I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey guys, so everything is in the title. Can I use G580's Battery with Lenovo G500, since their specs are basically the same, except for the mAh.Where I live I onlu have access to the G580 battery, and here, we don't really do returns, except if the item is flawed. So some insight will help me a lot. Thanks in advance.

A:Use G580's Battery with Lenovo G500

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Yes, you can use the battery.  That G580 battery is compatible with several Lenovo models including the G500.

mAh is related to the battery's capacity.  The higher the number,  the longer the battery life between charges.

Hi. I've got a Lenovo G580, now five years old. Last week, I pressed the turn-on button and it kept eternally blocked at the logo screen. After some research, I removed out the SSD Disk and I can succesfully boot from an external USB bootable linux live.Furthermore, I can boot the SSD drive If I connect it from an external USB disk reader. It looks like there's a problem somewhere in the hardware that connects the disk with the computer. How can I diagnose where exactly the problem is? The bootable linux live said something about the ATA3 unit (see screeshot attached), so here there might be a clue.Once I've found where does the problem come from, how can I fix it? Thank you in advance.

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Hi. I've got Lenovo G580 (20150) and I'm trying to install the geforce graphics card present in the system. I don't know exactly what the gpu model is but it's something akin to Geforce 610M. I've got Windows 8.1 installed and the drivers from Lenovo support page for this laptop don't work (I tried drivers for Win 8.1/8/7). During installation the drivers installer says that it "couldn't find appropriate hardware". I also tried various drivers from sites like driveridentifier but none worked. I even installed Win 10 and Windows Update found but couldn't install the drivers. I also have  Win 8.1 freshly installed. It's definitely not an OS problem. I also don't have recovery dvds/partition... Here are the graphics identifiers:PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&SUBSYS_397717AA&REV_A1PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&SUBSYS_397717AAPCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&CC_030200PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&CC_0302

My g580 ran out of battery while using it, and now it gets stuck on the lenovo logo. I tried a different hard drive which changed nothing, I've tested both hard drives on a different computer and they both work. However when I boot the laptop with no harddrive it will get past the logo go to a screen saying something about an unplugged cable then reset and get stuck on a blank screen.   If I plug in my windows recovery usb drive( and no harddrive) the the machine will boot normally and go to the windows installation screen. So any ideas on why a working harddrive would stop the system from booting? Also I've tried the whole taking out the battery unplugging it holding down the power key and then plugging it back in thing, did nothing.

Avoid purchasing lenovo y40!! I have a lenovo y40 about 2 years old now. About 6 months in, computer shut off without warning, battery guage stopped charging around 40%, randomly said 100% on some days, and eventually shut off without warning within 5 minutes unplugged. I posted on the forum and did every single solution lenovo suggested and solutions other people have tried and ended up having to purchase a new battery after several several months of trying to fix it, for about 100 dollars. Fast forward another 6 months with my second battery and the symptoms are back. Computer shuts off without warning within 10 minutes. I even took very good care of my battery this time, making sure to unplug overnight and letting battery drain good amount before charging. Just two weeks ago my computer was completely fine, and this happens all of a sudden. There is definitely a flaw somewhere. My battery guage will show 100% one moment, then shut off the next. Upon booting up it says 0% again. It charges up to 100% again over time and then the cycle starts again. If lenovo has any new solutions, im willing to try, but im not going to try all the old solutions from the other threads. I have been a lenovo fan for a while but with constant investments going in to fix the products, its incredibly frustrating.

Hey guys;I purchased a Lenovo Y700 almost 1.5 years ago (Lenovo ideapad Y70015ISK and Product Number: 80NV). I have never played a game on this, mostly net browsing, working with office products, watching youtube vids, and this sort of light tasks. The battery has been lasting for almost 4 hours until recently. By the way, I did not keep the the laptop connected to the outlet for all the time. When it was fully charged, I would unplug it. At least, i did it for 80% of the time.A few days ago, I noticed that the battery is not holding charge as before. I realized that now it only last for around (less than) 2 hours. It is really surprising for me, as It di not start to decline slowly and gradually. It suddenly went from 4 hours to 2 hours. What is happening with my battery? The Lenovo Vantage shows the battery is in "Good" condition. Is it dying? Is less than 2 years a normal life time of such batteries? Thanks

Hi,

If you want to have a bad equipment, choose Lenovo.
Poor hardware and client support as poor as their hardwareFew months after buying a Lenovo Laptop (one of my bests errors). i had a soucy with my battery (it held 2h instead of 4. However, i took all the precautions to take care of the battery, when it was a 100% of charge, i unplugged the laptop).
I contacted the french client support Lenovo, all they answered was to restore the computer (so to format the hard disk drive) and to call them.
Lenovo is the biggest error that the computing knew.
My rate ? 0 (as well as for quality of the laptop than for the french customers support).

