HP932c won't print from desktop will print from laptop

Q: HP932c won't print from desktop will print from laptop

I have a HP932C printer that has been working for years. I have an XP desktop PC and a laptop using a wireless netowork. Yesterday, prints from the desktop have the black character very light or unreadable. The color prints fine. Printing using the laptop and the same printer works fine. After the problem started I did update to the current driver from HP on the desktop.
How can the black not work from the desktop but does work from the laptop?

Preferred Solution: HP932c won't print from desktop will print from laptop

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: HP932c won't print from desktop will print from laptop

The only thing that comes to mind (mine anyway) is that the Print Quality setting (or some other variable setting) is different on the desktop.

So if the cartridge is going low on ink, and the laptop is printing best quality and the desktop is set to Draft quality, that might explain the difference.

Just a shot in the dark!

I have an HP932C printer which will not center the print cartridges when I open the lid. The cartridges are stuck all the way to the right and not accessible. The On/Off button and Print Cartridge Status button continually flash. When turning the printer on there is a slight faint noise like a dash dash dot dot. Pushing on the side of the stuck cartridge also produces the same noise. If the printer has failed how might one get the print cartridges out since I have another printer that uses one of the cartridges and they are relatively new. Thank you.

A:HP932C Print Cartridges Won't Center

Most of the 932c printers I've seen that exhibit this problem are dead. HP posts some troubleshooting steps for the problem here, and the steps for removing cartridges from a jammed cradle are here.

The entire troubleshooting operation doesn't take long, so it's worth a shot.

I have a laser printer that's connected to a desktop running Win 7. The printer is set to SHARE. I got a laptop that I want to print from through the desktop. Is this possible? The printer is not wireless and I don't have a print server. I have wireless network running on my Linksys router, but the desktop and the printer are not on it.

I have the desktop and laptop on the same WORKGROUP, but when I try to add the printer on the laptop by selecting a NETWORKED PRINTER option, I get an error.

A:Print from laptop through desktop PC

What are the two flavors of Win7? If they are both 32-bit or both 64-bit, should be no problem. I take it the desktop is hard-wired into the Linksys so they are on the same network? How about other network locations between the two like the Public folders? What are your settings in advanced sharing settings, and what exactly is the error?

I have a desktop printer connected via USB to my desktop PC running 64 bit Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC. I am trying to print to it from my laptop which is running 64 bit windows 7. I have both firewalls disabled along with the router firewall (I saw on another post to do that).I have network sharing enabled on both the computers along with the printer being shared. I can print from the laptop if it is connected by usb and it will print from the desktop. So its not a driver problem. This I know but the tricky part is I just printed a page out from firefox and it printed out fine so I turned the firewalls back on and I haven't been able to print from the laptop since even if I turn the firewalls back off. It has to be connected because my little printing progress screen is coming up just like it does when its printing. What I don`t understand is it worked fine before I turned the firewalls back on now it wont work even with them off. This has been going on all day and it`s driving me nuts I won`t be able to sleep until I figure it out any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was an old thread with this same concern and I tried all of the suggestions posted there. The most frustrating thing about my scenrrio is this freakin thing worked fine till I uninstalled/reinstalled my printer on the pc.

I have a Lexmark x2470 connected via USB to a Desktop running XP. My Laptop is running Vista Business and connected to my Desktop via a Netgear wireless router.
I can access files on the Desktop from my Laptop and access files on my Laptop from my Desktop. I can print from my Desktop but cannot print from my Laptop.
I know that many others have had the same problem and have tried the solutions that solved their problems -- none worked for me.

Solution 1-

This is how I got my Vista Laptop to Print to a Shared Laser Printer which is connected via USB to my XP Desktop computer.
1. On your Vista Laptop, Go to Control Panel - Choose Printer - Then Choose Add Printer
2. Choose Add Local Printer
3. Click on Create a New Port, the default in the drop down list is Local Port. Do Not Change this. Click Next. You may have to type in Local Port. You will then be presented with a list of printer manufacturers. Select your vendor and specific printer from the list. If your printer is not listed, select the closest match. My printer is not on the list nor can I find any documentation on the web as to which is the closest match.
4. A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in \\computer name\printer name. For example, M... Read more

I have a laptop connected wirelessly and a desktop running from a modem.
Both are connected to a Brother printer. The laptop via wireless connection. The desktop hard wired via USB. Both print OK. Here's the problem. When printer is turned on and I print from it, somehow my desktop shuts down. I have searched and searched, but no so;ution as to what is causing this. I did however found a work around. I must turn printer on FIRST then the desktop. Doing this, both machines print with no problems. The laptop does not shut my desktop down when it prints.
However when I turn on my desktop, and then printer , when I print wirelessly from laptok, it will shut down the desktop.....

