I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,

I've been browsing the site and the internet for a sollution to my problem, but can't seem te find it. There are similar postings, but they're always just a little different. So that's why i posted the new thread.

Since a couple of days i've been experiencing troubles shutting down my PC and using my USB ports. It started when i tried to log onto my work from home. It failed and the IT guy from work told me to reinstall citrix reciever. So I did and I was able to work from home. After finishing and logging out (to get back to my own PC) I found that my USB portst didn't work anymore. I tried rebooting, but af 10 minutes of "shutting down" I got a blue screen: Driver Power State Failure with code 1000009f.

I did the following:
- tried system restore - it failed with different time stamps
- update drivers - they were all up to date the system said
- Malware Bytes, CC Cleaner, MS Essentials, Hitman pro - Did them all, had some minor stuff, fixed that, problem remained.
- SFC/scannow - no problems
- Memory check - no problems

As it is now, the only update I have left is the update to WIN10. However it has tried and failed during a few of the reboots, so that doesn't seem to be and option.

After try all different kinds of things from a lot of posts I decided to refresh my windows install. Did a lot of updating and still the problem remains. Although I now found out that USB devices that are plugged in upon startup work. Once I unplug en replug them, t... Read more

Hello guys,

I have seen lot of topics with the same subject as I have, but as I understand each of them is "special", so I am posting new one.

Sometimes when I restart / shut down my computer, it is turning off for few minutes (10 - 20m) and then I can see BSOD.
Last one was with Driver Power State Failure message - 011510-17128-01.zip minidump.
I have also few more minidumps - Minidump.zip (but I think almost all are with the same message)
I don?t know how to read it, so please, can someone check it and help me?

I have Acer Aspire 3694, Win7

Thank you very much for help

A:Driver Power State Failure BSOD

Most probably this is due to your Deterministic Network Enhancer Miniport or Cisco Systems VPN Client (dne2000.sys). Also, please note that the dne2000.sys file is listed below as being older. Also, this could be due to the other, network related drivers in the list below.

Please:
- download a new copy of the Win7 drivers for the Cisco VPN Client device
- uninstall the current copy from your system.
- install the freshly downloaded copy
- wait for further BSOD's.

Also, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

Quote:
How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- some driver links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers:

Hello- First-timer! Sorry, I hope this isn't a redundant post. I'm not too savy and don't understand all the lingo so go easy on me.

Backstory: This is my first post and I'm very new to the computer world (beyond the basics). I decided to try and take on my first build (everything new except PSU and case). Everything seemed fine until recently.

Problem: I keep getting the BSOD shortly after coming out of sleep mode. It mentions "Driver Power State Failure". I have read several posts claiming similar happenings but all of the replies seem very specific to people's hardware and associated drivers so I wasn't sure how to apply it to my situation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have attached my dump files.

Thanks!

These crashes were probably caused by your nvidia network driver nvmf6264.sys

I would download and install a fresh copy
I would also run a system file check
(to do that type cmd in search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow) note the space between sfc and "/")

A:BSOD - Driver Power state failure

Hi jeyaraj.

From the incomplete data you uploaded, we can say that the BSODs are caused by the wifi network adapter.

If you want further help on how to attempt to resolve the issue, you have to upload more data and info.

Click on the button below ....

It will download the DM log collector. Right click on the application and run as administrator. It will generate a .zip file on your desktop. Upload the .zip.

these crashes were caused by nvm62x64.sys part of your nvidia fforce hardware firewall.

I would remove it to test and put something else back later

I get a BSOD after working for a while and there seems to be nothing in common with the activities I am working on when it occurs. Computer is a HP Pavilion tx100 laptop with Vista Home Premium. I have attached the dump files from several occurrences. There were some additional files that for some reason I could not zip but are listed in a tex file included in the zip file. If you need them let me know and I'll try and send them

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

A:BSOD Driver Power State Failure

Thanks for the additonal info in the text file. These are the BSOD messages that are saved in your Event Viewer and will likely correspond to the dump files that I'm analyzing right now. The zip file contains 14 memory dump files from late May until very recently.

They are primarily STOP 0x9f errors with a single STOP 0xfe error.
The STOP 0x9f errors are a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE error,
While the STOP 0xfe is a BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER error

So, the most likely cause here is a USB device that's having trouble with "suspend" operations. Do you have any USB devices attached to your laptop? Does this problem go away when they're unplugged?

Now we wait for the analysis to finish......

Phew! It's finally done!

So, the analysis shows the primary suspect as being ATSwpDrv.sys (dated from August of 2007) - which is a component of the AuthenTec Fingerprint Reader. It's usually hooked up internally to the USB bus, so this tends to confirm the initial suspicions.

The HP website doesn't show a TX100 laptop, but does show 36 different versions of the TX1000. Use this link to determine the exact model of your laptop: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...t_page=product (it's the numbers that number 1 points to) Let us know what the model number is.

