Can't log into Windows 8.1 virtual machine after changing the Microsoft Account Password

Q: Can't log into Windows 8.1 virtual machine after changing the Microsoft Account Password

I use several Windows virtual and real machines with Windows 10 and Windows 8.1.
One of them are running under Parallels Desktop on a Mac and there it said that my Password will expire soon and I have to Change it.
So I changed my Microsoft Account Password on my "main" PC which is a Windows 10 real PC and everywhere I can use the new Microsoft Account Password - but not on the Windows 8.1 under Parallels.
When I try my old Password it doesn't work also....
I have several things running on that machine and I am not able to log in.
What can I do?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, so I've just found an old laptop I've had hoarded with windows 8 on it. Everything on it is super outdated, and I noticed it had my account on it which was basically my Microsoft account. I tried to sign in, but it says it's incorrect. I know my
password, and I've changed it over the years, but since the laptop is so old, it wants me to put in the last password I used to sign in on it. Problem is that I had so any password changed and I cannot remember what password I used. It will not let me use

I've downloaded the appropriate file, (msjavx86.exe) to my hard drive, which is readily available on plenty of websites. When I double click on the file, it just brings up a black screen for a quick second, and that's it. It doesn't run through the installation wizard, which it's supposed to. I set up Hyper-V in my Win 10 Anniversary install and created a Win 10 Virtual Machine which is fully activated.

I tried setting up a picture password for this VM. The Picture Password option was not available but I got it to show using gpedit. I then set a Picture Password but when I reboot, the Picture Password does not show up.

Is it possible to use a Picture Password in a Hyper-V VM?

if you want to run Windows 95 on Virtual PC 2007? The first thing to know is that it will still run, just without Virtual Machine Additions. The next thing to know is that if you take the Virtual Machine Additions from Virtual PC 2004 and install them on Windows 95 under Virtual PC 2007, it should work. Keep in mind that this is all unsupported.http://blogs.msdn.com/virtual_pc_guy/archi...windows-95.aspx

"To display this page correctly, you need to download and install the following components: Java virtual machine"

But whenever I click on the download button I am redirected to a

"We're sorry. The page you are viewing requires that you have a more recent version of the Microsoft Virtual Machine on your system. To obtain an updated version of the Microsoft Virtual Machine, please go to Windows Update".

I have then downloaded it elsewhere but on trying to install it I am told via an error message that: "This setup will only uprgrade over an existing version of the Microsoft VM"

I'm not sure what is going on but it seems like a chicken and egg type situation where I need to have Microsoft VM installed to be able to install it again.

Can anyone advise me what I should do?

Assuming it works fine on any other PC I can only assume they have an older version of VM. Assuming they at least have InternetExplorer 4.01 or better, have them go here and download the most recent version of VM. Then run it to install it. <a href=http://www.microsoft.com/java/vm/dl_vm40.htm> MS VM</a>

BTW, before they download it, have them check their current version number of VM, Start>Programs>MSDos prompt, type in Jview and press enter. The version number is in the upper right hand corner of the DOS dialog box. If it's less than 5.00.3802 then they should update to the version I mention above.

See this to be sure they do have IE 4.01 or better. <a href=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q164/5/39.asp> What version of IE do I have?</a>

You can't really use USB drives like that with Hyper-V. You should instead use an ISO image, which you can assign to the VM as a CD-Rom.

Issue
My brother has a PC with Windows 10 and two Administrator Users:
#1 User: MS Account (the main one, used by my brother)
#2 User: Local Account (Secondary one, used by myself)

Since the login page is usually bypassed in this PC via netwizpl setup, none of us usually need to insert a password at startup, but after a Windows Update the login page reappeared, and my brother can't access his MS account any more because his password is not recognized.

Useful info

It's no keyboard issue: the keyboard layout is consistent with settings and we also checked the correct password spelling with the "eye" icon
Resetted MS password, but no joy: we have tried to reset the MS account password. The new password grants access to the MS account at https://login.live.com, but it's still useless when trying to login to Windows with the MS account.
All OK with the Local Account: the Local Account still grants login, and since it's an Administrator account it still allows access to the other account data.
Haven't done a Restore (yet): An obvious (but not necessarily effective) solution could be a Windows Restore. I'll probably try to Restore a previous System State if I don't find a better solution, but I'd prefer to understand the cause of this issue.