A:When Laptop wifi to print my desktop shuts down

Well - that is a weird one :-)

If you want to dig into why the shut down is happening, download Process Monitor.

There is nothing to install.
Just download/open the zip.
Copy the files to some folder.
Open Procmon.exe
Say Yes to the User Access Control - if needed.
Agree to the EULA.

Stop Process Monitor from gathering its data (Ctrl+E).
Clear the current data (Ctrl-X).

Click on File > Backing Files...

Once the next little window appears, select "Use file named:"
Use the button to the right of that field to...
...select any path that you want (maybe the desktop?).
Type in any file name that you want.
"OK" your way out of that window and the next one.

Make Process Monitor gather data again (Ctrl+E).

Send a print job to your printer from the laptop.

When the desktop shuts down, it should correctly close the Process Monitor Log (.PML) file. You can restart the desktop computer - locate and double click on the PML* file. Scroll to the bottom of the data and work your way up. See if anything stands out.

*If there are several of them, pick the last one created.

If you don't see anything odd (or the info is just too hard to make sense of) then zip the PML file and upload it to your next post... I'll see what I can see in it.

This is driving me nuts! hehe... Seriously though, I have a laptop running windows XP and a desktop with Vista 64. The HP 932/930 printer is attached to the desktop unit. I've read and done everything on the page below to enable printer and file sharing...

I was able to get the printing on the laptop to work, but only after I did the following: try to access the Vista PC via the list workgroups computers, the laptop would ask for the username/password of the Vista PC, after that was entered, I could print but only until the lpatop was shutdown then you have to di it all over again. I don't want my username/password out there, so I disabled the need for passwords on Vista via the link above, but the laptop still asks for it and still won't print.

There seems to be endless articales on Google for prinitng from Vista to an XP connected printer, but mine is just the reverse. Has anyone else here run into this same situation?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Whenever I print to the shared printer on my Windows 7 desktop, the print job will just sit in the print queue. If I stop and then start the print spooler, the job will print. It happens from an XP laptop. Print jobs sent from the local Windows 7 computer print just fine.
How can i solve this one ? :(

This issue with some particular laptop running windows Xp and windows 7 Home

A:Whenever I print to the shared printer he print job will just sit in the print queue

So, the Windows 7 Desktop has the printer physically attached to it and it's shared?
And the XP laptop is sharing the printer through the network? If I understand you correctly?
If so, on the XP Laptop, go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. Are there any devices with yellow flags? Or Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? Or any listings for the printer? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the Add Remove Programs uninstall any drivers or software for the printer. Now,go to Printers and Faxes, and if the printer icons is there, Right click the shared printer icon and Delete it. And Restart the computer. Now when the computer comes back up, go to the printer manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in the model# for the printer and download the driver for the printer for XP and install it. Now, go to Start/Run and type the computer name of the Windows 7 machine (ex) \\ComputerName and press enter. A window should open up with the shared drives on the 7 computer, with the shared printer. Right click the shared printer and choose Connect. This will add the printer to Printers and Faxes again. Right click this printer/Properties and print a Test Page.

Hello to all!

It has been a while since this problem first occurred. Now it has become unbearable. When I try to print, use print preview or enter page setup, Microsoft Word 2003 freezes. The same thing also happens with other Office 2003 programs like Microsoft Excel 2003.

I am not sure if there is a problem with my printer driver (the printer is an HP L2600n by the way) as I have reinstalled it many times AND I have no problem using it as a network printer and can print the same word documents FINE from laptops or other desktop computers in the house. Thus I know that the documents aren't corrupted. I can also print .pdf documents fine from this computer. I think this problem started when my laser printer driver 'disappeared' and when I tried to reinstall it I got a spool-related error. I reinstalled the spool driver and then when I tried to print a .doc file I was unable to do so. The problem may most likely be linked to Office 2003 itself but I have tried options like deleting the data key and renaming the normal.dot template, all which have failed to alleviate the problem.