Hi Michel47 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

What I am led to believe about the technical supports goal on the factory reset is to immediately isolate that this is not anything affected by the software . If you are to have the same charging issue then most likely you would offer service needed by your machine specially with the battery.

Back up your files as needed and try to continue with your technican and have this issue attended as soon as possible.
Hope you both arrive on what would work best for the case in hand.

And I switched it on again, it showed 0%.For the solution, I tried to download Lenovo Energy Manager for Windows 10, the driver was loaded but the application did not open so I could not use it. My Y50-70 battery is still in good condition after 3.5 years of use, I can tell by the fact that it lasts for more than 2.5 hours in High Performance mode going from 100% to 20%. I mostly use the laptop plugged in with Conservation Mode on. I regularily do cycles of the battery mostly when I'm traveling with Conservation Mode off. The cycle count is around 200, so I know it's half way its service life. However when the battery reaches around 20% I need to imediately plug it in, because then it could go down to 0% in a minute. In fact when it shows 20%, the moment I plug it in AC the battery gauge shows imediately 0% and then is slowly going up. I'm like 95% sure that the problem is with the battery gauge, and there was a Battery Gauge Reset option in the Lenovo Utilities preinstalled on the Windows 8 OS that came preinstalled when I bought it. Windows 8 and 8.1 were such a disasters but luckily then in less than a year came Windows 10 and everything ran smooth, except for the fact that Lenovo dropped half of the utilities to perform useful tasks like Fan Dust Removal and Battery Gauge Reset, instead they are offering useless software like Photo Master in the Support Section. Somehow I managed to install two years ago a version of Lenovo Quick Optimizer that does the trick for performing Fan Dust Removal but no luck with Battery Gauge Reset. Hi guys, first post here. I've had my Y510P for a little over 2 years now, around last year I experienced an unexpected shut-off and the laptop became unresponsive for a few days (as I did not yet know a work around, could of gone back on immediatly as I later discovered). The problem is that, when the laptop eventually dies on battery power, if you plug the laptop into the mains and try to turn it on absolutly nothing happens and there is no sign of life. This is only resolved if the battery is removed, the mains power cord is unplugged at the wall and plugged back in, and the laptop is powered on via only main power. At this time the battery can be inserted into the laptop when it is already on and the battery will charge as normal and the laptop can be then unplugged and remain on until the battery dies again and the cycle repeats. I have purchased two replacement batteries and tried two seperate chargers and the problem is consistent, would love to hear if anybody has has/had this problem and managed to find a solution, if you need any more info please leave a reply. Many thanks

Recently my trusted X1 Carbon, which had a normal battery life after about 5 years of use, of about an hour or so.  Recently this suddenly changed to 15 mins so I thought it was time to change the battery.  After buying a "new" battery off of eBay, giving it a full charge and pulling the power cable to test it something strange happened... It first said that there was approximately 2+ hours of normal operation, so I continued to use it.  It seemed to operate normal but after about 50 mins or so when the battery was apparenly at 68%, it just jumped to 15% and went into low power mode. Does anyone know if this is a problem with the battery or is there an underlying issue? Any drivers or firmware I should be upgrading. Thanks in advanceKW

Like totally black...if you needlessly stare at the black screen for a few seconds you can see very very faint background (which is the desktop itself)...and when plugged back in, the brightness comes back alive again.Brightness controls are working well, drivers are updated. I even OneKey recovered my laptop to its initial state but to no avail. Still has the problem. The laptop is currently at factory state, still functional with that brightness being an issue on battery mode.

When the options appear, press the SHIFT key and select "Restart". When the next screen appears, select "Turn off your PC". The unit will power down completely.See if you still have the battery draining.Note: Even if the unit is off, a little drain is expected to maintain the clock, etc.

A:[G580] Battery plugged in, not charging!

hi Laurent,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

The Lenovo Energy Management is probably limiting / protecting the battery from overcharging.

Can you try the following:

1. Apply this Plugged in not charging message fix (Windows 7 only)

2. In Windows 8, uninstall Lenovo Energy Management and test. If battery stays charging, reinstall Lenovo Energy Management and observe:

Lenovo Energy Management      Lenovo Energy Management

3. If you still get the same error, try to:
a. turn off the computer and remove the battery and AC adapter.
b. press and hold the power button for 30 secs and reconnect the AC adapter
c. turn ON the computer and continuously tap F2 to boot into the BIOS, when you're in, press F9 to load defaults and press F10 to save and exit.

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

A:Lenovo G580 - ssd compatibility

Hi Welnk,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Although the G580 model was not released with SSD, several members have successfully upgraded their HDD to their choice of SSD as discussed here.

We cannot guarantee Intel® SSD 540s Series but should work as long as the specifications are the same else you can scan it with crucial to match. Best to check return options when purchasing from third party resellers just in case.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards
