Preferred Solution: Solved: Do I need Adobe Air, Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader, please?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I have Windows Vista 32 bit and from the beginning I have problems opening pdf's from internetsites: my computer suggests that I install the recent version of Adobe what I did (succesfully as adobe says). I tried some of the suggestions I found on the internet: uninstall - install, execute as administrator, change the compatibility to Windows server pack 2, upgrated the internet explorer, but still it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot, Swaantje

Not sure where this should end up,but I'm sure it will be guided to the correct forum,as always.
After doing quite a bit of reading today,I decided that the Adobe PDF viewer is a resource hog. I uninstalled any traces of it I could find in my add/remove programs part of my pc. Just a few minutes ago while reading another post here at BC, I discovered I had to install Adobe Flash player to view an article thru YouTube.
My question is how does flash differ from the pdf viewer? They're both an Adobe thing,right?

I opted to download a small viewer called Sumatra,by the way.

Thanks

In this case, the problem is Adobe Flash more than Adobe/Acrobat Reader. I updated to Adobe Reader 9.2 from Adobe's website this morning and when I got home, it said Adobe updater needs attention. It was offering to install 8.1.4. Maybe because I haven't restarted yet. I thought that was weird. Several problems trying to open a pdf file after updating. Said tab has been restored and kicked me out of reader a few times. Finally it let me into the PDF and said it was parsing the data or configuring the file for reading or somesuch. I hope it stops behaving badly after a restart. paj692

What's the big difference if any between shockwave player and flash player? I see both in the control panel.

However, one says I have flash player 10, but I have just now downloaded their newest version 10.1. And that's been the second time at least for the same update. ??

The other says I have shockwave player 11.5. Both are Adobe.

By the way, in the control panel and over on the right side, there's a column that lists how often used and also where you can delete a program. But with the new version, altho it's listed as loaded on the left side, the right is blank except for the word delete. In other words, no listing for size like all the other programs.

The first link will provide the version needed by whichever browser you use to access it (an .exe version for Opera and Firefox). In the case of IE I always reject the Google toolbar, allow the Adobe Download Manager to be installed and then follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation. Some sites have an .exe version for IE which other people here seem to have used without problems.

I believe that a new version of Adobe Reader has also been released to deal with the latest security issues.

SITUATION
I created a pdf. file from a document that had 'fill-in forms'. I used Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0. to create the PDF file.

I then I burned the pdf. file on to a CD.

When I used my Adobe Reader 9.0 to open the PDF file, I could fill-in the forms, but not save them. I received a message that said I could not save the information, only print it unless I enabled the ‘local save capability’ in the original pdf. file.

I will be selling the CDs and need the buyer to be able to fill-in the forms, and then save the document on the CD or the buyer’s computer.

QUESTIONS
1. How do I enable the ‘local save capability’ on Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0, saving the document with the information typed into the fill-in forms?

2. How can I write protect the pdf. file so no one can edit it (except for the fill-in fields) nor duplicate the disk?

3. Has anyone bought a software product from www.SoftCaptain.com and if yes, what was your experience with the software product company?

A:Adobe Acrobat Professional & Adobe Reader

I can't answer all of your questions, but data on a CD is read only, you won't be able to save the edited file on that CD.
It can only be saved on the hard drive & then burned to CD again, if necessary.

When I go to certain websites, including certain myspace sites, I get a message that says something to the effect of "Either your JavaScript is disabled or you need to install the latest version of Adobe Flash player." I know that my Javascript is enabled. I've checked it like 15 times. I've downloaded the Adobe Flash Player using the error message link, and it tells me that my Adobe Flash Player installation was successful. My problems comes when... well.... it SAID that it installed successfully, but I can't find it anywhere. I have rebooted and gone back to the websites and it STILL says that I need to install the latest version. I've installed and reinstalled Adobe Flash Player and each time it tells me that it was installed successfully. I've looked om my computer and I can't find the program anywhere. I've searched everywhere.... so pretty much.... it says it installs successfully, but i sure can't find it and it sure isn't working...
So...
I hope all that makes sense.... I just typed this big long blurb to really just ask... Where's the Adobe Flash Player and how do I get it to work?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Are you referring to a video from email attachments or links?

What's the format for the videos? .flv?
If the videos are indeed from email attachments, and the format is .flv, you'll need a player capable of opening this type of file on your hard drive, not in streaming, in which case the Adobe Flash Player would work.

If you wish to play the videos on Windows Media Player, then you'll need the proper codec to play .flv videos.