I think that is all the information I can offer to assist anyone trying to help me with this matter, and I hope that the problem can be fixed without me having to reformat or something like that.

Thank you in advance.

P.S Not sure if this will also come in handy but my OS is Windows XP Professional SP2.

A:Office 2003 freezes when trying to print, use print preview or enter page setup

In Office, On the Help menu there is a 'detect and repair' option. It wouldn't hurt to run that. This could also be a sign that the hard drive is going bad (loosing stuff here and there)...

Hi, I just purchased an used computer with Windows 7Home Premium x64, this is an HP Slimline s5610f. The problem that I have is with a Brother HL 2040 series printer. It gave me a really hard time to install the drivers that I downloaded from the Brother website I kept getting a "0x00000057" error and "could not find suitable driver for this printer" error. Finally I decided to take the driver folders for this printer from my wife's computer and copied them to my computer and put them in the drivers repository under System32 and was able to install the printer after that with no problems.

The problem that I have right now is that the printer won't print, even though it told me that the driver installation was successful.

1-the print button is grayed out
2-If I click "printer properties" it tells me that the drivers have not been installed and asks if I want to install them.
3-If I install the drivers at this prompt it tells me that the drivers have been successfully installed.
4-Now it lets me access the printer properties but when I click "print test page" either nothing happens or it tells me that it failed to print and access is denied
5-If i close printer properties and try to access it again it tells me that the printer drivers have not been installed.

I get the same results with the printer connected locally trough USB or on another computer through the network.

I have an HP C5280 printer running wirelessly via a TP Link wireless print server and D Link Di 624 wireless router. I can print successfully from either my desktop (which is connected direct to the D Link router) or either of my laptops (wireless). However, when I select the double-sided print option I get a print error message after re-inserting the odd number pages to print the other side of the paper and then click 'continue'.

Could I resolve this by connecting the printer both direct to the desktop using USB AND leaving it connected via the wireless TP Link print server? This would enable me to print double-sided from my desktop (as I did before when the printer was only connected via the USB desktop port).

Just migrated our office to a new Server 2012R2 Print server. about a dozen printers installed via GPO to Windows 7/64 workstations. Mostly HP's running Universal PS driver (6.1), plus the odd Kip plotter and Xerox Copier.   For maybe 4 users
out of 30 some, there is a printing problem. When a print job is sent, it appears in the queue and then is immediately deleted.   No other indication that anything is amiss. No events fire, no dimming of the icons or exclamation points,
 no error messages.
That's the consistent part. There is also some inconsistent (but still bad) behavior I'm finding on the different PCs. For some, deleting and re-running gpupdate will  bring the printers back and printing properly, but only for a short time. Sometimes
only one or two printers will print, sometimes not. Sometimes logging in as a different user will install the printers, sometimes no.
I've been fiddling with this over the past few days and gotten absolutely no where.  Now I don't know what to look at next. Any idea would be appreciated!

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum, so my apologies in advance if it's in the wrong place.

I have 2 printers connected 2 a win98 Dell PC and have 2 XP Dell laptops that use the printers. I have had an HP laserjet 5MP and an HP color inkjet 1100 connected to it. The spool time to the 5MP has been normal. When I connected the HP 1100 a year ago, the spool time was very slow and it took a long time to get the print dialogue box to open, but I (ignorantly!) assumed it was the printer and since I don't use it often, just didn't deal with it. I just replaced the 5MP with a HP laserjet 2420 and it is slow, slow, slow to spool, to open a print menu, to open print properties, etc. When I turn print sharing off, it both printers print fine. I'm wondering if the win98 machine just doesn't have the processing speed necessary, but before I buy a print server or get an XP desktop to connect the printers to, thought I'd try to get some insight into the problem.

Thanks for any help!