Next, go to Start and type in "control system" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let us know what it says under System...System Type

Armed with that information, we can visit this site an... Read more

If any other info needed let me know.

two things, first Uninstall Daemon tools and then run this program:

Duplex secure

when you run the tool if the uninstall box is greyed out then your done If it is not then click it and let it uninstall. DO NOT click the install button It will install a Driver known to cause BSODs.

Second I notice that your video card driver (which is what the crash dumps are blaming as the problem) Is one of the drivers from the Dec 29 batch there are two things you can try, seeing if there is another update, I have heard tell that there is a beta driver that might solve the problem, or you can install an older driver and see if it fixes things. the drivers can be found here.

All of these are blamed on acpi.sys. Can we get your system specs, BIOS version and date so we know what hardware we are dealing with?

I don't even know why this started but it did a few weeks ago. Funny, I've never had a BSOD before even though I've owned 3 or 4 computers. Anyway, this one has occurred several times and it always seems so random. It kinda seems connected to Standby or Hibernate because it usually happens after one of those two things occurs. In fact with hibernate I can usually guess that right after it comes out of hibernate, a few minutes later I will be greeted with the wonderful BSOD.

Here is the minidump. Help would be very appreciated.

KB 975599 Stop error when you put a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to sleep or into hibernation, or when you restart the computer: "0x9F"
KB 977186 Error message when you try to resume a Windows 7-based or a Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer from hibernation: "Stop 0x0000009F"

4 of the dump files blame atapi.sys (a Windows driver), while the 5th blames Apfiltr.sys (a component of your Alps touchpad drivers)

I'm not sure about the exact cause - but I would:
- check to see if the KB articles above apply to your system
- update your Alps touchpad drivers
- update your chipset/storage drivers
- update your graphics drivers

You can get the drivers from here: Select software and drivers HP Pavilion dv4-1225dx Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
Please uninstall the old drivers first, then install the freshly downloaded one's.

Please post back if that doesn't stop the BSOD's.

Hi,
I'm using a Asus UX32ln.
I've been having getting this BSOD for a while. However, I noticed that it only occurs some time (maybe 15-30mins) after i run an application using the dedicated GPU (Nvidia Geforce 840m). If only the integrated graphic card is used, it runs fine.
Thanks.

Hello,
I have been getting a Driver power state failure bsod for about a week now. Some days it doesn't seem to occur that much while other its several times an hour. From googling it seems like the issue is either an out of date driver or my ram. I"ve run "whocrashed" and "bluescreenview" which point to

This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x14F9A0)
Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFE00101519060, 0xFFFFD0018AB69960, 0xFFFFE00106234C10)

but I guess this isn't the actual driver (or ram) causing the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi jag213,

Welcome to the 8forums.

Please do the following:
Open an admin command prompt
Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
When it finished reboot your system
Open again an admin command prompt
Enter sfc/scannow again
If sfc/scannow doesn't say "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation", please upload the cbs.log file located at {windows partition}\Windows\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.

Hi,

The attached DMP files are all of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bugcheck.

This error occurs if drivers do not handle power state transition requests properly, usually during one of the following procedures: shut down, suspending or resuming from standby, suspending or resuming from hibernation.

First let me give a huge "THANKS" for this extremely helpful forum and service. I would not have any hope of correcting this issue on my own or without giving up my machine for a few days to an IT pro to fix it, which I do not have the luxury of time to do.

Here are my details:

? Windows 7 Professional (6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601)
? x64
? Vista Premium (2009)
? Original Vista was installed already, Windows 7 upgrade came from a retailer and I installed it.
? Age of system (hardware) - 3 years
? Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? I have not re-installed, but there are multiple copies of it because I added a new HDD and cloned the original before making the new one the primary HDD.

? CPU - Intel Core2 Duo T9550 @ 2.66GHz
? Video Card - NVidia GeForce GT 130M (1GM VRAM)
? MotherBoard - Don't know
? Power Supply - 90W, brand unknown

? ASUSTek Laptop
? N90SV

Thank you again for this service. I look forward to your diagnosis.

Please start by going to Device Manager and right clicking on the Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter(s). Select Uninstall and let it uninstall the adapter. Don't be surprised if the adapter doesn't come back when rebooting - the only problem would be if it still shows an error condition after rebooting.

I suspect that this will fix the BSOD's, but we'll have to look at the dump files and (at a minimum) replace the networking drivers just to be sure.

....Running the dump file now.....

The dump file blames e1y62x64.sys - a component of your Intel(R) PRO/1000 Gigabit Networking Adapter

Please download a copy of the latest Windows 7 64 bit driver for this device from the Intel Download Center ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx )
Then uninstall the current Intel networking driver from your system
Then install the freshly downloaded driver and monitor for further BSOD's.

