3 Displays on Lenovo M900 SFF

Q: 3 Displays on Lenovo M900 SFF

Hi, I have the Lenovo M900 SFF with 1 DP monitor connected and 1 TV via 1 DP-to-HDMI adapter. I'd like to add a second TV to the computer and was wondering about the most affordable/simple solution. I was looking at this Lenovo DP-to Dual-DP adapter https://support.lenovo.com/fi/en/solutions/pd027227 But i wonder if this will also work in extended mode for 3 displays when 2 are connected by DP-to-HDMI adapters? Would i need active DP-to-HDMI adapters or will passive do? Or is it simply easier to connect an additional graphics card to the computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Morning, Trying to figure out something here, this is, for all intents and purposes, something new for me, as I've been mostly a "Mom n Pop" Tech vs "Business Tech" so, anyway. I'm working with M900, and M910Q with Intel 530 Integrated for video. I'm trying to trouble the following issues to verify if I missed anything, before punting said minipcs to Lenovo for RMA. Anywho, issues: 1. A M910Q, only the DP port with the metal bracket will work. When the Primary is plugged in, any secondary plugged into the other ports will show up under that port when looking at it in the Intel GFX Display view. I figured this out when I changed the resolution on the 2nd monitor, primary changes. Primary is the live monitor. 2. We have a number of M910s and M900's where when trying to use dual monitors, thru DP -> VGA or DP -> DVI. Monitors would flicker like strobe lights. This can sometimes be bandaided by swapping cables and adapters, but not completely remove the issue. I will point out that we do not have any actual DP Capable monitors on site. Not yet anyway, and those that will be, are going to ThinkCentres with Discrete Cards in them... Ideas? Am I miss anything? I don't see anything in the BIOS to help me, and updating the drivers doesn't seem to provide resolution either. Most are running old drivers, but a few are running the latest for the machine.

Hello, I've got a Lenovo M900 SFF with Intel Core i5 6500 CPU with 8 GB of RAM (4x2) onboard and would like to use that CPU and RAM sticks on my custom rig. I am not expert in building computer rigs, so I was wondering if I could do that i.e. will that CPU work properly on another motherboard with factory RAM sticks? I've found out that the motherboard in Lenovo M900 SFF is a custom Mini ITX with 1151 socket and has 2 sticks of DDR4 RAM. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks. Here is the link for the model I am talking about:

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkcentre M900. Took it out of the box, connected it to a brand new Sceptre monitor, but there's no display on either the VGA or HDMI ports. Bear in mind that since there isn't actually an HDMI port from the tower, I purchased an HDMI to DisplayPort cable, and I tried utilizing the DisplayPort. The monitor just continues to show "no signal" from both ports. I even tried hooking it up to the HDMI on my TV, since I don't have another monitor to troubleshoot on, and same "no signal" message there. This leads me to believe that the problem lies with the CPU, and not the monitor. I need help here, as now the computer is past the date of returning it. Thanks.

A:Lenovo M900, no display. Help!

Does your M900 come with an add-on graphics card?  If so, it would be visible down at the top of the set of several expansion slots (as you look at the rear of the machine standing up vertically).  That add-on graphics card would have its own video connectors.

When an add-on graphics card is installed and the BIOS is set to its default "AUTO" setting, it is only the graphics card's video connectors which work, not the built-in motherboard video connectors.  And you should connect your monitor to the video connectors of the graphics card, not the motherboard.  That is the design, to make use of the superior add-on graphics card if one is installed.

When I bought this M900 from Amazon, I did so because it says that it's got a wireless network connection (Bluetooth?). When I look at the "Network" options in the Settings menu, it doesn't show anything related to 'wireless', only ethernet, and tells me I need to plug in an ethernet cable. After researching a bit, what I've learned is that different versions of this model have various different networking setups. How can I tell EXACTLY which version I've got? I'm looking for an "About" section where it might tell me, but can't seem to find a precise model/ version number. This is getting maddening now. I just want to use my brand new computer. Please help! Thanks in advance.

So I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre M900 tiny with an i5-6500T processor, SSD, it crashes once maybe twice a day over an 8 hour working shift. I do data valedation in magento 1&2 so have lots of excel spreadsheets open but I find it doesnt matter how much or how little I have open, it crashes reguardless. What happens is the screens stop responding, the mouse will still be free to move for about a minute across the frozen pages before stopping too then this wont resolve itself and requires a hard reset- I've treid waiting half an hour before and still nothing. My worst day was 12 crashes and on average its 3 a day. This has gone on for a year now and in that time I've had a Lonovo technician come out and take a look, he changed the motherboard but still the issue stays the same, Ive tried more RAM, less RAM, the CPU is fine, I'm running off ethernet, loads of free disk space, not alot saved onto the memory. Hi,   I have a M91p tower, 7052-A8U, with the factory 2 port AMD 5450 card installed.   According to the data sheet, this AMD card "works with the Intel HD Graphics to support four independent monitors."   I have not been able to get a 3rd monitor on either internal port to work at the same time as the AMD ports (selecting the IGP in the BIOS video will enable the internal ports, but disable the AMD.)