Earlier this week, our laptop popped up something suspicious, which sent me here. I was assisted, and as far as I know, the laptop was cleaned out. I ran an MBAM quick-scan, ran ATF or something, and an SAS full-scan, and all came back clean. The original topic is here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/227843/potential-trojan-or-other-problem/I installed Avira Antivir, COMODO (firewall only), and Spybot S&D to monitor the registry in the future. However, since installing S&D, Vista has been giving error messages (ie, "Microsoft HTML Executable no longer working," or "Microsoft NET Command stopped functioning" type things). However, the actions I initiate appear to work, despite these errors. In addition, and the real bugger today!, is the printer will print out a document, but the print queue will not clear that item from the spool, and the printer is useless unless we restart the machine. (Stopping the spool, clearing that folder, and starting it again without a restart does not work.) I figure two things, maybe someone here (I was recommended to come here from that forum) can help:1. something with the S&D registry monitor program messed with some needed files? Hello Everyone,
I have tried searching and searching for this problem but nothing seems to come up with this particularly odd problem. I'm actually running 3rd party software hosted on an AS/400 system but from a Windows 7 32-bit computer. If I right-click the title-bar of the window and select print, the print dialog box comes up asking for the printer I want to use. I select one, then click "Print" and the following comes out on the page....
<See Sample.jpg> (Of course, that's not an actual page, it's a representation of what you'd see on the page, but it's accurate despite the fact that it's color. Anyway, the print screens come out light and don't scan in well.)
As you can see, the print dialog box is clearly visible on the page. This seems to randomly crop up only on Windows 7 boxes and once it starts, we seem to have no way to stop it.

OK, this one is a twist on a very often reported problem on these forums:

Internet Explorer 11 will not print and just shows an empty print preview page. (Edge works/prints fine).

However in this case I know what caused the issue but not how to resolve it. This issue CANNOT be repaired by the commonly offered 3 or 4 step Microsoft tips that are all over this site and elsewhere (disable protected mode, Low folder permissions, etc, etc,)

Here is the complete story: New laptop HP Z Book 17 with factory installed Windows 10 Pro. All worked great when first run. No issues. I installed Office 2010, Quicken, AutoCAD, Chrome ........ etc. All worked fine.
Then I installed a specialist program, 'Helvar Workshop' - which is a lighting control application that I need for my work and originally written for XP.
After installing the Workshop program it worked fine but I was no longer able to print or preview in IE11. This is not a new issue to me as it also broke the same functions with IE10 and 11 running on Windows 7. I only ever 'resolved the problem then by doing a system restore in Windows 7 and ultimately installing an XP VM to run 'Workshop'. In that configuration it did NOT break the print functions in XP's IE 6 or 7.

Having experienced the problem again on the new Z Book I went to System Restore and discovered that HP had supplied the machine without activating System Restore! Yes, I should have verified it was active before installing any apps ........ but seri... Read more

I have been operating this color printer for 3 years now in our small business. over the past year, we have erratic problems with fuzzy print..
Typically, the first page may be fuzzy( dots or ink below character) and the resy may be OK ... Or occasionally, a page or two in the middle of a print job may be fuzzy.
WE have had techs spend many hours, replacing parts, cleaing the drum and whle the quality is improved (not as fuzzy, we stll get an occasional page with this problem.
This has been a good printer.. the solid ink is easy to maintain and the overall ink cost seems less than other color printers we have had.

I've updated the drivers for the copier, changed the patch cable on copier and switch, moved it to a different port on the swtich. None of those things did anything. I am actually thinking there is something going on with the copier. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Help getting & installing a compatable driver for new Photosmart 7520.

Need to have 'Print Preview' in Printer Preferences. Newer Photosmart Printers have very few options under Preferences.

Have tried drivers for Office Jet 6100 & Deskjet 69800 as suggested in HP forums. Neither has 'Print Preview' in Printing Preferences.

My previous Photosmart C310 died, bought the 7520 as a replacement. If I remember correctly, when I upgraded to Windows 7 with the older Photosmart C310 I had to download an alternate driver. That printer worked fine for over 2 years with all the preferences. I failed to note the driver that worked with the C310.

Hope someone can help, or I'll return this one to Costco along with the $130.00 worth of ink.

A:Alternate HP print driver with 'Print Preview' for Photosmart 7520

After a week of frustration, I was able to locate an HP Forum with the information that works.
I used the alternate driver that was from my previous Photosmare C310.
Here is the link. Hope this is helpful for someone in the future.