A:Windows 10 doesn't accept Microsoft Account password change

Have you gone into the MS account from the local account and changed to the new password?

I assume that your local account is of the Admin group, which should give you access to the MS account settings.

Hello everyone,
I have had a Hotmail account for around 8 years now and it is the hub of all my Microsoft apps (Office, Facebook, Xbox, Windows Phone ..etc) but it has come to an unmanageable point. The e-mail address I have being using for this Hotmail account is linked to everything.
I would like to remove the Hotmail e-mail address I have so that I can have a new outlook account, starting afresh from the years of junk that has been accumulating uselessly in my e-mail. This of course affects everything, because even though as i don't use the Hotmail e-mail it lingers everywhere plaguing my notifications (continuous notifications on my laptop, phone ..etc).
So I would love to create a new Outlook account which I can use a working e-mail but also transfer all of my apps that I have from the Hotmail account (Office, Xbox live, Windows Phone..etc) to my new Outlook account. I've tried a few things but have been very cautious because I don't want to lose my apps, especially seeing as I have paid for things such as Office.
Please help because I am desperate to have a functional Microsoft account !

When I first setup my Windows 8 (now 8.1) notebook I used an email address for my Microsoft Account that I now no longer want to have associated with this account.  This is the MS Account that I use to login to my notebook, Onedrive and Office
365 to manage the 5 installs that are provided.  In reading several MS forums, it now appears all you have to do to change your MS Account email (alias) is to set up a second alias, then move that to your primary alias.

This sounds easy, but how does it affect your Onedrive and Office 365 installs that are linked to this.  I know the Onedrive and Office 365 setups use the MS Account also, so will they all just magically change too?  I'm just a little leery of
doing this and then finding my Office no longer works or I can no longer login to my notebook.

Does anyone have experience with this and found it to work?

A:Will changing primary alias in Microsoft Account affect use of Onedrive and Office 365?

Ok, guess I answered my own question.  I switched the Microsoft account off the Primary Alias and substituted my new email address for it.  When I turned the notebook on it of course still had the old email address showing, but allowed me to
login just fine.  After a few minutes I kept checking it by going on and off the lock screen where the email address is displayed and it changed by itself to the new email.  Also all the Apps and Windows store eventually updated to the new email
address.  The only thing that hasn't yet is Office programs such as Word and Excel.  They work fine and sync with the Onedrive still, but remain showing the old email address.  When I did the switch a dialog box came up and said it could take
48 hours for this to process through all applications, so not worried about that yet.

I am Arun Kumar Kushwaha and I have discovered one Big Loophole/Security Leak in Microsoft's Windows 7 Operating System worldwide.
through which we can Access/Delete/Copy/Replace Important Data without Cracking/Resetting the Login Password in Windows 7 OS
and for this we not need any 3rd party Software/ CD/ DVD/ Pen drive/ CMD/ Script/ or any other means of hacking Devices/tool.

only through Windows 7 OS we can Access anybodies Computer Around the world, and user will never get to know that his/her computer has accessed by someone else.
This is purely Microsoft's Negligence towards user's Around the world.

U can assume how much serious is this Issue, if anybody can steal confidential Important data of Company/ Govt data/ or any other Sensitive Personal data of anyone who are using windows 7 OS.

I have Talked through telephone to MS India regarding this Issue and they told me that there is no loophole in their OS and can't be accessed by anyone without having Login Password or User need to Reset login Password with tool/software available.

also i have mailed to MS Technical support Team and also asked about this issue on Windows worldwide official support forum, but not get any meaning full response from them.

I am asking this message to here, coz i want to Spread this issue around the world, so every user can secure their Data and also MS can rectify this issue by releasing an OS Update.