Otherwise, many players will play that video format specifically, but if you're gonna download a player, might as well be the best, which can play just about everything, VLC Media Player.

Firefox just updated automatically. Then there appeared a screen saying to update Adobe Flash Player now. I didn't know what Adobe was (such a newbie) so I did a search and came up with many complaints about it.

It said it was for IE, Firefox and a couple of other browsers. I looked at the instructions where there were specific instructions for browsers but nothing for Firefox.

Do I really need this? Can I just keep using the version I have?

I occasionally use IE - will I have to update that too?

Obviously, I'm nervous about something going wrong with no tech to walk me through it.

Hello;
I am presently running Adobe Flash Player version 6.0.79.0 where it should be at least 8.0 or 9.0. When I come accross a download site where I'm supposed to be able to do an auto install of the more current (9.0) flash player, it goes through all the motions and even indicates on program add/remove that I installed it successfully, but the install never really takes and I continue to fail the update to the newer player. When I check and go to "FLASH.OCX", it continues to show the old 6.0 version and I'm still unable to run new Adobe flash content due to the failure of the new version install. Question is, can I remove the old version and add /install the new version 9.0 manually because it's not happening with Adobe Flash auto-install content sites like Yahoo, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated-

Hi. I want to update my Adobe Flash Player to the latest version. It states this for System Requirements

Internet Explorer 8.0 or later, Mozilla Firefox 17 or later, Google Chrome, or Opera 11

Now I have Firefox 17 or later which is what i use to surf the web but I have only IE7. I never use IE and never updated it to the later versions through the years. Does it matter since I do all my surfing with Firefox. Do I need to have the latest version of IE 8 or higher? I'm assuming that if I tried to use the flash player with my IE 7 it will simply crash the browser, but since I never use IE7 does it matter if my IE is obsolete to install and use this program since I'm only going to be using it with Firefox.

First let me say.. I probably do less with my computer than most.. I use it to browse and that is mostly it..

Every since I got this 8.1 computer it has nagging problems come and go and some , maybe wrongly, I have just learned to live with.

Now .. and I have not changed anything, however. for no reason that I can clue in on.. I am getting a pop up.

ADOBE FLASH PLAYER
An Action Script error has occurred
Type Error #1090
XML parser failure Element is Malformed (below is all I could get to copy)

TypeError: Error #1090: XML parser failure: element is malformed.

at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete()

it then has choice boxes of.... Dismiss.. or Continue
I have rebooted several times.. Searched the internet .. It seems I again have a problem that was solved in some means in 2011 or 2012 but unheard of in 2015..

any help on this one..??

Every time I bootup it blows out my windows adobe flash player and I'm asked to reinstall. I'm noticing on Google forums this is a problem but have not found a solution. I've downloaded the adobe uninstaller and have reinstalled several times. I have disabled my antivirus and tired it in safe mode without success. Now I have reinstalled an older version 10.3 but that doesn't work either. I'm using a laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. Please help.

So.. I'm having this issue where whenever I try to go fullscreen on youtube in Vista the page has a diagonal separator where the top half is white, and the bottom half is black. I'm guessing that it's a flash incompatibility with vista and youtube... but come on.
Anyone have any ideas as to how I would be able to fix this issue?

I have Windows 7 - 64 bit. Several sites have requested I download Adobe Flash Player 11. But after installation, it caused several websites to "load weird" when using Mozilla browser. These included Yahoo Mail, Facebook & Swagbucks. When I downloaded program to remove the Adobe Flash Player, the problem was corrected. Some sites won't let me view videos with Flash Player. What do I do. Like Mozilla best....and hate switching over to IE, just for a few sites. Can anyone help??

I've spent a LOT of time looking up this answer, and no luck so far. I go to download flash player 11.3 from adobe, and it downloads fine. I open the download (does the same with admin privileges) and it tells me my security settings prevent the file from being downloaded.

To me this suggested my internet settings were screwed up, so I went to control panel and reset them, then set it to medium high security with option to download files set to enable. This did not work and it seems like the only solution Adobe and anyone else suggests. Right now my work around was installing flash add-ons for firefox through the firefox add-ons menu and I can watch youtube videos, and use flash apps. yes internet explorer still has no flash, and sometimes my computer will stop responding and then when I restart windows explorer, the flash player symbol shows up on an application tab with no title and no options when I right click it.

If it helps any, computer specs are just updated on here and I am having issues updating java's virtual machine, yet java is running fine (I assume a background program is using it when I try and update, causing the failure there).