I research genealogy and do a lot of text printing from my own compter files. The 'Print Preview' feature is crucial to how I print. It is next to impossible to find out if a new printer has this feature before buying. Sales people & manufacturer's website are next to usless.

When i try to print, the print window disappears. So cannot print. The zone alarm( Internet security) window comes up tells that dumprep.exe is going to start.

Also the printers in the printers & faxes in control panel disappears.

Then i get the printers back by restarting printspoll service from control panel.

The problem is with all the printers installed including print to PDF file.

waiting for guidance.

A:print window disappears when press print button

(Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, HP LaserJet CP1215)

When printing from Word (or any other normal application) the documents just sit in the print queue with Status = "Error - Printing".

If I stop, then re-start the Print Spooler service, they then print.

Strangely enough, this does not happen if I print from the HP printer diagnostic utility.

I've done complete re-install of the entire printer driver suite and I'm pretty sure everything that end is OK. So what's happening with the spooler? The error message isn't exactly very revealing .

Any help gratefully accepted!

My best advice would to contact HP with this problem. Maybe they might be able to help you.

I ran into a very odd issue today that as-is I only have working using a workaround. I have a 32-bit windows 7 machine. The HP 6968 printer is hooked into my wireless router via ethernet cable. I downloaded the drivers and ran the setup on another ethernet connected Vista 32-bit machine and a wireless Win7 64-bit machine. Both print just fine.

On the Windows 7 32-bit machine though, nothing will print. I can successfully SCAN using the printer listed under Devices & Printers so I know the computer is talking to the 6968.

When I do try to print I get a message saying that the job has been sent to the printer. The printer never starts and when I view the print queue nothing shows up. I have tried restarting the spooler service and that does not work either. I also made sure there was nothing listed in the "C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS" directory which there was not. One odd thing I did notice, is that when I print a file will show in this directory for a second and then disappear.

As a work-around, I set up the 6968 on the Vista machine (which is always on) as a shared printer. I then added this shared network printer from the 32-bit Windows 7 machine that I am having the issue with. On the Vista machine there is the option to "render print jobs on client machine" for the shared printer. When enabled, the Windows 7 machine will still NOT print. It's only after I UN-check this box so that the print jobs from the 32Win7 machine are processed... Read more

That's odd. AFAIK, for HP AIOs, one cannot simultaneously use both ethernet and wireless networking.
I think it's "either-or".
I am surprised that you can have both ethernet and wifi enabled on the HP at the same time.
Normally, one would need to disconnect the ethernet to use the wifi, or vice versa.

One *can* use a local (USB) connection + either ethernet or wifi at the same time, though.

I suggest the following for starters:
Disconnect the 32-bit Win7 machine from the HP
Fully uninstall all traces of the HP drivers/software and reboot
Download a fresh copy of the HP drivers/software from the HP drivers/downloads site HEREBe sure to grab the correct drivers/software package for 32-bit Windows 7
There are 2 choices -- the full bloatware package and the "basic drivers"

Reinstall the HP drivers -- make sure you are in a Windows account with Admin privileges when you do; do not connect the computer to the HP until the HP setup wizard prompts you to do so
Perhaps try a USB connection from the computer to t... Read more

I've been using various print drivers for various locations with success for a month with my new laptop. Today, all drivers gone. Loading new ones doesn't work. Print spooler is not "started;" it starts successfully, then is not "started" next time I look.

Other possibly relevant information: HP 1020, HP MX 340 at home office.

Tried: multiple restarts of print spooler, multiple reboots, troubleshooters, HP detect and download drivers

A:All Print Drivers Disappeared, Print Spooler Quits (7 Pro, 64-bit)

I would suggest you can try doing System Restore to a date when your system was working fine. If you successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer performs as expected, then Uninstall and reinstall the printer Driver and check the functionality of the printer.

If you are using windows 7 you can connect your USB printer by following few easy steps mentioned below:Plug in the printer, and ensure that it's turned off. Also, set up the printer with ink and paper and all that other good stuff, according to the directions that came with the printer.
Connect a USB cable to the printer and to your laptop.
Turn on the printer.
Since you're using a USB printer it installs software for you on its own. After the printer has been set up and recognized by Windows, you can either print or save some energy and turn the printer off.