Please also update this driver: 000.fcl Fri Sep 26 09:11:22 2008
It is a component of the Cyberlink program installed on your system.

I've been dealing with random BSOD for months now when I sleep/hibernate my computer. Lately it has gotten quite bad and happens nearly everytime. I'm thinking it is a hardware issue, but I'm trying to rule out a software issue. I've tried to update every outdated driver on my laptop to the latest version. Nothing seems to help.

I've also run full hardware diagnostics/memory scans, and that doesn't reveal any problems.

Any help before I throw the computer out the window would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Hello,

I have a BSOD problem that states Driver Power State Failure. I read it is caused by a problem with a change in the alimentation mode or something, but this BSOD really happens randomly (last time occurred while I was reading a web page... I didn't even touch a key or the mouse).

I'm running Windows 7 32bits, my laptop is 3 or 4 months old (windows 7 was already installed).

I tried to run the batch from the "Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions", but no folder is created when it's done... I followed every step (also ran the batch as an admin) so I don't know where the problem is coming from. The batch runs smoothly until the end, but there is just no folder created in my Documents folder. (I don't know if this is normal, but on the line right after "We will begin in 5 seconds..." there is a message saying that "the path hasn't been found" (my os is in french, so I don't know exactly what is the original line in english) but the batch still runs to the end).

I attached my last 3 minidumps, the perfmon file and a msinfo32.nfo file.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I am getting these "driver power state failure" crashes with increasing frequency. I suspect it's a driver conflict involving my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra (music recording interface), which is connected via USB.

My computer is an HP 671-340US notebook, bought in June or July 2010, with Windows 7 Home Premium (and a whole bunch of HP bloatware!) already installed. I have eliminated some of the HP crap because it constantly interrupted my work, and shut down my computer right in the middle of what I was doing, if I missed the message balloon. Don't know if that contriubuted to the problem. I updated all the drivers and Win7 yesterday and today. Crashed again this morning. No hardware upgrades; using it the way it came.

I have attached all the system specs and diagnostics reports you requested.

If I missed anything, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi charlie and welcome.

You are of course correct about M-audio. It is blamed. It may be conflicting with one of the older drivers installed. I would update both M-audio and these old drivers. Some of these drivers including y our raid driver is from as far back as 2005.

Hello All,
I have been attempting to fix a win8 64bit issue on my dell xps600 for two weeks without success. I started the install with a clean install of win8 64bit and found that the BSOD started immediately. I have discovered that restarting the machine works fine and fast without any BSOD. However I get the BSOD when turning on the computer after shut down. I have nothing in device manager that is showing a problem and I've checked all but a few drivers that are old.

I really appreciate your time!

Steve

Looks like 5U877 UVC driver for Ricoh camera is the cause of the BSOD.

Hi,

I have been having a problem with multiple BSOD on my almost-new laptop (got it in November).

The blue screen will happen at completely random times, sometimes I am just surfing the web when it happens.
Today it has happened twice withing 10 minutes.
I have of course Googled it, but there seems to be a lot of different solutions, and they all rely on the mini dumps.

I have no experience when it comes to these crash dumps, but I have gathered them in a zip file and I really hope someone can see what the problem is!

My specs are as follows, please ask if you need more information:
XMG A723 Shark Gaming Edition laptop
Intel® Core™ i7 4th Generation Quad Core
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 765M 2GB GDDR5
3 x 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets supporting a maximum of 24GB 1600MHz DDR3 memory
Intel HD Graphics
Intel® HM87 Express Chipset
2x 9.5mm 2.5" SATA-III Drive
1x mSATA-III SSD

Thank you in advance!

Are you overclocking - either the system or the video card? If so, please stop until we're finished troubleshooting.

Please check the KB articles about hibernation/sleep at this link: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x0000009F

There are 11 memory dumps
3 different BSOD errors
and 4 different causes blamed (all are hardware or Windows drivers)
This makes a hardware failure a possibility. In particular, you have 4 STOP 0x124 errors - which are usually either hardware or compatibility based. Please follow the instructions for troubleshooting STOP 0x124 errors here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html

The P5 series of motherboards tends to have issues with RAM in Win7. Please don't use the Auto setting in the BIOS - rather, visit the website of the RAM manufacturer, get their recommended settings and use them in your BIOS.

Asus doesn't completely certify your motherboard for Win7 - so you may have issues that involve compatibility. Also, in this case, there is a driver present that is a known cause of BSOD's (ASACPI.sys dated from 2005). As there are no Win7 compatible drivers listed, you'll have to download the Vista 64 bit version and install it in Comaptibility mode. Again, this will be at your own risk as there's no guarantee of compatibility.

Here's the link to the page for the driver: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...ge=en-us&os=30
Expand the Utilities section and download the "ACPI driver for ATK 0110 virtual device&quo... Read more