I am a 87 year old who had his first computer, a Commodore 64, in the early eighties and have enjoyed computers ever since, currently using WIndows 7.
Having just bought a smart 'phone, I find that I'm unable to buy apps for it unless I remember my Windows Live account password. The problem is that I must have chosen a password many years ago which I have never had to use and have therefore forgotten.
So the problem is resetting a forgotten password.
I spent literally hours yesterday complying and answering the same questions again and again, giving my second Email address, date of birth and location, mother's maiden name and the subject of my latest private Email, only to arrive back at the original log-on window. Microsoft once sent a temp. password for me to enter, which did not work.
The password reset file I made in a flash drive was a .psw file which crashed Word 2007, and didn't work.

It is obvious that many people have had the same problem with Microsoft.

Hello Perfectchaos, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Sorry, but if you want to use a Microsoft account instead of a local account, then you must enter the password for your Live ID account since that is used as your Microsoft account.

As a workaround, you could use the tutorial below to have Windows 8 sign in to your Microsoft account automatically at log on so you do not have to manually enter your password.

Yesterday I got a client's Lenovo Desktop 8.1 with a corrupted Microsoft Account Password only in the computer. The Microsoft Account signon is ok, just the computer has the issue with it.  I have worked on this problem for many hours, and with no success. The computer is a Lenovo Desktop with Windows 8.1 installed with an SSD and an HHD drive. There are no markings on the case to tell me model number. I also realized after awhile that you need to hold down the Shift Key when either powering off or restarting to insure a complete boot up.
1. My client apparently opened an email that messed up his computer. He contacted Microsoft and one of their technicians got into his computer. From that point on apparently the microsoft account signon password got corrupted only inside his computer. I can signon to his Microsoft Account, got microsoft to send me a code so I could reset his password. This worked on his account only. Still cannot logon to his computer - password failed - try again message.
2. I tried F1 - Bios, F12 - Boot Menu and cannot get past the CMOS password. Boot menu lets me past but cannot change anything - trying to change boot order so I can boot to Hirens. F1-Bios gives me a fatal error. I also tried F10 to change Boot from Standard to Legacy - F10 does not work on this Lenovo Desktop.

A:Microsoft Account Password in Win 8.1 Corrupted - Need a workaround

I am not sure how Microsoft got past the CMOS password. There should be a jumper allowing you to clear CMOS which would remove any password. With the CMOS battery removed hold down the power button for 30 seconds to remove any residual power.

The computer has SecureBoot enabled so no disk will boot even if you could get to the F12 boot menu.

Is there any sticker on the back of the computer?

I have Windows 7 so had no idea how screwed up this could get. I've googled this for 3 hours and the simplest of answers will never be provided. No one seems to be able to think thoroughly on this.

My 90 yr old dad has a hosed PC. It now has his login screen associated with an email address. He can't remember the password and trying to reset it with live.com also doesn't work.

Here's what we have:

email-address-user (Microsoft account) with admin privileges
locked out

If one resets email-address-user's password via live.com, does THIS AFFECT POP3 access? Meaning, is this password reset only for logging into one's PC or is this reset password synched with the actual email server one uses to download their emails? This WOULD be a very valuable piece of information but no website deems it useful. My reason for asking is I don't want to reset his password and then have it such that he can't read his emails. And I'm not about to try to communicate over the phone what he would need to do to update his client email (or internet access) password.
To get to the desktop, I tried a ton of things but the only thing that worked was net user administrator /active:yes.

What I would like to do is "revert" the email-address-user from a Microsoft account to a local account. I'm 100% game to edit the registry 100 ways to Sunday. I've poked around googling and no one will provide the simple registry layout for a Microsoft account and a user account. It seems if I try ... Read more

TOTALLY.
I have to enter my damned password several times a day... really annoying.
Have you tried the netplwiz app to bypass needing a signature?
It does not work for me, but may for you...
Go to start.
type netplwiz and click on apps, see one listed, run that, UN check the box which says a password is needed.
That SHOULD do the trick but does not.

I think part of my problem is having 8 win8 systems at home, all with the same username... but you would think Wiindows 8 could allow a user like me to network with my own computers without having to deal with permissions etc... really irritating.

Mark.