If you're having trouble adding your printer, open the Control Panel and double-click the Printers or Printers and Faxes icon to display the list of printers available to your computer. The Add a Printer or Add Printer task can be clicked to run the Add Printer Wizard, which helps you complete the printer setup task.

You can even refer to the HP support URL mentioned for further troubleshooting: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-topics/printer-installation/printer-usb-troubleshooting.html

The print spooler chokes on both of my Windows 10 machines when trying to deal with certain pdf files. For instance when I tried to print https://thebasscase.files.wordpress....01/so-what.pdf via my browser (Chrome), it printed the first 6 pages, but the printer showed an error when it came to the seventh page. When I then tried to create another job just to print the seventh page, it just hung around in the print spool and nothing happened at the printer. I tried this several times on two machines. It was also impossible either to cancel the job in the print queue manager or to stop the spooler in the services manager in order to manually clear the print queue, which meant that the only way I could clear the queue was to restart the machine. I got the same behaviour whether I was printing to my physical printer or to the MS pdf printer. I also got the same behaviour when I tried to print from a different browser (Edge). This is not the first time I have had a problem with an unprintable file like this in Windows 10. Is there a solution?

A:Print spooler chokes when attempting to print certain pdf files

Chrome has had an issue with printing PDF's from the built in PDF viewer. There is nothing wrong with your printer, Windows 10 install or Print Spooler.

Save the PDF and then print from Acrobat if you need the pdf printed.

Google refuses to fix their problem.

If you open it in Firefox, it will print.

Got a weird one.
Previously to print a internet document page I pressed CONTROL + P, a form appeared with the word PRINT near top, I clicked on PRINT and then the Printer printed the page.
But now, when I do the CONTROL + P the form appears, the word PRINT blinks for a moment and is replaced by the word SAVE>
Now I have to go through about 7 separate steps to get the machine to send the page to the Printer, as follows:
1- Click on SAVE
2-next form....select My Documents and type in a file name to which the page will be saved
3 Go to My Document folder
4-Find File Name in My Documents and click on it
5- Click on open space adjacent to file now on the screen
6- Click on PRINT, located in lower right of screen

I have two user's one using Windows 7 64-bit OS and one using Windows 10 64-bit OS and both users applications hang when opening, for example when opening a pdf or just opening excel, and in the Windows 7 user's case he actually has to stop the print spooler
altogether to open any application.  Also, they can't print from any applications unless they restart the printer spooler or in the Windows 7 user's case disables the print spooler all together.  In the application event logs after our the august
software update push I see numerous application hang errors, event id 1002.  Has anyone else experienced these issues?

I have a fairly new PC computer running Win 8 64bit. Initial setup went off without a hitch. Wireless printers and such all worked fine.

Now, I select "print" from Microsoft Word, or Notepad, or any program for that matter, nothing happens, i.e. no print que, no printer page, nada. My control panel shows several printers installed. I have tried to delete all printers to start from scratch, however, the printer icons pop back up as quickly as I delete them.

I tried to install a newly purchased printer, but a message was returned stating, "no printer spooler service running" or something to that effect. I then opened the service page and turned the print spooler "on' in automatic mode. Nothing changed. It still returns a message about "Print Spooler not running", even though it is turned on in the services page!

I might add that this computer is part of a home sharing network with two other desktop PCs. They both perform flawlessly, interfacing wirelessly with the two HP printers on-line. The other desktops are running win 7 64bit.

I am truly out of airspeed and ideas. Thank you for your help.

I'm running XP Professional. Junk print jobs keep showing up on my Brother MFC 7840-W printer. When viewed in the print queue, the file has no name, but shows a size of 87 bytes.

The printer is installed on my computer. My computer is set up as a print server. I am still able to scan, make copies, and fax from the printer, and fax remotely from my computer. I have restored my system multiple times. I had AVG anti-virus on this machine installed a while before this started happening. I tried installing McAfee Security. The Tech Support at McAfee said there is no virus on my machine and that I should contact the printer manufacturer. Tech Support at Brother said to delete and reinstall the printer drivers. I have deleted and reinstalled the printer drivers multiple times.

I do not want to reinstall XP Pro because it may mess up the setup of an important business application which is no longer supported by the software creator.