Is there a trick to making them all work?  I can't be the first one needing more than 2 monitors (I will need 4 total.)

More info:  factory Win 7 64-bit SP1;  I re-installed the current AMD software and drivers from the Lenovo website for this system, Intel HD graphics and BIOS updated.  Video is set to "Auto" in the BIOS (was the default), all monitors are the same 1920 x 1080 resolution. Clicking detect in Windows or AMD Catalyst shows only the two AMD connected monitors.

I spent an hour on the phone with Lenovo (IBM) tech support, no joy.   They were going build a system to test, and call back, but haven't heard from them.

TIA for any information or suggestions.   Alan.

A:Lenovo ThinkCentre M71e - M900: 3 & 4 monitor support (three, four)

Never mind, I found the answer -- why isn't this in the User Guide???   And yes, it does work!

Enabling multiple monitor support -  Edge 71, 72, 91, 92; E73, M71e, M81, M82, M73, M83, M83p, M91, ...

Symptom:  Unable to configure more than two displays while 3 or more are attached to the system using a PCI-Express video adapter graphics card and the Intel HD Graphics.

Solution:  Default BIOS setting for the video Devices is [AUTO] and must be changed to [IGD] and then enable Multi-Monitor Support in the IGD section in BIOS video Setup, F10 Save and exit.

The following BIOS settings are required:
Select Active Video = IGDMulti-Monitor Support = Enabled

One stick of 16GB will work (using that now), two sticks however shuts down the system 1 minute into power up (fyi makes it into Windows desktop, whole process took 1 minute before power down)...

I used Crucials memory checker, received two DDR4-2400 sodimm 1.2v cl17 16gb dual sided chips (kit of 2x16GB).  System would power up, go into Windows 10, be up for Approx 1 minute and system would power off.  You cannot repower the system, it turns on and shuts off immediately.  Pulling power to the device, plugging in again, will let it power to same point as before.  Approx 1 minute into having both modules installed.

Currently using a single module of the 16gb DDR4-2400 sodimm.  The stick that came out was from the manufacturer, an 8gb with QC M02089 on it, no other markings.  It will not work in either socket with the 16gb chip, so can't go 24gb onboard (must be different clock or voltage).  TC steps as follows:

- Both 16 gb chips installed, power off after 1 minute up.
- Single 16gb chip, stable

- Swap 16gb chips in sockets, power off after 1 minute up

Thought I would put this question out there while I am continuing to investigate my issue. If I find a solution on my own I'll post it here as well. I have an image process which has a driver loading process which currently is working on HP hardware but not on an Lenovo M900 or M910. Its the same image and same unattend. The only difference is the hardware. The short version is I am searching a folder tree and INF files. Once I find one I save that path to a string. When I have completed searching the directory tree I load up the SOFTWARE reg key to alter the DevicePath variable with my new string. My update to DevicePath are not present after the computer reboots. Walking through the process I can manually make additions to the DevicePath value but the new settings are not saved when unloading the key. Is there a BIOS setting I have not found yet that is protecting the registry files in c:\windows\system32\config?Has anyone else run into an issue like this?

Hi, I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon running Windows 10. I would like to connect an external monitor and my only option seems to be using the HDMI port and using a HDMI to VGA cable. I plug this into a Philips 24" ext monitor and nothing I try can get me to
duplicate or extend my display. I just get a message on the ext monitor of "Check Cable Connection". New cable, and new laptop.
How can I even check, if the HDMI port is enabled or is there some other hidden switch / setting / feature I need to turn on first. I have tried the display settings and 'Detect' but nothing.
Any thoughts please.
Kind Regards,

Hello and welcome,

I can't answer your question directly  but looking at the base spec, the implication is USB-C but not Thunderbolt, single external display supported.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

