?

I have read everything I can find and have not seen this problem yet. My puter has two USB ports, one works fine, I run my scanner from it. When I go to device manager, there are no exclamation marks, and it says that roots and hubs are functioning properly.
Before my system crashed both ports worked fine. I had to re-install Windows ME a while ago & that is when this problem began. My system is about 14 months old now, when it was new there was some kind of problem with the web cam, but tech help fixed that, I have no idea how. Any suggestions? I heard that I should check my bios to make sure USB are enabled, but I don't understand how to do that, & I think that since one port works it probably is. I've just completed my first pc build:

i5 4690k
Msi z97 gaming 3 mobo
Corsair 430w psu(plan to eventually upgrade)
Seagate 1Tb hdd
Corsair vengeance RAM (x2 4gb sticks)

I've installed Windows 8 pro on the machine, the whole thing works great except for one issue: the USB ports can't recognize any devices, except in One weird case which I'll describe in a moment. Currently I am using an old ps/2 keyboard to navigate windows. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all devices, updating all drivers for my hubs/controllers/etc, unplugging the front panel connections in case it's a power issue, clearing cmos, still no change. Every time I plug in a device it gives me a code 43. Here's the weird part: The onmy way I can get the machine to recognize a usb device is when I have a usb keyboard/mouse/whatever plugged in, And then I insert my flash drive. The computer will then recognize the drive and I'm able to navigate it normally, inspect the files and such. The only USB device this works for is that flash drive, the usb keyboard and mouse stay unrecognized and listed as unknown devices in device manager. If the flash drive is inserted by itself before another device, or completely solo, it is not recognized and shows up as an unknown device as well.I am totally stumped, begging for a fix to this.

Hi,

We have a situation that comes up fairly regularly.
It is in the HVAC industry.
We have a computer, usually running Windows XP (sometimes 7) it connects to the internet via an Ethernet cable (which connects to a switch or more outside of our control) It is normally set up to use DHCP. We also need to connect via an Ethernet cable to a (HVAC) microprocessor/controller that has a (settable) static IP address.
We have a computer ( varies ) with a single Ethernet port to which we have added a second Ethernet port with a pci card (Broadcom BCM5751 Netxtreme Gigabit PCI Express Ethernet Network Adapter Card ). (We are not allowed, by the establishment, to use a hub in this particular location)
If I connect one Ethernet port to the HVAC controller (with IP address 198.168.1.150 and subnet mask 255 255 255 0)and set it to a static IP address (say 198.168.1.151) The program finds and talks to the controller. If I connect the second Ethernet port (with DHCP ) to the network source I can connect to the internet. In fact I can use either one (the original or the added one in either position) for either function . When I go to internet connections ..both ports show connected .. BUT.. I cannot do both at the same time. I need to be able to log on to the computer remotely via the internet and have its program communicate with the controller through the second port. It seems that which ever function I initiate first works the second does not I have tried reversing the connections and... Read more

I recently did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 32. I tried it before and had a lot of compatibility issues. That was over a year ago. Now, I have nearly no problems with it. In fact, I like Vista quite a bit. I have all my software installed and working and had all my hardware working as well.
I recently went out and purchased a wireless keyboard and mouse. That box said Vista certified. I couldn't get it to work for the life of me. Then I plugged the usb receiver into my friend's Vista laptop and it worked right away, plug n play.
I refused to give up and after tons of installing and uninstalling drivers, I accientally got it to work. However it will only work on the USB port on the front of my computer. They are all usb 2.0. It won't even work on the other usb port on the front, the same hub.

Any suggestions, at all?

Thanks in advance,
Sam

So I had a faulty fan that had become very loud and annoying, so I disconnected it. I powered my computer back up and just got a black screen through the hdmi on my gpu (worked fine before removing fan). I switched over to the dvi on my gpu and got a display. I have tried fresh install of drivers, I have checked all hardware and cables are seated properly. I have tried 2 monitors and different hdmi cables.
I have also had 2 monitors plugged in to hdmi and dvi, I then checked nvidia control panel which detected both ports and both monitors but the hdmi still shows black.
Any help would be appreciated.
The gpu is a nvidia gtx 570

I have an H50-55. When I connect the HDMI port to a Panasonic televsion (that also has an HDMI port) the video works. However my Dell U2412M LCD has DVI and DisplayPort but not HDMI. So I bought an HDMI to DisplayPort cable, but when I use that there is no video. I tried a different HDMI to DisplayPort cable and it still does not work. The Dell also has a VGA input, and connecting that works, but would prefer to use the HDMI output for quality. What is the trick to get the H50 working with an LCD that uses DisplayPort and does not have a native HDMI input? Thanks

This is a question to all owners out there. I have no use for the dGPU and I would like to disable it in BIOS completely, but will this mean that the HDMI ports (or other output ports) stop working? I read somewhere that the HDMI ports are connected directly to the dGPU but I really hope that is not true.