SO yesterday I discussed the Graphics Card issue with the M900, PSU replacement with a 400W PSU was also discussed.Today I am going to ask for your expertese on the RAM issue. The M900 came with 8GB RAMIt is 8GB PC4 2133P, So I went to best buy got 3 more sticks of 8GB PC4 2133P RAM and plugged them in...The PC would not boot, It started giving 2 loud and 1 less loud beeps.. almost sounded like I had put the PC on Life support... LOL... So I took out the 4 RAM chips and tried with each Chip, 2nd Slot for 2 Module, the PC would not boot up until I had the RAM that came with the PC in the slot. So I started checking it out...This is what I found...It will only take the 1Rx8 kind of Memory Chip.So The ONLY RAM this machine will ever take is the one that is manufactured/installed by Lenovo, any after market memory will not work unless specifically specified by the manufacturer for the Lenove model..... FML... Out of 1000's of kinds of RAM, this machine will only take 1 kind... and guess what, that 1 kind is NOT cheap... 8 GB runs for something like $115....So if my findings are wrong on all of this and you have been able to upgrade your RAM on the M900 Tower with anything other than 4/8GB-1Rx8-PC4-2133P-UA1-10, please let me know how and what did you do?

Hi this is my first question here.I just bought a M900 SFF (i7-6700) which has a 210W PSU. I want to get a MSI 750ti low profile GPU but worried about the lack of power so Im considering upgrading the original PSU.However, the motherboard has a Lenovo style 10-pin ATX and another 4-pin. So far I couldn't find any PSU that matches the motherboard. I would really appreciate some help! Also, I tried using the 750ti LP with the current 210W PSU. It worked fine with Would of Warcraft, but I havn't try other programs that might have higher power demand. Do you think I should keep looking for a PSU upgrade plan or is it actually just fine with the 210W? I used a PSU calculator and for my current system (with 750ti) it gave a 205W estimation, which is just under 210W.  I've read many similar posts here on this problem, but found no clear solution. I bought this partly for the advertised 'potential for upgrade', which now seems to me a lie because I can't even upgrade a PSU???

The problem was a new  M900 SFF Desktop that appeared to be Dead On Arrival, as it produced no image after plugging a monitor into the VGA port. The cause was a  M900 500Gb i7  that arrived with a Nvidia  graphics card with no VGA socket, though there was the usual VGA port on the mother board. The easiest solution was to buy a Startech DisplayPort/VGA Active adapter (there are others)  and plug that into the Nvidia card so as to bring the VGA screen to life. There is also a Lenovo cable 57Y4393, perhaps that should be offered as an option on purchase of the M900.This solution worked with a Belkin KVM switch, after briefly connecting the Nvidia card directly to the VGA monitor to pick up the settings.A more expensive solution was to buy a monitor with a display port socket and cable, though that wouldn't  work with a Belkin  KVM Switch. One could also switch the settings in the BIOS to activate the VGA port on the motherboard, but that would require a DisplayPort monitor at the start .I hasten to add these solutions have already been referred to in this forum, and by Lenovo support,  for which many thanks;  I hope this different indexing helps others who see this as a DOA problem or are struggling with a KVM.

Purchased a M900 with a 240gb SSD. I want to add a 1tb 3.5 inch drive. Machine arrived with SSD mounted in the 3.5 inch bay screwed on a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter (part number 43n9593). Watching YouTube I know I need to mount the SSD in a 2.5 inch bay under the cd and mount the 1tb drive in the 3.5 inch bay. The 2.5 inch bay is missing. Support sends me the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter not what I need. How can I get the 2.5 inch bay? Is there a part number of the 2.5 inch bay and cables to mount the SSD that I can order? If I look up parts -under mechanical assembly there are pictures for mech ask 2.5hdd to 3.5 hdd conver (part number 43n9593). The first picture shows a small baggy with 3 screws, a large metal bay (p/n 43n9593) and a small metal bay with a circuit board. I think I need that small bay with circuit board.

Looking at the parts list I think it may be FRU 00XD452.

Any one know the brand and model of the 512GB Ssd used in M900? I wonder whether it is SLC/MLC/TLC.

Solved!
Go to Solution.

A:About 512Gb ssd for M900

Surely not SLC.

Per system service parts document you can get:

- Samsung (PM871) is TLC
- SanDisk i suppose MLC
- LiteOn i suppose MLC

Majority of systems that we get from Lenovo is with Samsung PM871.

Or you can use partslookup. Best is to have serial number. Also possible to have product number, but then not 100% reliable regarding SSD P/N (as substitutes may be used).

Hello, this computer has run flawlessly up until this last Microsoft Creators update, now when I put it to sleep it refuses to awaken and when it does it appears as if it is in "SAFE MODE"....The icons are huge....It has been unstable and flashes back and forth between huge and regular sized icons....At this moment it is currently stable enough for me to type.....I have checked and downloaded all available BIOS updates since then, but that hasn't corrected the problem....The machine is nearly a year old and is still under warranty....Any advice???
